Paper Mario TTYD roleswap AU

hypothetical drivel I'm putting here for funnies- pretty cut and dry, basically an alternate universe similar to the ones I've seen for Super Paper Mario, except all the party members swapped their roles while retaining their personalities

the AU is gonna include Hudson due to the uneven amount of party members, so I'm sorry, ppl cannot escape the 🐝

Peach <--> Mario

Actually no real changes to their character here, other than Mario being the kidnapped one that gets used as a vessel by the X-Nauts. Allows for more interaction since Peach isn't stuck with the "silent protagonist" curse.

Koops <--> Goombella

Koops is a meek explorer following in the foot steps of Kolorado. His father lives in Rogueport and often tells tales about the Crystal Stars, which encouraged him to go ask around.

Goombella is a spunky heroine who wants to save her old teacher, Professor Frankly, who went missing after touring a class near the castle in Petal Meadows. (the dragons all switched places in this)

Mini-Yoshi <--> Flurrie

Mini was an egg found by Jabbis, hatched and raised in Boggly Woods. He's very aggressive toward anyone who wants to harm his adoptive family, so he's pretty pissed off when he learns the X-Nauts allied themselves with the Punies. (Jabbies and Punies switched places here too, but Punio and Jabble are still friends)

Flurrie is a former wrestler from the Glitz Pit who retired, but had the spark reignited in her when she learned about the "identity thefts" happening. After which, she reenters the spotlight and travels with Peach, inspired by how tough she is under her ladylike demeanor.

Bobbery <--> Vivian

Bobbery is a grave keeper living in Twilight Town. There is a curse that drains the life energy of just about everyone in the village, thanks to a monster living in the Creepy Steeple. He hasn't left his hut ever since his wife's passing, but after seeing Peach's plight, comes out of his shell to aid the Princess who lost all her allies to the curse.

Vivian is a Shadow Siren with a heavy emphasis on the "siren" part. She uses water magic to crash the ship that Peach and the others are traveling on, in order to guard Keelhaul Key. She changes her mind later on, unable to tolerate her sisters cruelty toward others.

Ms. Mowz <--> Hudson

Ms. Mowz is an actress who starred in films adapting romance novels. She was waiting for her next big hit playing in Poshley Heights when she saw shenanigans happening on the Excess Express, and noted that Zip Toad was acting strangely.

Hudson is the infamous "Honey Syrup Thief", a bumbling burglar who is wanted throughout Rogueport. She has her own shop when she's not playing the role of thief, where she supplies ingredients to others… the X-Nauts are usually her most frequent target.

Grodus <--> Crump

Lord Grodus is the second in command of the X-Nauts, his body mostly consisting of cybernetics, which he can use to attach himself to robotic creations. Compared to his leader and the other minions, he's overly serious and ambitious. He doesn't stand for his own failures.

Sir Crump is the leader of the X-Nauts, but is strangely laid back. He makes it pretty clear to Mario that he wants to use him as a vessel to take over the world, rather than hiding it from him.

Beldam <--> Marilyn

Largely the same, but their abilities have swapped (ice and lightning) and Marilyn uses her large stature to push Beldam around, who is nothing more than a sniveling snitch and a coward instead of a scheming manipulator.

They also have no ties to the X-Nauts, unlike the original game.

Doopliss <--> Grubba

Doopliss is a Duplighost who thinks identity theft is so cool that he's going to steal the abilities of the strongest wrestlers in the Glitz Pit after imprisoning them.

Grubba meanwhile, is a Spike who drains the essence of everyone living in Twilight Town for the sake of keeping his youth.

Neither Doopliss nor Grubba join forces with the Shadow Sirens after they are defeated and Vivian abandons, due to their parts in the story. Instead, Sir Crump willingly hires the two of them to work with Grodus after learning what happened in their encounters with Princess Peach.

Luigi <--> Bowser

Luigi is now the one with random intermissions, trying to locate his brother.

Bowser goes on his own adventure with party member partners and rather than kidnapping Peach, tells her everything that has been going on… well, his twisted version of events, at least…

idk what to do with Flavio and Rawk Hawk, maybe we'll make them switch places /j

or they can stay as they are since they are fan favorites

Prompt 24: Family

024.Family.

