Byler. Mike's "avoiding" Will at Rink-O-Mania.
First and foremost, as many people (I assume) already have pointed out, Byhop siblings look quite similar in this scene:
Tumblr media
But I want to talk about the camera choices right before that.
Opening scene: Mike is out of frame and he's the only one without an employee in front of him (we can see El and Will looking at the guys at the counter). Camera zooms out, Mike's looking directly at Will.
Tumblr media
He quickly turns away as they start walking.
We couldn't see him before, but this shot implies he was watching Will the whole time.
Later, he'll give El exactly three short glances while she is looking at him non-stop, safe for the Byhop conversation

If you’re taking requests (and if you’re not totally ignore me) maybe a hurt comfort with Eddie? Like maybe the readers been sinking further into their head because they deal with anxiety and repetitive thoughts and no one in the party seems to notice except Eddie who is softer and more coddling?
You will be loved E.M.

Warnings: slight angst, anxiety, mentions of depression, mentions of Eddie almost dying, mentions of Steve's trauma, fluff

You never had it easy in life, anxiety has always been a big part of you, ever since you were a kid, you struggled with your own thoughts, with fears that you couldn’t control and with things that you probably overthought. Whenever you tried to open up and talk about it, you got dismissed or worse, pushed away, especially by people you considered friends.
As you got older, you learned to keep things to yourself, to not talk about them, knowing that you will just be ignored, misunderstood or pushed away again.
Some days it’s easy to dismiss your thoughts, to distract yourself and to think about other things. You always wear a smile on your face and show everyone how happy you are, even when you’re not.
You have amazing friends now, ones that you went through hell and back with. You know that they would never push you away or ignore you and your struggles, yet your fears always keep you from opening up to someone.
It’s easier to keep quiet.
You know that Steve is struggling with everything that happened. He acts like he is fine when he really isn’t. He has no one to come home to, no one to comfort him, no one to make him feel safe. He experienced trauma, too much of it. He keeps his feelings to himself, pretending to be okay, he is lying to everyone and to himself. Just like you do.
Maybe it’s bad to look up to him when you know how much he is suffering in silence but you take him as an example.
Keep quiet and pretend that you’re okay for the sake of others and for yourself..
Though when things get truly bad and your thoughts and your fears take hold of you, you can’t continue to act like you’re okay, you can’t continue to smile and waltz around happily, showing everyone how ‘good’ you’re feeling.
You force that smile on yourself, you force that laugh or that giggle, you force yourself to show up, you force yourself to show them that you are still okay. And you are relieved to see that no one notices how much you are struggling.
At least that’s what you think.
Eddie notices. He always notices everything about you.
He knows when you are happy and he knows when you’re not.
He knows when a smile is genuine and when it isn’t.
And right now, he knows that you are pretending.
The Wheeler’s are on vacation– well, Ted, Karen and Holly are. Nancy stayed at home and after much convincing they allowed Mike to stay behind as well. Tonight, the whole party is here for movie night.
Eddie, who had been excited for this night all week, wrapped his arms around you and pulled you into a tight hug the moment you walked through the door, he kissed your cheek and squeezed your sides, making you giggle.
That was a genuine giggle and so was the one when he surprised you with your favorite snacks that he got when he stopped by Big Buy’s just to get you the things you love.
Eddie might not be able to afford much but he spoils you with little things whenever he can, you are friends but he treats you like you’re his girl. He takes care of you, he makes sure you eat and drink enough, he reminds you to bring your jacket whenever you go out together but in case you don’t, he always brings one of his hoodies– just for you. He gets you little presents every now and then, whether it’s a cute stuffie that reminds him of you or a pretty necklace, anything he sees that he thinks you might like, he will get it for you.
He loves spoiling you, he loves paying attention to you.
Eddie always keeps a close eye on you and he always makes sure that you know that you can come to him, for anything. Whether it’s just to talk or to spend time together, Eddie is always here for you, anytime.
Tonight, he keeps an even closer eye on you. When he stopped by your workplace to bring you your favorite coffee and pastry, he had noticed that your eyes were glassy, a little red rimmed and filled with sadness– you were crying. He wanted nothing more than to pull you into a hug and ask you if you are okay but he didn’t want to push you.
Dustin, who claimed the spot next to you continuously tried to make you laugh during the movie, you did laugh and while the teen was proud of his jokes and of making you laugh, Eddie knew that you were forcing it. You didn’t even pay attention to the movie, your eyes looked distant, your mind was elsewhere.
Max asked if you were bored to which you shook your head and gave her a small smile, she offered you the snacks that Eddie got you but you declined.
Finally, you excused yourself during the second movie, no one really paid attention, everyone was too focused on the fight scene that erupted on the screen– you waited for this moment, waiting for everyone to be distracted so you could make an escape without getting unwanted attention.
Eddie’s eyes follow you, watching you walk out of the house and into the garden, you close the patio door behind you. He gives you a moment to yourself before he decides to follow you out.
He finds you sitting on the swing chair, looking up at the starry sky, your toes are touching the grass, your hair is flowing from the wind, even from a distance, Eddie can see that you are freezing, it’s a chilly summer night. Instantly, he takes his sweater off and walks towards you.
“You never bring a jacket do you?”
You flinch a little, lowering your head and turning towards him, your sad eyes lock with his but a smile tugs at your lips, “you know me.”
He chuckles, walking closer to you, he offers you his black sweater. You shake your head, “I don’t want you to get cold–”
“Sweetheart, I’m not the one wearing a sundress,” he says, raising his brows as he looks down at your cute dress, “it’s cute and you look very pretty but you must be freezing in that tiny thing.”
You blush at his words, breaking eye contact, you look down at his sweater and grab it, gladly putting it on. Warmth and Eddie’s scent embrace you, it makes your heart flutter and long for him even more.
He smiles to himself, his heart is soaring whenever he sees you in his clothes.
Sitting down next to you, he turns to you, “is the movie too boring for you?” He asks as he stares at your side profile, your skin is glowing beneath the moonlight, the urge to brush your hair back and kiss your cheek is so strong, “cause it’s definitely too boring for me,” he jokes, making you laugh.
“Are action movies not your thing?”
“Some of them are but I’m more into horror,” he shrugs, giving you a cheeky smile.
“Me too,” you smile.
“We should have a movie night by ourselves, just binge on horror movies, eat pizza and pretzels–”
“Of course we can never forget about the pretzels!” You laugh.
His eyes light up at your genuine laugh, “you know it, they’re my favorites.”
“You’re obsessed,” you chuckle. Still staring into his eyes that look even more beautiful than the stars in the night sky, “I’d love to have a horror movie night with you,” you smile.
His heart skips a beat as excitement rushes through him. It’s not that you have never hung out alone before, there were a few times but mostly, you always hang out in groups and Eddie has been waiting for a chance to be with you alone, so he can shower you with more love.
“Yeah?”
You nod, “yeah,” you whisper.
“Cool,” he says with a big smile on his face, one that makes you feel at ease.
Eddie scoots a little closer to you, he looks into your eyes. He can see the glint of happiness, the one that has been missing before. He reaches for your hand and as he turns it around, you instantly intertwine your fingers with his making his heart swell.
Even before he joined your friend group and became a big part of your life, he crushed on you hard. You were always the girl he had his eyes on, you were always the one he was excited to see whenever he walked into the hell hole that people call school. He is pretty sure that he failed too many tests because he was too busy staring at you.
“How are you, sweetheart?” He asks as he squeezes your hand.
The question isn’t half hearted, it isn’t forced or just a conversation starter, it’s a genuine question because he wants to know what you really feel like, he wants to know because he cares. He always cared. Eddie was always here, he was always the one who take care of you, the one who always noticed when you weren’t feeling well, the one who always did everything to show you how loved you are and as you think about all the moments, he was there to make you feel good, you suddenly feel tears welling up in your eyes.
His eyes widen a little when he sees the tears, when he notices the quivering lip, when he feels your tight grip on his hand. You don’t have to say it, he knows you are not doing well and as you start crying, he doesn’t even hesitate to pull you into his arms.
“Oh y/n,” he whispers as he picks you up and pulls you on his lap, wrapping his arms tightly around your form. You bury your face in his neck and put your arms around him, crying softly as he holds you.
“I’m here, sweetheart,” he whispers, rubbing your back softly, “you’re not alone, I’m here.”
Your quiet sniffles break his heart just the way your sobs did that night when he almost died as he laid in your arms. You were there, you gave him the strength that he needed, you saved him, you took care of him, you never left his side and now he will do the same for you.
He kisses your shoulder and plays with your hair, whispering some reassuring words into your ear, trying to ease your pain, trying to comfort you as best as he can and when you calm down, you pull away to look into his eyes.
Eddie cups your cheeks, wiping away your fallen tears, he pulls you closer, “you don’t have to hide your feelings, baby,” he whispers as he presses a soft kiss to your damp cheek, “I’m always here, no matter what,” he kisses your other cheek, “I don’t want you to keep things to yourself,” he kisses your forehead, “you were there for me, so let me be here for you now,” he says as he kisses your nose, making you smile a little, “you’re my girl, let me take of you.”
Your glassy eyes meet his, you notice the blush on his cheeks, the hopeful look in his eyes.
“I’m your girl?”
He blinks, smiling nervously, “i-if you want to be,” he whispers shyly as his heart begins to race, just like yours does.
“I would love to be your girl, Eddie Munson.”
His smile grows bigger, happiness rushes through him, his eyes light up and he looks giddier than ever. He grabs your cheeks harder and pulls you closer, “my girl,” he whispers before he slams his lips against yours, pulling you into a sweet and passionate kiss, one that fills you with warmth, hope and love.
Eddie holds you tighter than before, he pours all the love he has for you into the kiss, you can feel his happiness and that alone shows you will be okay eventually.
You have him by your side, that means that you will always be loved.

