This was simply lovely.

Apparently the fic is part of a larger AU where Greg is a famous actor, and Mycroft, an equally famous mystery writer. Just roll with that premise if you’ve not read the larger series (I hadn’t), because the writing is so sharp and hilarious, the characterizations so deliciously odd, it was a treat and a half from start to finish.

See, Mycroft has discovered Black Friday and is as utterly obsessed with finding the best deals as you might expect for an over-achieving oddball like him. Greg is less enthused with the shopping, but in love enough to smooth out the rough corners (... almost ...). Also, there is a cat being confined against his will in case he needs to be measured for his new duds, which is also being done against his will.

And then there are the best bits, for us Mystrade shippers, which I shan’t spoil but will just say is as close to an italicized-oh as we can get in an established relationship, and is every bit as nice as that kind of thing ever is.

All in all: read the fic. It was lovely.

She often goes behind mycroft and Greg's back and hacks into their systems for either information or because she's bored

She inherited Mycroft's deduction ability along with high intelligence

She has an interest in mechanics and engineering

She loves Greg

She often joins her cousins on their cases

She and the twins run on caffeine if a case gets challenging

She has raging OCD

She plays the harp, lyre, piano, and flute

Emma and the twins play games together, whether it's deduction games or board games.

Tyler is the biological son of Gregory Lestrade

He has multiple siblings. His oldest sibling is at college in america

He originally was in his mother's custody, but he would visit Greg a lot as a kid

As he got older, he thought Greg didn't care about him. So he would get into trouble with the police to get his dad's attention

Tyler didn't like Mycroft as he grew up or Emmaline. He thought that they were the reason he wasn't around him or his siblings growing up and that he was replaced

Things between Tyler, Emmeline, and Mycroft were tense until Tyler and Emmeline slowly started to get along then Mycroft slowly followed

After Tyler slowly got more involved with his dad and his new step-father and step-sister, he got involved with the Holmes children and their adventures, which he did not mind except the many enemies trying to kill a bunch of teenagers

When Tyler went to school with Emmaline and her cousins, he would always threaten the bullies who would dare to make fun of his new family (he always denies it, tho)

Tyler has a short temper and is aggressive

He loves to skateboard and do graffiti

Is a great liar and can come up with an alibi in a snap

He is incredibly sarcastic, and he is always questioning his life choices

He plays the drums as a hobby to smash or hit his feelings with sticks

Spends most of his time with the Holmes family

He will never admit it, but he loves the Holmes family as his own and will fight with and for them

Loves family game nights

The family dinners are a bit "extreme," but they are also very entertaining

Neither of them has gained a tattoo in years. But when they both suddenly find new markings, things finally fall into place.

Our Love Keeps the Things It Finds is one of my favourite things I’ve written.  It’s a Mystrade soulmate AU in which people develop tattoos of the things their soulmate loves most.

Word count is about 25,000 and it’s rated T with no applicable AO3 warnings.  Contains opera, goldfish, and idiots in love.

Got the first chapters of my winner's stories out for the Rupert Graves 60th birthday auction (finally). Real life being what it is, it's taken me this long, apologies to @daltongraham and Mary (who isn't on tumblr), my winners.

Silence in the Library is up, Mycroft has retired and turned librarian, and Greg is a policeman/poet investigating a spate of murder tied up with book thefts. Cue our favourite policeman who doesn't realise he's also Mycroft’s favourite poet. In this AU they haven't already met.

My second one, Holmes: Ragnarok, has Mycroft running from an unnamed threat in the dead of night when sent a coded warning by his assistant. There's only one person safe enough to call for help. Greg is a bit BAMF and Mycroft is definitely out of his comfort zone.
