(btw i’m on book 2 of AVOS so no spoilers pls) I spent a few hours coming up with new ideas for Shadowclan, since i feel like they’re kind of just “evil thunderclan with pine trees” and i wanna know what you’re opinion on my ideas are! I know it’s a lot to read, sorry. 

-Shadowclan is hardy and volatile. They do well with changes and aren't very strict about the warrior code. Because of that, Shadowclan is seen as weak-willed by the other clans. They are quick-witted and clever and are usually the first clan to come up with a solution for a clan-wide problem. They have thick skin and aren't very sensitive. Shadowclan is very independent, and the other clans see that as a reason not to trust them.

-Pine sap is harmful for most cats, but Shadowclan cats have adapted short, coarse fur similar to that of a badger, which makes pine sap easy to clean off without having to use their tongues. Having coarse fur also helps when hunting snakes, since they can't bite through it. Kits are taught from a young age to rub their fur on rocks to get the pine sap off before they use their tongue.

-Shadowclan warriors are set up into two different roles, much like Windclan's moor runners and tunnelers. The two roles are sunpelt and moonpelt warriors. Sunpelt warriors are hunt during the day, whereas moonpelt warriors hunt at night. Sunpelts and moonpelts were named after the two warriors that founded these roles, Sunfeather and Moonwhisker. They were sisters during the change of territories that both felt like Shadowclan wasn't reaching its full potential and that they were lagging behind the other clans. They also felt that the way Shadowclan had been hunting wasn't very successful, so they split the clan into two groups: sunpelts and moonpelts, The senior warrior of each faction decides what a cat will be, usually based on their pelt color.

-Rivalry between sunpelts and moonpelts: Sunpelts, try to be more like other clans and want Shadowclan to be more "normal." They have lighter fur colors, which helps them blend in with the daylight environment. Their den is on the left side of camp, where the sun hits more.

Moonpelts feel the most connected with Shadowclan since they embrace its differences and enjoy its independence from the other clans. They have darker fur colors to blend in with the forest at night, and their den is on the right side of the camp, where the moon's light shines more.

-Shadowclan hunts a variety of prey found mostly in their territory and is some of the only prey they can hunt consistently. Snakes, lizards, salamanders, woodpeckers, red squirrels, opossums, and bats. Snakes, lizards, and squirrels are hunted by sunpelt warriors, whereas woodpeckers, bats, salamanders, and opossums are hunted by moonpelt warriors. All Shadowclan hunters

climb trees and have the quietest paws of any clan cat, able to stalk their prey without making a sound.

-Views of other clans: A common belief held by Shadowclan cats is that the other clans are too soft, since the other clans have territory with never-ending prey. They've never had empty fresh-kill piles or their food hibernating during leaf-bare. It's usually in response to other clans judging them for their unusual behaviors.

Welcome to; the warrior cats au.

Pinestep; medicine cat, the mother of both Cicadasong and Oakpaw. White and grey tabby, long haired cat with heterochomia and prominent ear tufts. Tall and looming. Previously a kittypet and made medicine cat by Whitestar.

Shellstar(Original name: Shellclaw) Clan leader, got there by allying with rogues to overthrow the previous leader(Whitestar). Mentored Owleye and current mentor to Crowpaw. A rare calico tom with a fuckton of scars and gold eyes. Has lost at least four lives.

Spidergaze; deputy, rumored among young apprentices and kits to be able to read minds. Tuxedo tom with long limbs and blue eyes. (Joined Oakclan with his sister Owleye and their mother as rogues invited in by Shellstar. Also might have killed the last deputy.)

Ratclaw; warrior, formerly Shellstar's mentor and the brunt of lots of clan jokes. Brown tabby tom with crooked front teeth. Shaggy fur.

Moonpelt; warrior, notorious for having defected from Mossclan at Spidergaze's encouragement. Brown and white seal point she-cat with bright blue eyes. Short fur.

Owleye; warrior, known for fighting her way through apprenticeship with only one eye and becoming the best hunter in the clan. Golden tabby she-cat with one muddy green eye. Long fur.

Thunderjaw; warrior, Cicadasong's father. He was an apprentice when Pinestep was brought into the clan and they grew close after Silverclaw's death and Thunderjaw's injury. He used to be upset with Sunshadow and Pinestep for also being mates, but this has changed. White tom with long fur, blue eyes, and with a crooked jaw from an accident as an apprentice.

Sunshadow; warrior, mentored Thunderpelt and fathered Oakkit. Known for having been born during an eclipse. Black she-cat with fluffy long fur and piercing amber eyes.

Cinderstrike; warrior, known for being extremely strategic for battles and patrols. Young orange and white tom with bright green eyes.

Rabbitleap; warrior, mentored Cicadasong and known for his ability to leap farther than most cats. Cinnamon brown tabby with yellow eyes.

Cicadasong; warrior, eerily quiet and likes to catch bugs to practice hunting, son of Pinestep and Thunderpelt. White long-haired tom with heterochomia and prominent ear tufts.

