fandom: the wayhaven chronicles

A/N: been meaning to write this for literal years lol. be kind, my first twc fic in years <3
┗━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━┛
There's you, there's Nat and there's a piano.
There’s also a look exchanged, which ignites something deep and molten in the pit of your stomach as your breath starts to quicken at the sight of Nat's warm brown eyes glinting with desire.
You're sitting on top of the grand piano and you stare at each other, vampire and human, the moment crackling with electricity around you. You are incredibly aware of Nat's power as a supernatural during this moment. She could kill you with a snap of her fingers. You're not sure why you find the thought so appealing and you are certain Nat would be absolutely horrified if she knew what you're thinking, but luckily mind reading isn’t one of Natalie Sewell's many talents yet.
Nat wiggles you out of your shirt, laughing when the fabric gets stuck on the silver necklace you're wearing, making you curse under your breath. You try to settle your nerves by steadying your breath, but it's all but useless. It's a little frustrating to lose your composure so easily, when Nat appears to be in full control of herself despite her obvious desire for you. At least for now. You hope that will change.
When your shirt is finally out of the way, Nat's eyebrow quirks, your blush deepens and her long fingers dance on the bare skin over your ribs; like she is playing them the same way she played the piano for you only a few moments earlier.
You sigh at her touch, and Nat smiles, wholeheartedly gentle, and you kiss her, because there's no other conclusion for this moment. You love kissing Nat. She does it like she does everything: all-encompassingly.
Her lips are so soft and pillowy you absent-mindedly wonder what lip balm she uses, before all the thoughts disappear from your mind at the force of Nat's devotion to you. You love her so much you feel faint with it; it feels it wouldn't even be possible to adore a person so much as you adore Nat, its might almost taking you by surprise during this moment.
[ao3 link]
Nat helps you out of your bra by unhooking the clip at the front, taking the time to compliment the rosy pink colour against your complexion, which makes you giggle stupidly, because you're so in love with this one woman you would do absolutely anything she asks or desires of you. It should be scary but it isn't, because she's Nat.
You attempt to remove Nat's green shirt as well, but she gently pushes your eager hands away and instead opens the button and zipper of your washed up jeans and helps you out of them.
Then she falls on her knees and the sight takes you out of breath, makes you feel like all of this is just a hazy dream and you will soon wake up with your life turned back to normal without this devastatingly attractive vampire kneeling in front of you. You scoot closer to the edge of the piano when Nat crooks her forefinger invitingly.
And then… then her mouth is on you.
There’s fabric between you, but that doesn't slow Nat down at all, she's eager and you're wet, and it's so good you almost feel like you're going to pass out at any second.
Nat doesn't let you, though. She folds her hand into yours, linking your fingers as she devours you with your lips, keeping you in this moment with her. Not letting you escape.
The piano’s surface is cold against your back, but you're barely even aware of it, to be honest. You can't feel anything else but Nat. And that's possibly her whole point.
After a moment Nat pulls back to breathe and finally diacards your underwear. Your flimsy pink panties are left to dangle from your ankle, as Nat returns to her task to make your world a better place. She's so fucking amazing that you feel almost livid with it, because you know in your heart that you don't deserve her, you never will. But that doesn't mean you can't try.
You moan and Nat echoes it to you. Her lips are glistening as she raises her head to meet your almost fever-like gaze. She smiles, a little smug, her fingers stroking the side of your left thigh, leaving only goosebumps behind.
“You're nearly there, ya rouhi,” Nat murmurs. “Good girl,” she adds, almost cheekily, and you feel like you could burst from the seams. Or maybe just die.
You groan and kick her shoulder lightly with your foot, the underwear drooping on it flying away, which only makes her chuckle, amused at your impatience.
She leans back towards your, pressing a  sweet sort of kiss to your inner thigh, making your heart feel fuller than it's ever been, before putting her mouth on you again.
You moan and sigh and groan, and Nat takes all of it as if they were a gift, her tongue working wickedly on your wet core. You think she might be naturally gifted at it, and only realise you have said it aloud, when Nat giggles, endlessly amused, with a shake of her head. Her soft hair brushes your naked sensitive skin as she shakes with laughter. You would probably get offended if you weren't so out of it, the pleasure making you feel soft as dough.
“Nat…” you say and you're not proud of how her name comes out of your mouth more like a whine.
Nat hushes you, before licking you again, almost ferociously. She wants you to come, wants it badly, and it doesn't take long for it to happen.
It's a thunderwave, a tsunami, a hurricane, and you scream so loudly that you're worried that Farah will come running soon in her need for misguided mischief.
Then you laugh. And Nat laughs, still on her knees in front of you, fully dressed. You lift yourself up as Nat retrieves your misplaced panties (they're somehow stuck on a lampshade) and brings them to you. She offers them to you, but you just raise your eyebrow and Nat ends up sliding them on you, her touch teasing and soft.
She bends down to kiss you. You kiss her.
“Well,” you say, “I wouldn't mind having more piano lessons with you some other time, Ms. Sewell.”
Nat grins. “Your desire is my command,” she says, utterly sincere.

Nighttime Breathing
Nat Sewell x Female Detective
At far past midnight, even the most rambunctious of residents were home and asleep and Nat had the town to herself. But the quiet lured her attention once more and she found herself drifting to a stop out front of Haley’s bakery.
A passing thought of all the excellent food, and company, she had shared there turned into more navel-gazing, only with her eyes turned upwards towards the sky instead of down to the ground.

“Darcy be sure to have those reports on my desk by today.” She walks into her office shuts the door and turns on the light. “What are you doing here?” she says while gripping her gun holster.
you shift around in her chair before speaking. “Relax, Monica. That’s not how you greet someone who’s going to be doing you a huge favor.”
“What can you possibly do for me miss y/l/n?”
“I can think of a few things.” You slowly scope her figure, top to bottom until you meet her eyes again. “But I’m here for business.”
“Business?” You hum in agreement. “Last time I checked you didn’t own anything, now get to the point before I arrest you.”
“Arrest me? If you want me in handcuffs all you have to do is, ask baby.” You wink at her. “I’m here to help you take Natasha down.” She’s utterly surprised by your confession. “Really?”
“I wouldn’t be here if I weren’t serious miss Rambeau.” She goes to correct the way you addressed her, but you cut her off again. “Everything you need to know is in this folder right here.”
“And you’re just giving this to me? Why? How do I know this isn’t a trick?” You check your nails already bored with her curious questions. “You’re asking too many questions, you’re smart. You know when something’s not right and this isn’t that.”
