On March 13th 1947, the musical Brigadoon opened at the Ziegfeld Theatre, in New York City.
Brigadoon, a musical by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe that tells the story of a mysterious Scottish village that appears for only one day every hundred years, though to the villagers, the passing of each century seems no longer than one night.
Two American tourists, Tommy and Jeff, lost in the Scottish Highlands, stumble upon Brigadoon. The schoolmaster, a  Mr. Lundie, explains to them that two hundred years ago, the local parish pastor prayed to God to have Brigadoon disappear, only to reappear for one day every 100 years, to protect the village from being changed by the outside world. None of the people of Brigadoon can be permitted to leave the town or it will disappear forever.
By now, Tommy is falling in love with one of the villagers, Fiona. Tommy asks Mr. Lundie if an outsider could be permitted to stay. Mr. Lundie replies, “A stranger can stay if he loves someone here – not jus’ Brigadoon, mind ye, but someone in Brigadoon – enough to want to give up everythin’ an’ stay with that one person. Which is how it should be. ‘Cause after all, lad, if he love someone deeply, anythin’ is possible.”
Tommy has fears and doubts about the strangeness of the situation, and he and Jeff go back to New York. But Tommy can’t forget Fiona. Months later, the two men travel again to the spot where Brigadoon was; as expected, there’s nothing there. Tommy laments, “Why do people have to lose things to find out what they really mean?” Just as he and Jeff turn to leave, they hear the music again (“Brigadoon”), and Mr. Lundie appears. Tommy walks across the bridge to him, as Mr. Lundie explains: “You shouldna be too surprised, lad. I told ye when ye love someone deeply, anythin’ is possible. Even miracles.” Tommy waves goodbye to Jeff, who stares incredulously as Tommy and Mr. Lundie disappear into the mist.
The wonderful music includes “Brigadoon,” “I’ll Go Home with Bonnie Jean,” “The Heather on the Hill,” and “Almost Like Being in Love”
The original theatrical musical ran for 581 performances. It starred David Brooks, Marion Bell, Pamela Britton, and Lee Sullivan. In 1949, Brigadoon opened at the West End theatre and ran for 685 performances; many revivals have followed. AMost of us will know Brigadoon from the 1954 film version which  starred Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse, and a 1966 television version starred Robert Goulet and Peter Falk, yes Columbo himself!
I can’t speak for the theatre version, but I looked through the cast of Brigadoon, and naturally there are no Scots in the  movie, we have Americans and English, we even have a Welshman and a Northern Irishman but, like the village itself the Scots are missing!

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do you want to be a singer? Here's what your Singer persona chart means 🖤! Go to astro.com and click on the extended chart option. Scroll to the bottom and type in 10698 to find the Singer asteroid. Then select which chart type and pick "persona chart".
The Singer asteroid is your overall voice and sound as an artist.
The ascendant is your public image as a singer or your musical concept. What people will know you for.
Your sun sign is your identity as a singer.
The moon is how you express your feelings and emotions while singing.
Mercury is the thought process of your song writing and what your lyrics are about. It also is how you communicate to people in interviews, radio stations, or talk to other celebrities.
Mars is how active you are physically while performing and your stamina. As well as your temperant when faced with conflict or your passion for singing.
Venus is your beauty and style. What makes you stand out visually or how your music videos could look like. It could also represent what record label you sign a contract with and what kind of people you work beside.
Jupiter is where you can find your success as a singer and what would help you attract the most abundance. What would make you famous.
Saturn is what humbles you as a singer and what scandals/rumors you could possibly get involved in.
Uranus is your connection to the world and how you interact with your fanbase. Also how to promote your music with technology.
Neptune is what people don't see behind the scenes or what could happen to you that others might not know about.
Chiron is the wounds and hardships of being a singer.
North node is your life path as a singer and what destiny you have to fulfill. The longevity of your career as a singer.
Midheaven is your social status and professionalism as a singer.
Use the degree theory to see what energy is associated with your signs/planets. Here are some indications of fame degrees in a chart.
Aries singers are expressive with their identity. They are often fresh on the scene and have a lot to prove to the world. Their attitude can be described as spunky and charming. They sing from their head and chest more than their diaphragm, could have trouble projecting their voice properly. These singers are competitive or could make their debut performance in a singing competition.
