Hello, Youkai Watch fandom, today I bring you this.
I stumbled upon this alignment chart by accident, please tell me who made it if you have their info so I could credit them.
This alignment chart uses characters from Youkai Watch Shadowside and Forever Friends (mostly Shadowside, it's just this one guy from FF), and you can see I was scraping the barrel to fill some slots. It was very fun, though, and made me rewatch some episodes I haven't touched in a while, which is always a good thing. Also, I decided to only add one character per slot, the one who fits best in my opinion ( unless the characters are practically a single unit, such as the Onimaro Trio), but that ended up pushing some major figures to the side (like, for example, Keisuke and Akinori would both be Benefactors, and Fukurou and Douketsu would both be Soldiers, but I had to choose one for each category). I know that some characters don't really fit in these narrow slots, some are up for interpretation (how much do we really know about the Onimaro Leader or the corrupt royal advisers who framed Kuuten?), and some might be me misremembering the shit out of a show I'm in love with. If you have anything to add, please feel free to do so!
Here's the list, top left to bottom right, as well as some thoughts on their placement. Beware of spoilers, though, because it gets very spoilers!
Crusader - Tsukinami Touma. The post-movie Touma, obviously. He is a genuinely good guy who fights for what's right and is associated with sword imagery, what else can you say. Also, the reason he attacked the police station while under the influence of the Onimaro was because they made him believe the police weren't doing their job right and Touma was the only one who could fight crime efficiently, which means he must care about upholding the law, making him Lawful, alignment-wise.
Nurturer - Himeno Ayame. She is the kindest soul ever and doesn't want anyone to get hurt under any circumstances. She is the the only person on the show who is consistently nice to everyone, even the team's punching bag (Micchy, that is). And she is pretty social to boot.
Benefactor - Arihoshi Akinori. He is a free-roaming magical detective who will do illegal shit to solve a case, but will also do completely legal shit to solve a case, because he likes helping people and doing the right thing. Good for him.
Hero - Amano Natsume. I mean, who else would it be? She is literally the hero of this story, and she will try to deceive the villains by giving them chocolate bars instead of sacred swords, and I'm also not sure how legal jumping into that river from the movie was, she could have been fined for that if it didn't literally save a kid's life.
Vigilante - Jibanyan. All those Nyan Reno movies must have been one hell of an inspiration. He is a free spirit indeed, I mean, aren't all cats free spirits? And he is rough around the edges, but undoubtedly heroic and kind, and he will take on the supernatural law enforcements if they try to hurt someone who's dear to him.
Protector - Arihoshi Mitsue. She has high morals (some accidental dog-and-frogslaughter aside) and follows both the common Japanese laws and the laws dictated by the supernatural realm. She is not actively heroic (she tried her best during the movie, but at her age, she probably shouldn't have), but she is both a protector of tradition and a protector of the new generation of our spirit world doo-gooders. Respect the granny!
Counsellor - Whisper. Who else is there to give counselling to our leads if not the all-knowing butler himself? Whisper respects the laws of Youmakai, and appears to be working for Enma directly in the movie (I wonder if he still does during the show itself, that would explain where the detective agency gets the money to buy all these chocobars), but, as we can see from his past in the first anime, he is no stranger to barging into the royal palace and demanding laws be changed so he could keep hanging out with a friend. His relative closeness and complete lack of respect for Enma in some cases (the You-Tube prank and the Halloween boink come to mind) seems to indicate that he would be the most likely youkai to actually talk to Enma about changing the laws of the Youmakai if he disagrees with them, instead of following them begrudgingly (making him Lawful) or straight up breaking them (making him Chaotic).
Philosopher - Komasan. Why would a dog even care about laws? Also, he gives me general philosophical observer who would rather muse about the world around him than change it vibes. He is still a good doggo who will fight for his friends when they are in danger, and he follows his morals, but he will pay no respect to the silly human laws that forbid sentient creatures from urinating in the streets. Let him live, goddammit!
Rebel - Micchy. Acts without thinking? Check. Suffers the consequences? Check. Mantains a moral standing? Check. Would totally wear a leather jacket with a word "Rebel" etched onto the back? You betcha. I mean, many superhero comics and tokusatsu shows, which he is clearly a fan of, have rebellious protagonists who do the right thing and have high moral values without necessarily following the rules or staying in their lane, and many are at odds both with the criminals and with the law enforcements. Micchy himself has a delinquent background and would totally use underhanded tactics if necessary, but he is still a good guy and a self-professed hero. This guy is everything to me.
Trickster - Junior. Fudou Myouou Boy fits here too, to a lesser extent. Junior is still a little kid, so he views the world as a fun game to play, and being raised in a detective agency where exciting things tend to happen on a weekly basis is clearly affecting his development. He can be mischevious and cause minor trouble (including, but not limited to, eating someone's ark or cheating, like, twelve or so kids out of their Yu-Go-Oh! cards), and trickstery kinda comes with being a cat, but he is still a benevolent creature and will use his powers for good, even if using them for good means scaring a guy half to death (especially if it means scaring a guy half to death).
Judge - Lord Enma. Even with his throne usurped, he is still a just and honorable ruler who cares deeply about the safety of Youmakai and is willing to sacrifice himself to protect it. He is the law, or at least was the law before Lord Kaira took the throne for himself, but even then, saving Youmakai came first for Lord Enma, and getting his throne back came, like, third or so, he didn't even bother with it in the end. Nurarihyon could be in this spot as well, at least at the time of Shadowside, but the absolute shitshow that was his time as a consort in the second movie of the first anime makes me see him as more "Lawful Disaster" or "Lawful What the Fuck" than "Lawful Neutral". There was nothing neutral about him at the time, and even during Shadowside, his devotion to everything Enma kinda takes the neutrality out of him.
Soldier - Douketsu. Fukurou could be in this spot as well, but Douketsu had considerably more screen time than him, so I went with the teach. Fukurou can never win, can he? My poor owl child. Anyway, Douketsu is the devoted type. His moral compass is based entirely on what's best for the Oni clan, and, specifically, for Shutendoji. Shutendoji's wish is his command, and, even if he does not approve of his master's actions (see the Ayame/Jorogumo disaster for reference), he will always be there for him, will follow his every whim, and is more than willing to die for him (which he eventually does). Showing compassion to anyone but his fellow Oni clan members is out of the question, kidnapping little kids is the least he would do for his master. I wonder if his colleagues ever noticed anything strange about him during his short gig as a school teacher.
Undecided - Komajiro. Frog. That's it, that's the reasoning. He frog. Baby froggo. Dat boi. Why would he have morals, why would he follow the law? He loves his brother and is a friendly little creature, but he is more than capable of revenge, both petty and not-so-petty, and you will get your eye gouged out if he doesn't like you. This is what happens when you give a frog magical powers. Frogs cannot discern between good and evil, they don't need to, they are above that. Praised be the frogs. O shit waddup.
Rogue - Mitsumata Mizuchi. The Mitsumata Brother who did not grow out of his delinquent phase, but might begin to change his ways soon - not because he wants to be good or doesn't want to be evil, he just wants his brother to respect him. Laws, morals and alignments don't mean much to him, but his pride as a Mitsumata does, and so does his family (even if his reunion with an estranged brother did end up with a girl crying and a factory getting blown up). I don't think this guy respected a single law in his entire life, if he did not break a law, it means he just wasn't feeling like it on that particular day. His plan to get his brother's attention was to kidnap a girl, tie her to a chair and write a ransom note. I'm starting to think that watching too many movies and then poorly imitating them is a Mitsumata family trait.
Free Spirit - Ogu, Mogu and Togu. I'm including all three because they are an inseparable unit and play the same role in the story. While technically part of the malicious virus hive mind, they are not particularly motivated to do good or to do evil, they just float around doing what they are told, get attached to a guy and then help the guy in any way they can because they like him, whether it is by fighting the good guys, fighting the bad guys, performing a self-sacrifice or coming back after the self-sacrifice to float around once again. They even develop enough personality to get separated from the hive mind, all while not being technically good or bad. They literally become free spirits, after spending their entire lives as non-free spirits. Godspeed.
