WOOOO!!! Another Sabine fic!!!! Sabine fans… i got bad news for u… this one is angst 💔💔💔 I’m so sorry to all the Sabine fans 😭💔 this one is also a friend fic! And a fic about the past 👍👍👍 so like first ever soul riders and dark riders kinda deal!!! This doesn’t exactly fit game backstory but 😏 its fanfic so … 😳 let’s pretend it do ❤️ Also I remembered that Sands went by diff names during diff years so i used one of those names here! This is set in silly cowboy times… sabine is awesome cowboy!!! 🐎🐎🐎 was gonna make this fic more cowboy and red dead like but ended up deciding not to bcs i wanted to make it more angsty 😈😈😈 also help i wrote so much. 😭 Anyways ty @ barricade-moonriser for the request! Summary: You and your best friend lived a peaceful life…until she found the horse.

“There he is” your best friend gestured to a horse in a clearing. If you had known that day how much that damn horse would change your life you would have begged your friend not to go. You watched as she slowly walked forward. She had no fear as she stealthily approached the horse. The steed did not notice her it was too busy grazing to notice her approaching. You stayed in place not wanting to scare the horse away. Now in the future you wished you had moved you wished you would have started screaming and waving your arms in an attempt to scare the damn horse away. You regretted just sitting there watching as she approached the horse. You still remember her laughter as she held onto the horse’s mane, and it bucked wildly. She was so happy, and she looked like a rodeo pro. Your best friend stayed on the horse managing to calm it enough for her to ride. Days later a fire started in the barn the horses were thankfully out grazing in the pasture, but your friend’s horse was missing. When you checked the barn there it stood…amongst the flames it reared and bucked. You saw its hooves they were on fire and its eyes were bright red. The horse was not normal it had started a fire in the barn. No one believed you when you told them they all told you that you must have been in shock and imagining things but your friend…every time you talked about what you saw she got anxious. Two days after the fire the newspapers wrote about it, and they said your friend’s horse was a “miracle horse” for having survived the fire. Ten days after the fire a strange man who said his name was Mr. Sandy came looking for your best friend. You saw him when he got off the train, but you did not know who he was then. You were riding by the station and your horse suddenly became terrified and another horse with gray fur and a white marking on their chest reared trying to free himself from the tie up outside the station. When you saw the man, your horse forbid you from riding closer to him. He seemed to be looking for someone and you just wanted to help him, but your horse refused. Once you clicked your tongue to keep riding your horse quickly took off into a sprint. At nighttime you and your best friend sat in the kitchen of your home talking about something that had gone down in town when you both heard a knock at the door. Your friend went to open it and she soon came back into the kitchen with Mr. Sandy and two women. The man introduced himself and the women who came along with him. One of them who you learnt was named Jay was very elegantly dressed she looked like she had just come from a formal event. The other whose name was Katja was dressed like she was expecting a horrible winter to hit at any moment. You made eye contact with her once and it shook you to your core. That woman had a horrible energy on her and you became terrified. You wanted to leave but you did not want to leave your best friend alone with strangers, so you stayed trying to keep yourself from shaking due to fear. Your friend spoke with Mr. Sandy who said he found out about you both due to the fire in your barn and the “miracle horse” being on the papers and he had something to say about your friend’s horse. “You have something that belongs to me” the man sat down and the women with him stood by him like bodyguards. “That horse escaped from my barn days before you found him” Mr. Sandy looked at you and you frowned knowing he was going to ask for the horse. You would have given it to him right away because you knew what you saw that day in the burning barn, but he was not yours he was your friend’s, and you knew she would be broken by the loss of her horse. “Is there any way we can buy him from you Mr. Sandy?” you didn’t want your friend to be sad, so you started to try and make a deal.