Steddie Upside-down AU Part 26
Part 1 Part 25
“We can’t just make Steve wait even longer because some stupid kids–” Eddie yells.
“Keyword kids, Munson,” Chief Hopper shouts back.
“–got themselves in a little bit of trouble!”
“You mean the goddamn Feds staking out their houses? With guns?” Chief Hopper asks. “That’s the ‘little trouble’ you’re talking about?”
“Why is that my proble–”
“Eddie,” Will says.
Eddie stops pacing the length of the living room to look down at where Will’s curled up on the couch, hunching in as the voices raise. He sighs, ragged and angry, but sits on the couch, flapping his hand dismissively toward Chief Hopper. “Just fucking go,” he says meanly. “You were always going to.”
“Boy,” Wayne says, warningly.
Eddie groans. “Fine, just hurry, okay?” Eddie’s nails are ragged from chewing on them. He doesn’t look up as his uncle and Chief Hopper leave the house.
Mom, Jonathan, Barbara, and Nancy are hunched over at the table drinking coffee and analyzing the maps of the areas surrounding  the lab. Will feels like his intestines are tying themselves in knots. Mike could be being held at gunpoint by now with the rest of his friends.
Steve’s still stuck on the other side, thirsty and hungry and running for his life. And alone.
Eddie jumps up and starts pacing again, running his hand through his greasy hair. Some of it comes out in a clump when his fingers get caught in a knot. He looks like he’s unraveling. Without Steve, there’s nothing anchoring him here. Will’s afraid he’ll float away.
“You’re not the only one worried, you know,” Nancy says curtly, not even looking up from the map in front of her.
Eddie stops in his tracks. “Excuse me?” he demands.
“Nancy,” Jonatha warns.
“My parents' house is being watched,” she says, using her level voice like a weapon. “Mike is out there, trapped and defenseless.”
“Yeah, but–”
“And I care about Steve, too,” she snaps.
Eddie’s fingers curl into fists at his sides, one of his fingers sticking out strangely, like it can’t quite curl like the rest of them.
Eddie doesn’t say anything, but he does sit down, teeth grinding hard enough to be audible.
They go back to waiting in silence. It doesn’t last long.
The door bursts open, people pouring in. Mike first, standing by a girl with a shaved head that WIll doesn’t recognize, Lucas and Dustin hot on their heels.
It’s Lucaus who spots him first, yelling, “Will!” and colliding with him with enough force to send him sprawling partially on top of Eddie. More arms follow one after another. Dustin, then Will’s, until they’re all piled onto the too-small couch, sending Eddie falling off the side with an oof.
Voices overlap, demanding answers Will’s not sure how to answer, where to start. He feels his breathing hitch.
“Alright, back off kiddies, let him breathe!” Eddie says, pulling bodies away from Will until he’s got a little bubble around himself.
Dustin still has his palm on Will’s calf, like he can’t help himself, while Lucas and Mike look at Eddie distrustfully. “Who are you?” Mike demands.
“Mike!” Nancy reprimands, making him whirl around.
“Nancy?” he asks, incredulous, seemingly only now noticing that his sister was in the room.
She rolls her eyes, looking back down to the table.
Knowing the signs of a Wheeler verbal smackdown when he sees it, Will says, “this is Eddie,” shrinking in on himself a bit when they all turn to him. “He saved my life.”
“Cool,” Dustin breathes, but Lucas’s eyes only narrow further.
“In the Upside Down?” Mike asks.
“That what you all are calling the parallel world?” Eddie asks, swinging his legs out from under his to sit cross cross.
Mike nods, “yeah,” he says. “Where the Demogorgon comes from.”
“Do none of you twerps know what a Demogorgon looks like?” Eddie asks, everyone ignores him.
“So everything is okay now?” Lucas asks. “We can go home?”
Chief Hopper, having made his way inside to loom over them all in the living room with his arms crossed as Wayne closes the door behind them, says, “no way kid. The Feds are swarming your houses.”
“Oh, man,” Lucas says, head in hands. “I’m so grounded.”
“And we’re not leaving Steve,” Eddie says, glaring up at Chief Hopper as Wayne rolls his eyes in the doorway.
“Steve?” Mike demands, whipping his head around to glare at Will. “Nancy’s stupid boyfriend?”
“He’s not my boyfriend!”
Will nods. “He saved my life too."
Mike glares at him the way he always does right before he folds. He sighs, slumping down like Will had just asked him to do something abhorrent. “Ughhh, fiiiine. We’ll save stupid Steve Harrington.”
“You kids aren’t saving anyone,” Wayne says, shuffling into the kitchen and accepting the cup of coffee Joyce hands him with a smile. “We’ll get him.”
Chief Hopper asks, “any idea where he’ll be in there?”
“I might know a way we can find out,” Mike says, turning to the unnamed girl where she’s standing awkwardly in the middle of the room, clutching at the hem of her dirty pink dress. “Can you find him?”
She looks scared to have all the eyes on her, but nods, looking down. “I will find him.”

& ,, AN OFFER I CAN’T REFUSE
eddie munson x gn!reader
warnings: ‘sharing a bed for the first time’ trope, hurt/comfort, pure fluff, swearing, mentions of voyuerism, mentions of vomiting, one mention of sex/sexual thoughts, this is purely sfw though!
after a night of fighting monsters and holding back tears, eddie offers a new acquaintance his bed for the night. 2k +
Tumblr media
DROPLETS of rain cascade down the foggy windows of the trailer, slick with grease and dirt from years of neglect. Eddie had never noticed the deterioration of his home’s exterior until now, grimacing at the way the water mixes with specs of mud and leaves murky streaks upon the glass.
But then again, he’s never wanted to impress anyone before. The trailer had simply been four walls and a roof, with a bed to sleep in and a shower to use whenever he could remember to wash his hair. It was a pitstop for local drunks or rebelious teens who needed their fix; They never cared for it’s upkeep, and frankly, neither did Eddie nor his uncle.
That was until you sat against his window ledge.
A storm continues to brew above Hawkins, both physically and metaphorically. You hadn’t expected your start to ‘Adult Life’ to be easy, already struggling to find a job in the two years since you had graduated high school. But then Family Video came along, and so did Robin and Steve.
And with their friendship came even more friendships, with people that you never thought you’d be trying to save the world with. Like Eleven, and Dustin Henderson, and Mike Wheeler, and Eddie Munson.
“Uh… Do y’want some water?” His voice is soft, almost timid, as though he’d been afraid of asking such a simple question. In all honesty, he had. The night had been filled with being pulled underwater and fighting monsters in an alternate universe, a sight that had been far too much for you to handle. The nausea of seeing Steve bleed out and creatures roaming in the sky had been pushed to the back of your head, adrenaline kicking in to fight for survival. But then reality had come flooding back once you’d climbed up and flipped yourself onto Eddie’s mattress, and you’d thrown up less-than-delicately from the steps that lead up to his trailer.
Eddie shuffles on his feet after not receiving a response, riddled with nerves. His ring-clad fingers are stuffed into the damp front pockets of his jeans, frizzy hair still matted to his forehead from the spontaneous swimming. He cracks under the tension, his usual awkwardness seeping through the silence. “I was gon’ offer you something stronger buuut…”
“Water’s fine,” You manage, throat burning as you produce the words. Too much lakewater, you conclude, trying to ignore the bitter taste that mixes with your saliva. Your head turns slightly, catching eyes with him for the first time since you’d heaved on his front lawn. “…Thank you.”
Eddie knows he’s an egotistical man, but he can’t recall a moment where he’s felt prouder than this. He salutes, limbs waving about as he spins on his heels and exits quickly, the faint sound of his fingers drumming along the walls growing quieter as he moves towards the kitchen.
You hear the faucet run, glad to be met with something other than the deafening silence you’d both been sitting in for the last hour.
The offer for you to spend the night had just been out of politeness, not really much thought put into it other than wanting to keep the few friends he’d made tonight, adding to his very short list.
But when you had jumped at the chance, a little too eagerly, Eddie had found himself holding his breath since the minute the last person walked out of his trailer.
He inspects the glass once, twice, ensuring there’s no stains or marks. Once satisfied, he repeats his journey until he’s stood in front of you once more.
He all but shoves the glass towards you, water spilling over the edges and trickling down his fingers. “S-Sorry—“
You smile.
He stops breathing.
You pry the glass from his fingers, taking small sips of the cool liquid. It eases the burn, if only by a little, now feeling a lot more comfortable in the plaid pyjama pants and black tee he’d kindly lent to you.
Your body no longer feels as though it’s on fire, able to relax in your own skin. Relaxation brings peace, and you take a moment to dive back into reality. The rain disappears from your line of vision for the first time since you’d sat here, now observing the bedroom you were in.
Eddie is shuffling by the bed, patting at his duvet and pillows until he’s certain they’re plump enough. He’s rolled the blankets back, a silent way of telling you that the bed is welcome for you at any time.
He busies himself next by digging through his dresser, skimming over various clothing items until he finds a set of pyjamas for himself.
He briefly lifts his head to find a private place to change, only to catch eyes with you.
An anxiety ripples through his body, his usual defence mechanism kicking in almost immediately.
“You know, most people stand outside the window when they want to stare at someone getting changed.”
A scoff leaves your lips, slight amusement dancing across your face as you stand from your position slowly. Your knees crack under the new movement, dulling the ache that had started to form. “I’m pretty sure I saw you catching a glimpse when I was in the shower.”
He raises a finger in protest, although the words die on his tongue. “That… was by accident.”
“Sure,” You let out slowly, dragging the word as you wander over to the bed. You glance down at the duvet, keeping your gaze on the cotton sheets as you think over what to say next. You don’t want the conversation to die, especially now that you’ve found the confidence to hold it. “…You okay with this?”
Eddie watches you gesture down to the bed, eyes widening before softening again. It’s not like anything dirty was going to happen, he knew that. But still, the thought of having anyone in his bed other than himself was a new adventure, one that he wasn’t sure how to express his emotions on.
So of course, he results to comedy.
“As long as you don’t mind the jet-engine snoring I let out.” He watches your skin crease beneath your eyes, the corners of your lips upturned in the most failed attempt of hiding a smile. He grins in return, a wide and beautiful act that has your heart skip a beat.
He was good at distracting you. Whether it was his voice, or his good looks that grabbed a hold on you first; Eddie Munson was your saviour tonight, and you’d wondered why you’d never found the time to properly get to know him before.
“I don’t remember it being that bad,” You give him another small smile, hands reaching down to peel the blankets back. He watches your every move, eyes never shifting. The clothes in his hands slip an inch within his weakening grip. You finally sit on the mattress, sweeping your feet under the duvet still held in your hands. “Back in my senior year, you fell asleep in the cafeteria that one time. It was loud, definitely, but it wasn’t annoying.”
It takes a moment for your words to kick in, his body stuck frozen in front of you. You use that time to sink further into his bed, now lying horizontally as your eyes stare up at him. He’s always been the centre of attention at school, even if not for the best of reasons— But he hadn’t expected you to have remembered something small like that.
Sure, you’d been in his original senior year, but Eddie had had a lot of defining moments. Getting caught smoking, drug deals with a teacher, a few hook-up rumours that made him the butt of a never-ending joke. But that particular one was tame, a memory that you’d only hold onto if you were really paying attention to him.
In those few seconds of revelation that maybe he hadn’t been viewed as a freak by everyone in Hawkins, he looks at you differently.
He no longer sees a weak person in desperate need of mummy and daddy, or a tissue box and a trip to the counsellor’s office to unload those childhood traumas. Instead he saw you, just you. A person who had risked their life tonight to assist him and his new friends in trying to save the world.
Behind all those layers, maybe, you were just like him.
“I need to change.” Is the only thing he’s able to blurt out, cringing internally at how he’d left your previous statement hanging.
You simply nod, seemingly unbothered by his lack of response to your trip down memory lane. “I can close my eyes.”
A part of him nearly scolds you for the idea, knowing full well that anybody would want to take a peek at him, just to ridicule his body and spread rumours of how his skin was somehow red like the devil’s. Or that’d contracted some sort of disease.
But then he remembers the moment of revelation he’d just had about you. He thinks back on how he’s trying not to judge you.
He looks at your face, closed eyelids on display, and undoes his belt buckle.
You hear the clank of metal hit the floor, ears twitching out of sensitivity. You’re curious, of course, but keep to your promise of no peeking. There’s a few shuffles, floorboards creaking as he shifts from foot to foot, the scratch of fabric rubbing against his damp skin.
And then the bed dips beside you, warmth radiating your side.
You keep your eyes closed, trying to ignore the way your breaths both hitch from finally crossing the line you’d both been working up to over the duration of the evening.
Eddie stammers, body laid out taunt and straight, suddenly overly aware of how much space he might be taking up. “I can take the couch. Trust me, I’ve spent one too many nights curled up on that thing after getting high and it’s really not that bad—“
“I-I don’t wanna be alone.” You finally admit the words you both knew deep down were true, spoken aloud and sealing the deal of fate between you both.
The subtle movement of his feet shifting back off the bed halts, before settling back into their previous spot.
Eddie slowly rolls onto his right side, now facing you and your closed eyes again. Your breathing is even, despite a few shakes every now and then. “Promise me you’ll stay?”
“Fuck…” He lets out under his breath, so quiet he’s sure you’ve probably not even heard him. His head nuzzles into the pillow until he’s comfortable, curly locks of hair tickling at his cheeks as his hand presses into the small space between your respective pillows. “Yeah,” he swallows thickly. “I promise.”
You sigh contentedly, shifting slightly until you too find a comfortable position. Eddie closes his eyes, trying to ignore the nightmares that already threaten to carve themselves into the backs of his eyelids, ready to play a never-ending repeat of the night you’ve both just endured.
As if by instinct, your finger brushes against his own, both of your hands trapped within the tiny gap. Another hitch of breaths fills the room, adventuring your hand further until it envelopes his. His rings are warm, conducting his body heat, which brings you an odd sense of comfort.
He feels you trace the intricate designs of the jewellrey, unable to open his eyes, much like you. He doesn’t complain, nor push you away. Instead he turns his palm upwards, ignoring the stutter in his heart when you press your own palm down firmly against his. Your fingers interlace, and he listens carefully until your soft breaths turn to even gentler snores.
Eddie Munson opens his eyes, watching you sleep throughout the night until the sun peeks through his curtains and they strain from a lack of rest.
He never often found himself scared. But that night, he swore to protect you.
Even if it meant a little more sacrifice of himself.