Overlord - the owner of NGEI, the power plant from the Robonyan 00 episode. His secretary also included because I couldn't be bothered to take a screenshot where he would be alone. A corrupt businessman who wants money and power, unsafe work practices be damned. You've seen these guys in the real world, now you get to see one on the screen. Not the strongest bad guy around, one combined effort from Whisper and Junior is enough to scare him into submission, and he gets his just desserts by the end of the episode. I know that the description says "bending" the law, and the guy clearly broke some laws in managing his power plant to get arrested at the end of the episode, but he fits otherwise, and bending the laws without technically breaking them can still get you in legal trouble if your power plant catches on fire and a group of kids nearly die. Shit, or was it a factory, not a power plant? I'd fact check if my browser didn't have a lethal amount of tabs open already.
Socialite - Lord Kaira. He wanted to lead all right, and lead he did. I don't think he was even that bad at it, like, everything bad that happened during Shadowside mostly took place in the human world, and the whole Soranaki kerfuffle wasn't even his fault. Nurarihyon is responsible for more ridiculous lawmaking than Kaira ever was, as far as we know. Lord Kaira's problem wasn't how he ruled, it was how he came to power (starting a coup and throwing a guy into a prison because he was more popular back in youkai school), and how he cared about power more than he did about effectively protecting his people (either that, or he genuinely believed he would just assimilate Fudou Myouou's power and slice Oni King Rasen in half effortlessly like a potato or something). On a sidenote, do we ever learn what kind of a human-youkai hybrid he is? Was he born from a youkai parent and a human parent, was he a human who somehow turned half-youkai, is he some weird magical amalgamation which resulted from some youkai scientists playing God? Either way, it clearly gave the guy some self-esteem issues that need to be adressed.
Schemer - the Onimaro Leader. You know, the guy from the movie who manipulated a lonely kid into doing lots and lots of crime, just so he could merge with Rasen, effectively stopping to exist in the process. We don't learn much about him, but he is hellishly good at manipulation (all of his scenes with Touma made me gawk at how good he was at reading that kid) and seems to be fairly smart and logical for someone whose goal is incomprehensible to humans. Like, why would you even want that? My theory is that all Onimaro are aspects of Rasen, one way or another, and the Leader represents his smart, logical and cunning side, you know, the traits that are kind of needed to be a competent king. This would mean that Ogu, Mogu and Togu represent friendliness, empathy and having an open mind, and these are the only three Onimaro he did not absorb. Says a lot about the guy, doesn't it?
Nomad - Shien. Yup, we are entering the Forever Friends zone, because it still counts as Shadowside, kinda, sort of, same game! He is a prince who hates his dad and wants to prove himself while also being a dick about it, and a lot of political and family drama follows, resulting in many senseless and tragic deaths among the common folk. You know, just like with real life monarchies. Also, Shutendoji was there, and it made things worse (of course it made things worse), and then Soranaki attacked, and Amaterasu of all youkai was there for some reason (it lasted for three seconds and he had, like, three lines of dialogue), and we ended up getting a baby Enma as a result. This movie was something else, I'm telling you. Anyway, Shien had zero respect for anything and anyone, ever, and his second life as Lord Enma is a big improvement (his second-second life as Hikage Mao is an improvement as well, he manages to be a background character for 214 episodes of the first anime without making it known that he can see youkai, despite everything that was happening around him in the classroom. A true legend).
Psychopath - Jorogumo. Hello, my favourite spider lady! We've all heard about women's rights, now get ready for women's wrongs. She does not. Give. A fuck. Morals can fuck right off, she will suck a guy's soul from his dead skull, and she will commit identity theft while commiting a different identity theft (theftception) to manipulate a simp into doing dirty work for her, and she will ridicule him every step of the way, and she will endanger all lives, any lives, as long as she gets to do what she loves (murder and consumption of human flesh). There has never been a better depiction of "gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss" as a character, and that phrase originated long after Shadowside came out. I love how she got to hang out in the opening credits long after the gang had defeated her. That's how much of an impact she had on everything, all while not being even remotely connected to the Soranaki drama (if she was present during Shuka and Kuuten's time, though, she would totally meddle with them to make sure the drama gets even juicier and everyone suffers even more, all while pretending to be Shuka's bff, friendship bracelets and all. I want a fanfic of this, not gonna lie).
Dominator - the corrupt advisors who framed Kuuten. This is the only slot that I have genuinely pulled out of the depths of my ass. How much do we even know about these guys? Why did they frame Kuuten? Were they worried that he was getting too much influence in the Youmakai court due to being Shuka's lover? Were they planning to set Shuka up with a different suitor to further their political agenda? Did Kuuten do something to anger them, maybe he vetoed a law he shouldn't have or crossed paths with the wrong politician? Was there genuinely a plot to kill Shuka's father, and the advisors decided to frame Kuuten to cover up the true culprit's ass? Were the advisors themselves behind the assassination plot? Or... Maybe the advisors genuinely believed that Kuuten was scheming behind their backs, but they had no evidence so they faked it in fear that Kuuten will go through with the assassination while they are too busy trying to catch him red-handed, and it was their distrust of him, not genuine malice, that got him killed. Either way, I needed someone for the Dominator slot, so let's go with the assumption that they framed Kuuten because they were evil, and were most definitely methodical and intentional while doing so. Honestly, I'm not even sure if it's them in the picture I used, or just some youkai they hired to get rid of the pesky Kuuten supporters. That's how vague the Kuuten situation is. Real world history tends to do that too, actually.
Sociopath - Shutendoji. Let me make this clear, the alignment chart uses the term as a description of a character archetype, I'm not trying to actually diagnose Shutendoji with sociopathy or anything. He clearly needs therapy (don't we all?), but I'm not sure if that would be the right diagnosis for him, same as I'm not sure if an actual medical professional would diagnose Jorogumo with psychopathy (they would probably get eaten by her before they could finish the assessment). Anyway, this guy had an agenda (to put Shuka back in charge of Youmakai, whatever it takes), and he sacrificed everything for this agenda. We don't know if it was his personal decision or if he was raised like that by the Oni clan and just trying to finish what his ancestors had started; we don't know if he genuinely believed that life would be better for everyone under the Oni clan's rule, or if he just wanted to have political power and saw Shuka as the only way to get it. His devotion to Shuka is almost fanatical in nature, his one-track mind makes him miss obvious signs that Something is Wrong, and everything about him screams "a kid who got brought up in a literal cult and does fucked up things because he doesn't know any better", but does that absolve him of responsibility for, well, everything that happened? Not really. Also, by the time we last see him in Shadowside, his two closest friends and allies are dead, his plan has failed, he has nowhere to go and he plans on drowning his sorrows in alcohol so he wouldn't have to face the existential dread of having failed the task that he's been preparing for his entire life. The tragedy of Shuka gave birth to the tragedy of Shutendoji, and time will tell if it, too, will result in a Soranaki-level threat that some kid with a magical watch will have to fix in a hudred years or so. Jiba Jinpei's descendants better get ready.
Malefactor - Oni King Rasen. The first trial our heroes had to face on their journey to Time Timely. The monarch who actually does something, that something being smashing stuff, throwing girls into rivers, shooting blood spikes at people and generally being an evil piece of shit. He is so mindlessly evil, it's kinda hard to hate him, unless you consider him and the Onimaro Leader to be parts of the same personality, then yes, he is very hateable. Also, his defeat made for a very entertaining kamishibai play by an obscure, but highly talented artist Mike Shadowside. Look, I'm referencing my own old posts now. It's time for me to go to bed, and, thankfully, we are almost done.
Anarchist - Shiroda, the thug from the first episode. At first I misremembered his name as Sorada and wanted to have an entire bit about how him being the first enemy of the series proper was a subtle foreshadowing for Soranaki, but alas, my bad memory is to blame. Anyway, he is a criminal who does criminal things criminally and beats eleven year olds with a chain. A disgrace to all anarchists everywhere, good thing the ghost of a little boy who looks inexplicably like Kujo Jotaro got him beat up.
Destroyer - Soranaki. The grief of a wrongly accused and executed innocent which took shape and went apeshit on everything, but especially his ex-girlfriend. Destruction of beauty and life, indeed. He wants to take away lives the same way his own life was taken away once. Tokio Ubaune from the first movie of the first anime had something similar going on, but her scope was not nearly that big, and her ex actually had nothing to do with it, yet he becomes the reason she changes her ways in the games, which is kind of another parallel to Soranaki. I guess the Amano family is just doomed to keep dealing with bitter spirits who are murderously angry about getting wrongly accused of crimes they did not commit and dying in prison as a result (an understandable reaction, not gonna lie), and the best solution just happens to bring their long dead ex to them so they could make up.
Oh God, I'm going to have so much fun tagging all of this, aren't I?
Anyway, have a nice Youkai Watchi-chi day, I hope the time is timing timely for you.