Bearpaw; medicine cat apprentice, mentored by Pinestep. Chubby brown cat with a stump tail and rounded ears, dark blue eyes. Will be named Beartooth.

Mousepaw; apprentice, mentored by Cinderstrike. Scrawny brown cat with a white tail and paws, gold eyes. Will be named Mousetail.

Petalpaw; apprentice, mentored by Owleye. Calico cat with blue eyes. Will be named Petalfang.

Crowpaw; apprentice, originally mentored by Softstride, now mentored by Shellstar. Scrawny black cat with green eyes. Will be named Crowrun.

Firejaw; not an elder but respectfully retired, renamed after surviving a forest fire and having a huge burn scar across his jaw and a lot of his body, wears it with pride. Huge orange tabby with a limp and yellow eyes. Father of Petalpaw.

Volepelt; elder, father of Bearpaw and Mousepaw (mother passed away). Mousey brown with graying fur and dark ear tufts.

Softstride; queen, currently pregnant and endlessly shy about it. Brown/grey tabby she-cat with soft brown eyes and white toes.

Oakkit; kit, daughter of Sunshadow and Pinestep. Black, long haired cat with amber eyes and prominent ear tufts.

Possible warrior names for Kia and the Kiavice babies I made up when originally writing this.

Blackscale; queen, mate of Shellstar and mother to Riverfang and later Snapkit. Tortoise shell shecat who's mostly black with faint white and orange markings that look like fish scales, green eyes.

Riverfang; warrior, daughter of Shellstar and Blackscale, mentored by Sunshadow and known for her ability to swim really fucking well. Tortoise shell she-cat with gold eyes.

Snapkit; kit, son of Shellstar and Blackscale. Black cat with green eyes and named for how he snapped at the air not too long after being born.

Pinestep's relationship with Starclan is one of tense understanding yet disapproval of one another. Pinestep was a kittypet and forced into the medicine cat role because of his perceived weakness in his past by the previous leader. He refutes that he shouldn't have mates or kits because of something forced on him.

Side notes;

There may be some other members of the clan, such as Spidergaze and Owleye's parents, Petalpaw's mother, and maybe a cat for Takim but rn theyre unnamed.

Many members of the clan are former rogues and loners that Shellstar recruited in his bid for the role of clan leader. Spidergaze, Owleye, Cinderstrike, and Rabbitleap are all either from the original raid or were kits brought in.

Owleye was almost forced to be a medicine cat, too, but Pinestep refused to teach her when Shellstar proposed the idea, knowing she'd hate it. Despite this, the two are still rather close, as he'd often give her tips from his time having known Silverclaw.

Pinestep being forced into the role is such a point of spite for him, that he was given the prophecy of Shellclaw's betrayal and not only actively chose to hide it from the previous leader but to HELP Shellclaw become the leader.

Bearpaw is passionate about becoming the next medicine cat and was always tottering after Pinestep when he was still a tiny kit--at least when he wasn't getting up to mischief with Mousepaw and Petalpaw. Pinestep is happy to teach him.

A mild consideration for Blackscale(which is now just canon ti this au); potentially a former kittypet, too, but one that was in an abusive home and ran away. In the process she ran into Shellstar and they got into such a fight that she took one of his lives and he became INFATUATED with her.

Can I share my bad rp story too? I mean we didn't get the chance since this dude, Badgerfur, just walked up and started telling us we're doing warriors wrong... in a public Roblox room. Like, I was about to start with Badgerfur when "Moonpelt can't be leader you don't have star in your name (they were randomly appointed and likely forgot), and Oliverfur clearly has never read warriors and is just a kid, and you (me) don't even look like a lynx! (I had the prefix lynx-) LMAO do you even know what they look like? Names are based on appearance and personality!" I tried telling Badgerfur (who yes looked just like a badger) that I didn't much care for the fur color (Lynx is cream) and thought that having tufted ears and bobbed tail was enough to warrant Lynx-, but they stood their ground of "if you're named after an animal you need to look just like the animal". They continued to call me a kid then the signature Roblox censorship of "## #### #### ##" and yes that's basically what they said no words were left uncensored when I said I don't care about the fur color of my character, liked him the way he was and wasn't going to change him. What I found most amusing was their claim to like SkyClan names and to not be a traditional namer (both asked while tearing down Oliverfur), and just leaving after walking up to me (they thought I was a kid and called me this multiple times keep in mind) to say "f you b" before leaving which honestly had me laughing. I wish I got to ask them what color Yellowfang is.

Phantom Glanced Over to the Little One leaving the Nursery as He entered. Where was he going? His attention shifted to Moonpelt and he dipped his Head in Greetings.~

Man that takes me back. I had two littermate ocs. White cats, blue eyes. Almost exactly alike except that one was blind. She had some special kind of cataract that made it look she had stars in her eyes, so her warrior name was Stareyes, and she was a medicine cat while her sister, Moonpelt, was an actual warrior. I never developed them much, but I think their mom was a rogue kitty pet who couldn't care for her kits, and knew Firestar would take them, and he did

WIP AND WRITING TAG GAME

I was tagged by @sillyliterature! Thank you so much for the tag! :D

1. Is there any scene from any piece you’ve written that actually scared you? If so, describe the scene.

I don’t really think anything I’ve written really scares me from a horror perspective. There’s been some creepy stuff that I’ve written but I’ve always been smiling when I was writing it... I guess there is one thing though. 

