Okuda tugged at the hems of her sleeves anxiously. The end of winter break marked the start of a new term, where more burdens than ever were stacking upon their backs. It almost felt as if the stakes had risen unknowingly. The shallow waters they had been idling in were beginning to rise, the tide pulling them down mercilessly before they knew it. How long until the surface carrying all the stress and worries finally swallow them whole?

She wished there was a way to distract her mind from the concerns that grew more and more. She wish she could join her friends, participating in carefree activities that would let them forget about their responsibilities for even one second. Okuda only found herself growing ever the more distant from everyone else.

Now walking to school for the first time in weeks, she wasn't sure if she was ready to approach everything again. The murky grey clouds rolled in, barricading the blue sky from blanketing them with at least a more hopeful air. She glanced at them wistfully, somehow hearing the mundane silence of it all.

Okuda stopped at an intersection. She felt her body tense up when she noticed Hayami walking from the opposite end, heading towards the centre of the crossing. She had not expected to come across any of her classmates this early, even less Hayami.

She naturally averted her gaze, unable to meet the seemingly aloof girl in the eyes. There had always been a noticeable gap between her and Hayami. She emanated a cold aura that kept her at arms length from Okuda.

At times, she found herself wondering if there would be a day where they could build a bridge, build an unlikely connection. She admired Hayami in many aspects, but alas, her own fears stopped herself from approaching her coolheaded classmate.

"You take this route to school too?"

Okuda nearly jumped. Hayami's voice was smooth and placid, her tone gentle. But the statement that was serenely delivered out-of-the-blue was an unexpected greeting, an act that promptly caused the silent demeanours of the two to slowly ripple away. Okuda could feel Hayami's eyes resting upon hers as she slowly turned to face her.

"Yes!" Okuda replied, hoping that she did not come across as too shaken up from the initial surprise. "But.. how come I don't see you here often?"

"I usually don't leave the house at this time. This morning, I woke up earlier than usual." Hayami took a step forward, but her gaze remained on Okuda's. "I usually don't have a friend to walk with. Should we get going?"

Friend. Okuda nodded, her heart about to burst from the sudden emotions that surged within her. The warmth of gratitude, joy, and relief, blossoming in forms of soft tinted flowers amidst the barren winter.

The classmate of few words had acknowledged her as a friend. Hayami was not often one to initiate the conversation. The small exchange lingered in Okuda's mind as they walked.

"Hayami, thank you for talking to me just then!" It was Okuda's turn to sputter a statement out of the blue.

Hayami looked bemused, but her lips quirked into a faint smile. "Of course. It's the first step to forming a connection, isn't it?"

Okuda recognised those words. "Koro-sensei said that to you too?"

"He does to you too?" Hayami let out a chuckle.

The wind whistled tenderly, carrying the gentle exchange of two soft-spoken girls. Drifting, winding its way through the crannies of the glum neighbourhood and between the fissures of the dry sidewalk. It graced the cold morning with a warm air, bestowed by warm hearts.

"Koro-sensei's words are really amazing." Okuda beamed.

And Okuda felt like she could see Hayami's heart for the first time, the walls that were built from her own fears disintegrating to wisps of dust. They were not as worlds apart as she assumed.

"What else would Koro-sensei say at times like these?" She asked on.

"Understanding is truly a gift," Hayami noted. "And expressing yourself is important too. That's what I've always admired about you."

"Th-thank you!" Okuda bowed her head slightly, flustered. "Koro-sensei also would say being composed and tactical is key to all fields of work. I admire that about you, Hayami."

When she looked back up, Hayami was facing her with a friendly grin. "Thanks."

Koro-sensei often emphasised the gift of seeing the good in everyone, despite all odds. When two possessed that gift, it was only a matter of time before the distance was bridged.

That was the day the unlikely connection was built.

After 2.0 threatens the class, they decide to go save Irina, but what’s this? Is Okuda holding a flask? But upon closer inspection it looks like a spray bottle/ flask combo.

I know it’s likely a gag, but I love how she holds it seriously like a weapon. Maybe she’s created some sort of corrosive fluid that she can spray into people’s eyes or something. Maybe this is her weapon. While everyone fetches guns and knives, Okuda grabs her chemicals.

This idea randomly crept into my brain and now I have to get it out of my system:

A Liar Game AU (manga, not the drama) of Assassination Classroom with Karma as the genius swindler (Akiyama) and Okuda as the foolishly honest university student (Nao).

Asano would assume Yokoya’s role and Fukunaga’s role would probably go to Irina (or I dunno, maybe Nakamura could work too?).

Obviously, there would be tweaks to character backstories and the like to be more in line with the AssClass canon though.

Itona and Ritsu aren’t in official groups, so I put them in where I thought they’d fit in best!