“You didn’t answer the question. Why?”
“Payback.” You shrug your shoulders.
“For what?” You release an exhausted breath. “You’re very nosy, aren’t you?” She challenges you by raising an eyebrow silently.
“Because she did this.” You point to the bruise on your face and your busted lip. Monica hadn’t even noticed it; she was too puzzled on your overall appearance in her office. “I’m sorry she did that to you.” She holds your hand on the desk.
“Do you want to report that while you’re here?” You laugh at her. “What’s that gonna do other than piss her off more?” She punches her eyebrows together. “It’s gonna show her that there are consequences for her actions. It’s gonna show her that it’s not okay to put her hands on you.”
“Do you even know who you’re talking about right now? None of those things matter… not to her, at least not anymore. She said she’d never hit me and here I am.”
“We can put you in witness protection.” You shake your head. “That’s useless she has power, and not just here. She has ears and eyes everywhere. Even coming here is a damn death wish on my part. Once she knows I’m gone she won’t stop until she finds me.”
“So, what happens when you give me this folder? Where are going to go?”
“Well, if you do your job correctly Nat will be in prison and everyone else involved. I’ll be long by then. If not, then she comes for me, and I need you to not let that happen.”
“I’ll try my best, if everything is in this folder like you say it is than we shouldn’t have a problem.”
“I don’t need you to try, I need you to do” your grip on her hand tightens when you don’t get the reassurance that you need. if you were going to give her up you need security that she wouldn’t be able to get out.
“You have my word.” You nod once releasing her hand that you didn’t even remember grabbing. “Then I’ll be on my way miss Rambeau.” She clears her throat and grabs your arm before you walk away from her desk. “That’s captain.” You turn your head with a slight smirk. “My apologies Captain Rambeau.” You whisper softly while gazing strongly into her brown eyes. “Is there anything else I can do for you?”
“Go lock the door and tell Darcy to forget about the reports for today.”
“Are you insane? I don’t know what you think this-“ you place your perfectly manicured finger against her lips. “Don’t, do that please.”
“Don’t, do what?”
“Act like you haven’t been giving me fuck me eyes underneath all that G.I Joe persona. If we’re doing this now is your only chance.” You can see the turmoil in her mind of doing this. She takes too long for your liking, and you move away from her to leave but she stops you bringing her lips to yours, very cautious of your wound.
“Took you long enough.” You tease her. “Shut up.” She does as requested, telling Darcy to forget about the reports today and to take lunch early. Monica takes her place in front of you waiting for further instructions.
“This doesn’t change anything; I’m still not going into witness protection.”
“You already made up your mind.” She shrugs, but deep down she was hoping you would come around at least then she’d be able to keep tabs on you. “Good, now unbutton your blouse and take it off…slowly” you quickly add that at the end. You lift her on to her mahogany waxed desk. Quick to attach your lips to her and the skin of her neck. “Mmh, what perfume is that?” The aroma invading your nostrils motivates you to finally slide your hand underneath her skirt. “D-Dior” she pants in your ear while you keep your focus on her neck. “It smells heavenly on you.” you could say you took a page out of your girlfriend’s book, you came here for business, but you ended up getting pleasure in the end.
———-
“Where the hell have you been?” She snatches your arm just as you make it through the front door.
“Out” her grip tightens.
“Out where?” You refuse to answer until she shakes you harshly. “I went shopping, I need fresh air.” you turn your face away from her.
“I was worried about you all day sweet face you can’t just leave whenever you want just because you’re upset with me.” She turns your face back to her and rubs your bruised lip softly. “I’m sorry.” She pushes her nose further into your neck. “Forgive me? I had Nora make your favorite. Lasagna.” You expected more graveling, and more begging than this. You give her the answer she was looking for just to get away from her and find a peaceful spot in the huge mansion.
“Okay.”
“Okay?” she’s taken aback by the lack of rebellion from you.
“Yeah, what else am I supposed to say?” You shrug and walk past her. It hits her right away and she instantly questions you. “What’s that smell?”
“What do you mean?”
“That’s not your usual fragrance that you use.”
“Oh right, I tried it on at the store, but I didn’t really want it.”
“It smells amazing on you, remind me the name of it so I can buy it for you.” She kisses you once more as you hum in agreement. “It’s Dior.” little did she know she was loving the scent of another woman. Another woman that would take her down for everything she’s ever done.
———-
“I want this whole perimeter secured. Block all exit points.” She exhaled softly. “Let’s finally take this bitch down.” Monica made sure to have the detectives in unmarked cars not wanting to alert Natasha of their arrival for her to escape. She walks to the front door ringing the bell. The door opens to a confused elder woman. “May I help you?” Nora goes weary when she spots the badge on Monica’s hip. “Hello ma’am is Natasha Romanoff home? I have some very important information for her.” Nora had the lie right on the top of her tongue before Natasha walks down the stairs making her presence known.
“It’s alright Nora, why don’t you go finish dinner.” Nora looks apprehensive to leave but does as she’s told. after Natasha gave her a stern look. Natasha clears her throat and calmly and elegantly walks down the stair meet Monica at the door. “What can I do for you miss?” She waits for an answer. “Captain Rambeau” Monica makes sure to put the emphasis on the word Captain. Letting her superior title be known.
“Right, well what do you want?” Natasha calmly raises an eyebrow at her. She wasn’t scared in the least. she had a good lawyer. she had money. They couldn’t hold her no matter how hard they try. It’s happened before she gets arrested and gets released within no time like nothing ever happened. But this time however was not like any of those other times. Monica holds the paper up in front of Natasha’s face as she read off the paper Monica pulls another paper out of her back pocket.
“We also have a warrant to search the place.” She hands her the paper. “But in the meantime, let’s get you situated.” She nods to the fellow detectives as the enter the house pulling Natasha to the side and the other roaming the mansion to get started on collecting evidence. “Get your fucking hands off of me you pig.” Natasha spits her words harshly at the detective.
“You have the right to remain silent anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law.” Natasha didn’t pay the detectives any mind as they read her Miranda rights. “Nora, call y/n and tell her what’s going on. Tell her to meet me at the station.” Monica has to fight off a smile as she knows you won’t be coming to rescue Natasha. There was nothing she could do but pay for her crimes. Monica walks over to Bucky just ask the other detectives search him and place him in the squad car along with Clint. Yelena gets shoved into the car with Natasha. Monica smiles victoriously as she witnesses the first step of getting things under control in the city.