Taurus singers are more reserved and sensual. Their voices can sound velvety and seductive. Their best songs are recorded at the privacy of their home. They could sing in intimate places like singing in a jazz bar or a coffee shops, something like the Tiny Desk series. They could perform in green, earthy sceneries. Their music makes people feel soothed and comfortable.
Gemini singers have a duality and are able to switch up their concepts. Their voices could have multiple layers or tones to them. They could have a high pitched voice or low pitched voice. For example, when some people talk their voice is deep but when they sing its really high and vice versa. Gemini singers perform at radio stations or live on social media.
Cancer singers carry a lot of emotion in their voice. It could almost sound like they're crying or choking up. They are best at conveying their feelings through a song. Their notes have a lot of resonance. They are shy and don't like being put on the spot when singing. These singers have terrible stage fright. Their image is important to them. Beyoncé has a Leo ascendant in her singer persona chart and she's known for her diva presence ("Somebody's gettin' fired!"). Leo singers perform in big stadiums, theaters, or musical plays. They could also be actresses.
Virgo singers could get criticized a lot on social media. Some people enjoy their voices, others do not. They can be hard on themselves and practice until they can't sing anymore. Their voices could sound very thin, but they have great enunciation skills. They could experience a cold often or they have to take care of their throat more than the other Singer signs. Singer songwriters are most likely to be Virgos. They could perform in hospitals or at senior citizens centers.

Libra singers could have to heavily rely on endorsements and commercials than their music. They have to balance music with work. They could have a fanbase that's mostly men or women depending on their gender/sexuality. Their music mostly consist around romantic relationships and they could perform at churches, weddings, or venues.

Their music could have much darker elements or Scorpio singers could make music that expresses their grief or new chapters in their life. They use a lot of vibrato and have husky voices. They perform in class or auditions, anywhere they can show off their skills.
Aquarius singers are nonchalant and chill. They like to be "cool" and do something different than the other mainstream artists are doing. Their voices could have a unique tone or sound nasally. Robotic or alien-like. Their music is very avant garde or experimental. People could want to gatekeep their music. They could perform online by posting covers on tiktok/youtube or do virtual tours.

thoughts on how buck and bucky would end up kissing and/or hooking up for the first time? what would lead up to it, who would make the first move etc <3
I feel like it would have to be either after a rough mission, or a successful one.
First one could be that the grief and loss has worn everyone down, John and Gale are trying to understand their place in it all, to cope with the fact it could be one of them next.
Gale is more reserved about his anxiety, doesn’t show it publicly, has to be a leader for everyone. John is more likely to get physically antsy, tries to find the positives in it all because he’s still got Gale.
It feeds off on everyone, able to find hope despite their fears.
Gale’s never been more relieved at John’s glass half full type of energy, feeling less burdened by the weight of pressure.
But John confronts him one night, he’s a little more drunk than he should be, but it’s the only way to find his strength.
He crowds Gale against a wall, his lips pulled tight, pressing his forehead to their shoulder, bottom lip jutted out and trembling.
Gale feels it then, what he’s been hiding, brings his hand to John’s shoulder and tries to rub him there reassuringly.
John voices his fears, lifts his head, Gale sees how wet they’ve grown.
“It’s gonna be alright,” Gale murmurs, and he tries to smile, ducking his head slightly. “We’re gonna be alright.”
John swallows, feels a lot of things in the moment, isn’t sure what any of them are.
Not until he brings his hand up, cupping it again Gale’s cheek, surging forward to press their lips together in something that’s too messy, teeth clacking against one another, almost bumping noses.
But Gale doesn’t run from it, just stands there shocked, feels his eyes widen before John pulls away from him.
“You shouldn’t have done that,” he whispers, but there’s no menace to his tone, no real rejection to back up his words.
John catches it, and he steps back, nodding his head.
“Yeah, I shouldn’t have… Too bad I’m about to do it again anyways.”
Right well I should probably say now it wasn’t supposed to turn into that but, I’d feel bad ridding y’all of the extra content so I’ll let it stay.
The other option is much more cheerier!
They’re probably together in the hall, music’s blasting, people are dancing, John and Gale are at each other’s sides as always.
John’s especially taken by the thrill of it all, can’t stop smiling, finding ways to chime in with singing, or patting his comrades on the back whenever they walk back.
Gale’s just smiling, sometimes he grins a little more with teeth, feels the world sweep away from him.
It might just be one night, but they’re making it his, they’re taking the victory and using it as means to inspire how successful the future could be.