Vivian sat down near the window, watching the stars and listening to the comforting and sometimes humorous sounds of her comrades in slumber. She was very tired after their restless three-day train adventure to Poshley Heights, yet she found she could not sleep a wink. She tucked what would be her legs, if she had them, up under her chin and peered out at the quiet, upscale town below. She was emotionally drained for reasons she couldn't help but think about, as much as she tried not to.

Earlier that day, just a few hours ago, she'd seen her sisters for the first time in over a week. Despite all the horrible things Beldam ever called her or said to her, and despite Marilyn's enabling of the continued emotional and verbal abuse, Vivian was still shocked and hurt at the iciness in her sisters' voices.

They weren't happy to see her at all. They hadn't missed her - they replaced her with a duplighost. Being viewed as their enemy was bad enough, but being replaced as if she were so insignificant hurt so much worse. She didn't know what she had been expecting to happen, but it certainly wasn't what had occurred. 

She sniffled a bit, wiped her cheek as a tear rolled down as much as she tried to stop it. All she wanted was a family who loved and supported her. Such a thing existed for others, but not so much for Vivian it seemed. She just wanted to be wanted, to be appreciated, to be valued. She just wanted to belong somewhere and with someone.  

A particularly loud snore behind her startled her; she practically jumped out of her purple skin. Glancing behind her, she saw Mario sit up in bed suddenly, his cap falling onto his lap to reveal his messy brown hair and sleep-crusted eyes. He cast her a questioning glance, concern mixed with sleepiness, although the expression was interrupted by a massive yawn.  "It's okay, Mario," Vivian reassured. She wiped her tears away, and removed the soft pink hair stuck to her cheeks from her crying. "You can go back to sleep. I'm okay."

He cocked his head curiously, as if not fully believing the Shadow Siren awake at the window, but couldn't quite keep his head up or his eyes open, and slowly nodded off as he sunk back into the bed. Vivian giggled, and a glance around the room made her pause. 

All of her companions were asleep in the room. Mario, Goombella, Koops, Flurrie, the infant Yoshi, Bobbery, and Ms. Mowz were all sharing the spacious suite together with Vivian. They trusted her enough to sleep near her, trusted her enough to allow her into their ranks and to fight by their sides, and they trusted her enough to accept her despite initially being enemies. 'Maybe family wasn't chosen for you by blood relation,' she thought as she glanced fondly at her team, 'but by the people who accept you unconditionally despite your differences.'  

Perhaps she didn't need to keep looking for a family to love and accept her. 

Perhaps what she had been looking for was already right in front of her. She pressed her head against the cool glass with a soft smile, and eventually dozed off into a sleep full of dreams.

The Party in the PMTOK Horror AU sequel I have planned for now

Olly and Olivia, the Origami twins. They've come to Rogueport in search of their father. They take the place of Mario as the protagonists. Olivia uses the power of the Vellumentals, and Olly can summon the Legion of Stationery to their aid.

The Lady. She's mainly a support character, and has assistance from the Pixls. With her ability to read enemies, she's the Goombella equivalent. She joins you in the intro, and is on vacation with her husband the Count, who himself joins the party right before the final dungeon as a high-damage output combatant.

The Fairy (Kersti). She lives in the forest near the Great Tree, acting as it's guardian, and can dispel illusions. She essentially takes Madame's Flurrie's place as the partner from the second area that also reveals secret passages.

The Ghost (Bobby's). The distress Olivia feels in the Third Chapter is enough for him to manifest once again, intent on lending his newfound, sickass ghost powers. Takes Lil' Yoshi's place as the one that can carry you across gaps.

Vivian. Originally on the side of the antagonistic Shadow Sirens, the twins showing her kindness make her realize that she doesn't want this life anymore. She's the only companion that remains unchanged.

The Captain. A returning character from Olivia's previous adventure, his past somehow catches up to him when he offers them a boat ride to an island where a Crystal Star is supposedly located, only for him to have to face the ghost of an old "friend". He takes Bobbery's place as your chapter 5 partner with a tragic backstory.

