I guess since we're talking about hands, I'd like to share something I made a few months ago :D
Shape, proportions, palm squish — it's all in my casual little 8 page tutorial on how muffin draws hands 🖐️✨
Here's the first page!
Tumblr media
Includes tons of little notes on how I draw hands
Tumblr media
and over 30 awkward ref pics, with a stash of free-to-use photos!!
Tumblr media
Since hands are famously difficult for many artists, beginner and pro alike, I made a modest rundown of how I go about drawing them. It's available for everyone over on my patreon for as little as £1
Thanks! And now back to posting artwork~

It’s weird to run a cafe in crime alley, because while I’d have good business anywhere, only in Gotham would my two best customers be Red Hood and Red Robin, and the both of them try to outdo the other.

(Prev. post: on force study)
Once I've measured and sketched it in full like I want it on a separate paper, i used the ye olde pencil transfer trick, which.. haven't used That one since before digital. WOW
Just to make sure the composition was where i wanted it, to avoid erasing and ruining my watercolour paper (bc erasing is a crime punishable by art law (joking) gjyky)
It doesn't need to be the Exact lines, it just needs to be clear enough to draw over
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BUT THEN comes the dreaded question, right, like: " how do i make lineart not Stiff after working and reworking it sm times? " bc at this stage it Rly was looking more Blocky than flowy.
Answer i found:
I rly comes back to that early energy study for me, like: whichever direction the energy is going, that's where the 2d lines need to be going. It's rly that simple, but easy to forget
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had a Lot of fun w the fact that even the strands of caleb's beard and essek's ears follow this line of action XDD
Tumblr media
The more you know i guess
I think i did most of that subconsiously after i noticed that it Worked, but i'll def keep it in mind going forward
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then i did colour. I dread it. I hate it. Paint is unpredictable and i have control issues.
But it worked out so all is well
Aaaand ,, That's it !! Have a nice weekend (i'm playing dnd)
(Does Explaining the magic Ruin the magic or does it encurrage others to make their Own Magic?? Who can say... (magic is art in this analogy btw)).

Just wondering, do you have any tips for the scene zero fourth battle on hard mode?
No matter what I do or who I choose that robot witch just kills my girls in a turn or two. I'm not even on despair yet!
That would be uhhh
Tumblr media
this one, who'se flame? Yikes, that's a whole hell of a lot of shit she does, even without being on despair...
Tumblr media
She's pretty tough. Personally I used a witchbomb with Historia Yachiyo, but if you don't have her then I'm unsure.. Hmmm.
You can try setting up a sacrificial character to take all the aggro and die for turns one and two-- it depends on how many hits that character can take though. Sasara's new memoria might help, though she might not reach magia on her own and I don't know if you want to use up an accele disc on her to help her get there.
It looks like you can still use debuffs at the very least.
Urgh, I'm sorry that's not very helpful. I can try and look around on discord later but I haven't researched her fight very much because I took one look at it and went "this is beyond my brain right this second"

Hey everyone, since it's that time of the year to file taxes, double check that you don't need to use a paid service through the IRS Free File option.

Sorry if this has been asked before - do you have any tips on how you create those lovely stained-glass-like patterns for the round backgrounds for patreon pieces?
Sure! Although this will be entirely about Clip Studio Paint because it's what I use :>
CSP has a fantastic symmetry tool that lets you draw multiple sections at the same time, a bit like a kaleidoscope. You can increase the number of symmetry lines and use it to make really intricate patterns quickly.
Tumblr media
Here's a few I've made in the past using this method:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or!
you could do what I did for the NN portrait borders and download free-to-use assets from the vast realms of the community hub :D
Such as these pretty brushes I used: [1] [2]
Then click the spanner symbol to open your circle tool settings (or using whatever line or shape tool you want!) you need to head into the Brush Tip sub-menu, the Material tab, and import your new downloaded brush.
Tumblr media
Have a look at your brush tip settings too, some brushes need a different angle or need to be flipped horizontally for them them to look right. Fiddle with this section if your result looks funky!
Tumblr media
Pop into the Stroke sub-menu and make sure ribbon is ticked also.
Tumblr media
Then it's just a case of adjusting the Brush Size afterwards, and off you go :D
Tumblr media
I hope that helped, have fun making your own funky borders!!
psst I have a handful of tutorials and full video timelapses on my patreon if making art is your jam <3