video games | mike wheeler + jason carver
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: mike wheeler x cheerleader! reader x jason carver
he holds me in his big arms
there was never a moment in the day when you weren't orbiting around your boyfriend. during his morning practices, you would sit on the bleachers and do your homework, in the first period you volunteered at the library where he took his dual credit literature class, at lunch, you sat opposite of him, and in passing periods you made sure to hold his hand till the last second before the bell rings. giggles and sweet cooings of how he’d see you later. he’d protect you from anything if he thought you needed it.
drunk and i am seeing stars this is all i think of
swirling your beer around and staring daggers across the room at jason with a surly expression isn’t how you planned on spending the evening. why were there so many girls gathered around him? why was he so comfortable being nice to them? you worked hard to get to where you are. you fought hard yo get rid of the nerd title in middle school and made friends with the worst type of people. this was every girls dream, so why weren’t you happy? you had the title of being the affable basketball players cheerleader girlfriend. it didn’t feel like enough.
watching all your friends fall
there was no arguing with jason. not because he would lash out or ignore the problem but because he was sweet in every way. he was understanding and caring beyond belief and that annoyed you to no end. why couldn’t he just argue and tell you that you’re crazy? instead, he’d kiss your temple and assure you there was no competition. you’d whine and beg him to only treat you with kindness. “you shouldn’t worry about that you know i only have eyes for you.” you were prone to jealousy and rumors always hurt you. you wish he was mean so you felt less selfish and terrible.
he crosses his arms and gives an expression he reserves solely for you. “you know that i love you, right? so i don’t get why it matters if we don’t kiss you in public. that stuff is just for us.” and like how all these arguments conversations end he hugs you. though nothing ever changes. conversations about his asshole friends and their girlfriends breaking up always seem to change the subject until the next week. why did it seem like every week was the same boring thing? so of course you wrap your arms around his neck and mutter i love you too in his neck.
this is my idea of fun
mike ‘frog face’ wheeler is hovering over you in the men's locker room. mere minutes until basketball practice is done. you push him away from you and onto the bench. maybe you were crazy or he’s an acquired taste but there was something about how puffy his lips got after making out with him that made you feel insanely attracted to him. “you have a boyfriend.” he was about to go on about just like always. you left kisses on his ghostly white neck. his skin blotchy and covered in hickies the way you liked. “so do you want me to stop?” he shook his head quickly and nuzzled his nose against yours. he looked so desperate and he wanted you to kiss him back so badly. why did you love the rush you got from doing something so reckless and dumb?
playing video games
“when are you going to tell him?” you look up from your book and at mike who’s sitting in front of a paused gaming console. “what are you talking about wheeler?” mike stares at the floor for what felt like an eternity before speaking again. “when are you going to tell him it’s over?” you make your way out from under his covers wearing the lace underwear he likes. you hold his face in your hands and give him a big kiss. he told you he likes the way your lips feel like how he always imagined them. he shakes his head and you sigh, “soon. okay?” but you lied. continuing to avoid him in every hallway, never looking in his general direction, and refusing to acknowledge his existence at school.
it’s you, it’s you, it’s all for you
it’s the last game of the season and everyone who cares about basketball is on edge. except for mike of course who really does not care one bit. everyone stared at him when he refused to clap after the three pointers jason made back to back. why would he? instead he opted to clap for the opposite team who’s player elbowed jason and received a personal foul. mike watches sourly as you run to jump into jasons arms. why did you make him feel this bad? he made you feel good in ways that jason couldn’t. mikes eyes linger on you at how you’ve been pushed to the side by everyone who wants to see the captain. you look into the stands and your eyes meet. no matter how much you changed your hair and your makeup you’d always be on the sidelines. the expression in your eyes. the posture and look of defeat plastered on your face reminded him of middle school. maybe things would’ve been different if you just accepted the simple fact: once a loser always a loser.

Most Hip and Horrific
Mike almost burst into laughter when Max tosses the mirror up to his face. He knows what she's doing, but-
"You think I'm a vampire?" He asked, brow raised.
Max shrugged, sliding into place next to him and looking at the mirror, or he assumed at least he couldn't really tell because of her glasses.
"Worth a shot," She murmured, "leave no stone unturned and all that,"
"Look," Mike started as the rounded up to his locker, "since I've gotten to this school," he opened the locker, "people have assumed I'm a witch,"
Max snickered.
"A ghost, a cupid-" Max was full on laughing now.
"Well, now you can add vampire to your growing list, Wheeler,"
Mike rolled his eyes. It's no surprise though, he was in a school of monsters after all and none of his fellow students had managed to figure out what type of monster he was. Some of them had come to the conclusion that he was human and simply attending for fun.
"None of those is even remotely correct,"
"Well unless you're human-"
"Nope, no way Mayfield that's for you guys to figure out," He grabed his books and shut the locker.
"You're enjoying this way too much," Max said as the snakes on her head started wriggling in annoyance.
Mike shrugged.
The class was filled with chatter when the two of them arrived. The only two seats that were available were probably the worst in the class. They were directly in the instructor's line of sight and Mike groaned.
"Again, seriously?" He asked.
Max opted to ignore him and make her way to her seat. This was going to be a boring class. Mike reluctantly followed suit.
"Well class…" Mike took the opportunity to scan the class as his, mildly ancient, instructor droned in. El, who was clearly not paying attention to the class, waved at him. One of her hands, cleanly detached at the stitches, is in the process of giving the other a manicure.
Mike half expects the hand to start doing a dance when that's over with, but at least El was entertained. He smiled at her and then at Will, sitting next to her.
Just as Mike was about to reluctantly turn his attention to the board, several students, including Max, got up. She came back with a heater and some beakers.
"You're getting the rest of the supplies," Max offers.
Mike groaned as the second wave of students began to go up. He goes with them. El, clearly of the correct opinion that he hadn't been paying attention, stops next to him in line.
"Here," She said, offering him the hand that had been doing her manicure.
"Oh, thanks El," Mike gently took the hand from her as their turn at the supplies came up. El smiled and waved, with her still attached hand, before heading off to grab her own supplies one-handed.
Mike briefly wondered if he should offer to help her, but just as the debate in his hand began El had already started heading back to her seat with her supplies gathered in one arm.
Mike shook his head and gently placed the hand El had given him down so that it could gather the supplies for him. His instructor either didn't notice or couldn't be bothered to care because nothing was said.
Gathering up the supplies, Mike made his way back to his seat. Max groaned and got started working on their experiment, which Mike still didn't know, while Mike leaned as far back from the fire as possible.
"Ohhhhhh, poor Max getting stuck with all the work," Dustin teased.
Right. Dustin and Lucas were right behind them.
"I'll dump this on you when I'm done," Max said flatly.
"Please don't. Suzie would hate that-" Dustin started, hooves tapping nervously.
"What are we making again?" Mike asked, leaning back in his chair slightly.
"Wow, you really zoned out there," Lucas snickered.
"Maybe," Mike conceded.
"It's a glow potion genius. Makes you glow and stuff," Max answered gruffly, completely concentrated on mixing the potion.
Mike didn't justify that with an answer.
*
Max made Mike drink the potion. He and half of his classmates were glowing brightly like fireflies.
"This sucks," Mike groaned. Max snickered next to him.
"Well I made it, which means-"
"I have to drink it," Mike finished, "yeah, yeah, I'm aware of our agreement Mayfield,"
Mike was absolutely being annoying by calling Max by her last name so he wasn't exactly surprised that she aimed a kick at his leg.
"Ow, seriously?"
"Yeah, seriously," She mocked.
Mike rolled his eyes. "Where are we heading anyway,"
"The pool. El wanted to watch the fear squad race against the swim team,"
El wanting to watch the fear quad made sense, Mike was pretty sure she wanted to join. What didn't make sense was why the fear squad would want to race the swim team.
Mike paused, "Why-"
"I don't know,"
That tracked.
Mike shrugged and followed Max to the pool where the fear squad was, predictably, being dominated by the swim team. His eyes scanned the room looking for an signs of El or their other friends and upon finding none, his eyes settled down on the race between the fear squad and swim team.
"They're not very good at this are they?" Mike asked flatly as one of the fearleaders made a very poor attempt to hasten their swimming.
"They're swimming against sea monsters,"
"Exactly," Although he might've said that, Mike was pretty sure that a majority of the poor swimming he was witnessing was at least partially due to a lack of skill. If you asked him it all seemed very unsafe, but with all the swim team members around it was unlikely anything would happen.
"Does El want to join the swim team too or something?" Mike asked. It wasn't uncommon, although it wasn't necessarily common either. Max snorted and as though saying her name summoned the young frankenmonster, El seemingly materialized from behind the bleachers and waved. As she started making her way over, the rest of the party followed suit.
Lucas was so focused on his phone that Mike was surprised he didn't trip. Distantly, Mike took a moment to marvel at the fact that he could even use a phone.
"Hey! Pharaoh eyes on the prize!" Just as the words left Max, Lucas nearly tripped over some discarded piece of swim gear. Oh. There it is. That's what Lucas got for not focusing.
He put the phone away. El giggled and Max grinned. Dustin and Will both seemed exasperated and Mike? Mike laughed.
"Seriously man," Lucas chided when the party arrived.
"You should've seen your face," Mike said between bouts of laughter. Lucas had seemed so out of it when he'd nearly fallen. It was hilarious.
Lucas continued to sulk. "She looks like she's gonna win," El said, pointing at one of the swimmers.
Mike takes a break from laughing to observe the race with El.
"Really? I think she's more likely to win," Mike said, pointing at another swimmer.
The two of them go back and forth with their bets until the end of the race. The girl Mike had pointed out won.
The teams pack up and leave. It goes well for about five minutes until Walsh shows up. The party is just about ready to leave too, the swim team has already left along with ninety percent of the fear squad.
"Well, well, well look what we have here the little odd squad,"
Mike could feel irritation welling up inside him already.
"You know it's no wonder you lot seem so drawn to each other, your basically normals disguised as monsters," Walsh sneered.
"I could show you what a normie is right now," Max mumbled under her breath, fingers twitching as though she was getting ready to remove her sunglasses.
"What was that?"
"I said, I'll show you what a normie is right now!" Max snapped.
"A normie," Walsh started, "acts exactly like your little friend," he walked towards El at this and snatched her bracelet, "here," at this he tossed El's bracelet into the pool.
Mike felt his anger rise.
"At least she's got a personality on her," Mike snapped.
For some reason that must have been Walsh's breaking point because the next thing Mike knows his lungs are full of water, meaning that Walsh had pushed him in.
The freak out that ensued above the pool was epic.
"What the hell Walsh?!" Max screamed, the only thing between her and turning Waldh into stone being Lucas's hold on her.
"You drowned him?" El asked, hesitantly.
Will looked between freaked out and ready to attack while Dustin seemed like he was trying to figure out what he'd just witnessed.
It looked like Walsh had managed to drown Mike which was illegal and would definitely get him expelled. Someone had rushed off and apparently gotten a teacher seeing as Ms. Kelly had wandered in with a student trailing after her.
"What is going on?" She asked, tone leaving no room for anything that wasn't an answer.
"Troy drowned Wheeler!" A student shouted.
The face that Ms. Kelly made was interesting, it was something between rage and complete disbelief.
"Troy Walsh drowned Michael Wheeler?" She repeated slowly, as though she was trying to see if the words would fit.
"Yes," the student stated, although they didn't sound like they were sure anymore.
"Well," Ms. Kelly started as the water started shifting around behind her, "I'd be surprised if Walsh-"
Mike popped up behind her at that, but he didn't look quite like the Mike that the party was used to. For one, he had scales, fins, and gills.
"-managed to drown a sea monster," Ms. Kelly finished as Mike raised a webbed hand, showcasing El's bracelet.
"Found your bracelet," Mike said, with a grin.

