Jiang Cheng sat in his study, the weight of the world heavy on his shoulders. As the sect leader of Yunmeng Jiang, he bore the responsibility of leading his people and maintaining peace in the cultivation world. But that was not all. He was also the guardian of his nephew, Jin Ling.

As he looked out at the tranquil beauty of Lotus Pier, his thoughts turned to Yanli. She had been the heart of their family, the one who held them together with her gentle kindness and unwavering love. Jiang Cheng missed her every day, her absence a constant ache in his heart. He wished he could see her smile again, hear her soothing words of comfort.

Then there was Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng's anger flared at the thought of him.

He knew that Wei Wuxian was the one responsible for Yanli's death, indirectly if not directly. His reckless actions had brought destruction and chaos to their lives, tearing their family apart. Jiang Cheng despised him for it, hated him for the pain he had caused.

But despite his anger, there was a part of Jiang Cheng that longed to see Wei Wuxian again. He missed his friend, the one who had been like a brother to him in their youth. He missed their laughter, their shared memories of happier times. He missed the bond they had once shared, before everything had gone so horribly wrong.

And most of all, he missed the chance to tell Wei Wuxian how much he truly meant to him, how much he had always valued their friendship. In his heart, Jiang Cheng knew that there was a deep well of love buried beneath his anger, a longing for reconciliation and forgiveness.

As he sat alone in his room, Jiang Cheng found himself thinking back to their childhood days, when they had been inseparable. The three of them had spent countless hours exploring the fields and forests of Lotus Pier, their laughter echoing through the air. They had been a unit, three parts of a whole that had been unbreakable.

He missed them. Too much that it began to hurt. Began to feel like a storm that will never settle.

Had a dream the other day that I am now turning into a fic prompt

During a battle, some cultivator stabs their sword through both Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe. As they lay there dying in each other’s arms, they vow to always be together even in death.

(Note: in this part of my dream, Binghe dies first and Shen Qingqiu is weakly shaking him trying to get him to wake up.)

Fast forward 1000 years, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji run into the resentful spirit Luo Binghe who can’t move on because Cang Qiong refused to bury him alongside his husband.

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji must go through the remnants of Cang Qiong sect and the Demon Realm to find Shen Qingqiu’s burial spot and reunite the two lovers.

Every other day I remember that the Untamed version of the Jingshi which LWJ stays at into is also the very place which his mother was locked away in and it hurts me body and soul to think about whether it is intentional that LWJ was given the place and chose to live there, or that he was assigned that place in general.

Cuz the thought of LWJ being assigned that place out of some Lan clan tradition that somehow for some reason, second borns of the main family are given the Jingshi as their home, is majorly fucked up that LWJ gets offered that house.

That physical distance which separates his home from the main buildings of foreshadows his future where he stands against the ways of his own clan to save and love WWX who is the very essence of un-Lan-like.

LWJ lives in the very place which trapped his mother's entire existence. in some ways it reflects how trapped he is by his own name; it encapsulates how he has lived in his youth with WWX still alive the 1st time, bound by societal rules, by duties to his clan and to his inability to be anything but the very perfect Lan head disciple that he is.

But also because of CHARACTER GROWTH, the Jingshi becomes if not one of the most iconic scenes in the Untamed (i.e. the talk with the snow outside lives rent free in my brain). The Jingshi is the place of isolation he grew with over the 13/16 years of WWX's death. So that by the time that he finds WWX again, he knows how to make it a place of shelter where they can be their most vulnerable (re: WWX sleeping there, LWJ with his hair down in the Jingshi with WWX by his side, hnnng iconicTM). it's just *chef's kiss* messed up but also *chef's kiss* beautiful.

i think one of the reasons why wangxian's love is so powerful and strong is because wei wuxian is a romantic at heart but believes he isn't deserving of love and lan wangji is also a romantic but believes he doesn't love enough so when you put them together you get this sappy romantic and unconditional love because they are each other's safe spaces. they are helping each other heal and they are unlearning their trauma together.