1. Isogai, Mimura, Nakamura, Okano

Wow...I forgot that Nakamura and Okano were ever in the same group

But I love it because I HC their friendship to be a casual but hella fun one

Isogai and Mimura are old friends from last year! I imagine there’s slight awkwardness on Mimura’s side given that they’re in different friend groups now. But Isogai is very friendly and aware, so it passes pretty soon

Nakamura is one of the biggest causes of Isogai’s headaches lmao. But hey, at least they’re on the same wavelength academically.

POOR OKANO. SHE IS A JOCK SURROUNDED BY ACADEMICS.

Well at least she’s interested in science and it’s her best subject. She still feels bored unless they’re dealing with physics, then she’s completely on top of her game.

Nakamura and Okano are the chaotic half. Isogai and Mimura are the ones who wanna get shit done. Unless the girls manage to drag poor Mimura into doing dumb stuff

Have I ever told you guys that once in my Chemistry lab, one of my friends and I managed to break the sink faucet? Like we destroyed it lmfao

Okano is one of Isogai’s most dependable close friends, but she also loves to annoy him for no reason sometimes.

So she’ll ask obvious questions with a smug smile, trying to watch his patience explode. But jokes on her because Isogai has an infinite amount of patience sadly

2. Kurahashi, Yada, Takebayashi, Kimura

They’re a...fairly productive group lmao

Tbh I don’t think Kurahashi is the type to really pay attention to any science outside of biology like me

So she’ll be a BEAST when it comes to that and get 100′s on everything. But like in chem and physics, she’s not as great

Yada is the best at design and organization, so she always takes that job. Making colorful presentation slides? She got it. Need to type up the final report in a google doc? Yep, she’s your girl

Kimura is a gremlin, like I always say. He’s the clown of the group lmfao and will spend more time stalling and messing around than doing actual work

He also tends to lowkey distract Kurahashi with unrelated convos. He tries to talk to Yada too, but she goes into girlboss mode and ignores him

Guys, everyone give it up for Takebayashi. King is hard carrying this entire group

He’s the one who stays the most focused but on occasion can be distracted by Kimura bringing up topics they’re both into, like certain comics or something.

Kurahashi and Yada also can get caught up in their own conversations since they’re besties. Also they will roast the boys all they want, if they feel like it.

All around, they’re kind of a mediocre group haha

3. Nagisa, Kayano, Maehara, Kataoka, Ritsu

Woah I LOVE this combination of students

I couldn’t help but add Ritsu here hehe. I also like the idea that she’s kind of attached to Kataoka in the beginning, considering all their moments together in canon.

Nagisa and Kataoka act like parent friends, as usual. They’re the ones who wanna work diligently and just get things done.

Maehara and Kayano are the more lenient ones haha. They’ll claim that they have low attention spans. Both Kayano and Maehara much prefer labs and getting to do cool science stuff, at least.

Also!! It’s good that they’re in this group because they’re social types who can reach out to other groups and get help/answers from them ^^

Kataoka, sighing: “Well, Maehara, at least you have a talent for networking, I guess.”

Ritsu is in between the lenient side and the diligent side. She’s very good at science and can do her work very well!! But sometimes she gets swayed by Maehara and Kayano’s fun attitudes and doesn’t concentrate haha

Kayano keeps getting flustered whenever she’s sitting right besides Kataoka haha. Bonus points if their arms brush or she has to lean over her or something.

Also best believe there’s lots of Big-brother-Maehara and Little-brother-Nagisa moments

4. Kanzaki, Hazama, Yoshida, Muramatsu, Terasaka

So...this is basically just AU where Kanzaki joins the Disaster Squad lmfao

Hazama, Yoshida, Muramatsu, and Terasaka are already besties, we know this. They’re probably totally used to working together.

Enter Kanzaki. A newcomer.

Lmao I don’t think she’d be totally friendly at first. I think she’d be polite but distant, and barely speak up unless they were discussing.

Sgsjhakdj who thought putting the squad together was gonna lead to productivity, they’re probably gonna create so much chaos lmao

Something definitely explodes at least once.

They’re dealing with an acidic chemical and literally the whole class manages to not get burned, except for Terasaka.

Yoshida voice: “dude you had ONE job”

After a couple classes, Kanzaki breaks out of her shell more and more, and she gets pretty chill with them.

She’s closest with Hazama, and they like to roast the boys at times. Also have random literature discussions that drive Terasaka crazy. “Can y’all not? Like this is literally physics class?”

The squad teasing Yoshida about his crush on Kanzaki whenever he blushes or stutters talking to her

Idk why but I really like the idea of a Kanzaki and Muramatsu friendship

5. Hayami, Okuda, Karma, Chiba, Okajima

AWKWARD

Chiba and Karma definitely join forces to insult Okajima at some point

Okajima kind of constantly digs himself into a grave with stupid comments. He almost dies after pointing out how Karma and Hayami act like cats

Okuda doesn’t have to carry the group that much since they’re all fairly smart for the most part. But if you want verified answers, then yeah definitely check in with her

6. Sugino, Fuwa, Hara, Sugaya, Itona

I think this is a really cute and funny group

Sorry, couldn’t resist adding Itona mainly because Hara is in it, and I would love their interactions in a schoolwork-group setting

Tbh?? None of them are very sciency lmao, so they’re that one group you always see in irl class that are very lost. And they’re super vocal about how confused they are adjkhjda

Sugaya, yelling across the room: “Can someone help us? Please?”