----------------
Natasha sat in the interrogation room for hours not saying a word. they presented her with everything to documents and pictures and still she remained calm. on the inside she was caught off guard. how the hell could they have gotten this? there was a rat on her team, and she’d find out who it was, and when she does, she’ll make them wish they never double crossed her. Monica enters the interrogation room gloating in front of Natasha. “We’ve been after you a long time Miss Romanoff.”
“Sounds to me like you’re obsessed with me, sorry to let you down but I’m taken.” she smirks. Monica gets a little angry, how could she claim you like this after what she did to you? “I hope whoever she is she gets far away from you as possible; you don’t deserve anything good and pure in your life. and honestly if it were up to me, you’d be getting the chair instead of harsh sentencing.” she leans forwards on the metal table invading Natasha’s personal space.
“What’s that smell?” Natasha recognizes it but she doesn’t want to believe it. “It’s Dior.” Monica says flatly but she shifts to a smug and confident demeanor. “I’m sure your girlfriend would really like it.”  Monica kept her gaze locked in until she noticed a shift on Natasha’s face. “You dirty bitch!” her nose twitched slightly before she was quick to jump up from the table, she wasn’t able to do much damage with the cuffs on and the extra security, but it still scared Monica. she got the best of a few guards before they tased her and slammed her down on the cold old concrete floor. you ratted her out, not only her but everyone including Yelena.
Natasha always wanted to keep her sister safe, and you just handed her away on a silver platter just because you were upset about a mistake she made? there was a reason why she never let Yelena do too much dirty work. just in case something like this happened she would still have her freedom and you took that from her. not only did you snitch but you had the audacity to cheat on her with a goddamn cop? Natasha cannot wait to get out of here so she can find you and punish you for what you’ve done. she’ll be counting the days and she’ll be thinking of different ways to torture you. Monica says her farewells to the other officers in the room as she leaves out the room, she can hear Natasha shouting and having a tantrum about how she was going to get out of this and that she’d kill her forever touching you.
-----------------
You got what you wanted. The night you came back from Monica’s office you went into Natasha’s safe taking everything she had stashed inside the vault. It wasn’t like she’d be needing it anyway. Monica insisted on having a detective escort you to the airport.
You didn’t tell her where you were going you didn’t even know. You thought about doing something spontaneous. That was something you wanted to do with Nat, you wanted to go on the promised vacation trips. Now you would be doing that on your own. You would’ve loved to do it with Yelena, but you also had to turn her in just for extra safety precautions and you feel like shit for punishing her because of something her sister did.
The reality of it all was that she wouldn’t let you leave either. You know she wouldn’t. You are her only friend. her best friend. Yelena developed a strong bond with you there was no way in hell she would let you leave the city. She’d go just as crazy and manic as Natasha would when they realize your absence and what you’ve done.
Two months, you’re on two months of peace. Monica gave you her card for you to check in with her. It was time. You don’t know what the aftermath of everything and you honestly don’t want to know. You dial up Monica’s number and she picks up on the first ring. “Eager to talk to me captain?” The other end of the phone is silent you grow worried for a moment before you hear Monica release an exhausted breath. “Monica, what’s wrong?”
“We need you to testify, y/n.” Your mouth goes dry as you sit on the beach chair on your balcony. “Y/n, did you hear what I said?”
“Why the fuck do you need that from me? I gave you everything you needed.”
“It’s not as easy as it seems y/n we believe Natasha has influenced someone behind the scenes to rule in her favor.”
“What?” You had no knowledge of Natasha having connections to judges, you underestimated her power once again. “Shit.”
“I know, which is why we need you to testify against her.”
“No fucking way are you insane? I’ll be locked away somewhere when she gets ahold of me, never seeing daylight again. I betrayed her and Yelena you have no idea what will happen to me.”
“Well, if you don’t, she walks.”
“How long do I have?” you pace back and forth on the balcony ready to grab everything and catch the next flight to anywhere. you couldn’t stay in one place for too long anymore.
“Two days.” you pull the phone away from your ear. You close your eyes breathing through your nose and out your mouth to remain calm. “You promised me. You gave me your word!”
“No one saw this coming, y/n, I did the best I could.” her voice sounds desperate “Just...please come back and testify. I can protect you.” that was a load of shit. you don’t doubt that Monica would do everything she could to make sure you were safe, but she was no match for the red headed Russian. you couldn’t put yourself in that position you’re better off on your own.
“Y/n?” she gets nervous with the dead silence from you. she needed this. she needed Natasha to stay locked away.
“Goodbye, Monica.” you hang up in her not giving her an inch to say anything else. Looks like you were really gonna be bouncing from city-to-city, state to state and country to country. You can’t run forever, you’ll run out of money and when you do, she’ll be there to drag you back to that hell of a life she called a relationship.

a wish to be loved
CONTAINS BOOK 3 SPOILERS set right after the ava kiss scene, at least cece has great friends
fandom: the wayhaven chronicles words: 1,525 rating: general
read it on ao3
When the door shut behind Ava that sick yet familiar feeling of loneliness began to fill the space. It wound through her like tendrils, wrapping around her throat until she felt like she couldn’t breathe and plugging her ears until the rang. All she could feel was the rawness of her lips from being kissed, the heat on her thighs where Ava’s hands had lifted her, and the ache settling deep in her chest.
Cecilia knew what loneliness was more than most.
It was like a second home.
Every single person in her life who she had truly loved left her at some point.
It happened when she was seven and her dad died. Her favorite person in the entire world cruelly ripped away.
Then every time her mother chose work over her, leaving her with a random babysitter until Cecilia was deemed old enough to care for herself. After that, it was just Cecilia coming home from school to an empty house to cook herself dinner and put herself to bed hoping she might get a chance to see her mom in the morning, even if in passing.
There was no more childhood after Rook died.
Her poor heart was broken in so many ways, but this time might just be the one to leave it completely shattered when the woman she loved left her.
The dried tears from before were quickly replaced with fresh ones. Since the start of the kidnappings, it was like every time she wasn’t good enough was a new crack in her sanity. She was on the brink of disaster and was only held together by some shitty scotch tape at best.
Cecilia did her best to hide it, putting on a smile and making sure those around her were alright. If she focused on them it would allow her to not think about herself. She knew others could tell from the way Farah stared at her sometimes and even Nat when she thought Cecilia wasn’t looking. No one said anything outright.
She turned and caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror and suddenly it was like she was a child again. Dad dead. Mom busy working. Left to take care of herself even when she was raw and vulnerable.