Lucas is so under appreciated as a character, this fandom simply does not deserve him.
For real! Lucas is incredibly loyal and caring to his friends and is also just incredibly funny. It's so frustrating how criminally little attention he gets (especially beyond shipping). The fact that he gets an entire book detailing his experiences of being one of the only Black people in a small town in the 80s and people are only focusing on one paragraph about Mike Wheeler is so frustrating and pretty telling too to be honest.
I was trying to decide if I should order the book or not but scrolling through the Lucas on the Line tag and even the Lucas tag, it was literally all about Mike. I get you ship him with Will or with Eleven and this is cute fan content or whatever, but don't post about that and completely ignore everything else about the book. Which, may I repeat, is not about Michael Wheeler! Keep that stuff to your own tags please. And yes I'm tagging this with Byler and Mileven, you guys need to stop clogging up the Lucas and Lumax tag with your ships!
Not to mention how willing this fandom is to cheer on horrible white men like Billy, who is incredibly racist too, and Jason. Like they will see Billy violently target someone because of their race or see Jason and his gang hold Lucas at gunpoint or body slam an 11 year old girl and try to justify it or even pretend they did nothing wrong (no Billy did not hate randomly dislike Lucas for no reason, how oblivious are you?). Meanwhile some fans hate Lucas because he liked basketball and didn't want to be bullied (which was very different to the bullying his white friends experienced because it was racially motivated) or because he didn't trust Eleven in S1 which was entirely reasonable of him to not do.
Lucas has been an amazing and loyal friend (not to mention a great boyfriend too) time and time again and has saved their asses since S1, but people will still hate him or not care about him. The way this fandom will do anything to redeem the crustiest white guy ever and then hate on Lucas? Yeah, they don't deserve him. I'm White so someone can let me know if I've overstepped, but it's really frustrating to watch this fandom neglect Lucas over and over again. Thanks for the ask, anon.

TOO CLINGY
Eddie Munson x Latina reader
A/n: I saw a bunch of fics like this so I wanted to do one myself.
You were a very overly affectionate kind of person. You were the kind of person who kissed their friends on the cheeks. Held their hand, gave out warm hugs. It was who you were. It was no different for you when you and Eddie started dating. Your affection was tenfold with him. He loved it, he never had someone give him as much love as you did. People never hugged him like you did. Here and there, sure. And it mostly been friends. But you made sure to remind him how much you cared about him. You were everything to him.
“I don’t know how you do it. Don’t you get tired of it? I would never let anyone touch me so much.” Mike said, one day to Eddie at the hellfire club. Little did he know, you were about to knock on the door. Until you heard Mike speak.
Your heart sank, maybe you were overdoing it. You walked away from the door before you could hear anything else. You didn’t want to hear Eddie’s reply. It would hurt too much if he agreed.
What you didn’t hear was the opposite of what you feared.
“She’s my girlfriend. Plus I like it. Love it, actually. It makes me feel good. I bet if your girlfriend was here. You’ll be all over her. So mind yourself Wheeler.” Eddie said.
.•° ✿ °•.
For the next couple of days, you tried to avoid Eddie as much as you could. To Eddie’s horror, he felt he had done something really wrong. This was not like you at all. He missed you, he missed your embrace. Your kisses, your affection. He didn’t understand why it suddenly all changed.
“She’s going to break up with me, man. I know it. I can feel it.” He said to his friends at lunch. They all looked at each other with worry.
“She doesn’t even come to lunch. I haven’t seen her. I’m freaking out man.” He said, he hadn’t sat down once. Just pacing back and forth. Mike felt guilt, Eddie did mention you were going to come that day to hellfire. So when you didn’t show up, Eddie had shrugged it off. But it had been days now.
“Maybe she needs some space.” Dustin said trying to rationalize.
“Space. Y/n doesn’t know anything about space. I like that okay. I like being engulfed in her okay. I-.” He stopped mid sentence when he saw you. You were talking to Robin, food tray in your hands. Your hair was in curls. You had on your regular heeled boots. You were even wearing a skirt. His hands itched to touch you.
“See, she came to lunch. Go talk to her dude. You’re making me anxious.” Dustin said, as he walked over to you. Your eyes went wide, you turned your whole body around and booked it out of the room. Robin following behind you.
Eddie stopped mid step, he wanted to scream in frustration. He walked out of the cafeteria to chase you down.
“Why are we running?” Robin said, as she tried to make sure her food didn’t spill from the tray.
“I’ve been ignoring Eddie for the past couple of days. I was aiming for a week but then we went into the cafe- ah!” Eddie was behind you guys, you forgot how fast he was.
“Ditch the tray Robin! Ditch the tray!” Robin dumped her tray near the trash can. And you both began to run faster.
“Please y/n! I want to talk to you!”
“Why are you ignoring him again? Did he hurt you? I will kill him!” Robin said, you both were running faster than was necessary. Robin wasn’t good at running so her breath was coming out harshly.
“I just don’t want to be clingy anymore.” You yelled back. Robin had stopped abruptly, falling to the ground. You stopped. And went down with her.
“Robin, are you okay?” She shook her head.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-.”
“It’s - okay.” She said, you grabbed the milk you had in your hands from the tray and handed it to her. She gulped it down as fast as she could.
“Y/n!” Eddie had finally caught up to the two of you. Your heart raced but you knew you couldn’t keep avoiding him.
“We can talk, just. Just give us a minute.”
.•° ✿ °•.
You stared at him as he looked at you. He wanted so badly to wrap you in his arms. But he knew he needed to give you “space.”
“What’s up with you? Why have you been avoiding me? Do you want this to be over? Do- do you not love me anymore?” He asked you all at once.
“I-. I heard Mike ask you if you were tired of me. And it just made me spiral. So I just assumed and I know I shouldn’t have but I did. I’m sorry okay.” Tears we’re falling down your face.
Eddie instantly wrapped you in his arms. Screw space. Screw Mike wheeler for making you think he hated your affection.
“If I had a problem with it, I would have said something by now. I love you. I love the way you love. I don’t want that to change.” You leaned up to kiss him on the cheek. He felt his heart flutter. His knees go weak. He’d miss this so much. He reached down to turn your face. He stared at you for a while before leaning and kissing you. You wrapped your arms around his neck and he pulled you up into him further. He had to touch you everywhere. His hands were everywhere. He missed you so much. He couldn’t help himself.
“I was going crazy without you, baby. Never do that again.”
“I’m sorry.”
He kissed you harder to show you all was forgiven.

