Any tips for someone who wants to make a surrealistic void themed mod/texture pack?

I don't know the first thing about making a mod or game design so I can't help you there

As for texture pack, be prepared to make more textures than you expected (do you know how many textures an amethyst geode has? 2 rock textures, 2 types of amethyst blocks, 4 types of crystal), learn a bit ab .json files and download c++ so you can fiddle with the .json files, and check how things look ingame often

Do you have to buy Minecraft texture packs? And I'm assuming you do so like how does one download them??? And where are the texture packs you make?

you only need to buy texture packs if you have bedrock edition! (windows 10, switch, xbox, playstation, mobile, etc). if youre on java, there are countless sites dedicated to people uploading their own texture packs like https://www.curseforge.com and https://resourcepack.net.

once you download a pack you need to extract it and place it in %appdata%/.minecraft/resourcepacks. youll then be able to select it in-game.

i havent made an actual texture pack (was working on it until my hard drive died and i lost most things), but i have made a few mini packs, which you can find here.