Her eyes slid away from her reflection, unable to handle the memories any longer, and landed on the soft shape of the duck stuffy sitting on top of her dresser. It felt like a lifetime ago since the carnival and her and Ava’s “fake” date. Cecilia remembered her excitement when Ava handed the prize to her, claiming she had no use for it.
Cecilia loved that fucking duck. She had been so relieved that it hadn’t been ruined in her apartment accident.
She stood before it now, staring into its little glass eyes and it all suddenly became too much.
The first sob shook her and the ones following brought her to her knees as she cried.
She cried for her lost childhood. She cried because she was so damn lonely. And mostly, she cried because she wished someone would love her in the way she loved them.
*
At some point, Cecilia had made it to bed.
She lay on her side in the quiet darkness, stuffed duck nestled in her arms.
A hesitant knock sounded on the door. It opened before she could respond.
“Cece?” Farah called quietly into the room. “Can I come in?”
“Yeah,” she whispered.
Luckily the vampire didn’t need light to navigate the dark bedroom and crawled onto the bed quickly. “I’ll even let you be the little spoon,” Farah teased, slotting herself behind Cecilia beneath the covers.
Cecilia was grateful for her best friend’s comfort. A hand curled around Farah’s soft forearm as a few coils of hair tickled her cheek. The feeling of familiarity was a blessing as the smell of her friend’s soap and the slightest hint of cinnamon sliced through the dreaded loneliness.
“I would’ve come sooner but thought you might need some time,” she murmured.
She nodded. “Thank you,” Cecilia rasped, her voice hoarse from crying.
Farah was silent for a few seconds before saying, “We could always break into Nat’s special room and find her stash of old alcohol. Not like she’s going to use it. Besides, I think she’d let you do just about anything right now.”
That made Cecilia snort. “As tempting as that sounds, my head already hurts enough.”
She felt Farah shrug the shoulder not pressed against the mattress. “Fair. Offer still stands.”
It made Cecilia finally produce a small smile.
They lay there without saying much for a while. Cecilia wasn’t up for talking and Farah clearly understood. With someone else with her, she was finally feeling the exhaustion of her emotions surging forward until her eyelids were becoming heavier by the second. Farah had come dressed in her pajamas, having already intended to stay with her best friend as long as she was needed.
“Hey, Farah,” she whispered.
“Yeah?”
“I love you. You really are my best friend.”
Farah’s arm squeezed her tightly. “You’re my best friend too. I love you so much that I considered kicking Ava’s arms out from under her earlier so she would faceplant into the ground.”
Cecilia smiled, although she wasn’t quite sure what she was talking about. Still, she appreciated the sentiment.
*
She and Farah parted ways the next morning. Morgan had come and banged on Cecilia’s door trying to find Farah so they could go on their patrol. To say Farah was uncharacteristically irritated with Morgan after was an understatement.
Cecilia hugged her goodbye, smiling at the promise they would watch stupid movies later together when she returned.
Knowing it would be stupid of her to hole up in her room, Cecilia made the brave decision of venturing out into the kitchen. She pushed the thought of seeing Ava to the back of her mind while trying to ignore the way her stomach turned at the idea.
Thankfully, there was only Nat seated at the table, squinting at a crossword puzzle with her lips pursed. A pencil twirled absent-mindedly in her fingers.
“What’s the question?”
Nat looked up seeming a bit surprised by Cecilia’s presence. She recovered quickly though, looking back down to her paper. “Who don’t you put in a corner?”
Cecilia crossed the room to stand behind her and looked over her shoulder. “Baby.”
The woman twisted in her seat, a look of confusion pulled at her features. “Why on earth would you put a baby in a corner?”
She couldn’t help the laugh that escaped her. “No, the character’s name is Baby. It’s from the movie Dirty Dancing.” Cecilia took a seat in the chair next to Nat. “Why did you choose a pop culture crossword anyway?”
“Farah printed it out for me. She said it would keep me busy.” Nat paused, long fingers drumming on the table in thought. “I suppose she was right on the keeping me busy part because I have no idea what half of these words mean strung together like this.”
Cecilia smiled—until Nat truly looked at her in her Nat way that openly read I know you aren’t okay. Then her lips curled into a frown.
“Are you doing alright?” she asked, reaching over to place a hand on top of Cecilia’s.
She let out a long sigh. Her head still hurt from crying last night and she was sure her eyes were puffy so she looked a wreck. “I guess.”
Nat squeezed her hand. “You don’t have to be. It’s completely understandable.”
“I’m sure you already know what happened then,” Cecilia mumbled, suddenly unable to meet her eyes. Something about their friendly warmth made her feel unworthy.
“Secrets don’t seem to last long around here,” she said, then followed by, “Farah told me after she saw Ava in the hall.”
Cecilia stared at the pattern in the wooden grains of the tabletop. The muscles in her jaw were already beginning to ache from the way she clenched it. “It just…” she trailed off at first, finger tracing the space where her gaze went. “It just hurts.”
“What does?”
Swallowing hard, Cecilia finally met Nat’s concerned look. “Loving someone who doesn’t love you back. No, let me rephrase. Loving someone who feels the same but won’t let herself and breaks my heart over and over again in the process.”
Nat frowned but nodded in understanding.
She felt tears flooding her eyes once more. “I’m not strong anymore, Nat,” Cecilia whispered. “I feel like I’m falling apart. I don’t know how much more I can take.”
By the end, her voice was wobbling and Nat moved from her chair to kneel in front of Cecilia, pulling her into a hug. Cecilia clung to her tightly, willing herself not to break into tears all over again.
“I wish there was something I could do,” Nat whispered.
Out of the corner of her eye, Cecilia caught movement. She turned her head just in time to see the figure of Ava slinking back into the hallway and the mournful look clouding her face. “Me too, Nat. Me too.”

I’m bored so im just going to do this for my twc ships. I might do it for my other ships too, i don’t know. I don’t feel like writing but i want to talk about my blorbos.
Who would end a heated argument by defending their actions with ‘because I love you!’ ?
Valdam: Neither of them. If it had to be one, it would probably be Val. It would be semi-intentional or not at all, and it would be entirely desperate. For all that Adam is like ‘tu omina’ and ‘do it for me’ I don’t think they would use an ILU in that moment …
Kate: Nate! AND Kendis would learn him good. He would NEVER PULL that shit again.