The man shook his head, and he stood up “show me where my horse is” he raised his hand not allowing you to speak when you opened your mouth, and he repeated what he had said but this time in a harsher tone. You looked down at the ground thinking about what to do and then you looked to your best friend. Her eyes were glossy it was clear she was upset. The woman nodded and she told you to “go ahead and show him where the horse is.” You walked out of your home with Mr. Sandy behind you. he was quiet as you walked to where the horses were being kept while a new barn was being built. When you got to the spot the horses ran away neighing loudly and only one stayed…your friend’s horse…well Mr. Sandy’s horse stood in the middle of the field and then he began to walk to the man. As the horse walked to you both you got his halter ready. You turned only for a second to get the halter and when you looked back the horse had bright red eyes that seemed to glow in the night and hooves that were on fire and burning the grass. The man was looking at the horse and he spoke “you knew what this horse could do before it burnt the barn didn’t you?” he looked to you, and you dropped the halter terrified of what you were seeing. “You saw what he truly was, and you kept it a secret” he gave you a crooked smile “you know who you are.” You shook your head “I have no idea wha-“ you bumped into something and when you looked back you saw your best friend glaring at Mr. Sandy. She held your shoulders trying to calm you down and keep you in place. At this moment you knew he was never talking to you…he was talking to your friend. “You must have known the moment you rode him” the man continued talking “you lied to your friend you told them you didn’t believe the horse started the fire, but you knew they weren’t lying.” You gave your best friend a confused look “what is he talking about?” you turned around to grab her hands and she gave you a sad look “what is he talking about?!” Mr. Sandy laughed quietly behind you “your friend lied to you.” he was talking to you now “she knew what the horse could do she knew it started the fire…in fact she helped the horse.” You went wide eyed, and you shook your head “he’s lying” you said, and you squeezed her hands “tell me he’s lying.” Your friend let go of your hands and she backed up “he’s telling the truth” she looked down at the ground ashamed “I was there I was about to go for a ride and…I don’t know what happened suddenly I had this power and then-“ you interrupted your friend with a sob, and her anxiousness on the subject of the fire made sense now… you backed away from her. You realized you were getting close to Sandy and his damn horse, so you started walking away from everyone. Your friend walked after you “wait! I can explain!” she cried to you, and you shook your head “stay away from me!” you sobbed “get away from me!” you were terrified, and you did not want the woman near you. your friend stopped walking completely heart broken by your terrified look, and she didn’t chase after you when you ran away. After that night you did not see your friend again…when you returned home, she was gone…all her things were gone nothing was left behind. Mr. Sandy had told her that night that she was a Dark Rider that she was destined to ride the horse she found in the clearing. He told her great things awaited her if she followed the path Garnok had created specially for her. having nothing left to lose due to you leaving she joined the man and along with Jay and Katja she wreaked havoc on Jorvik. You became deputy to a sheriff years later and you kept your town safe always keeping an eye out for the damn man and horse that ruined your life and took away your best friend. You passed years without seeing him and you were convinced he had left Jorvik for good. You rode around town making sure everyone and everything was alright. With you was another deputy who rode on a white horse with an odd colored mane. The two of you were talking about heading back to the sheriff’s office when you saw a fire start near your old home.

You went with the deputy to investigate it and when you got there you saw it…the same damn horse who had started the fire in the barn long ago and on his back a rider dressed in red, gold, and black held something in their free hand. You thought it was a torch at first and then you realized their hand held fire pure fire with nothing else to it. you and the deputy were terrified and so were your horses. Your horse neighed and backed up and the person on the black steed turned and looked to you…your heart dropped to your stomach, and you gasped as you saw who was on the horse…your best friend… she hadn’t changed at all… you were different due to all the years that had passed but she looked exactly the same as the day you left her. You held back tears as she looked at you and her expression was the same as yours…pure sadness on her face. you opened your mouth to speak, and your throat produced nothing but a small sob. The fire in the woman’s hand slowly died out and she watched you as tears streamed down your cheeks, and you managed to choke out a single word…