Huey, the thing that lives in the Count's basement. Or lived, at least, until the chaos with Olly's takeover of the country a year ago threw everything in chaos, allowing him to escape. He takes Ms Mowz's place in being someone who pops up in the same places the protagonists are visiting, and is an optional party member.

The only replacement member that's really missing is one for the second chapter. If you can think of someone appropriate, please tell me! ^^

This is my longest headcanon video yet. That's because these games (especially Thousand-Year Door) tend to have huge casts. Seriously, there are enough characters in these games to populate all of Puerto Rico. Because of this, even with the epic length, there are still characters that you're going to be upset I missed, so sorry about that. I only included characters for whom I already had a voice in mind, so even though certain characters may be more important than the ones I included, I left them out for want of a suitable voice. 

Don't worry, though. I'll keep my ears open.

Paper Mario AU where Mario agrees to help the Shadow Queen and dooms the world Inspired by this comic  I worked too long on this rip sadgfa

Goombella -She hopes that this is just some plan Mario made and that he’ll attack the Queen when she least expects it. But when days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, her hope has faded more and more, and she serves the Queen, doing whatever she says, whenever she wants.

Koops - Koops- along with other koopas - were forced to all train in harsh conditions to prepare themselves against any possible rebellion and attacks. Koops, upset with Mario and how everything turned out, took his anger out during training and ended up becoming one of the toughest, harshest Koopa Troopa in Shadow Queen’s army.

Madame Flurrie - Performs and entertains the Queen as her jester, she’ll try to tell jokes, perform skits, or maybe sing. Pleasing the Queen is rather difficult, since she is not easily amused and gets annoyed quickly, which can make Flurrie crack from the pressure. If she fails to please the queen, Flurrie will be punished terribly.

Yoshi Kid - Shadow Queen was originally going to leave him in the middle of the woods, but after Mario and his friends convinced her to keep him, she allows the kid to stay, but since he’s too young to fight in her army, he is just fed scraps and any trash the queen wishes to dispose of. He doesn’t complain though, since it’s the most food he’ll get throughout the week.

Vivian - Viv was lucky enough to escape and hide from the Queen and her new servants. She lost her hat and used what was left of Mario’s hat as a bandana. She had to cut her hair since it kept getting her tangled up into trees, branches, etc. Slowing her down, enemies kept grabbing onto it too. She tries to lay low and create a secret rebellion. The queen has labeled Vivian a “Traitor”

Bobbery - While he doesn’t train or fight himself, he does command the army of Koopas what to do, yelling constantly for hours. When he’s not doing that, he’s serving the queen as well, much like Goombella.

Miss Mowz - Also known as “Snitch”, she’ll go to different towns and cities to see if anyone is apart of Vivian’s small rebellion and hear if they have any important information that she can rat them out on. She’ll steal any items as proof too. She’ll report them to the queen and get rewarded, while the people she snitches on gets sent to the dungeon for who knows how long.

Mario - He is the Queen’s right hand man, he’ll defend and fight for her, she might complain and beat him around endlessly, but he doesn't seem to care. It seems that he only cares about the Queen and what she wants, he seemed to have completely forget about his friends and only focuses on her. Nobody’s too sure why, it might be because she used to be Peach, though it’s hard to say.

in paper mario the thousand year door, goombella, flurry, vivan, and miss mowz are all lesbians. all of them. miss mowz is dating flurry(steals jewelry for her pillow princess) and goombella is dating vivian(have barely held hands because they're both terrified of each other but also have fantasized about spending the rest of their lives together). these are facts. if mario had ever accepted miss mowz's proposals he would've woken up in a bathtub of ice with three kidneys missing. thanks for coming to my ted talk

I kinda miss playing Paper Mario and TTYD.

It was such a good game and  both me and my brother got to like the VERY end, to the Shadow Queen and we never were able to beat her before the 'Chocolate milk and Game Cube' incident occurred and I remember really LOVING the Shadow Queen's design.

I remember Doopliss, Vivian and Miz Mowz were my favorites. Like specifically Miz Mowz. I didn't know she was like a secret companion you could get and I was SO PROUD of myself for finally getting her. Plus I always liked the 'globe trotting theif' asthetic.