Nai: Nat. Kai would tolerate it better than Kendis would
Feirre: Pierre. It would probably be more a whispered statement, like a confession and an apology. IF he ever did this. I won’t put him as a hard no, because while it’s not fully his vibe, he is his mother’s child.
Mandy: Andy. lmao. And he would deserve Mason punching him (only because he would say it in such an infuriating manner to deflect, lmao).
Clown Romance: Ava is the only person who would tolerate this from Nathaniel. Because Alexis would’ve already left and Kendis would be too busy giving him the finger. But Ava would pull an uno reverse with a ‘do it for me’ or ‘I’m doing this for you’ and NATHANIEL WILL LEARN FINALLY HOW IT FEELS.
Which one is more protective? Who needs to be ‘protected’?
This might be a bit of a cop out but all of them need to be protected, and all of them would protect the other, in different ways. Even Misters ‘this is just casual fucking’ Andy & Mason.
Describe their cozy night in.
Mandy: Sex. Eventually it’ll just be them being quiet old men, lmao. The activity will matter less than the fact that they’re doing it together, silence. Adult parallel play. I can see Andy taking up reading to Mason
Tareq x Ava: Watching soap operas and board games.
Clown Romance: I could see Kendis cooking, Nate cleaning up, Ava and Alexis setting up. Alexis picks the music or the entertainment. Dinner and a movie brought home. Maybe a trivia night? Three fourths of that polyam is heckin competitive.
Would they build a pillow fort together just because?
Feirre: Yes. Felix wouldn’t even have to ask that hard because Pierre would be so soft over how excited Felix is at the prospect (and it wont cause destruction soooooo). But Felix might regret it, because Pierre would get pedantic about measurements. It’s cool though, because Felix will be able to distract him and tease him. And sunshine man would win again.
Clown Romance: Yes. Even Alexis and Ava. Why? Because Kendis said so.
Do either try to hide their emotions if upset? Can the other still tell?
Kelendis: Yes. Yes. *hums ‘lucky i’m in love with my best friend*
Who’s the bigger tease?
Tareq & Ava: Tareq.
Feirre: Felix, but Pierre gives a good run.
All my N ships (why do I of all people have three N ships???) it’s Nat/e except for Clown Romance where my money is on Alexis.
Valdam: Adam, haha. LMAO.
How do their personalities compliment each other? How do they clash?
Valdam: They’re both pessimistic, lol. They’re both pragmatic and logical (surprisingly I know, in Val’s case) individuals. It is hard to describe it – but it isn’t so much they expect the worse, though they can, as they’re not fully surprised about the darker or more selfish aspects of others or the world. It’s a sorta ‘okay …’ / almost take it as it comes attitude. I’ve always said Adam’s acceptance of Val’s more “mercenary” side is what really has them working. They’re both very prone to justice and that drives them. Val is more duty-bound than they give themselves credit. I think Adam would encourage them not to approach it ironically but I think Val would bring back a zest to it for Adam, that sort of focus on the little guy and less what the agency-wills. They’re also both lonely and broken creatures, lmao. Though they have their teams, thankfully.
They are both stubborn. Val is impulsive, prone to childishness, and can lash out emotionally while Adam overthinks, is highly serious, and draws inward. They both strive to ‘annoy’, in a sense, when upset or … annoyed themselves. Adam being condescending, Val being a brat/raccoon.
Kate: They’re both very determined and optimistic. They’re the supportive type, the shoulder, the one that encourages. They take their responsibilities seriously and are hard-workers. They’re both homemakers. That said, Nate is infinitely more driven by his heart than Kendis is by hers – she’s big-hearted but she’s more wary about things than he is. So, he’d definitely encourage her to open up but she’d pull him back from getting his bleeding heart chopped up. They both love fancy and spending, but Kendis can balance a checkbook and is thrifty. So Nate would learn.
Kendis is infinitely more stubborn than Nate. He’s also more romantic, in general but specifically in terms of what they’re both looking for at the moment. Kendis has a temper and a mouth on them, and I feel that would cause trouble if the game was darker.
Do they always say 'i love you' before leaving?
Tareq & Ava: Tareq, obviously.
Feirre: Felix, but Pierre catches onto the habit too. Maybe not as much as Felix, but he expresses it in other ways.
Can they stay up all night just talking?
Kelendis: I’ll say yes. But more Kendis with the chats.
Feirre: Yep.
Who's more likely to pull the other in by the waist and kiss them passionately?
Nai: Nat. But Kai DOES have his moments.
Tareq & Ava: Tareq.
How likely are they to have fur babies? How many and what kind?
Feirre: Yes. I think Felix convinces Pierre when he sees how the cats in the building love him, so they get one cat. Ends up loving Felix more, but Pierre doeesn’t mind.
Clown Romance: So many. Any kind Kendis can get their hands on. Once in their original ‘verse they adopted an extinct lizard (brought back to life by magic) and brought home a creepypasta deer and everyone had to be like YOU CAN’T KEEP IT KENDIS, and they were like I KNOW. but …. Did they? Did they really know?
Choose one song that perfectly describes their relationship.
Nai:  The More I See You by Nat King Cole
Feirre: Maybe not 100% but 90% Someone To You by BANNERS

Tumblr media
You groan quietly as a headache rang in all corners of your head, trying to reach to caress your booming skull is when you take note that you were unable to move your arms as they were bond to the arms of a wooden chair.
The panic set in, and frantically, your head moved to take in your surroundings. It was unfamiliar only lit by a dim lamp sitting on a crooked table in a corner. Squinting you tried to find anything that would indicate where you were, but all your efforts are in vain as the dim light only helped your vision so far.
You settled for closing your eyes and focus on your hearing trying to detect anything, motion or a voice but that turned out to be fruitless as all you could hear was the beating of your own racing heart.
Eventually, you're not sure how long, but you could finally hear something other than the rhythm of your own heart, a light tapping of metal against metal. it isn't consistent, almost teasing until it comes to a complete stop, making you almost whine in retaliation.
You shiver slightly as the eerie silence returns, begging to whatever higher power to break the silence again as it was truly deafening. Seemly answered, when you hear the crunching of a leather glove clad hand gripping your shoulder.
"Don't make a sound. You don't want to disturb the peace, do you krolik?".
Any attempts to turn your head were intercepted by the hand on your shoulder, keeping your head facing the dim light by grabbing onto your neck with a pointer finger resting on your jaw line. Firm but gentle. All you could place was that your captore was female and her voice was accented and quite heavenly.
"Why am I here?"