After all their hard work they deserve it.
John probably saunters back, hooks his arm around Gale, leans real close.
“Come with me?”
“You need an escort now?”
“I might, you don’t want me wandering off on my own tonight, do you?”
Even though he tries to hold meaning to the theat, the smile spilling over his cheeks shows he’s just trying to get his way.
Gale gives into him anyways, follows him outside, lets him smoke his cigar and leans his head back against the wall to take in the stars.
The world feels at peace for a little while, no fights or fires above, just laughter and joy and beer.
John catches his gaze, follows it with a grin, nudges his arm into him.
“Don’t get too lost in the clouds, Gale. I need you down here with me.”
“I’m always down here with you.”
John laughs at that, thinks it’s the funniest, sighs and leans his head back to join Gale’s observations.
“I don’t plan on letting you go anywhere anytime soon, you can count on that.”
Gale laughs too, something easy and sweet.
John tilts his head towards the blond, leans close to murmur something, and Gale turns in time to catch their lips almost touching.
It stops them both, John’s lips parted and ready to usher words, Gale’s closed and ready to listen - but they split apart when they notice how close John is.
“I don’t plan on going anywhere,” Gale whispers, thinks it’ll spark them both back to normalcy.
It doesn’t, if anything it halts John further in his tracks, and then his eyes dip.
Gale doesn’t have time to warn him not to be too hasty, to tell him he should move in case someone comes out and sees them so close.
John’s lips on his force him into silence, everything else falls away, and his cheeks warm under the attention before he gently prods John back.
“Someone could have seen,” he warns, and something about it makes John smile.
Gale’s slightly appalled at his lack of consideration or care regarding the matter until John continues.
“Next time I’ll be more careful.”
Fuck. I ended up yapping again. Okay so I could honestly see it going different ways but I wound up writing two very specific scenarios, sorry bout that one. If you want different like perspectives in the future lemme know.
And, uh, hope you enjoyed??

Every Japanese comedy reference in Jujutsu Kaisen chapters 240 and 241
EDIT: Added one more reference to Audrey that I completely missed out when I was writing this post. Putting my self-proclaimed Japanese comedy otaku title to shame!
I was a Japanese comedy otaku way before I got into manga and anime, which is why I get way too excited whenever I spot Japanese comedy references in other forms of media. Granted, the plot is totally coherent even without knowing the references, but please indulge me as I find myself a rare opportunity to talk about Japanese comedians. All English panels are sourced from Manga Plus and Japanese panels are my own digital copies.
Preface about Japanese comedians
Japanese comedians usually form duos called "combi" in Japanese. Some may form trios or even quartets, but duos make up the overwhelming majority. Solo comedians are becoming more common, but like Takaba, most if not all of them had started out as a duo that didn't work out over time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nabe Nabe Entertainment and Pony
Reference to Watanabe Entertainment, a major entertainment agency in Japan. The most famous comedian group under Watanabe's management will be the comedic trio Neptune, and the above panels reference them indirectly as well.
Another talent management agency mentioned is Pony, which is a reference to Sony Music Artists Inc (SMA). Yes, they manage comedians as well lol. Agencies have distinct styles of management, which eventually shows in the type of comedians they manage. Kenjaku assumes that Takaba is with Pony because SMA has managed to propel an impressive number of solo comedians to fame despite the comparatively smaller scale of management. They also lean more slapstick than the "cooler" forms like skits and monologues. In fact, Takaba reminds me of Koume Dayū:
youtube
Laughing Dog? Vocabula?
Both Laughing Dog (Warau Inu) and Vocabula (Vocabula Tengoku) were incredibly popular variety TV serial programmes that Neptune appeared in during the 1990s and early 2000s. Takaba admires Neptune, which is why he chooses to sign with Nabe Nabe rather than Pony, even if the latter may actually manage him better.
Kenjaku wondered for a second why Takaba didn't cite Vocabula as the reason he admires Neptune, because Vocabula was the one that gave Neptune their shot to fame, and they absolutely reached superstar levels of fame during the time. Laughing Dog came later, when they were already established as household names.
The reason why Kenjaku walked back on it with "I guess that's obvious enough" has to do with the nature of the two programmes. Laughing Dog was a sketch comedy programme like Chappelle's Show, while as the name may suggest, Vocabula focused on wordplays, puns, and parodies. Comedians were voted based on how they performed the jokes. Here's a short clip of Neptune on Vocabula:
youtube
While here's a sketch from Laughing Dog (the second, third, and fourth green leaves members are Neptune lol):
youtube
Of course Takaba was inspired by Laughing Dog, "I guess that's obvious enough".