-Retsu and Gou playing the piano with their toes. big win for the Fukami liking feet freaks
-The baddies being able to hammer Long's Ball Prison into an Engine Soul shape is so concerning. why is it so malleable. i know its for the funny but still
-Ken's horndog behavior for girl yellows is mostly Not Funny Didn't Laugh but him giving Saki a ginkgo leaf with a smile drawn on it was cute
-Ran poking Gunpei's cheek also very cute. i too wish i could do that
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Jan being the reasonable one opposite Sosuke is so WeirdChamp. feral turned domesticated cat vs unneutered batshit orange tomcat
-Go on Wings already know beast fist because of course they do
-There are also plentiful Renn and Hant feet shots. toku foot perverts rejoice
-POV you are just a little upside down hater
Tumblr media
-Actually I think teaching beast fist to the go ongers is a dangerous idea. they should NOT have this power they WILL do stupid shenanigans with them
-Sosuke getting his geki powers not though training but by being really passionate about saving Speedor. they would be so yaoi if Speedor wasn't a sentient toy car

-LMAO THERE'S A PREVIEW FOR KR DECADE HERE? also shinkenger. wow 09 sure was a while ago huh. don't like the passage of time much
Closing thots: cute lil movie! nothing particularly amazing or funny but the contrast between "competent and sensible people" gekis and "heads full of sawdust" go ongers was amusing enough. i would say that bringing Leo and Mele back from the dead AND releasing Long from his Ball Prison kinda cheapened the ending to geki but man. its sentai it ain't that serious lol
6/10 not enough genki red shenanigans for my liking. maybe Jan and Sosuke should have kissed a lil idk

