MODLIST UPDATE POLL 1: MAIN PAGE DIRECRORY

I plan to eventually update how I provide my modlists and make them a little more readable. The first, and primary, step of that plan includes splitting my existing directory in one of two ways.

OPTION ONE: Console Lists vs PC Lists

Self Explanatory; Two subpages. One dedicated to console lists, one dedicated to PC Lists.

Would combine all games in each category onto one page. I would prefer this method have a drop-down menu, but I use Carrd for free and 1) can't afford premium and 2) don't want to remake on Google Sites or code a Neocities site... yet.

OPTION TWO: Lists per Game

More pages & elements, but would provide clearer picture as to what belongs to what.

Potentially allows for linking to mod description pages; may help considering text limitations on console. Or, I describe each mod myself in basics, as linking to Nexus is 1) tedious for a plethora of reasons and 2) irrelevant to console modding. What does it do? A blunt, brief explanation.

WIP Whenever

Was tagged by both @thequeenofthewinter and @bostoniangirl21, (thank you!) but as I was hyper-focused working on my modlist (again), I didn't get to this until today. ^_^ As it isn't wednesday, I won't tag anyone (this time). But if anyone has something they're working on, I'd love to see it. I am nearly done editing the next Vilkas chapter in Snowflake's Chance so have a snippet from the one after that. From Lewin's pov. (note: he has a true wolf form and that's what he shifts into in the snippet)

"Barbas was displeased that they were in Tamriel. And he yelled at your father over it," Copper said, grinning when he snorted.

"I'm sure he took that well."

"He seemed more amused than anything," Vilkas said. "But that was when I found out how bad he was at noting time passing. He referenced events that had happened months previously as though they'd been mere days."

He nodded, frowning at his bottle when another pull came back empty. I drank that fast. Wonder if it'll hit me. He set the bottle to the side, feeling uneasy. I hope not. I don't like...

"What's wrong?" Copper asked.

"And you say Vilkas is too observant," he muttered.

"I have my moments," they said.

"I don't like getting drunk," he explained. "I didn't realize I drank the mead that fast, and I'm concerned about how it will hit me."

Vilkas frowned, sitting up and tugging his shirt off, bunching it beneath him. "Then let's settle down to sleep," he suggested. "That will help ease any effects."

Swiftly, he transformed, darting to curl up next to Vilkas, warmth spreading to his paws as he moved, not all of it from the fire.

"I'm sorry," Vilkas said softly, resting a hand on his nearest paw. "I didn't think to ask. And I'm used to werewolves having a high tolerance for alcohol."

He glanced up at him, shivering, Copper sliding down, cushioning their head on Vilkas's arm, reaching out their hand to rest on his other front paw. "Your system should clear it quickly," they said. "And we'll be right here."

Closing his eyes, he blocked out the agitation from his wolf spirit, sinking deep into memories, struggling against them. It was just one. It shouldn't affect me. I'm fine. I'm not that much a lightweight. I'm fine. I'm...

"Lewin. Are you ready for this?"

Turning his head, Lewin smiled at Aurane, watching her braid her hair back from her face. "You really want to see the city that much?" he wondered. "I've heard it smells."

"Of course it does," she laughed. "There's so many people there." Lowering her hands from her hair, she sighed dreamily. "Camlorn. I've dreamed about it since my parents told me about it. It's where they met! Do you think I could find someone there too?"

"Not in three days," he said, laughing when she smacked him lightly with her pack. 

"Come on Lewin. Maybe you'll meet someone there too! Someone who will change your life forever."

He jerked, yipping when someone grasped his ruff, struggling and snapping, strong arms wrapping tightly around him. "Easy, easy."

A blast of frost across his nose woke him, and he stopped struggling, panting hard, a hand rubbing his ear gently.

Blinking, he snorted, clearing his nose of the frost, focusing on Copper, smelling their worry, shame shriveling him in on himself.

He twisted, squirming again, realizing he was wrapped in Vilkas's arms.

"Easy," Vilkas repeated. "I'm going to set you down now, alright?"

Shivering, he stopped moving, letting him lower him back to his paws, fighting the urge to bolt into the darkness, let it swallow him up. Instead, he forced himself to turn, feeling the worry from his wolf spirit as he woke fully. "I'm sorry," he choked out.

Awww thank you so much!! The first thing I'll say is its 1000% due to mods that skyrim looks like that lmao. Also full transparency, I do have a pretty decent gaming laptop that allows me to set all of my settings to max.

I'd also give a lot of credit to ENB (which is similar to reshade/gshade for sims) and I use Cabbage ENB. And just like with sims there are a plethora of cosmetic/visual mods you can download for your character! It can be tedious and lowkey painful to mod skyrim but there are also pre-made modlists that you can download if you wanna check those out (personally I just made my own modlist from scratch).

Well, this sucks. After watching someone else struggle with the PC version of Jedi Survivor (they -still- can't get the game to load due to the issues!), I decided to do some technical digging to see if I could help them.

And in doing so I found out that my computer can't run the game at all.