Backbone! My backbone!
Tumblr media
An actual short gag (ippatsu gag or lit. one-shot gag) by Haranishi from the duo FUJIWARA:
youtube
It's not the first time Akutami has referenced an actual short gag in the series. Perhaps you may remember Itadori's unfortunate reunion scene at the sister school goodwill event:
Tumblr media
This is a gag from Kojima Yoshio:
youtube
You have my condolences, Itadori.
Comedians and auditions
Tumblr media
Kenjaku is dressed like a stereotypical TV producer here. This dates back to Japan's asset price bubble; during which, tying a cardigan over the shoulders was a staple look among TV producers and directors. In this scene, Takaba is auditioning like he would for a part in a variety TV show. Struggling comedians like Takaba often audition for variety shows that showcase a series of comedic skits or manzai. Pass the audition and you get a spot to perform on national TV.
Comedians and theatre
Tumblr media
Most comedians who don't get their big breaks on TV spend a large part of their careers in small theatres. A typical comedy show consists of several groups of comedians performing their skits or manzai, and the theatre will hand out feedback forms like the above. It seems like Takaba used to go by the stage name Pinchan.
P-1? C-1?
The fictional C-1 is a reference to an actual long-running competition M-1 Grand Prix, while the fictional P-1 which Takaba mentioned earlier is a reference to another competition R-1 Grand Prix. M-1 is restricted to manzai performed by two people or more, while R-1 is open to solo comedians only. There are several important annual comedy competitions in Japan. Winning these big-name competitions is usually the ticket to fame for many comedians, but even then it may not work out for everyone.
Idol shows
Tumblr media
It has become customary to have established Japanese comedians host Japanese girl groups TV shows, and I pretty much agree with Takaba's take on why. If you're a fan of idol groups like Morning Musume, AKB48, Nogizaka46, or Idoling!!!, then you would be familiar with Japanese comedians like Ninety-Nine, Ariyoshi Hiroiki, Bananaman, and Bakarhythm.
By the way, Takaba was watching TV while eating cup noodles after the above panel. The lines are from a well-known manzai performed by comedy duo Audrey. This particular joke with them going "hehehe" at each other is a staple in their early manzai:
Tumblr media
In fact, take a closer look at the apartment that Takaba lives in. It's based on the actual apartment Kasuga (pink vest guy on the right) used to live in, named Mutsumi-sō. His shabby apartment and extremely thrifty lifestyle had been featured in many variety TV shows in the past. He lived there for more than 20 years, and the apartment was actually quite a tourist spot for fans of Audrey. Kasuga's Japanese Wikipedia article even has a photo of it as seen below, which is what I think Akutami referenced from. The interior is largely based on Kasuga's apartment as well:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bonus Japanese comedy!
Akutami has taken inspiration from actual Japanese comedians in the past. In chapter 153, two of the spectators look eerily like comedy duo Sandwichman:
Tumblr media
And how can we forget Ken, the fellow comedian who gave Takaba advice in chapter 146:
Tumblr media
He's based on Kendo Kobayashi, and if you've seen images/clips of Akutami dressed up as Mechamaru, that was when he went on Kenkoba's show:
youtube
Wow that was long. Thanks for indulging the squealing Japanese comedy fan in me!

hii!! i was wondering if you would write a adley rutschman imagine?? maybe they confess their feelings towards one another? (best friends to lovers??) if so - thank you!!!
Do best friends do what we do? - Adley Rutschman
w/c- 2066
warnings- cursing (literally like one word), implied smut towards the end, self-deprecating talks
while I was writing this I got a little carried away and decided to put things that were important to me. Being able to love yourself and see yourself as you do other people is something that I will forever want everyone to experience. I struggle with self-hate, and I have recently started to not compare myself to others because you never know what they have done to look the way that they do. They could also be hating themselves. What I'm trying to say is basically, always love yourself no matter what. You are strong and beautiful always and forever. <3
Thank you for the request!!
Being a star baseball player with a hot best friend was difficult.
Especially difficult when you’ve been in love with her for years.