It was more of a thought really. An older sister just gets back home from dropping her brother off somewhere (work or a mall or something) and walks downstairs thinking the house is empty. She pauses on the stairs when she hears sounds coming from her brother’s room. She sneaks over to the door and looks in to find her brother playing videogames. He notices her and waves. She confronts him and he insists that he has been there the whole time. She calls her brother on the phone and he answers from where she dropped him off. As he talks over the phone the “brother” in front of her starts getting up with a giant, teeth baring grin.

I don’t know why, but that sends shivers up my spine.

2. What genre do you feel most awkward writing?

I just do not feel comfortable writing stuff that is supposed to take place in our ‘universe’. Like, daily life fiction. Coffee shop aus or stuff like that. I love reading that stuff but I just don’t like writing it.

3. How many different types of writing do you write? Types of writing include novels, short stories, poetry, song lyrics, etc.

I think my main type of writing is short story stuff. I like planning out novel-length works but I never get around to actually writing them. My poetry writing is few and far between. I do have some stuff, but I wouldn’t call it good.

4. How old were you when you first started writing?

I have a Warrior Cats fanfiction saved somewhere that I wrote in middle school. It is probably the longest thing I have written to date, although that may be because it was written in wide ruled notebook paper with each letter being at least a half a centimeter thick.

5. How confident are you in your writing?

When I’m by myself I am very confident in my work. I get into writing fire streaks and love every bit of it! When I’m with other people, though, I am very doubtful. I have only confidently shown my work to one person, my best friend in the entire world who is always excited to read anything I write. I’d rate my confidence a 6/10.

6. Have you ever written and posted anything that was very personal to you?

No. I keep my personal stuff very close to me. My personal stuff is for me. But, I’m always happy to post my other stuff! :D

7. What inspired you to start writing?

I would read everyday at every free moments and in the moments where I had no free time I would daydream about what could happen next. Sometimes I would be very disappointed by what actually happened in the story. Eventually I realized that if I wrote the story I would never be disappointed in what happened!

8. Which of your OCs do you relate to the most?

Deryn and Morgan. Morgan is a main character of a story that is incredibly anxious and would never talk if she didn’t have to. I poured a lot of my own mental health issues into her. Deryn is not a main character, she’s the love interest of a character (her and her wife too ;D), and she is very similar, gender-wise, to me. She doesn’t always feel entirely like a girl and honestly does not care about her own gender. She doesn’t really like labels so she hasn’t searched for one (very similar to me).

9. Have you ever written self-insert fanfiction?

Kind of? I would base characters off of me and plug them into stories to be in a relationship with the character I had a crush on but it was never just me with a different name or something.

10. What is your favorite piece you’ve ever written about?

A piece I have saved on my google drive that I keep going back to and editing. I just love it every time I reread it! :D

11. How frequently do you actually sit down and write?

Not as much recently. I want to try and write more this summer, but we’ll see if I actually end up doing it...

12. How many hours at a time do you do research on your writing?

When I research I either do a cursory glance or spend hours going deeper down the rabbit hole! :D

13. Do you like to branch out in your writing or do you tend to stick to what you know?

I try to but I always end up not enjoying myself as much as when I write my normal stuff. I’m not writing for money so I’m not going to push myself to write something I don’t enjoy.

14. What would your antagonist of your current WIP say to you if they saw you in person?

I’m not really that sure. He isn’t as fleshed out as the protagonists... He’d probably try to interrogate me about where his goal is. 

15. Do you consider yourself your OCs’ god or just kind of a guiding hand (or other? If other, please list)?

I don’t really think about myself as their god. I’ve certainly made an all powerful god but she isn’t really me. I think about myself as a guiding hand, a recorder, and a traveler of universes. ;D

16. What do you think you’d be doing with your time if you’d never gotten into writing?

Um... Videogames? I play some, but I’m very picky because of the restrictions of stories. I have a lot of hours stored in Stardew Valley though! :D

17. Have you ever written a smut piece?

No. I rarely even write kisses! (I’m a slow burn writer. :D)

18. What was the first thing you ever wrote about?

Warrior Cats. My OC was name Moonpelt! She was a total marysue, but I still love her to this day!

19. What is the most creative creature you’ve ever created for world-building?

They’re called Beings. They can be anything and have any kind of powers. They’re basically creatures that are very difficult to categorize so no one even bothers. If you don’t know what it is there’s an extreme chance that it’s a Being.

20. Tell me one random fact about your WIP that you have yet to tell your followers.

There hasn’t been a magical person born in millennia. Magic has become the stuff of legends and myths; some believe it once existed, some do not. The only “magical” things left are the towers and giants in the Wasteland. ;D