The voice hums before you can feel the breath of your captore brushing against your neck. "You, my little lamb, were somewhere you shouldn't be." You're ashamed at the rush her voice sends through your body, then you allowed the confusion to wash over you.
"Wrong place?"
"Didn't mommy ever tell you to be careful walking in the nights all alone?". It's rhetorical, but you're immediately transported to the night you had just gotten off your night shift as a nurse and decided you wanted to walk home. However, nothing in your memory could warrant your current locality.
"You seem confused,so let me clear the air." The voice says before you're face to face with a red head with striking green eyes and a realization washes over you. You've seen this face the very night you were walking home, but the only difference was the sociopathic look on her face as she repeatedly stabbed a defenceless man as he pleaded for mercy. Her eyes had met yours that were filled with shock and the chilling grin on her face widened as she stocked towards you.
You immediately ran when she was two steps in and unconsciously erased the memory from your mind. The mystery woman smirks when she notices you pale with realization.
"Now I don't take kindly to people seeing my face lamb, hence why there's no one is alive to remember it." The sinister smile on her face sends a rush down to your core, leaving you embarrassingly wet.
"Are you going to kill me?".
The mysterious red head stood behind you again, resting both her hands on your shoulder, a knife nesting between her right palm and your skin as she brought her lips to your ear again.
"I'll tell you what sweets, that was the plan, but it'd be such a waste of such a beauty, so what I'm gonna do is tell you my name."
Your eyes make one now as she should in front of you bent by the torso grip on your shoulder still prominent. "So you'll know what to say when I have you screaming."
You shiver but disheartened when it's not in fear but at rush of her taking you right then and there. Your thighs unconsciously clutched when the whisper of her name in your ear before she takes an earlobe between her teeth before releasing and standing straight.
Your captore freed your arms and legs, half expecting you to run, but is pleasantly surprised when you stayed sat and looking at her expectantly.
"You're not gonna run?".
"You'd catch me."
"Smart girl, but you're not even gonna try?"
"Why waste the energy?"
The red head is astound at the look of pure desire behind your eyes, a contrast to the usual fear when her other victims cast their eyes on her. It's almost refreshing, causing an uncomfortable tightness in her jeans.
Relieving the pressure by unbuttoning her jeans and dropping her zipper, you have a clear view of her extra appendage clad in black boxers and lick your lips greedily. Your captore amused.
"With everything that you know now yet all you can focus on is my cock. Fucking whore. Since you're so interested, let's see how you take it."
You're pleasantly surprised by her size when her pants and underwear pool at her ankles but take it gracefully when the woman slams into the back of your throat.
Surprised for the third time that night at your lack of gag reflex natasha as you know her now fucked your mouth roughly fingers intertwining behind your head for leverage.
Natasha watches as you salivated on her dick with each thrust, unaffected by it, hitting the back of your throat combined with the almost puppy like eyes you're giving her almost make her combust.
Using the grip on your head, she still her movements before pulling out cause a groan to slip past your lips.
"Be quiet. I want to be comfortable." The woman said before sitting where you were once bound dragging you slightly in between her legs where her cock glistening in your spit stood proud.
"Well, you want it so bad. Take it."
You take her in your mouth again deep in your throat before swallowing around her tip, eliciting at deep groan and a slight arch from the woman. The combo of your warm mouth and addition of your hand moving up and down her shaft has her coming undone with you swallowing every last drop.
Natasha watched in admiration as you released her dick from your mouth, a string of saliva keeping you both connected, and you kneel patiently with innocent eyes waiting on her next command.
In the blink of an eye, you're back in the chair, thighs thrown over the wooden arms with your bottom half exposed, and without a word, the red head mouth is where you need her most.
Natasha allowed herself to take gentle licks between your folds, savouring the taste of your essence before she felt it was a bit too sentimental, resorting to harshly sucking on your clit cause your hips to buck at the sudden change of pace.
The older woman used one arm to keep you still at the waist as she continued to eat you out hungrily her body sat on one knee while her other foot was planted firmly on the ground as she continued her admistrations.
The room is filled with your pornographic moans when two lengthy fingers enter your hole pumping into you deliciously, an expert tongue works on your clit. You pull on the red head's hair while moving your hips in circular motions, and it's not too long until you're riding out you high on her fingers with your lips molded together in a sweet kiss.
"I think you'll need to be more comfortable for the next part, kotenok." Natasha gave you no time to reply before taking your sweaty body for the dark room into one with a bed sitting in the middle of the room covered with blood red slip sheets.
Natasha wasted no time dropping your body on the bed, pulling your lower half to the edge, bringing your legs to wrap around her waist. Rubbing her cock through your folds to lubricate it before pushing into you. Her thrusts are long and rough. Pulling out of you almost completely before ramming back into you.
Natasha took time to appreciate the bludge in your stomach every time her cock entered you even stopping for a moment to trace to out line with her finger.
You, on the other hand, were suffering at the agonising pace and wanted nothing more for her to go faster, which natasha completely ignored when you were brave enough to plead with her.
"You take what I give you, kotenok. Be satisfied, or you get nothing at all.
That was enough to shut up and take what natasha saw fit. Before you know it, you're on all fours mewling as the older woman pounds into you. The headboard slammed into the wall at the strength of her thrusts.
Natasha brings an arm to slap your ass that recoiled when it makes contact with her thighs. The stinging sensation makes your back arch further and ypu became a panting pathetic mess when the new position has the older woman's cock hitting that velvety spot repeatedly.
Natasha made slow and soft strokes hitting that soft spot so sweetly you're ready to tumble over the edge but with a strict demand to hold it has you biting the pillow and clutching the sheets to obey the command.
When the thrust starts to get sloppy, you know she's not too far behind, and after a few more hard thrusts, your toes curl as the both of you release at the same time, natasha making sure to prevent any drop of her seed from escaping you as she helped you ride out your high before your body collapsed on the mattress.
"I hope you know you're never leaving after that"
"It's a good thing I didn't want to."
Natasha chuckled lightly before laying to spoon you, dick still sitting nicely in you. The movement brought an involuntary moan from your lips, and the woman behind you shushed you gently while rubbing the prominent bludge on your tummy.
"Where's your moral compass?" The older woman chuckled in your ear.
"I guess it lost all form of direction."

The One I Want: Part 6
Jake "Hangman" Seresin x plus size!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: You’re new in town and some guy named Jake is about to be your roommate. Being skeptical of new people keeps you lonely and uninterested in any entanglements, but Jake is desperate to change that.