Today was like any other off-day for me. I was hanging out with my best friend y/n, rewatching Peaky Blinders, and eating Chinese takeout. She had her eyes fixated on John Shelby, who she thought was so hot. Having her look at someone else made me jealous.
“Hey y/n, would you wanna go to dinner with me tomorrow? My parents are coming to town and I want you to come with me.”
The words didn’t completely fall out of my mouth before she agreed.
“Oh my gosh yes! You don’t even have to ask! I love your parents! How long are they gonna be here for?”
God, she’s perfect. I love her.
“They’re just going to be here for the weekend. My dad has a conference in the city, so they wanted to stop in and catch up with me”
The rays of the golden hour came through the curtains to cast a brightening light on y/n’s beautiful face. Her prominent cheekbones, long, brown hair, and her juniper eyes.
I could really be lost in the world of y/n l/n forever.
“Adleyyyy! Adley Stan Rutschman I swearrr! I’ve been talking to you for the past 2 minutes what sort of daydream are you in?!”
Whoops, my bad. I didn’t mean to be gone in la la land for so long, but how could I not? She’s everything.
“What did you say y/n/n?” I replied to her, blushing mildly.
“Is Josie coming? I miss my favorite Rutschman child.”
I slap my hand over my heart in fake hurt, “How rude ma’am. You’re not coming anymore.”
I stand up on the couch pointing my finger in the air and saying in a really bad British accent, “Madam y/n y/m/n y/l/n, you have here-on been banished from any Rutschman family gatherings on the count of the fact that yo-”
y/n also stands up and slowly starts creeping towards me.
“You will never forget this moment Mister Stinky Poopy Butt!” You will never banish me! I am the ruler of the Rutschman Kingdom Muahaha!”
Then an idea hits me. I know what I have to do.
I tackle her onto the couch and begin tickling her.
“Nooo, I surrender Ad, I surrender!”
Her continuous laugh is music to my ears; the most infectious thing on the planet.
As our laughing dies down, we’re left staring at each other in a not-awkward silence. Me, kneeling in between her thighs our hands holding me from falling on top of her, just staring into each other.
“I guess I better tell you, Josie isn’t coming, She has work. So now I guess I’m your favorite Rutschman sibling.” I said sticking out my tongue.
“You’ve always been my favorite Ads. My best friend forever.”
As the last sunlight went below the horizon, y/n laid her head on my lap, and I played with her hair, as we turned the tv to watch our comfort movie, Puss in Boots.
To be honest, I haven’t even been watching the movie. I’ve been focusing on the girl below my eyesight.
We say that we’re best friends, but I know that best friends don’t cuddle on the couch and watch a movie that they’ve been watching together for 12 years.
As kids, we had to take y/ns younger siblings to go see this movie, as the movie theater was just across the street from our houses.
We ended up liking this movie just as much as the little kids.
After that, we started having movie nights every single weekend.
She’s come to me crying over boyfriends that have mistreated her, and every single time I’ve been the one to pick up the pieces.
She’s the one that followed me to Oregon State, and all the way out here to fucking Maryland because she didn’t want me to be alone while I was living my dream.
There’s no way that best friends do that.
I notice the jealousy in her eyes when a girl comes up to me at the bar when we’re out with the team, but I always brush them off. She doesn’t know that it’s because of her.
She was the first person I embraced when I found out I had been drafted first overall, she was my first phone call the night that I got too wasted with the team after my first mlb start, she’s always been a first.
The end credits of the movie started rolling when I finally came back to reality.
I felt the steady breathing of y/n under my arm, and I knew that she had fallen asleep.
When I looked at the time I realized that it was nearing 11 o’clock.
It was too late to wake the sleeping girl up, so I brought her upstairs with me to go to bed.
She stirred a little bit as I lifted her up, “Adley?”
“Yea, I’m just bringing you up to go to bed, it’s late, and I’m not letting you drive back home.”
She just put her head back into my chest and fell right back asleep.
Instead of turning to the guest room like I normally would, I brought her straight to my bedroom. The bed was five times comfier and the blankets fluffier.
I knew we had some serious talking to do tomorrow.
As I tried to rest, I couldn’t stop thinking about the gorgeous girl next to me.
The nightlight that I put on that side of the room specifically for when she stayed over brought enough light to her face so I could see how peaceful she looked as she slept.
Tossing and turning, the hours felt like minutes until I finally fell asleep around four.