Ore no Tsugai ha Thoroughbread Omega (Manga)
Tumblr media
Genres: Yaoi, Smut
Status: Completed
Author: Licca Arata
Favorite Character: Eito Yanagi
Favorite Chapter: Chapter 5
Tumblr media
Plot Synopsis: Leo Asaka, an alpha male and a second-generation actor, hates it when people say he's just like his actor father. Leo is working hard to make it big on his own when he receives an offer to star in a film to be shot by a world-famous director. He then learns who his co-star is: Eito Yanagi, another alpha male and a second-generation actor who's known for living a scandalous life. The two of them get locked in a hotel room so they can get to know each other, where Leo glimpses a secret about Eito that may change the course of their destiny.
The story is great and the art is also beautiful. I really hope this gets a sequel. The chemistry between Leo and Eito is really good. They are both strong characters and have different personalities which makes them perfect for each other. Also, I like Eito and Natsume's friendship. They support each other, and even have almost the same heat cycle.
SPOILER ALERT!!
Overall, the story is really cute, interesting, and a little bit weird. Weird because I think that the movie plot that Leo and Eito starred in sorta implied that they may have been half brothers in real life. I don't know, but it made me confused. It made me think that when Eito mentioned his mom's name and being an omega, Leo's dad felt like he remembered something. Like something he couldn't forget or he knew something. Like maybe the fated pair Eito's mom was talking about was Leo's dad, which makes it incest. I really hope there is a sequel to clarify this confusion and I want more stories of Eito and Leo's love life. I also want to see their baby together. Lastly, I want a separate story about Natsume and Kota.