Steve and Eddie reunite 15 years later. mood: bittersweet. >:)
(My askbox is open for ST prompts!)(Previous Prompts)
You think you're real stinking cute huh
------
Eddie nervously attaches the sticker with his name on it to his chest. He'd kind of expected they could write their own, but someone had already filled them all out with the approved guest list. Something to keep their hands busy, maybe. He regrets not bringing his own. He kind of regrets coming here at all, except that he's already here, and it would feel worse to run, bring up even more bad memories.
So he doesn't. He sticks his hello my name is sticker to his shirt and he strides into the school gym, and he holds his head up like he practiced. He notices the stares he promised himself he wouldn't, but he ignores them like he promised himself he would, and that's enough for now. That's enough bravery to count.
Nancy is already by the punch on the long refreshment table. She's got a bottle of water in her hands and her eyes meet his across the room, and she nods. She's not there to have any- she's there to guard the bowl. She's there to make sure people only take things out, not put things in. He sidles over between groups of chatting folks, and comes to a stop beside her.
"Wheeler," he greets.
"Munson. I didn't think you'd actually show."
He shrugs, one shouldered. "You either, hotshot."
Even in the low light he catches the pink in her ears. He hasn't seen her in a few years, not since she rabbited off to New York for her big reporting gig, and he'd finally caught a break, moved away from Hawkins. He still calls sometimes, leaves messages for her to let her know how things are, and she leaves the same kinds of messages for him. It's hard to talk, when he doesn't know what to say. It's harder not to talk, when there are so few who understand, when he knows how much they all need each other.
"It's been enough time," she says, smiling in her quiet way. "I guess I wanted to see if the scars were still here. Make sure they're still healing."
Eddie nods, knows the feeling. It's not about the healing, not entirely; it's about the festering. It's about making sure the infection stays gone, that it hasn't come back. That they did save the world, save this town, and that it stays saved. That no other children have to go through what they go through.
"Have you... seen anyone else yet?" she asks, attention turning to the group approaching her punch bowl. "Is he...?"
He shakes his head. If Steve's here, he hasn't found Eddie yet. "You?"
She nods in indication, and Eddie twists to see Robin across the room, hands around a red solo cup of punch, leaning close to a woman Eddie doesn't recognize. He wonders what happened to Rachel; the last new year's letter from Robin - a staged photo of her in a terrible sweater beside her girlfriend in an equally terrible sweater - he'd hung on the fridge so he'd remember her face. In vain, it appears.
"Jonathan's around somewhere," she adds, doling out punch still. "I think he was taking Argyle on a tour."
Eddie isn't sure if that means an actual tour, or a tour to someplace quiet to make out- it's hard to tell with Argyle. He'd love either option. Maybe it's both. Eddie smiles.
"How long are you in town?" he asks, accepting a cup of punch from her. She'd made one too many for the group moving away, or maybe she'd just made one for him on autopilot. It's not bad, a bit zingy.
"A few days." She picks up her own drink like a shield. "Visiting my family. Mike's back for the weekend, too, if you want to see him. He heard we were all coming back for the reunion and planned for it."
"Oh," Eddie manages. He'd expected to see Nancy and Robin, and even Jonathan and Argyle a little, but not- "Any of the others?"
Nancy shrugs, but there's an apology in it. "I only found out a couple hours ago that Mike was coming in."
Eddie nods, smiles. He opens one arm and she skirts the table to hug him, both of them careful of their drinks. She's as small as she ever was, and just as big. It feels like hugging sunlight, of touching the only good memories of this place. He kisses the top of her head because he can, because it's been so long since he got to, and lets her go.
"You should talk to Robin," she tells him as she returns to guard duty. He's pretty sure she's not even actually part of the volunteering group.
He nods, holds up his glass in thanks, and ambles back into the crowd. It's a few years worth of graduates; the devastation of the Upside Down the year he'd graduated had left very few of his classmates alive, and the lowerclassmen, either. Their years had been grouped, to even make the event worthwhile- one more healing scar in Hawkins, he supposes.
Robin sees him before he can get to her, and she practically launches herself at him from several feet away. He catches her, because there's no other choice, and lets the momentum of her hug spin them part way around. She squeezes almost tight enough to wind him, and smooches both his cheeks loudly.
"Can't believe you made it!" she exclaims gleefully. "I thought for sure you'd have a gig or an interview, or whatever the hell rock stars do these days."
Eddie blushes, the way he always does when friends make a point about his job, and doesn't correct her about the truth of the matter. "And miss a chance to see you?"
"Sweet," Robin tells him, "but I know who you're here for. I haven't seen him yet... Did you...?"
"I don't think he's here yet," Eddie says for the second time.
He's supposed to be, but just like the rest of them, coming back to this place after leaving it... Eddie hears of people saying they're homesick, hears people talk about how some things feel like coming home like that's a good thing. Coming back to Hawkins doesn't feel good. It feels terrifying. It feels like walking on thin ice in the spring, waiting for the drop, the icy chill of another disaster. It isn't a home- it's a pursuit predator, stalking after every step they take no matter where they go, and turning to face it - even for these people, even for the ones who fought side by side through it - is terrifying. He wouldn't blame Steve for skipping it.
He won't, because Steve's never turns away from terrifying things, but Eddie won't blame him if he does this time.
"Who's your friend?" he says, instead, and sees the flash of hurt in Robin's eyes that tells him Rachel hadn't ended well. He twitches a sympathetic smile before she turns away.
"Jessie," Robin calls, and the woman turns, eyes bright at hearing her name. She takes in Eddie, must recognize him, because she excuses herself from the couple she'd been entertaining in Robin's absence, and joins her in front of Eddie.
She holds out a hand, and Eddie even takes it politely; she's new enough not to hug him, then. "You must be Eddie. I've heard a lot about you.
"Ah, it's all true," he says with an open grin, the sort he gives after gigs when he's tired but friendly. The sort Robin clocks immediately and rolls her eyes at, though she doesn't call him on it.
"Even the bad stuff?" Jessie asks, but it's light. The sort of joke that doesn't know what bad stuff even is, and Eddie knows this one won't work either. It never does, not with someone that doesn't know.
"Especially the bad stuff," he says, just as light, and gives a little wink. "I'm sure I could tell you a story or two about Robin, later."
She smiles, looking at Robin like there might be a scandal. There's not, at least not one Eddie can actually tell her, but they'd had a few easier years after high school. They'd had a few good times, to sweeten the bad stuff. The road trip they'd all taken together around the US in '87, living in one another's pockets and getting into trouble, has a few good tales tucked into it.
Robin smiles back, and then tucks her drink into Jessie's free hand as if something's caught fire, and Eddie turns just in time to see him before Robin shouts over the crowd: "STEVE!"
He's standing at the entrance, sticking his little name tag where it used to sit at Family Video, and he looks up at the sound of her voice. Eddie sees his glance flick sideways, clocking Eddie, before he breaks into a broad smile for Robin and hurries to meet her in the middle. She pounces him worse than she'd pounced Eddie, and Steve catches her even more surely, still more than strong enough to hold her up, keep her feet off the ground entirely as he squeezes right back.
She laughs as he sets her down, and together they walk back to Eddie and Jessica. Eddie watches Steve glance over Jessica, come to the same conclusions as Eddie, and smile politely. She doesn't offer her hand to him, and he doesn't offer his, too busy looking at Eddie. Robin murmurs something to Jessie, who nods and leaves them, heading for the punch table.
"You came," Steve says, like he's actually surprised.
"You, too."
"Almost didn't." Steve shakes his head and looks around like an indication. "Coming back here..."
Eddie nods. "What changed your mind?"
"Dustin," Steve said, smile a little helpless even after all this time. "Said we couldn't hang out until I hung out with the rest of you."
"Maybe they made a pact," comes a familiar voice from behind Eddie, and he opens their small circle to include Nancy as she joins them. He glances over, sees Jessie is manning the guard post now. "Mike said the same thing to me. Pretty sure Will sent Jonathan."
"Am I the only one who wanted to come just to see all of you?" Robin quips, but her smile is genuine, and a little bit of a relief to see.
"We wanted to see you, Rob," Steve says, exasperated. "It's just..."
"We got away," Eddie says. "It wasn't all in one piece, but we all got away alive. Hard to come back when that almost wasn't the case."
She nods, looks down. "I know. But, there was good, too, wasn't there? We all found each other."
Steve takes her hand and squeezes gently, smiles over at Eddie and Nancy. "Yeah, we did. One good thing to come out of this place."
They stand quietly, palms on the open wounds of their shared past. Eddie's always appreciated visiting with the others here or there, the reminder that he hadn't imagined all of it. The scars are a strong reminder, but not a good one, not one he wants. But this? This he could do forever, even if it always leaves an ache in his chest, seeing even one of them. It's been fifteen years since they'd all last gathered in the same place. Too long.
"We should grab Jon and Argyle," he says, almost an impulse, definitely a desire. "Ditch school and grab dinner out together, like old times."
Nancy smiles, glancing between Steve and Eddie, and then holds out a hand to Robin. "I have an idea where the boys are. Come help?"
Robin takes her hand too quickly, and Eddie has to hide a smile. Still a thing, then. He nods his thanks to Nancy, and watches as they sneak off to the areas of the school they're not supposed to be in. Eddie laughs softly, runs a hand through his hair, and leans toward Steve.
"Maybe this time it'll take?"
Steve snorts, and nudges at Eddie's arm. "Robin won't go to New York, and Nance won't leave it."
"Ah, well," Eddie laments. He's not as convinced, but Steve knows Robin better than anyone.
Steve looks over at him, a fond smile on his face. "Look at you. You really are a hopeless romantic."
Eddie glances around, but they're off to the side, out of the way, out from under the lights. There's no one here that would look twice at them that hasn't already, so Eddie leans in close and murmurs quietly: "And whose fault is that?"
Steve turns his head enough to kiss the blush on Eddie's cheek, and gives him a wink as he puts his hands in his own pockets. "Pretty sure you were a sap way before you married me. Tried to set me up with Nancy because you thought-"
"Okay, okay, enough," Eddie laughs, shoving at him. "Flight was okay, though?"
"Yeah," Steve agrees. "Checked into the hotel. Big enough to take everyone back to, if we want to hang out."
Eddie nodded. He'd booked a suite, just on the hope they could all stay at least one night together. "They'll come," he says. "They miss us just as much as we miss them."
Steve smiles, not quite as bright as Eddie's used to, but better than Eddie had thought he'd get here. "I know. Let's go find them."
He holds out his hand, the gold band on it glinting in the shifting glow of the reunion lighting, and Eddie takes it with a smile. Together, they sneak off into the darkness to join their friends.

"another perfect moment that doesn't feel like mine, another thing I forced to be a sign"
"push away all the people who know me the best"
"every good thing has turned into something I dread"
"and I tell someone I love them, just as a distraction"

"I know I could've stopped it all, god why didn't I stop it all?"
"'cause loving you is loving every argument you held over my head"
get him back!: max (NOT about lumax, just how she'd handle a different breakup)
"I want sweet revenge, I want him again"
"do I love him? do I hate him? I guess it's up and down"
"I wanna make him really jealous, I wanna make him feel bad"
"I wanna break his heart, then be the one to stitch it up"
"I wanna meet his mom, just to tell her her son sucks"
love is embarrassing: will
"and then, you kissed some girl from high school"
"waited by my phone like a goddamn fool"
"god, love's embarrassing as hell"
"and I consoled you while you cried over your ex-girlfriend's new guy" (minus the new guy part)
"you found a new version of me"
"I give up, I give up, but I keep comin' back for more"
the grudge: lucas
"how could anyone do the things you did so easily?"
"I try to be tough, I try to be mean, but even after all this, you're still everything to me, and I know you don't care, I guess that's fine"
"one phone call from you and my entire world was changed"
"and I doubt you ever think about the damage that you did, but I hold onto every detail like my life depends on it"
"and I know in my heart, hurt people hurt people"
(this song doesn't 100% represent lucas and max's relationship in s4 imo but it comes the closest)
pretty isn't pretty: el
"there's always something in the mirror that I think looks wrong"
"when pretty isn't pretty enough, what do you do?"
"I could change up my body and change up my face, I could try every lipstick in every shade, but I'd always feel the same"
"fix the thing you hated, and you'd still feel insecure"
"I chased some dumb ideal my whole fucking life, and none of it matters and none of it ends"
teenage dream: will
"they all say that it gets better, it gets better, but what if I don't?"
"when am I gonna stop being wise beyond my years and just start being wise?"
"I'll blow out the candles, happy birthday to me" (birthdaygate)
"but I fear that they already got all the best parts of me"
"will I spend all the rest of my years wishin' I could go back?"