Waking up to the bright sunlight coming through the shade, I looked to the left of me to see if y/n was still there, and there she was, cuddled into me like a koala.
Brushing her hair out of her face, her eyes fluttered open.
“I don’t even remember going to sleep last night.” she chuckled
She laid her head back down for a few seconds before seemingly getting the courage to get up and head to the bathroom.
As she got up, my eyes followed her. The way she stumbled in the mornings, and the way her sweatpants rolled to look like pantaloons. She was still the most beautiful thing to me.
I didn’t hear anything for a few minutes, nor did she send me anything on tik tok, and I was starting to get worried. She’s normally always a pretty loud person.
Walking towards the door, I heard soft sniffles, something that wasn’t normal.
“y/n? You ok in there?” I softly knocked on the door.
No answer followed.
I hesitantly opened the door with my hand covering my eyes.
“No, don’t come in, I don’t want you seeing me like this!” She sobbed loudly.
I quickly uncovered my hands to see her, on the floor with her knees up to her chest.
She had nothing on but her sports bra and underwear, but I didn’t care because something was making her upset.
Her phone was face up on the tile next to her and I see that her Instagram comments pulled up.
She had posted her Pittsburgh Eras Tour Night 1 pictures feeling that she had edited them enough.
She had sent me the pictures so many times so I could “see which ones were social media worthy”, though I thought that all of them were.
She had spent months coordinating her outfit, just to make sure it was perfect.
Her sobs haven’t ceased, but only grew as I reached for her phone to read the comments displayed on the screen.
‘Should you really be wearing a shirt like that?’
‘Nobody wants to see all that’
‘Everyone is definitely lying when they her pretty’
She looked up at me as I finished reading what she once had. Her green eyes were now bloodshot, once full of life, now filled with sadness that would make Eeyore flinch.
I scooped her into the tightest hug that I could muster, all while stroking her hair and telling her that it was ok over and over again.
She pulled away from the hug, picking up her phone to look at the pictures once more.
“Am I ugly Adley? I mean I know I’m not a Victoria’s Secret model, but I don’t think I’m ugly.”
“No honey, you’re not ugly. You’re the most beautiful person I know.”
“I mean I know I could lose a couple of pounds, but I’m healthy, and I do take care of myself.”
“I know, and hey, so what if you’re not a size 2? You’re beautiful, and not everyone’s body works in the same way. Those people have no idea what they’re talking about. They don’t know the real you, the you who lights up when she sees echidna puggles online, or when you see your family, or even the way your nose crinkles when you smell a pickle.”
I was close to tears now. I never knew that she was hurting. I would’ve done everything in my power to reassure her that my world revolves around her and that she is everything to me.
She smiled through her tears as she wiped the tears from my eyes.
“I love you Ad, I’m sorry that I kept this from you for so long. I promise I’ve been going to therapy to help better myself and my self-image. You never make me feel anything less than beautiful.”
Her hand flew over her mouth as she gasped.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to say that. You can ask me to leave if you want. Just tell your parents that I got sick. You don’t have to talk to me again. I don’t know how you feel towards me but I’ve been in love with you since 2nd grade.”
I just sat there, my mouth agape as I took in everything that she said. I had spent all last night wondering how I was going to ask her out, but every single idea failed as my mind immediately turned to her rejecting me.
“Y/n, I love you too. Yesterday, when you were asking me about Josie, I didn’t hear you because I was too busy focusing on you. The way your eyes glistened in the sun, bringing out every shade of green and yellow that live in them, and the way that your hair so freaking effortlessly shines in any light. How could you not have noticed me staring at you like it was you who hung the moon and the stars?”
Our hands found their way together as we never broke eye contact.
I forgot that we were in the middle of my bathroom floor, we could’ve been anywhere in the world and she would still be my sole focus.
“Just kiss me Ad, I’ve waited way too long to do this.”
I pulled her into a kiss and the second our lips touched everything felt right. It felt like all of the stars aligned, as fireworks went off in my head and butterflies in my stomach.
Our lips connecting was like the final piece in our complicated puzzle finally coming together.
Every time we were out, we were told how cute a couple we were, I always reluctantly told them that we were just friends. Now I didn’t have to do that.
As we pulled away, our lips were red and puffy.
She let out a small giggle as she said, “Maybe I should put on clothes now unless you don't want me to and we can move this into another room?”
She slowly stood up, grabbing my hand as we both walked back through the door and into my bedroom. Making up for all of the missed time that we missed together.