I'm below minimum specs - my Graphics Card is unsupported for Survivor. Even if I upgrade my RAM, I very likely won't be able to play. I knew I might have a RAM issue (I only have 8 GB rather then the 16 GB that's recommended), but I never even thought to check my Graphics Card, as it's a solid-if-slightly-older card and this has never come up! I thought, worst-case, I'd be upgrading my RAM, not having to buy a whole new computer! Fallen Order lagged sometimes, but it ran decently - and the lag, I'm pretty sure, is a RAM issue. It runs Mass Effect Andromeda quite nicely without complaint (a teeny bit of stuttering if something else decided to run in the background is the only trouble I've ever had). And Baldur's Gate 3, which Isn't Even Out Yet, is also well within my Graphics Card specs. The only game that my computer has actually 'noped' out on is a Modded City Skylines Build, and that's clearly a RAM issue, and it might even be a Mod issue - I haven't had the patience to go through my modlist after the newest update. It runs my Absurdly Modded Skyrim build and my slightly-less-modded Fallout 4 build without issue, and overall, has had very few problems running most games, up until now. Yes, computer technology has advanced, and developers want to take advantage of it. But, I purposely bought a powerhouse of a machine when I bought this a few years ago and it's already out of date - and on components that are much more difficult, if not impossible, to swap out? This feels like planned obsolescence, and I'm very displeased. I'm actually really annoyed that an older-but-still-solid piece of hardware is now below the minimum specs for Survivor - and that I'm going to have to get a new computer to run the game - something that a) I don't nearly have the money for, and b) why do I need to replace a perfectly good machine? Sure, it's always been cranky about Windows Updates, but that's a software issue. (Broken Windows Updates have bricked this machine twice, thank -God- for backups!) Hardware-wise, though, it's still in good shape beyond one stuck key on the keyboard that I haven't really been bothered to fix yet! And, this sucks even more because, if I want to be active here on Tumblr, or in the JFO Fandoms over on Ao3 - well, I've already hit some spoilers, even just by virtue of stuff in the Ao3 tags, and not everyone is tagging their stuff as spoilers here on Tumblr, either. (And because I'm an artist in my Day Job, I can't just log off and walk away, I have 'work' accounts on a bunch of the socials where I'm also seeing Survivor posts, thanks to the joys of the various algorithms, even if I'm not subscribed/following/etc).

Most of my mutuals here are being very good about tags and/or putting things under the 'read more', but it's hard to avoid spoilers if I still want to be active in the JFO side of the Fandom, which, I do - I mean, I've still got a JFO era fanfic that needs more chapters!

Now, I can -try- and run Survivor on an unsupported graphics card and see what happens, but, odds are, it won't work. And if it doesn't, I'm stuck either getting things spoiled for me, or, watching a Lets Play and getting things spoiled for me, because there's absolutely no way I'll be able to afford a new computer any time soon. I guess this at least means I'm avoiding the Drama that has been the PC launch? /sigh/

Also, I know the new modding system within Skyrim on consoles is... rough to navigate. I cannot provide help there, whether it comes to finding the mods listed or saving your load order, because it just. Does not work for me either. Bethesda really does keep this game alive by making it worse and worse with every update they release. For example, as of updating this list (Feb 9, 2024) you cannot save/load your load orders, meaning that mods will not stay where they are supposed to. Apparently.

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to puzzlesontherim, a blog all about my current game of Rimworld featuring characters from Professor Layton as pawns. This blog will chronicle the day-to-day life of the residents of the colony of Little London as they build towards creating a warm, welcoming, and hospitable settlement out on the Rim.

Very important thing to start! I have not played or beaten the entire Layton series, so there’s a lot of information I’m missing and a lot of spoilers I’m not privy to. Please assume that I only know of events from Curious Village, Lost/Unwound Future, Last Specter/Spectre’s Call, and Eternal Diva, and refrain from discussing spoilers for the rest of the series or making suggestions based on said spoilers. (This list will update as I continue to work through the series. Currently, I am playing Diabolical Box.) Pawn builds and relationships are subject to change as I learn more.

And speaking of pawn relationships, I will be taking a fairly hands-off approach to romance within the colony. Canon relationships will be edited in as new characters are added, but beyond that, what romantic relationships form will be dictated by R.N.Jesus. Don’t lambast me if the Rimworld Gods decide to canonize a ship you don’t like.

Currently, the difficulty is Randy Random on Community Builder. Also, I don’t have any DLCs, although I do have a metric shitton of mods.

I don't think I have that mod/it exists for the first game??? (I've romanced Kaidan for Wren before, but I'm romancing Liara this run on ME1 and Garrus later; on default for the blog there's no romance.)

The hilarious pause of "do I clicky the how are you doing dialogue or is it romance???" before doing it because I have the same gender romances mod and need to beware unintentionally flirting with Ash as well as Kaidan here (I should have disabled it since I kept Kaidan as Beacon-toucher and am romancing Liara anyway but NAH).

General disclaimer: This is not meant to be a 1:1 to my roleplay portrayal, even if it can be used as a reference for choices and just as a general "people can watch this if they are interested/wanna know Wren/the game more" fun thing. In gameplay, I tend to exhaust dialogue options; for a lot of asking questions, Wren actually would already be aware of the answers so sometimes it's more about wanting to show the dialogue (for people not familiar with the game) and gaining XP, other times (mostly when conversing with people about their personal experiences) she asks about things she is aware of because she wants the story from the person themselves, and to show care. Also, gaming dynamics obviously have their limits.

I record everything. I edit out reduntant getting lost on the map (happens a lot more you'd expect), repeat dialogue, and/or speed through leveling up, modding equipment, etc. If I am reading something while playing, I keep the text in my edits for long enough for me to be able to read (I'm a slow reader). Stuff less relevant to the story, such as planet descriptions, I keep in the video but only very briefly so that the information is there and readable if the video is paused.

I mainly record for my own reference/screencapping etc. purposes.That's why there also are no subtitles, though I will record clips I specifically want to share with subtitles on.

You may use my videos freely for anything you wish, such as screencapping your muse if you play someone from the games etc.

I play with a galore of mods! Here's my list of mods I currently use in this playthrough for the first game.

I always include clickable timestamps on Youtube, if you want to watch, but want to skip some parts.