Hara takes the reins as leader but more in like a “getting everyone organized and harmonious” way

Sugino takes the charge in the actual lesson work and lab stuff, but he really shouldn’t lmao. I love the boy, he’s a talented genius in so many ways, but he leads them to chaos

Fuwa surprisingly isn’t as vocal in these groups as she usually is. In fact, it’s a little concerning how quiet she- WAIT FUWA ARE YOU REALLY WRITING FANFICTION IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR LAB

Itona, as usual, is around to make blunt and sarcastic comments that are in no way helpful. If you voice this to him, he will insult your intelligence even more while still looking adorable

I feel like...while the group descends into confused chaos, Itona just watches with blunt criticisms. Then in the very last seven minutes of class, he takes over and finishes the assignment with 100% accuracy

K-On!, in giapponese けいおん! Keion!, è un manga scritto e disegnato da Kakifly, pubblicato in Giappone dal maggio 2007 al giugno 2012. Il titolo della serie deriva dalla parola giapponese con cui si indica la musica leggera, cioè keiongaku (軽音楽).

Dal manga è stata realizzata una serie animata, in due stagioni (la prima di 13 episodi e la seconda di 24). Ciò che è interessante è il modo in cui vengono differenziate le due stagioni: nella seconda, infatti, non abbiamo “K-ON! 2”. La prima stagione si intitola K-On!, mentre la seconda K-On!!, con due punti esclamativi. Al termine di entrambe le stagioni è stato trasmesso un OAV: uno uscito nel gennaio del 2010, l’altro nel marzo 2011. Il 2011 è stato anche l’anno in cui è uscito il film cinematografico della serie. La differenza tra OAV e film cinematografico sta semplicemente nella durata: un OAV viene trasmesso in TV, perchè generalmente la sua durata si attesta tra i 20 massimo 45 minuti. Quello che consideriamo corto o mediometraggio.

In Italia, il manga è stato pubblicato da J-Pop dal giugno 2012 all’ottobre 2013, mentre l’anime è inedito. Nel luglio 2018 è iniziato il seguito del manga, intitolato K-On! Shuffle.

La trama vede quattro studentesse, Yui Hirasawa, goffa e poco brillante nello studio, ha l’abilità di saper accordare la chitarra ad orecchio, nonostante non abbia mai imparato a suonarla; Mio Akiyama, bassista del gruppo, è incredibilmente timida; Ritsu Tainaka, presidente del club e batterista del gruppo, vivace e iperattiva; e Tsumugi Kotobuki, spesso viene chiamata semplicemente Mugi, è dolce e gentile, è la tastierista del gruppo ed è colei che rifornisce il club di tè e dolciumi; iscriversi al club scolastico di musica leggera, per fare in modo che non sia smantellato per mancanza di membri. Tuttavia le quattro sono gli unici membri del club, e una di loro, Yui Hirasawa, non sa suonare nessuno strumento musicale e non sa leggere la musica. Le altre componenti del gruppo l’aiuteranno a comprare una chitarra, a migliorare le proprie abilità, ed alla fine il gruppo riuscirà ad esibirsi al festival scolastico con grandi risultati. Al secondo anno si unisce una quinta ragazza, iscritta al primo anno, Azusa Nakano. All’inizio è sorpresa dalle abitudini del club, come bere tè, mangiare spuntini e fare poca pratica musicale. Tuttavia, capisce dopo un po’ che il club è una specie di seconda famiglia. Insieme formeranno il Ho-kago Tea Time, la loro band, spesso abbreviata con la sigla H.T.T..

A K-On! sono stati dedicati dei francobolli commemorativi, emessi dalla posta giapponese, per celebrare il suo enorme successo in tutto il paese e non solo.

Interessantissime e davvero niente male le sigle dell’anime, nonchè i vari brani cantati nella serie. Per ascoltarli, oltre che consigliare un music box della serie, aquistabile qui, dal Giappone;

vi consiglio il videogioco dedicato alla serie, intitolato K-On! Hōkago Live!! (けいおん！放課後ライブ！！ Keion! Hōkago Raibu!!) è stato sviluppato dalla SEGA per PlayStation Portable, ed è disponibile dal 30 settembre 2010. Il 21 giugno 2012 il gioco è stato rimasterizzato in una versione HD disponibile su PlayStation 3. Molto divertente e davvero ben fatto. Oltre che poter riascoltare i brani, potremo vedere su schermo le nostre beniamine esibirsi.
