I have little to no experience making animations, much less animatics, seeing as I've only ever completed one over the span of my 19-year-life, lol
But after rediscovering my love for musicals, I decided to try my hand at it again. I grew up on musical animatics and always wanted to get into it, and what kind of progress am I going to make daydreaming about making them instead of doing it, right?
Im starting out with BEETLEJUICE: THE MUSICAL, cause I'm an Alex Brightman nut. Before I take on a full animatic, I'm testing what little knowledge I have while trying to learn my style of making these with Lydia summoning Beetlejuice at the end of Act 1.
The video is the base vision I have for the snippet, along with the frames I imagined while listening to the song. The other two shots are closer to what it'll actually look like!
I'll be sharing the progress here on Tumblr since I'm still new to the platform. If you guys have any feedback or tips for this amateur, feel free to share, it's well appreciated! Hope you guys enjoy riding this out with me, I think it'll be pretty fun!
Let's see, #13 is "Talk about a WIP you like!" I had to think about this one for a moment. I try to finish most of my work-in-progress projects, but every so often, I take on a project that is too much for me.
In this case, I'd like to share a project that I left unfinished:

This is an unfinished animatic for the musical Razia's Shadow. It incorporates a lot of my headcanons. I'm still proud of my work, but it was too much for me, and I struggled to maintain motivation.
I used to be very active in the Razia's Shadow Fandom, and it still has a special place in my heart. I love musicals.
Groundhog Day the Musical may be the cure for artblock, but school is the cause. And unfortunately there is more school in my life right now than there is Groundhog Day
The one singing is Lothar, an annoying austrian created by me, the other one is Jenik, his czech soulmate, created by @neoncl0ckwork - together they are suffering eternally, getting tied up by loupežník all the time
It would mean a lot to me if you’d heck it out and share it, I put a lot of effort into it and am really proud of the result <3
Wanted to try and make an animatic for a while now, so I’m happy I was able to finish it!! It’s a bit rough, but it’s mostly meant as an exercise. Also I referenced some other versions and performances of this song.
This version fits them so well, especially the body language. While the origins cast has amazing performances too, I like that the tone at the end doesn’t get so upset. Because this does show quite well how they react to conflicts in their relationship: Arguments are a part of every relationship and they too get into each other’s hair sometimes. But they don’t hold a grudge for long and most of the time their arguments consist more of harmless bickering.
Btw they’re in a break room at the end. So it’s possible some Briggs men are sitting in the corner watching Casther and Val climbing on top of the table. Just another Tuesday at Fort Briggs.
This was so much fun! Also big thanks to my friend Al, they showed this to me because it reminded them of Casther and Val <3
Finished this for my final on Janice Chun’s storyboarding class! I decided to do a musical sequence since I never done one before and it seemed like a great opportunity to do one! I chose the song Waving Through A Window from Dear Evan Hansen. Not a fan of the musical but the music is great! Janice is not only an amazing teacher, but a great person and has taught me so much more about storyboarding than I ever thought I ever could learn about. I highly recommend her classes definitely!!!