Hello, I was your secret santa for @natsume-ss this year! I really enjoyed your prompts, so I hope you can enjoy this fic as well ✨
Title: Peace of Mind Relationship: Gen, Natsume Takashi & Tanuma Kaname Prompts used: Gen fic, any kind of reveal fic
Summary:
He felt frozen, caught between two answers. The first, the easiest, was also one he could never say: It's fine. I'm already taking care of it. The second answer was the one that pertained to what they were really asking, he knew. And the answer was: I have no idea what to do for him right now.

Official online Nabari Kuji!
Kamatani Yuhki announced recently on their Twitter that a new company is holding an online kuji (lottery) for official Nabari goods! It's rare to see something like this come out so long after a series ends, and I want as many people as possible to get the chance to participate. (According to the site's Q&A, you can register through a third-party company to have prizes shipped internationally, though I haven't tried this myself.)
All the prizes are random, and use official manga/promotional art—prints, badges, magnets, and so on—focusing on a variety of characters.
The kuji runs from today (August 19th, Japan time) through September 30th, 2022. You see what you've won right away after purchasing, but the items themselves won't be shipped till late December, and international shipping will probably cause further delays.
Link coming in reblog because I'd like this to show up in the tag.

My #1 post of 2022
Walthrough: Reposting your old FFNet fics to Ao3
In light of recent rumors that FanFiction.Net might be receiving little/no ongoing support, and could suddenly disappear one day with very little warning, I wanted to offer a resource that might help preserve another fic or two. Just in case.
I'm already keeping a private collection of favorite fics from FFN that I can't bear to lose, but this tutorial isn't for saving other folks' fic. Instead, this tutorial is for people who might want to republish their own fic to Ao3 in a streamlined, relatively painless way.
Using these steps, I was able to upload an entire 16-chapter fic, with all the correct original formatting and without doing any fussy HTML editing, in about an hour. (And that was while making up the steps as I went along!)
What you'll need:
A link to your old FFNet account URL OR the those of the fics you want to save (no login necessary)
Access to a working Ao3 account
A web browser, permission to download zipped HTML files, and an unzipper (most computers have these by default)
How to save your fic for posterity:
Copy the link to the first chapter of the fic on FFN that you want to save. (Right-clicking the title of the fic on your profile and choosing "Copy Link" will do this.)
Go to https://fichub.net/ and paste in the URL. Press Export, then click "Download as zipped HTML." This saves your entire fic at once, no matter how many chapters, with formatting intact. Everyone thank the team who made this tool, because it's amazing.
Navigate to your downloads (or click on the pop-up that'll probably appear) and open the zipped HTML file. It will probably open in your default browser on its own, but you might need to tell it to open by right-clicking the unzipped file and choosing the desired browser. The resulting file should have all the chapters of the fic laid out one after another, with clear breaks between each chapter and the original HTML formatting (including section breaks).
Post a "New Work" in Ao3. (Can't import with FFNet, sadly, which is why this tutorial exists.) Add the title, relevant tags, and summary. (I used my FFNet summary with a note that the fic is crossposted.) Backdate the fic if desired by choosing a publishing date from around the time the fic was written.
Here's the magic part: Switch to Rich Text Mode in the "Work Text" field, then copy-paste the text from your first chapter into the Rich Text Mode window. (Note: You may see the stray space appear around italicized/bolded text, and an extra line break tends to appear between section breaks. Otherwise, though, the formatting is generally very well preserved.)
Optional detail: Hit "Preview," then "Save Draft," then "Add Chapter" to avoid posting any of your chapters till you have them all set up and ready to go.
Side note 1: Don't put an endnote on the end of your Chapter 1. Or if you do, go add a chapter 2 first, and then go back to add a chapter 1 endnote. Otherwise it'll end up at the end of your fic instead. It's a fixable outcome, but an annoying one.
Side note 2: If you use a pseud to post, you'll need to be careful to select the correct pseud for each chapter you upload, or you'll end up being listed as the author twice, once under each pseud you selected. If you notice this happening, it's because you've missed switching one in one or more chapters. This is fixable by checking the author listed under each chapter heading using the "Entire Work" button and keyword searching the username you're trying to get rid of.
While I didn't find a way to post all chapters at once, you can do it pretty quickly in the right order, without skipping, by doing the following steps in a loop:
Press "Entire work" at the top of the page.
Use your browser's "Find in page" function for the text "post chapter".
Hitting the "Post Chapter" button that appears.
Just continue the loop until there's no more "Post Chapter" buttons.
Once your chapters are all uploaded, you're done! Congratulations.
A final note
I know that this latest rumor might be blowing certain hints of FFNet's siterunners' inactivity out of proportion. I know that Ao3 isn't everyone's favorite (though I don't agree with most of those people). And I know, most of all, that some folks would rather some of their older fics not see the light of day anymore, for whatever reason.
But look. I'm a trans guy who used to be a teenage girl who (enthusiastically) wrote Twilight/Doctor Who crossover fanfic. I get it, and yet I'm still managing to stun the part of me that cringes long enough to preserve my stuff, because I think that fic should survive whenever possible.
There are options to help make the cringe factor more manageable. Use a pseud for your older stuff (like me), or to minimize any connection to your current account, you can use the Anonymous collection or the Orphan Work function as soon as you're done posting. Do whatever you need to feel comfortable.
But remember that every creative work is a victory just for existing. Please, if you can, find it in your heart (and your schedule) to preserve your work. Past!you worked hard on it, after all. And besides, you never know who might stumble across it someday exactly when they need it.
(PS: Please let me know about any other FFN preservation efforts, by the way! Hopefully this is all blown out of proportion, but you really can never be too careful.)