I never thought that I would say that I was happy to see the love of my life, half-naked, crying on my bathroom floor, but now I can sense that we’re going to spend the rest of our lives together.
Man the things that this woman does to me.

Once again I find mysele just a bit too tipsy to speak clearly: I am dringing too much scotch.
I have just watched Take me home, and now am watching Theat's Entertainment. I just love Celtic Thunder.
I wish you all were here with me enjoying a bit of scotch with me. I think you and I would be the best of friends.

.
I don’t know why I’m suddenly so lonely and feel like a failure. Probably something to do with it being 1:35 am. Maybe also because I feel like I’m holding myself to higher standards with COMPANY and I’m afraid of failing there. I really want to prove that you can put on a good show without the theater department or the student theater organization and I want to be able to show the results of centering clear communication on a production team. I want to be able to do this show and research accessibility in theater and apply my learning to what we’re doing. I also have a ton of other commitments that I can’t make any less of a priority. For example, the disability student org that I am basically in charge of. I can’t just put a whole organization on pause, and I don’t want to. The struggle is that no matter how much I try, I don’t have someone I can rely on to lead a meeting if I can’t make it. I have no one else I can rely on to keep track of the tasks that need to get done and even if I ask someone to do something that doesn’t mean it will get done! Even if it’s my friend. I end up having to do everything myself, or close to that. I did half our treasury stuff last semester and I’m not the treasurer! I have no training! But it needed to get done, and we had a deadline. I’m also worried about doing inventory for the burlesque club I’m part of, because I thought I would be able to get that done over winter term and I haven’t had time so far. I want to prove that I can do this work, but I have to be able to do the work. And I can, the issue is do I have time.
And I’m trying to do all of this with chronic fatigue. I have to rest more often and for longer than other people. That takes up time! Time that I can’t really do anything with. And I know that being disabled in theater means you have to have a more impressive resume than most able bodied people with your same skill set to even be considered for a job, but I also can’t overwork myself to get that impressive resume. And I got a job again, but I’m worried that a lot of the hours I’d be able to sign up for would conflict with the show I’m working on. But also I need some sort of income, and this is the only job in theater here I can get. And I’m trying to find summer opportunities but they’re next to impossible to find, especially because I can’t do standard summer stock work and because for some reason a bunch of theaters aren’t running their summer internships this summer. I’m overworked and I feel underworked and I’m doing too much and too little and I don’t fucking know how to navigate this. I have no guide in this area of disabled and in theater. I can only trailblaze so much before I need to see a path to create. But also why do I have to be the one to do all of this? Why is it up to me? Why is there literally no one to support me in the place I need support most? My own academic advisor wants to learn from me, but I’m the one asking him for help! Also, I have only been visibly disabled, moving through the world as a disabled person, for like a year and a half. How did I end up in this position where I am viewed by so many people as someone who is super knowledgeable about “the disabled experience”? Our intimacy choreographer, who studied accessibility in theater over the summer for a professor’s project, thinks I know more about accessibility in theater than they do. I don’t know why! I have done basic dramaturgical research for the musical 13 when I consulted for it, and then acted as an intimacy choreographer for them during tech week for like two days in an effort to create less harmful representation on stage, and then I quit for the second time because they were so horrible and hostile to me. I have been a disabled person in theater spaces. And now I’m doing this private reading about accessibility in theater this coming semester. That’s it. I don’t actually know very much at all! I don’t know if there is even that much to know, because disabled people in theater are so hard to find! Most of the articles I’ve found (there’s like 5) just talk about disabled people being underrepresented in theater and that theater spaces need to become more accessible so disabled people can be in theater more. It’s so hard to find any discussion that even includes all aspects of theater in that statement, and I haven’t found anything that takes the discussion beyond that simple statement of “theater needs to be more inclusive of disabled people”. Because what do we mean when we say that? Who do we recognize as disabled, who do we recognize as being skilled enough to be in theater, how does that get unevenly applied to disabled people? What efforts can we make to be more accessible for physically disabled people even when our spaces aren’t accessible? What changes are we actually willing to make to the way we do theater to make it more accessible to disabled people with fatigue, with mobility issues, with chronic pain, with visible disabilities, with disabilities and chronic illnesses that have inconsistent and unpredictable symptoms? Are we actually willing to make any changes at all, or just pay lip service to inclusion?