Notes/Warnings: mentions of physical abuse. probably cursing, but idk. insecurity and vulnerability. I'm sure there are typos.
Words: 2825
The One I Want Masterlist
Jake’s eyebrows pinch in confusion at the shifting expression on your face, then he follows your line of sight over his shoulder. Though he’s still yards away from you, you hear the soft ‘damn it’ that leaves his mouth. He’s out of his seat in the next half-second, Rooster quickly joining him.
“How is she here?” Jake asks as you ease behind him.
“I have no idea,” Bradley says.
Sifting his hand through his hair, Jake curses again as if the woman making her way toward the group is a ticking bomb they’re running out of time to dismantle. “Can you and Millie take her back to the apartment?”
“Your girl?”
“Yes. I don’t know what Brit will say, but I don’t want it directed at her. When Brit realizes she’s my roommate—”
Rooster nods. “Enough said.”
“Thank you.” Jake whips around and his head jerks back in surprise—his mouth parts. A new shade appears to travel up his neck to his cheeks, but the pinkish hue could easily be mistaken for the fiery glow of the bonfire reflecting off his skin. “How long have you been standing there?”
“Just a minute,” you say. “Who is she?”
Nat and Bob pull up on either side of you and you notice how all sets of eyes are glued to the woman who is still too far away to identify properly. Though, despite her distance and that you’d asked Jake for confirmation, she’s no mystery to you. She’s undoubtedly the woman from the gift shop. What you don’t understand is the intensity of everyone's reactions.
Nat crosses her arms and with a frown, says, “Jake, how does she know you’re here?”
It’s a question that goes unanswered, but you suspect it’s not one that has an answer. They’re all shocked; no one pilot more or less confused than another.
Ignoring both your question and Nat’s, Jake places his hands on your forearms to regain your attention. “Rooster and Millie are going to take you back to our place, alright?”
“Jake, why—”
“I just need to deal with this,” he interrupts, a barely detectable plea hidden within his tone. “I’ll get rid of her and then I’ll be home.”
Your breath catches at his wording. Get rid of her. You suddenly don’t care about the irritation swirling around the group or the stress on Jake’s face. Time slows. You’re shot back to a life you’ve been trying to forget. A life that had you so often discarded you'd learned to rid people of yourself before they could do it for you.
“Does she deserve to be gotten rid of, Jake?” you ask, just above a whisper, for him and only him.
He flinches as if you slapped him, but he doesn't release you, and a bulge briefly forms in his throat before, bit by bit, the hurt infects the features of his face. He looks down to where his fingers are wrapped around your arms and squeezes, so light and gentle that were you not sensitive in the moment--hyperaware of every movement and sound--you wouldn't have felt it.
His hands slide down to your fingers, the pads of his fingertips resting under yours, his thumb grazing along the nail of your index finger. When his eyes flick up to yours, he says, “I’ll explain later."
The woman is close enough now that you can see the harsh scrutiny in her gaze as she looks you up and down. It morphs into a glare when she notices Jake’s hands on you, and she picks up in speed.
“If we’re going, it needs to be now,” Rooster says. “Baby,” he calls out for Millie, “We gotta go.”
She leaps up and rushes over to take his hand. The smile she directs at you is forced. “I was gettin’ tired anyway.”
Rooster and Millie drop you off with matching tense faces that look misplaced on both of them; appearing so odd you can’t help but stare hard at the crease in Rooster’s brow reflecting back at you in the rearview mirror. Despite only getting to know these people tonight, you suspect the mood filling this car is uncommon, especially when these two are within a foot and a half of one another while their hands are clasped and resting on the center armrest.
“Jake will be back soon,” Rooster says as you exit the vehicle.
Then Millie adds a syrupy sweet, “I loved meetin’ you. If you ever wanna get together, let me know. I could use another friend in this town.”
Momentarily, you forget Jake in favor of the redhead smiling at you through the rolled-down passenger window. You could use another friend, too. Someone who isn’t so perfectly formed from the outside world's perspective. Someone who might be able to understand you.
“I’d like that,” you reply.
Rooster waits until you’re through the door of the building before peeling out of the lot and back down the street.
When you make it into the apartment, you’re not entirely sure what to do. Everything you could do to distract yourself, whether it be cleaning or reading or watching TV, you won’t be able to put any heart into. They’d be useless distractions. You opt instead to take a seat on the couch and wait. But then the waiting grows boring, so you start to think.
Get rid of her. Get rid of her. Get rid of her.
There’s a layer of bitterness coating the roof of your mouth that you can’t swallow.
You just started settling into the idea that Jake could be different—good. His heart isn’t something he appeared to hide from you and the more time you spend around him, the more honest you’ve sensed him to be. Your resistance has yet to deter or turn him sour. Regardless of how you act, he still smiles at you every morning. He still makes you coffee and picks you up from work and wants you to spend time with his friends. He tries to integrate you into his life, but now you’re not sure for what purpose if this is how he views women. Disposable.
You can feel it begin to crush you from all sides as you imagine the day Jake will look at you differently. The way he looked at her.
Jake is worn down when he enters the apartment and finds you on the living room couch, your spine locked pin-straight. His eyes have lost their light, there is potentially a new fine wrinkle across his forehead, and his lips are pulled so tight they almost disappear. He’s so altered from the happy man of an hour ago. In fairness, you are as well.
When he sees you, Jake smiles softly, weakly. It doesn’t reach his eyes. “You alright?” he asks.
You hadn’t considered a plan for addressing the event Jake didn’t allow you to witness, so it is your unprocessed emotions from the last hour that have you ignoring his question in favor of fueling what next comes out of your mouth. “She’s your girlfriend, isn’t she?”
Jake’s brow pinches as he crosses his arms. There’s no anger behind it; almost disappointment that you’ve reached such a conclusion. “What makes you say that?”
“I saw the mug in the trash. She got it at the gift shop where I work. A shirt, too, that matches.”
The strain of his shoulders releases and his head falls back a bit, like that knowledge was the very last thing he needed you to have. “Fuck,” he groans, straightening his neck. “Of all the goddamn shops in this town…” His head shakes, then his eyes lock onto yours. “She’s not my girlfriend.”
“Was your girlfriend.”
“Not that either. She’s just…She lived here. Before you.”
Your hands tighten into fists that lightly press into the couch cushions. “Did you kick her out?”
“Not exactly,” he says. “She was month-to-month, and the month was up.”
“That doesn’t explain the mug, or the shirt.”