So Splatoon tends to have a lot of fun references and easter eggs and whatnot, but I am loving the thing that appears after you secure the ultra signal! Excuse the bad picture, it’s taken from here— https://splatoonwiki.org/wiki/Sprinkler_of_Doom
Tumblr media
In English this is called the Sprinkler of Doom, which I’ll get into why that’s a fantastic translation in a second. The Japanese is just マトイ. Here’s the explanation from Wikipedia— A matoi (纏/まとい) was a flag used in Edo period Japan by firemen (火消し, hikeshi) to notify people of a fire near or within a building. It was taken up on a roof near the burning building by the matoi holder (纏持, matoimochi) and waved to draw the attention of other groups of firefighters, who would then hurry to the site of the fire to assist. Each different group of firemen in the Edo period had their own matoi to identify themselves.
Here’s a picture of a matoi!

I pulled twice for the Noragami kuji! I really wanted Yukine ofc but I’d be happy with Yato, Hiyori, Yukine, or Kofuku. So…a 4/12 chance of getting who I want 😭😭

Y’all I’m losing my mind. Sorry for the bad quality but basically in the whole image the fox boy is playing and that’s what Natsume’s looking at but I guess Tanuma only has eyes for Natsume 😭😭😭

okay so I watched the Natsume movie (finally after forever, thanks to apta-scans, y’all are the best)
although I felt it has pacing issues here and there* the movie is very nice, the music is lovely, the animation is just amazing, seriously the best I’ve seen from the series overall (I don’t know what it was, probably money and time, but boy did it do wonders), my son accepting and learning stuff is A+, Tanuma is still the goodest boy to ever walk this Earth, and I want endless little fluffy toys of tiny Nyanko sensei with a leaf on his head, he/they be so cute I can’t even :D
also the movie blessed us with this glorious shot of Nyanko sensei, 10/10 will rewatch forever
Tumblr media
*(nothing serious tho, I just felt like two or three scene transitions were weird, still a great movie)

Day 21 - Traveler
Natsume has gone through many things since he was a child until he found a place to belong. Quite a journey, full of uncertainty and fear, but now he has arrived to a home to call his, traveler days over
There’s some yokai who also travel for miles and years

(One of the most important things about the Natsume movie to me is the fact that the mini nyankos can only talk when they are all perfectly stacked on top of one another, and Tanuma is the one who figures this out—

Brief Summary of Natsuyuu Ch.111
Tumblr media
From Lala July 2021. I usually don't do summary and English isn't even my first language. But I love this Chapter very much. If the amine staffs want to make another movie, this chapter would be the most fantastic choice. I only give a brief summary for what’s going on, please don’t ask for more. Edit: I added some details here.   Spoiler under the cut.
Natsume, Nyanko-sensei, Tanuma, Nishimura and Kitamoto come to Kitamoto’s uncle’s house for vacation. When they are fishing, they find this:
Tumblr media
Sweet boy Nishimura puts it back on the beach.
When they are having dinner, Natsume learns that Kitamoto used to be in baseball club, Nishimura used to be in football club, and Tanuma used to learn judo, karate and piano.
Natsume thinks he can learn something about his friends bit by bit, it’s still like a dream to him.
And Sensei looks like this:
Tumblr media
Natsume notices something weird with Sensei. He thinks that if something happened, he needed to protect everyone. After he asks Tanuma for help, the boys go to sleep.
But Nyanko-sensei wakes all the boys up. Actually, he is being possessed.
Tumblr media
Natsume: (Sensei, stop talking......) Nishimura: Wow! Natusme’s cat can talk! Kitamoto: Really! ...but what happened? Natsume: Kitamoto, Nishimura, this is... Tanuma: W-what a weird dream! Kitamoto: A dream? Tanuma: It should be, isn’t it? You see, a cat suddenly talks, it is such a strange dream.  Kitamoto: You are right... Nyanko-sensei (or the Youkai possessing Sensei) says that the boys ruined their chance to return home so they need to help them.
Tumblr media
Since Nishimura brought the inflatable boat to the beach, those nestlings can’t go back to Rainbow Cloud where they came from.
The nestling who possessing Sensei asks the boys help them returning, and tells them, “under the guidance of fire, human children can walk on the sea."
Tumblr media
They find the Rainbow Cloud on the sea. and it starts raining stars.
Nyanko-sensei (now he is himself again) tells the boys to catch the stars before they fall into the sea, and throw them into the air, it will create a road for the nestlings to return.
The boys start their star catching, literally.
Tumblr media
After trial and error, which including a star Nishimura caught being eaten by a youkai fish and Tanuma using wrong hand (he is left-handed) to throw a star then miserably failed, Kitamoto finally catches a big one and throws it into the sky.
Tumblr media
A giant fish brings the nestlings back to the Rainbow Cloud, and the falling stars become beautiful fireworks.
Tumblr media
Natsume thinks that it is a strange night that not only him, but all of his friends can see. He is happy. After that, they return and sleep. The boys wake up at the same time.
Nishimura and Kitamoto believe they just had a beautiful dream. Tanuma agrees with them. Then Nishimura tells Natsume,“it is a happy dream, I hope I can share with all of you. It’s really beautiful. “How about you, Natsume. What did you dream?”
Tears form in Natsume’s eyes.
Tumblr media
Natsume: It’s a secret.