Is Mike also "going backwards" in trying to be best friends with Will again after the year of distance? Going back to someone you broke up with / grew apart from isn't always regression. Not if you've grown and changed since then. Steve's entire point was that he has grown, because of Nancy. The same way Mike is growing because of Will. Why is it terrible for Nancy to give Steve a second chance, but we're rooting for Mike to get one with Will? Sorry, but I don't see it. Looks like ship bias.
Contemplated even answering this. But, respectfully, disagree on your whole take. I don't like st*ncy nor j*ncy (no ship bias). AND If anything we see Nancy and mike going back to people they don't romantically love (el and steve), because of their own insecurities. It's just pure regression for the wheeler siblings and el & steve. They're all going backwards by trying to be couples again (st*ncy /m*leven).
El and steve have paralleled a bunch in prior seasons in terms of their ships. Both ships being called "bullshit", both wheelers not being able to say "i love you" to them privately, both gals storming from the dinner table (as steve/mike ignore it- like ted watching karen storm from the table), and many other examples .m*leven /st*ncy also paralleled karen/ted in various other ways. Mike and steve even share identical lines to ted - in relation to st*ncy and m*leven.
Did mike or el progesss in their relationship since s3 - no . S3 and 4: m*leven ignore their friends for eachother, lie to eachother, fight, say "i love you" at the end. Rinse and repeat. We see even in s3 el regressed and reversed all her progress from s2 - going from "friends don't lie' and wanting to explore the world outside of the cabin. To wanting to stay in the cabin all day to makeout with mike , and ignoring/lying to her friends about curfew to do so. Did mike's hero worship (at the begging of s4) that upset el stop - nope (mike just said she was his "superhero " at the end of s4). Mike never actually rectifies the things that el doesn't like. Just like how El never apologized for spying on mike in s2-3, and mike didn't apologize in s3 for lying to her (the reason El broke up with him initially). And than in s4 el just ends up lying to him instead. Just pure regression. Little to no positive progress . They bring out the worst in eachother.
Steve tells Nancy how he crawled " backwards" as a baby, but is moving forward, but then right after asks nancy to be with him. It is regression when steve said in s3 he was over nancy, romantically. Robin also states in s4 steve "doesn't know what he wants" romantically. Seems like he thinks he wants nancy since everyone is saying he should be with her - and because he hasn't had any luck romantically since Nancy. This same thing happened in s3. Steve in s3 says "what people tell you , you should like- it's all bullshit"- bs being a nancy phrase . But he does the opposite later in s3. He said he didn't like robin to dustin, but than dustin said he should be with robin romantically (so steve asked her out, thinking his care for her - must be romantic ).He even tells robin before the confession "dustin says I have to find my suzie"). His actions contradicted his words. He asks Robin out because others say it's best for him, not because he actually felt a romantic spark. History repeats in s4: Dustin says in s4 he must like nancy, since he won't Date robin (and steve says there's other reasons ). And he tells dustin he's not into nancy (just like he told dustin he wasn't into robin in s3) . He tells dustin he sees nancy as a "friend" . But in s4 after this, he tries asking nancy out again (just like what happened with steve /robin in s3- after dustin played matchmaker). Note nancy and robin even both romantically reject steve in a bathroom too. And again it wasn't just dustin , but Robin & eddie also telling him to be with Nancy. Everyone says he likes or should be back with nancy . And steve in s4 is described as "not knowing what he wants" romantically- making him more susceptible to peer pressure in regards to romance. And now he wants her back after saying he was over her 2x- probably because everyone is pressuring him and telling him he likes Nancy. Ok, sounds like he regressed from s3 ,doing the same thing he did with robin to nancy : he even says to 'not like things others say you should like' -> to conforming to what others say he wants (aka everyone telling him he likes and should be with nancy). So asking her to be with him. Despite earlier saying he isn't into her anymore.
Has steve changed for the better- yeah. But Nancy hasn't changed in regards to romance. If anything nancy flirting with steve while jonathan and her are fighting- is similar to what happened in s2 . S2: (steve and her are fighting so she ran to jonathan). S4:( jonathan and her are fighting so she runs back to steve). She didn't progress she's also regressed (just like mike, el, and steve). No hate to nancy. Just those relationships are pure negative regression, they're all going "backwards" in my opinion.
But nancy wants to go to Emerson for journalism. The way she initally winced at the idea of having 6 kids (steve's dream). And Her looking like she was going to reject steve during his confession. I just don't think steve and nancy want the same things in the long run. I don't think nancy will end up with either jonathan or steve tbh. J*ncy ended with an open ending of them struggling and still lying to one another. Something m*leven, and the divorced couples struggled with. Literally both divorced couples yelled "don't lie to me".
Idk ,at the end, the way she gives away the stuffed rabbit for college so "someone else can enjoy it". Could theoretically apply to steve /jonathan. Hare-ington / jonathan 's rabbit story. She'd be letting them go- so all 3 can fulfill their dreams- that aren't compatible. Something jonathan was worrying about at the beggining of s4- was taking her dream away (if they stayed a couple). Nancy letting both go romantically, would be in my opinion be the best way for all 3 to be happy in the long run (and fulfill their dreams). They could all still be friends, but romantic partners... idk . They just don't seem to be a good fit in the long run, in my opinion. The 3 all have diferent ,contradicting life goals.
And the st*ncy and byler parallel is just fairly weak comparison. Compared to st*ncy and m*leven. Because, since s1 they have paralleled those 2 ships and even heavily emphasized and paralleled it to ted/Karen's miserable marriage. Meanwhile j*ncy since at least s3 -4 is paralleled to joyce/lonnie.

Day 6 - Car Ride
Steve tapped his hand against the steering wheel in tune with the music. The ‘kids’ were arguing about something, but he was doing his best to ignore it.
“Hey! Steve” Max kicked the back of his seat “We have a question.”
He sighed, so much for not getting involved “Okay, but you need to stop kicking my seat or you won’t be able to sit there anymore.”
“Boo!” Max complained but didn’t kick his seat again.
“Anyway” Erica spoke up “we want to know if you’re dating Robin.”
“You want to know if he’s dating Robin, we want to know something else entirely” Mike corrected.
“Yeah, whatever.”
Steve interrupted before it could turn into an argument “No, I’m not dating Robin and I never will.”
“So, you do still like Nancy?” Lucas asked.
“No! What? Why do you think those are the only options?” Steve didn’t even try to keep the confusion out of his voice.
“Well, you don’t really flirt with the women that come into the video store anymore, so we figured there had to be a reason” Dustin explained.
Steve sighed “Okay, how about this? You guys, as a group, get to ask me ten questions that aren’t just why I’m not seeing anyone or if or who I am, and I’ll answer truthfully but that’s it, that’s all the information you get to try and figure it out.”
He probably shouldn't have been surprised they agreed.
“Do you want to date Robin?” Dustin asked.
“Nope”
“Do you like her?” Max leaned forward so she was talking right in his ear.
“Not like that”
“Did you?”
“For a bit”
“Why did you and Nancy break up?” Erica cut in.
“She didn’t want to date me anymore”
It was a drastic oversimplification, but whatever. Still the truth.
“Do you even want to date someone?” Lucas questioned.
Deep breath.
“Yes”
“What kind of girl do you like?” Max was still way too close for it to be safe.
“I don’t know, I’ve never really thought about it”
“So you just date whoever?” Erica says it more like a statement than a question, but he really wants to get this over with, so he answers anyway.
“No. Maybe... I don’t know. I date people I like, but I don’t what makes me like someone”
“Is it always the girls who break up with you, like have you ever been the one to make the decision?” Mike is definitely just asking to be annoying.
“I’m counting that as a question”
Someone hits Mike, and he should probably (definitely) scold them.
He doesn’t.
“It is usually not my decision, but it has been”
“Why don’t you break up with people?” Mike presses.
“I don’t know, they usually get to it first. Also, when did this turn into you psychoanalyzing me?”
“It always was” Max says ominously.
He sighed.
“You still have one question”
“...Have you ever um... liked a guy?” Will asks so quietly Steve almost doesn’t hear him.
But he does.
He turns into the Wheelers’ driveway.
The kids hesitate for a moment before getting out of the car.
He waits until the very last moment before answering, careful that they can still hear him.
“Yes”