Apparently I got really drunk and told my friend „don’t tell women, but I plan to make muffins for women’s day.“
She looked at me and asked me if I have an oven and I just said „no, but I’m going to make them somehow“
I NEED to make muffins without an oven, does anyone have a recipe? Magic tumblr site do your thing

Oh i almost forgot i do these things!
Just thought i'd go over the prep work i do before i start drawing, bc I don't rly see ppl talking abt it, but it's smth I prefer over sketching directly onto my water colour paper:
So i did some sketches without reference at first, but i thought they were stiff so i wanted some inspiration
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Important step to me when i use reference is i trace over to find where the energy is in the photo. Bc if i just copy it straight without examining it, i have a harder time understanding what I'm drawing, and default to drawing pretty things without challenging myself to construct with intention.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next step is just taking the ref and Pushing It a little. I ask myself, "what's the next natural movement that would follow the action in the reference image?" Which is a fun exercise to do sometimes, especially with characters whose inner workings you find interesting. It's like acting!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can rly see the difference in movement between when i'm too married to the reference vs rly pushing it, and playing w it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My thought w the reference for the sg painting was that it looked too young and timid, which Essek Can be that, but it's not what I was going for, so i thought "how can i insert resistance & attitude without making this look like he's having a bad time?" which, the answer was rly just, make it FUN!
Little touches like, paying attention to where the arms and legs go, and who is pushing or pulling who where? Is the fabric crinkled or smooth to indicate pressure? FUN STUFF LIKE THAT
(Cont: on line work)

Simon as the maintenance guy who works at your apartment complex. He’s as unseemly and off-putting as he is enormous, and every time you see his sweeping stature or heavy gait (weighed down by his utility belt) you can’t help but remind yourself, he has a master key—he has access to your flat whenever he pleases.
He strays around the complex like a lost dog looking for its owner. Or, in this case, something to do.
When you call for him to fix a leak in your flat, you’re sure to offer him homemade muffins and tea, wrapped and bowed in a little apron as he gets to work. He’s flattered, telling himself to spend a little longer on your sink. To you, Simon works diligently. He leaves with a belly full of blueberry baked goods, and refuses your tip.
After that, you see him around a whole lot more.
In the lift on your way back from work as he updates the safety regulations (which were revised just last month). Ministering to your garden on the complex rooftop, where he seems to be checking the exhaust fan (which you distinctly remember was already cleaned the week prior). In the parking lot, right beside your parking space, where he inspects a pillar for any fissures or clefts (it’s a brand new augment to the building).
Simon becomes shamelessly forthright with it, often inviting himself to your flat. He brings his toolbox along like a stray cat that drops dead mice at your doorstep, insisting you have stuff that needs to be fixed.
Is your smoke alarm intact? Do your doors latch properly? You probably need your vents cleaned.
You’re timid and reticent with all of Simon’s unheralded appearances. He’s so big and so broody, but he’s done so much for you. You can’t exactly tell him to leave you alone, not without sounding like a prick.
Simon and his “visits” become more frequent. Even when you’re not home. The kicker is, Simon honestly doesn’t see anything repellent about his actions. He’s being there for you; is that not what friends do? … Are you not his friend?

Two New Dishes for January
These recipes and a couple more can be found on the cooking page of this blog. Hope you enjoy if you try and let me know what you think. Venison tips/cubed steaks & gravy and Crockpot BBQ Chicken are two new recipes I came up with in January. One of the items on my bucket list is to try one new recipe each month.
