Cracow’s Nativity
Kraków szopki or nativity scenes are a Christmas tradition originating from Kraków, Poland, and dating back to the 19th century. An unusual and characteristic feature of the szopka is the use of historical buildings of Kraków as a backdrop for the Nativity of Jesus.
Since 2014, Krakow nativity scenes have been on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage - they were among the first five phenomena included on this list In 2018, it was also included as the first Polish phenomenon on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity maintained by UNESCO.
Krakow's nativity scene traditions are looked after by the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow, which has been organizing annual competitions since 1946, and since 1953 also post-competition exhibitions. The museum has the largest collection of nativity scenes in the world (over 200 exhibits), which it has been presenting at numerous domestic and foreign exhibitions for many years.

我們關心。 我們感覺。 我們認為。 我們並不總是想念著缺席的人。 我們無法總是呼之即來。 與孤獨者做朋友需要耐心和智慧,那份距離並不意味著不喜歡。
We care. We feel. We think. We do not always miss the absent one. We cannot always come when called. Being friends with a loner requires patience and the wisdom that distance does not mean dislike.