I added some details from this chapter in a new post.

Spoilers for the newest chapter in Lala, ‘cause I like a lot of the details. Not really plotty, but since a lot of it is characterization related, you may still want to skip this until you can read it properly. It’s kind of a random list of things I noticed or liked, so it may not make sense if you haven’t read the chapter. I just wanted to get some of this out, haha.
It belatedly occurred to me that the movie previews at the beginning are maybe meant to help mark a time skip. Since the boys saw the second detective Natori movie after Tanuma’s “Suspicious Visitor” arc, and this is presumably the third movie, there should be several months in between. There’s definitely a subtle change in the way the kids are all drawn, and I think Taki’s hair is longer too.
Natsume has helped Tanuma cook so many times he’s started getting good at it. 😭 And he wants to get good enough to help Touko-san. 😭 “Tanuma-san’s home is solid, isn’t it.” Is that approval, Shigeru-san??
Shigeru-san looking forward to Natsume someday being able to drink with Touko and Shigeru. 😢
Natsume really seems to have settled in, though there’s still moments he’s surprised by thoughts of the future.
“Nyanko-sensei-sama” lol
Taki is hanging out with her new friend(s)! Which is how we get “please don’t dig for potatoes here in the middle of the night, Sensei, it’s creeping out my friend” (paraphrased, but I can’t stop laughing.) Also the implication that the friend was too scared to check so Taki did it for her is cute.
Drunk Touko-san adgkdlsdfs
Sensei. Why. I don’t blame Natsume for punching you.
People are fixating on the “familiar” way Natsume hands Tanuma his tea, haha. It’s subtle, but I can see it.
Their little faces!! And Tanuma running interference again.
Somebody buy that poor yokai some pretty shoes.
Someone on twitter used this kaomoji for the yokai’s face, haha: ( ˘ω˘ )
Nishimura you’re going to give Natsume a heart attack.
The tone of the main plot is rather creepy, so I’m not sure if any of the kids will be back in the second part. Kind of concerned this sense of Natsume feeling comfortable might be relevant. 😐 But the first part was really fun.

To my followers:
I’ve caught up with
Detective Conan anime
Natsume Yuujinchou latest movie Ishi Okoshi to Ayashiki Raihousha
Vanitas no Carte latest manga
Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun manga (sooner or later)
So please be aware of the upcoming spoilers each :D
Detective Conan: I do NOT tag spoilers for the anime episodes and the movies. I often tag not-animated-yet manga spoilers as either “conan spoilers“ or “dcmk spoilers“. I haven’t really caught up with the manga, though :P
Natsume Yuujinchou: I think I will NOT tag spoilers for the movie, oops? I usually tag not-animated-yet manga spoilers as “natsume yuujinchou spoilers”.
Vanitas no Carte: IDK I was originally planning to avoid reblogging not-animated-yet manga spoilers itself until the current anime season ends at least, BUUUT to be very honest I canNOT really promise that, ooops ^^;; The latest arc is especially just ASDFGHJKL AAAHH I’ll tag either “vnc spoilers” or “vanitas no carte spoilers” (maybe both) for not-animated-yet manga spoilers! including the latest ones!!
Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun: I still haven’t decided what to tag for the spoilers, I’ll wait and see the popular tag(s) after fully finishing it XD
Thank you for understanding!