I don't know what you're hunting. It's not me, it's something else - 2/10
Chapter 1 <-- previous chapter Chapter 2: Give me back my heart you wingless thing
Tumblr media
Robin felt out of her mind as she sat in the passenger seat of Nancy's Station Wagon. Steve had been acting off since the Upside Down and wouldn't let her in to see what was really going on. She had theories but nothing solid. Because they'd never truly lost before.
Steve was always a good sport about things. Always moves on and pushes through whatever is thrown his way. But he also believes that everyone else is better than him. That he deserves the worst of it. He pushes through it because he thinks he deserves it. It made it easy for her to assume that Steve was thinking that it should've been him. That he should've died instead of Eddie. Or been cursed by Vecna.
And wasn't that the worst thought? She didn't want to imagine her soulmate wishing for his own end but she knew him well enough to know that's probably what he was doing. That he wasn't allowing people to take care of him because how else would he get his wish? It made her angry. It made her scared. It made her feel at a loss for what to do.
But she couldn't voice her mind. Not to the Party. Not to Dustin who was barely holding on after Eddie died in his arms. Not to Lucas or Erica because they were at Max's side in the hospital. Not to Hopper or Joyce who were busy with their own kids and the Upside Down. And definitely not to Nancy.
Robin liked Nancy. She thought the girl was badass and was happy to be at her side. But she was the same girl that broke Steve's heart. The girl who threw Steve's biggest insecurity in his face in a drunken rage. So, Robin wouldn't speak of her worries. Not because she thought Nancy was a bad person. But because as Steve's best friend, she would protect him from those who hurt him. And one thing she'd never do is give Nancy Wheeler any ammo against Steve.
“I think we should just go pick him up,” Nancy breaks the silence. It makes Robin jump a little and she looks at her. Mike and Dustin staying quiet in the backseat.
“He wouldn't join us,” Robin says and it hurts to say. It feels like she's telling them that he doesn't care about himself. And in a way, her.
Nancy's hands are tapping on the wheel. “I know, he's stubborn and doesn't like letting people in. But he'll die if he keeps it up.” She states like it's easy to say. “He didn't even let us take him to the hospital.” Nancy's voice is annoyed and Robin can relate but she also hates the idea of backing Steve into a corner.
Robin shook as Nancy took the turn towards Steve's house. She wanted to argue. She wanted to scream. But mostly, she just wanted to make sure Steve was okay. She just held her legs to her chest tightly the entire way. Trying not to notice the claw marks on a tree by the road.
However, before they even reached Steve's house, her worry for him grew until it had her fumbling for the door handle. Before the car was even fully stopped she was stumbling onto the road, running towards the Maroon Bimmer on the side of the road. It was slammed into a tree, and windows shattered. The door was torn off and with claw marks on the side. Nancy put the car in park, "Robin!" She shouted and Robin ignored the worry, too focused on finding her best friend.
“Steve!” Robin calls out but she doesn't get a response. Her eyes scanned the area for her dingus. Her food slid against the road, an unnatural feeling that had her falling backward. She would've hit the ground if Nancy hadn't been there to catch her. Her arms were tight around Robin, holding her steady.
They both looked to the ground. Robin's red sneaker blackened with something Robin remembered vividly. Her hands wrapped around Eddie's arm, the blood and saliva of the bats making her hands slip and almost drop him. Steve as if knowing she'd drop Eddie, took more of the man's weight. He and Nancy moved the dead metal head to lie in the Upside Down's version of his room. As a final resting place. As a coffin.
The black substance had been impossible to wash away and clung to her. A long-lasting reminder of Eddie's dead body. Nancy slowly lets go of Robin and bends down. As Robin pulled her foot away from the puddle, a string followed and Nancy made a low hum. “Nancy,” her voice sounds choked to her own ears. Nancy looks up at her, the worry on her face only partially hidden by the increasingly familiar investigative Nancy Wheeler look.
But Nancy just shakes her head, her hand gestures forward and Robin looks around, trying to spot Steve or something to lead her to him. “Footprints,” Nancy finally says and Robin's eyes snap to the ground. Steve had stepped into the goo. It only shows a few steps but... they looked frantic. Like someone slipping a little as they took off running.
Before they can do anything they hear a terrifying noise. A mix of a human cry and a monstrous screech. “Car now,” Nancy orders but Robin's frozen. Waiting for something in the trees to burst out at any second. Nancy doesn't let her, pulling her backward. Robin bumps into Mike and Dustin, the two looking frightened and on edge.
Robin is practically shoved into the passenger seat and she's just frozen. Her brain working hard yet not a single thought pierces through the mess. Nancy peels away from Steve's car. Her eyes are bouncing around the road as she picks up speed. A blood-curdling roar came from the forest. So loud and jarring that Robin couldn't help but curl in on herself.
As she watches the treeline she can see something rushing through the underbrush but it is too dark to make out what it was. That didn't stop Robin's brain from making up something. A mix of the stories Steve told her and the monsters she saw firsthand. All she knew for sure was that whatever it was, it was no doubt what attacked Steve.
Robin can't even begin to understand what's going on as Nancy drives them away from it. It feels real and fake as the Bimmer disappears from view and Nancy steps on the gas even harder. The others are talking, trying to figure out what was going on but Robin can't look away from the review mirror. “Steve,” her voice breaks and she looks at Nancy. She's surprised to see tears falling down the girl's cheeks. “We- what about- about Steve?” Her voice breaks and Nancy just shakes her head.
“We can't leave him behind!” Dustin shouts and Robin can tell it's not the first time he said it from the way Nancy barely reacts to it. Robin's gaze goes back to the review mirror but there isn't any signs of monsters chasing them.
“That sounded like a Demogorgon,” Mike stated and Robin's eyes widened. Steve had told her about that monster. How it never seemed to be hurt by what they did. She had held Steve tightly. She had silently thanked everything she could think of that Steve had lived to meet her. She had also silently been grateful that she never had to deal with one of those herself. But now...
“Oh god,” she feels like she's going to puke. The image of Steve's car spinning and smashing against the trees. Before he could even gain his barrings the door was pulled off. Screaming as he was pulled from the car. Claws tore him apart, blood and tears being shed until Steve didn't even look like Steve anymore. Too quick to even try and grab his bat from the back seat. Too fast to radio for help. Too late for Robin to protect him from it.
Nancy reached over and took one of Robin's hands, making her startle. “We have to radio the others. Tell them what we saw. But if we go back we're dead. I've only got my pistol and that hadn't stopped it the first time.” She said and Robin couldn't get out a single argument as she struggled to catch her breath.
She blocked out the way Dustin argued. She blocked out Mike's frantic words. She blocked it all out. Robin was shaking so badly she felt like she might fall out of her seat as she sat there in shock. “Robin,” Nancy snapped and from the tone, it wasn't the first time Nancy had said it. “The radio's by your feet.” She states but all Robin can focus on is the sound of the monster.
The way it echoed, growing further away but it already got a swipe at her heart. Her insides twisted with guilt. “Steve would've stopped,” her voice doesn't even sound like hers anymore. “Steve would've helped.”
As she finally looks over at Nancy she can see how much those words hurt Nancy. “The radio Robin,” Nancy says again and Robin barely manages to grab hold of it. Her hands feel almost numb.
She looks back in the mirror, there was nothing but the two boys who were truly too young for this. Not Steve. Not the monster. Nancy takes the radio from her. The hand that had been holding hers was gone. But she'd rather stare at the road behind them than close her eyes for a moment. Not when her brain was far too creative.
Robin locked eyes with Dustin. The kid looked so sick, his eyes wide and filled with tears. He was back to being silent. Only Nancy spoke. Her words clipped as she told the others what just happened. Robin wouldn't pay attention to the conversation. Not when it wouldn't let her turn back around and find her best friend. In whatever state that was.
Fret not dear heart, let not them hear the mutterings of all your fears. (The Horror and The Wild - The Amazing Devil)

The Duffer brothers brought me here: My experience with byler. (A rant to get things out of my mind)
With Vol 2 being so close and me without nothing better to do I want to share my experience on how I became a byler shipper and so confident about them.
First of all, let me tell you before this season I never watched any theories or anything like that. I just watched the show and kept going with my life (despite of me loving analyzing things with stranger things I never felt the urge to do so idk why). I wasn’t thinking of any ships because tbh 90% of the couples seem to me very cliche, predictable and boring. I despise all these couples so much that in season 3 when everybody was like “oh what a fun and cool season”, my family knows that I was venting about how it was the worst season. For me it felt so superficial. Nothing to do with the two priors seasons. I was ready to stop watching this show. I was that annoyed!!
So imagine the shock I felt this season as a general viewer when I saw the awkward hug between Will and Mike at the airport when all I knew they amended things past season. My first thought was “why is Mike being a jerk to Will?” . It makes absolutely no sense with Mike’s character.
Then the first thing Mike asks Will is about the painting. He not even asked him how he was or anything like that. He asked Jonatan but he didn’t care about his best friend???!!!
Bare with me my mind was going crazy. Nothing makes sense. Not with the Mike I know. Even on season 3 when he was a jerk to Will, he did it on the heat of the moment and regretted immediately but this season?!! This season he was blatantly ignored him and treated him badly.
Are the Duffers that bad writers? I asked myself. Is this show going down hill? Nothing made sense.
But then the “we are friends” x 2 happened. It opened my mind to a possibility that I never ever considered. Was Mike having feelings for Will? Because let me tell you I’m straight so I never ever ever in a million times not matter how BAD I fight with my best friend, I never had the need to remember her the status of our relationship. I never have to remember her that we are friends. Why will we feel the need to clear that up? We are friends what else can we be? Why we any of us forget that unless one of us was at one point or another considering us in another kind of relationship ?
Something definitely clicked. Then the awkwardness continued until the “i thought that I lost you” with Mike visible nervous, Will with tears in his eyes. I was like okayyyy. Plausible. Perhaps I was misrepresented things.
But then THEN Mike came back to his awkwardness. That fucking triple looks that he gave Will. Why is he awkward again if you already cleared things on. There’s was no denying that something was happening. SOMETHING WAS HAPPENING.
However my biggest proof without no doubt was how Mike nodded when Will told him about being scared of telling people the truth. If Mike’s truth is that he loves El, why is he scared? Specially when she already told him that she is waiting for him to say it?
There’s no logic explanation for that nodding that Mike did. Except of course you admit that his truth isn’t something that El wants to hear. Plus his awkwardness with Will, the math clicked on my mind. Mike Wheeler can’t be straight.
So i was convinced. I was opened to the idea but still didn’t fully believe because to do such move on the narrative. A main character who was just a character and not “the gay or queer character”. That’s something never seen before. Can the Duffers be that brave? That’s just a power move. That will made people crazy for good or bad.
That’s when I started reading theories and the more I read, the more things made sense not just from this season but for all the previous seasons.
There’s no way Byler won’t be canon. My experience tell me so because I would have never ever questioned Mike’s sexuality if the Duffers didn’t make all those scenes this season. They made act so out of character that it’s impossible to ignore his actions. They made the awkwardness, they made the airport scene, they made heart to heart talks, they were the ones with the tender emotional music. I didn’t say oh look how cute Mike and Will look. No. It was the writers choices that made me start questioning everything. They brought me here. Not only me but many many many people like me.
So keep that in mind.

do you have any enby mike wheeler headcanons? asking for a friend
your friend is very nice! please tell him he's one of my favorite mutuals if you see him! <3
and i have SO MANY enby mike headcanons omg- btw they're still in the 80s here.
obviously the first one is that he HATES the name "michael". he hates hearing it and writing it and always asks for people to call him just mike. he doesn't have any issues with the party, but it's hard being at home because karen always uses his deadname.
he comes out to, surprisingly, max first. because she's also enby (she isn't actually like openly enby, she just is) and won't stop complaining about her name and clothes and the way she hates people seeing her as a girl. mike would probably hear that and say "but you... are a girl..." and then max would respond with "i can be whatever the fuck i want. no one should tell us how to feel about ourselves". and there's a long, long silence until mike says "i think i'm not a boy, either". and max understands.
he borrows clothes from nancy. not too feminine stuff yet, because he doesn't want to stand out much, but he likes stuff like her shirts and pants and coats. she doesn't find out until one day where she catches him trying on one of her dresses. and mike is scared and tries to lie about it, but ends up confessing that he doesn't know who he truly is. nancy helps him with his makeover and supports him <3
mike actually ends up not liking too much feminine stuff. it makes him feel like a girl, and he isn't a girl. but he also doesn't want people to think he's a boy, because he isn't one either. so he mixes shirts and clothes to be more androgynous. but none of that helps because, what he truly wants is for people to see him as just... mike. and not a boy.
he doesn't care about clothes much, but having long hair helps him. he doesn't look like a girl but he doesn't look like a boy either. it's perfect.
he ends up coming out one day to the party in one of their sleepovers. they are playing dnd (max and el included) and he, besides being the dm, is also playing as the paladin (which is truly hard bc he's doing two things at once and dms don't really do that but idk make it a npc or something it's just a hc). and he tells the party that mike the paladin is, indeed, not a boy. or a girl. and he looks at his friends, begging for them to understand what he means. they're all in silence at first, but then dustin keeps playing as if nothing happened and the others follow. will smiles at him from the other side of the table.
when he starts dating will, mike is scared of will leaving him for being like this. which is a dumb thought, and he knows that. but he can't help but to stop wearing nancy's stuff or talking about his struggles because he just... wants to ignore it in case will won't like him anymore. when will asks, mike tells him the truth and will comforts him and tells him that, no matter what, he will always love him. he's his partner, and will loves that about him.
on dysphoric days he pretends to be sick to not go to school, and always calls will because he doesn't want him to worry. will always goes to his house after class to spend time with him and tries to distract him.
dustin always corrects everyone (even parents) who refers to the party as "guys" with "party". he says it's because he wants to include both max and el, but mike knows he does that for him.
when they play videogames and lucas is the one choosing, he always chooses a game that doesn't make you choose gendered characters. he knows mike has a hard time with that.
will holds his hand in class without other people noticing (i still can't get over the fact that they seat next to each other- robin move on it's been years since s2-) every time mr.clarke says his name.
max and him bond over that! they start hanging out to complain about their struggles being enby and they end up actually not hating each other! they enjoy their time together, tbh. and mike always says "max" is way cooler than "maxine".
dustin comes up with the idea of using they/them for max and mike, and they love it! mike ends up using all pronouns (mostly they/them, tho) and max asks for the party to use he/they!
i love the idea of karen actually noticing mike hates being called michael, so she starts calling him just mike. she also notices the way he now dresses (he only gets to do it at home or hanging out with the party- although it isn't very feminine either but- y'know- he doesn't want to get bullied in school) and says nothing about it. she just smiles, and mike feels so so loved.
will always avoids gendered pet-names and names for mike!
i could keep going but this is long enough i think!!! thanks for the ask <3 yours are always the best ones!