Your words are spewing so fast, every held in question breaking out, and you don’t dare stop yourself. You need to know if you’re correct. You need the explanation he promised you to confirm your suspicions. You need it.
“You were sleeping with her, right?” You ask, though you’re already positive that’s what birthed the issues between him and that woman. “You slept with her and now she has feelings for you so you won’t let her stay here anymore…Right?”
The hurtful look that you’d caused at the beach reforms on his face, and it’s a deep stab into your chest, a mix of frustration and regret. “It’s more complicated than that.”
“Sounds simple to me,” you snap. “Is this what you do? You sleep with women until it’s no longer convenient for you?”
“No! God, no. It’s not like this is my thing. She lived here and we got involved for three months. That was it,” he explains in a rush. “It wasn’t ever going to be anything more than sex, not to me, and when she realized that, she lost her shit, Ok? Broke things. Threw things. Hit me. I couldn’t let her stay here forever. I’m not some heartless dick, it just got out of hand.”
When he’s done, his chest is rising and falling like a man just off a five-mile run. He swallows hard, dragging a hand down his face in the silence that follows.
It’s not a silence you know how to break. It’s a silence that demands you feel the full force of that stab wound in your chest, now shoved deep enough into your body to slice you right down the middle. Frustration is gone, easily overpowered by regret.
In a matter of ten seconds, Jake flipped over everything you had prematurely decided about the story between him and the woman. When you saw how she looked at you tonight and heard what Jake said, you thought you identified with her, that you’ve felt what she feels, that only you could see a swirling well of pain under her layer of anger. But as Jake stands before you, exhausted and desperate for you to understand, you realize you never considered that it’s with him you identify. Maybe it’s why pushing him away is much harder than anyone from your past. Maybe it’s why you want to believe he is good and genuine and kind. And maybe it’s why you’re realizing with each passing day that if you leave this town, you might not get away without also leaving a bit of yourself behind. Over the past months, you have—by subconscious mind or soul—connected with Jake Seresin through the pain you didn’t even know he’d faced.
Jake steps around one of the chairs opposite the couch and his body falls into it like a ragdoll.
“Does–” you begin, testing your voice. It’s meeker than you would like. “Does your team know what she did? Is that why they were so bothered when she showed up tonight? Everyone went into hyper-defense mode.”
He sits up, more at ease now that you’ve let go of your accusations. “They know she gave me trouble. They don’t know she would smack me or break my shit whenever I refused to treat her like my girlfriend.”
“Why?”
“If I told them while it was going on, they would’ve been pissed that I was letting her stay for a couple more weeks. They would’ve shown up at my door with a net to toss over her and drag her out,” he says, leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees. His hands clasp and one thumb runs back and forth over the other. “And I don’t tell them now because, even though it's over, the lecture would last days.”
“With everything she was doing, didn’t you want her out as soon as possible?”
“Of course I did, but she didn’t have anywhere to go yet,” he says. “Eventually, I found her a place and paid for six months in advance. She’s got about three more months before she has to take over the lease.”
As he speaks, a dash of hypocrisy weasels its way into your system. A defensiveness that you’ve never used to protect yourself instantly latches on to Jake.
You want him to tell his friends about what he’s been through, though you refuse to toss him the measliest crumbs from your own story. You want to explain to him that he shouldn’t have sacrificed himself in his effort to remove that woman from his life, while also ignoring the fact that self-sacrifice is the only option you’ve ever chosen. You want him to tell you everything he’s ever felt so he can remove the boulder from his back, as long as he doesn’t request the same of you. But you know Jake doesn’t work that way. With a given inch, he goes for a mile, and you can’t risk that.
“Does she bother you often?” you ask.
“There are days when she shows up out of nowhere, not unlike tonight, either pissed off all over again about everything that went down,” he nudges his head in the direction of the trash can, “or sickeningly sweet and asking to come back with gifts in hand.”
From that alone, you know Jake Seresin is stronger than you. He stands firm in one place despite the chaos that sporadically comes and goes from his life. He stakes his claim, choosing to remove the problem rather than consider that he is the problem and must be the one removed. But you can see, no matter how strong, it takes its toll on him.
What comes over you next, you’re not quick enough to stop. You stand and find a new seat on the glass coffee table across from him, not fighting the closeness that gives your knees no choice but to be tucked between his. When your touch lands atop his clasped hands, they immediately untangle and, much like your legs, your hand becomes encased. Were you with anyone else, you’d feel trapped, one step away from prisoner. But here, now, with Jake, your body isn’t pulling away.
“I’m sorry,” you whisper.
Though his head is lowered, he nods and you catch a hint of his half-hearted smile. Then he flips his hand so your palm is face-down on his, and with his other hand traces the edges of your fingers, from thumb to pinky and back. You try to ignore the zips and tingles that shoot up your arm from his soft motions. You fail.
“Jake, why do you even bother with a roommate? I know you can afford this place on your own.”
“I don’t like to be alone,” he says, still lazily running his touch up and down the curves of your fingers.
“How come?”
That finger ceases its gentle tracing and he looks up. He’s suddenly much closer. Less inches remain between your nose and his, your eyes and his, your lips and his. “How about this…” His breath holds a heat that brushes your cheeks. “I tell you something; you tell me something.”
When you instinctively lean back a few inches, you swear he moves forward, like a magnet chasing after its partner. Your hand starts to slip and his palm shifts so his fingers can curl up through the spaces between yours.
“Like what?” you ask.
“Something about you.”
His eyes hold yours, that increasingly intoxicating shade of mossy green unwavering. His touch seems to extend past the warmth of his grasp, now flowing through you from head to toe.
“What do you want?” you let out an awkward chuckle to distract yourself, and hopefully Jake as well, from the heat flushing your cheeks. “My favorite color?”
“Your favorite color is green,” he says. “I want to know something more than that, if you’re willing to share it.”
You search for any meaning behind what he says other than the one you know he’s after. He doesn’t just want something more, he wants something that means more. Something deeper that will put a crack in your shell. Something that will bring you closer to him.
To your surprise, it’s not a thought you immediately banish. Giving him more would, in theory, aid the budding connection you're not sure you want to break. But what you have to give might very well break that connection anyway. It could bring him a clarity you’d rather he not have as to why you are the way you are. If your story is too much for him to accept without altering how he sees you, you will pack up and leave solely for the escape, to avoid witnessing the rapid change of his treatment of you. And whatever he has to share in exchange couldn’t possibly have you viewing him as negatively as he might view you.
“It’s a fair trade, don’t you think?” he says, “So, what do you say?”