Seven episodes in out of the nine that I found subbed and. I'm not. Really sure how the whole Yokai Hero system works??? Like most eps end with the onryo (I think that's what they're calling them now? ...why is it called Yokai power then smh) seemingly at peace and moving on but all that happens is that they're absorbed in the watch thing and medals pop out. Sometimes one, sometimes three, sometimes FIVE from the same Yokai? I'm not really sure what makes a Yokai give out the medal to make a hero form and ultimate attacks (that's what the extra medals do. Maybe? The last two eps I watched the protag pull new stuff from the same Yokai and I get the feeling they're just pulling stuff out if their ass only to never use it again) cuz Jibanyan only ever uses the first one he got and all the medals go to him despite his friends also having watches and fighting beside him.
BUT ANYWAYS someone PLEASE teach level5 what hard magic systems are??? If characters are using powers to resolve problems there need to be clearly defined rules and limits!!! smh I'm getting a headache. (Also irrelevant but imagine if Nate got five medals from each Yokai he befriended lol he'd need fifteen more medalliums)
Anyways yeah the tldr is that magic system and consistent yokai visibility was a problem even in the original series, but given that now they're determined to make their protags "special" and use powers to solve problems and muddied the whole thing it's so much more awful. And I wish they'd kicked the toilet humor out but ofc it has to be there. And the awful attempts to portray middle school romantic overtures. Just. Just stop. They honestly have no idea how to write crushes this is pathetic to watch
Also edgy McEdge emo hair rival didn't appear for more than a minute and I said "what an edgelord, bet he has the typical tragic backstory of Lost Whole Family To Bad Guys™ (in this case aliens) and not much later I saw a spoiler and can I just say CALLED IT
I'd throw down for Jinpei though, he's nothing like Jibanyan but he's actually enjoyable to watch! Instead of being awful while the narrative pretends he did nothing wrong (cough Natsume cough) he's actually a genuinely nice little weirdo and I love him. He acts more like a puppy than a cat though XD Meanwhile, onion head is still a bore
Honestly? I'd be able to overlook y academy's flaws and have fun with it if level 5 had kept its dumb fucking "aliens murdered everyone in their past lifes" plot twist out of it and made it full AU, but alas. So far it's much better than Shadowside, but tbf that's not saying much
You said your English name for Yuto from the second movie is Clay, right? I'm curious if there is any particular reason why :) (the 19th this month makes the 5th anniversary since the release of the 2nd movie! It only seemed appropriate to ask something about it :D)
Yeah, uh... Yokai Watch is terrible when it comes to keeping consistent. Like, hell... It’s not great, especially if you’re moving on into action, it just gets confusing.
The edgelord backstory being generically easy to answer? Who saw that that coming? Also, yeah it would’ve been better to be an AU much like Blasters, but I guess you can’t have that.
Also as for the name of Clay? Heehee, wouldn’t you like to know (we say in distain, frankly) : )

!! Reader and oc fic recommendations !! One Day More by Lothelen -features an unforgettable and charming oc. Amaryllis is her own person, with flaws and strengths, and you really want to see her succeed. -the oc's placement in the original work is really, really good. The world is lived in by this oc, it doesn't bend to her whims, but it also doesnt go on as though she doesn't exist, like she says something and does something but the scenes go on as though she said or did nothing of value. I hate that, yet this fic doesn't do that at all. The oc lives in that world. -the narrative and writing is superb !! Theres plot that drives the oc forward, and allows her to grow as a character. She also interacts with a range of characters rather then just the love interest, and none of her interactions with them feel tropey or flanderised -speaking of love interest, ive never read lotr or seen the movies, but whenever I try to enter that fandoms oc and reader insert fanfictions (I can never get enough and need to join new fandoms for more), I'm usually met with just a whole lot of Legolas. And I dont know if it's my preferences, my protag complex, or the way people write this character, but I do not care for Legolas like, at all. Kinda boring tbh. One Day More features Frodo/oc, and my protag complex is living! I love their relationship in this fic, as I said, you want the oc to succeed. - I'm usually not a fan of oc fics, especially since authors tend to go all in when making an oc, including giving them a personality and name I kind of hate. (I usually substitute it with the same names I use for "y/n", and no one asked but those happen to be Camie and Natsume, because usually ocs are named like too far out, "ebony", or waaaaay too normal and plain, "emily" which theres nothing wrong with, but I just assume the authors name is emily and that's why they went with that name, kinda cringe tbh). As for personalities I hate, they're usually too... you know, "dont take shit" even if the characters around them are total badasses who could kick their ocs ass, and it's just so ... annoying?? Anyway. Amaryllis is a name I liked not because it's not out there like "ebony" or too normal like "emily", I didn't dislike it because it was clear the ocs parents were going for a theme. The ocs sisters are also named with plant based names, starting with the letter "A", if I gave the OC the name "Camie" in my head, it wouldn't make any sense in the naming scheme her parents had. So I warmed up to amaryllis and learned to love the name. As for personality, shes fine. Just snarky enough to be interesting, but not to the extent of annoyance. - some scenes I really liked without spoilers : Amaryllis reading the poem she painstakingly made to a group. I was there with her, in fact i was her in that scene. I think we've all been in a situation where we have to read something we've made to a group of people. I actually cried in that scene, and a detail I loved was the OC asking Sam to hear her poem first, because she knew Sam wouldnt make fun of her. It adds to it a lot, I really love that detail. -The festival scene, where Amaryllis wins her favourite coloured flowers for herself, rather then Frodo just buying them for her. Her character really shines here. A detail I love here is her handing the flowers out to her friends. Definitely worth checking out !! https://m.fanfiction.net/s/9165498/1/One-Day-More
