1. jellyfish!! my fave animals, so soothing and majestic and beautifully dangerous, and squishy hehe

2. butterflies, I feel deeply connected to butterflies, they look out for me and keep me safe

3. otters, I once actually cried when I saw them and heard their cute little squeaky toy noises...the children around me thought it was hilarious

4. dolphins, I was a dolphin girl as a kid but I recently saw a dolphin show and it rekindled my love of the ocean and the magic I saw in them

5. stingrays/manta rays, perhaps because of Moana, but also little me was such a little know it all and got so excited to tell people that I knew how to tell apart the boy stingrays from the girls

This is inspired by @nemo-of-house-hamartia 's comment of her loving the ocean and my little one's favourite movie. The spirit of the stingray is following Moana (Vaiana depending on where you live) everywhere and provides comfort in times of hopelessness. A bit like the support I received from my friend, daughter and the community here. This one goes to those who feel lonely and lost hope: you're not alone!

Day 11: Wander

I didn’t want to go with someone walking, cause I feel like it would be similar to what other people might make. And recently I have been watching a lot of Doctor Who so space and starts have very much been on the mind.

And while I was trying to come with an idea for the prompt for day 23 celestial, all I could think of was the stingray from Moana. So through some thinking and marinating of thoughts, I decided on a stingray swimming. Then I thought of using stars instead of trying to color the ocean in greys. Plus I felt like it would stand out more. I decided to add the text at the end because I felt like it fit, not because I felt like it needed an explanation. I also added some starts to the ray because it felt to empty being white. I also played around with some grain brushes, which was fun!

John: Moana. John loved Moana with all his heart, when he was a kid he took a stick he found by his house and pretended it was Maui's magic stick (I forgot what it was called ehswne). On a side note, he made William watch it every movie night, and absolutely bawled at every possible moment, and now loves stingrays.

Sera: Brave. No doubt in mind. At first she hated it for no reason, but after watching and analyzing it a bit more, she realized she just related to the main character more than she liked. Sometimes Sera will just sit in her dorm alone and watch Brave under a pile of blankets while sipping hot cocoa, and it always makes her think of her relationship with her mom.

Arlo: Lion King. He watched it as a child, and it still remains and the only movie to ever make him nearly cry. His love for the hierarchy came from this movie, and after John dethroned him, Arlo watched Lion King 7 times in a row

Remi: Big Hero Six. She is absolutely in love with Honey Lemon, and after watching the movie in theaters as a kid, she kept taking different dish soaps and mixed them together, saying she would become a hero like her. After Rei's death, she cried (even more than usual) at Tadashi's death scene, and found herself relating to Hiro more and more, especially the scene where Hiro tried to kill Callaghan

Blyke: Mulan, animated version ofc. I don't know why but everytime I watch this movie I can just imagine Blyke going crazy over it. He gets so pumped up with the fight and training scenes, sings the songs when he thinks he's alone, and loves the meaning behind it too

Isen: He loved Frozen. Watched it on repeat religiously as a child, and still loves it even now. His favourite character are definitely Sven and Olaf, and he even has a little Olaf toy hidden in his dorm room. Aside from Frozen, he also loved and cried at Finding Nemo & Finding Dory, and it inspired him to get a pet fish (which he somehow lost???)

i had a dream that i was in a stream on one of those bed float things w my mom and a stingray was chasing us under it and i was trying to stay as still as possible and then 2 baby bears came out and killed the stingray to eat it and when i told my sisters about it they said it reminded them of the time they took a which moana character are u quiz for me and i got moanas dad

Disney Rewatch Project: Moana

If there is one person who could outshine the juggernaut that "Frozen" was back in 2016, it was Dwayne Johnson. The man formerly known as "The Rock" is one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood and is a big reason "Moana" became a hit.

Moana (Auli'i Cravalho) is the daughter of an island chief in ancient Polynesia who longs to explore the ocean but must stay and help lead her people. When a curse threatens her home, Moana ventures out to find the demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) and get him to help break the curse.

I wish I had realized this sooner, but we are well within the era of Disney that coincided with my review "career." It would have made these a bit easier. If you want my thoughts on the movie, click here.

I want to talk about my favorite moment from the movie, and it's not Johnson singing "You're Welcome," as much as I love that song. The moment happens during the reprise of "How Far I'll Go."

After discovering that her people used to be voyagers, she heads back to the village and learns that her grandmother is dying. Moana runs to her grandmother's side. Her grandmother tells her to go and save the island. She leaves her grandmother and gets a boat. As she sails off the island, the lights in the village go out, and a shockwave races towards the ocean, where it turns into a giant stingray made of light, and it guides Moana beyond the island's reef and into the open ocean.

Her grandmother is the one who has encouraged her to follow her own path. She was seen as the "village crazy lady," and Moana was the only one who saw her as the wise woman she was. She encouraged her to go against what her father told her and save the island. As Moana sails away from the island, her grandmother's spirit leads her away from home. It's a moment that makes me tear up every time I watch it.

i really love sharks! they’re really cute and the closest aquarium to where i live has a TON of them. i also really like stingrays

i can’t really pick one but my favorites are moana, princess and the frog, brave, mulan and the little mermaid.