Several hours later.
The party had returned to the cabin, Hopper and Joyce had joined in behind them as they drove up the driveway. Everyone piled out of the cars, a somber look on their faces. The rain had dampened their moods down a little bit. They were unsuccessful in finding a gate. Erica was standing outside the door, waiting for them with a look of panic across her face. Lucas was the first one to notice. “Erica, what’s wrong? What happened?” He called to his sister, jogging towards her in concern.
“I didn’t know she’d left…. Y/N woke up and I… I thought she’d gone back to El’s room but when I went to check on her, she…she was gone.” The rest of the group was close behind Lucas. The rain had turned the ground into a sloppy mess with no traces of footprints anywhere.
“You guys left a traumatized person alone. With Sinclair’s little sister. As her guard?” Jim asked them, shock and awe laced his voice, which rose in tones until it was at a screaming level. Joyce placed a hand on his bicep, silently warning him to calm down. Shame flashed across the entire groups’ faces, Eddie’s most of all. He should have known better than to leave you alone after everything he’d gone through earlier in the year.
Everyone made their way inside to sit down around the coffee table. Mike was the first one to say anything. “El, can you look for her, the way you looked for Billy?” She nodded and they began setting up. It only took maybe seven minutes of searching. “All I see are trees directly around Y/N. She’s scared but that’s all I can see.”
“She could be anywhere!” Nancy said, her fingers gripping at Robin’s wrist, who did her best to calm the older Wheeler sibling. Her soothing fingers rubbed between Nancy’s shoulders. Behind them, the front door snapped shut which caused everyone to jump a foot in the air.
Eddie had taken off running. He wasn’t going to let anything happen to somebody else that he cared about. Dustin called after him, but it went ignored.

He tripped over his own feet, over roots that dared to stick out of the ground. His white Reeboks slid across the ground and over mossy rocks. “Y/N! Please! Where are you?!” Eddie sprinted through the trees, rain pelting him through the leaves. Thirty minutes later, lungs burning as he turned sharply to run in another direction. His feet gave way, and he slid down an embankment. Pain shot through his tail bone, but he wasn’t giving up until he found you.
“Fuck! Ow.” Calling out your name again, he hobbled a few more feet before stopping for a small break. There was a stitch in his left side. He couldn’t help but curse himself for skipping out on gym class so much. He was going to need a short break to work the knots out. He began walking again a few moments later, checking behind logs as he screamed out for you. If you had come this way, you were probably hurt, scared, and worried. There was no way with the rain that you would have been able to climb back up that wall of sludge.
The sun was setting. Soon it would be dark, and Eddie didn’t know if there were predators in the Hawkins woods. He hoped to God that there weren’t any. So much time had passed by now, that there was no way of knowing how long. And for how long you’d been out here. It had begun raining harder, making the ground even slicker with piles of mud and pools of water everywhere. Still, he continued to call your name, desperate to find you.

You’d run for hours yourself, calling out for everyone but you had no idea where they were. Or how far you were away from them or the cabin. Every sound in the forest set you off, small screams left your lips every so often. You even frightened a deer by accident.
Eventually you tucked yourself in a ditch under a log as best as you could, trembling slightly. The ground was far from dry, your arms and legs were caked in mud. Blood seeped from a wound on your arm where you had fallen and gotten caught on a sharp rock. The forest taking its pound of flesh for your trouble. You were so physically exhausted, your plush body was tired from hours of wandering in circles and from pain, despite it being used to being active in your everyday life.
There were noises all around you, owls, crickets, toads, and even the wind along with the rain as it hit hard against every surface around you. In the distance, a voice was being carried towards you in the wind. Your heart rate picked up. Was this..that Vecna coming to get you? A broken sob escaped your throat. Body shivering, both with cold and fear, you managed to pull yourself as far back as you could go.
“Y/N?!” It was Eddie. Or at least, it sounded like him. How could you be sure? Nothing you knew was real now. Things that should be legends and fairy tales had turned out to be quite real. Footsteps began approaching, they were rushed, darting in every direction. Not until he jogged past your hidden location did you know for sure.
Wordlessly, your mouth opened. You wanted to call out. Using your good hand to push yourself forward, it came out softly, almost like a whisper. “Eddie!”
Eddie almost missed it, had he been a few feet further, it would have fallen on deaf ears. Turning his head to the right, he caught sight of you, dirty, crouched, and frightened. “...Y/n.” His feet bolted towards you, dropping to his knees when you were mere inches away.

His arms embraced you, whispering into your ear about how worried he was and how he was scared something bad had happened to you. Shaking, your own arms weaved their way around Eddie’s broad shoulders. You whispered your own fears back to him, tears bubbling over as your face buried into his neck. Inhaling deeply, the scent of Eddie engulfed you. Safety, that’s what he smelled like.
“Baby, you can’t go running off into the woods like that… what… what if something had happened to you?” Eddie’s voice was thick with emotions, his mahogany eyes staring down into your own. Apologies flowed from your mouth. You hadn’t meant to go so far away but you had gotten turned around and everything looked the same.
His lips pressed into the nape of your neck, and then your cheeks before landing on your own lips. It wasn’t the soft kiss of the night prior. This one was more wanting, hurried, fueled by fear and relief. Eddie pulled you close, one of his calloused hands gripping the back of your neck.
It happened quickly, first his denim vest and jacket were removed, then your shirt. The kiss broke only for a moment. Eddie unclasped your bra, and your cold fingers struggled briefly with pulling his shirt off him, a soft whine escaped his lips when the fabric came in between you. When the offending garment had been shorn, your arms wrapped around his neck. Eddie urged you to lift your hips and placed the jackets beneath you.
Torsos pressed against one another, his hands moved one back to holding your head and neck, the other came around to your nest and hovered over your breast. “This okay?” He asked you, you nodded. “Words please?”
“Yes.” With the singular word, he was satisfied and palmed the flesh, pulling gently at your nipple, tweaking it until it hardened. Your hips rolled up towards his, while Eddie’s pressed against the crotch of your pants. You could feel his cock tenting his pants, breath puffed between your mouths begging for more of each other. His head dipped down to capture the tender skin of your breast and nipple, grazing it with his teeth, his tongue flicking over and over until the pink stood tall.
The friction of your clothes wasn’t enough, you slid your hands down to his jeans that had become deeply sodden from the mud. Your fingers cold and hands shaking, they fumbled with his belt and then with the button-fly. Eddie could feel your frustration growing with struggling to get them down and assisted you in shimmying the denim down, his boxers caught in the mix and joined them around his knees.
A soft chuckle came from the back of his throat. “S’not fair that I’m missing more clothes than you are…” Laying you back, he pulled on the Lycra pants you had on. With how soaked you were from the rain; you hadn’t noticed how wet your panties had become until his fingers hooked under the waist band and removed them as well.
With how preoccupied you’d been, you hadn’t noticed his cock standing at attention, laying against his stomach. Heat pooled in your stomach. While you were staring, his fingers began methodically rubbing circles around your clit, his middle finger dipping into your pussy. “You good, Y/N?” He asked, slowly pumping his finger in and out as he readied you for the much larger appendage that awaited you. A choked reply of affirmation graces his ears.
Eddie could’ve came from just watching the pleasure etched across your face but he was desperate to be inside you. His fingers drenched in your slick juices; his eyes glazed over with desire for you. “P-please…Eddie…I need you now.” You pleaded with him; your pupils blown from how turned on you were.
He didn’t need to be asked twice as Eddie sunk into your cunt. “Shit, Y/N, you feel so good around my cock...” He whispered into your ear, having had brought his head up by yours. Moving slowly at first as he allowed your body to adjust to his girth, he began to move faster. He tilted his hips in just the right angle to hit the bundle of nerves that was your g-spot.
As he thrust into you, your legs wrapped around his while your mouth recaptured his lips. The world around you dissolving as you got closer and closer to coming. Moaning into his mouth, Eddie pulled away for a brief second. “Come for me, sweetheart, that’s it… it’s okay. Let go.”
His mouth latched onto your neck as you came undone, coating his cock as you came. You’d tightened around him and the feeling of your walls choking his dick had become too much. He didn’t even have time to consciously pull out. Eddie’s hips began stuttering as the thick hot ropes of cum spilled inside your cunt. Both of your moans mixed in the quiet forest. Sweat mixed with the rain coated your skins, hearts beating erratically.
Dropping your head to his shoulder, your eyes closed as you allowed your breath to even out. Eddie did the same, nuzzling into your clavicle, his fingers playing softly with your stomach in a comforting way. Sliding out with a soft pop as his cock softened. “I’m sorry… I didn’t have time to…” He started but you shook your head and smiled up at Eddie. It was fine and you’d take care of it later.
“Think they’re looking for us?” You asked after a couple of minutes, eliciting a soft laugh from Eddie. “More than likely. They probably sent Hopper out to find us…”
You sighed deeply. “Hand me my clothes. We may as well get dressed.” Eddie groaned but passed it over, everything was muddy as all hell. Your bra had thankfully only gotten wet since it had been tossed onto the log. The two of you got dressed in silence, both looking ridiculous, covered in mud and leaves in your hair. He passed you his denim vest, without the sleeves it at least provided a bit of warmth to your back. He slid the leather jacket on himself.
Taking his outstretched hand, he led you back towards the way he’d come looking for you.

It didn’t take too much longer for the both of you to find a light slope to climb, his fingers laced with yours as he guided you up the hill. The moment you crested the hill, bright lights could be seen nearby. They looked like a couple of flashlights. A light flush lit your face, you knew you both looked a mess, and it was obvious that you’d done more than simply fall in the mud.
Voices called out you, Steve and Hopper. “Oh boy…here we go.” Eddie muttered, puling you closer to him as you trekked closer to them. “We’re here!” He called out to them. The light beams bouncing as they ran towards you.
“What the hell, Y/N, why’d you—” Steve started to ask you a question and faltered when he saw the state the two of you were in. His eyebrows lifted, his eyes looking between each of you. “Shut it, Harrington, just help us find the way back. It’s fucking cold.” Hopper looked at Eddie sharply. “Sorry sir, caught in the moment.” They led you back to the truck which was about two miles away.
Both of you were wrapped in blankets from the storage box in the bed of the car, the ride silent. Hopper was mad that a: you both took off without thinking and b: that you’d dirtied his car seats that he had just cleaned. Steve was throwing glances at Eddie, trying to silently communicate to him about what had happened out in the woods. Eddie only shook his head, not wanting to talk about it. Even though it was painted on your faces, it was still between the two of you.
The truck bumped over the road; your head laid on Eddie’s shoulder. You were physically and mentally exhausted. He let you drift off to sleep, he would wake you up when Hopper got you all back to headquarters.
