A lot of people compared Ollie to Zombieland Saga when her design was revealed but to me she gives off Monster High gen 1 vibes more.

I like g3 Frankie more than g1 Frankie but genuinely what is WRONG with g1 Frankie haters. Like are we really gonna slutshame a teenage character from a piece of media for children because she's had multiple crushes?? Don't people realize that it's completely possible to have a lot of crushes?

Welcome to drawing (almost) every MHG1 ghoul in her basic outfit part uuuuuhhhhhhhHhHHHHH. Somehow by complete coincidence, all 3 of the randomly selected characters for this batch ended up being sea monsters! So say hello to: Lorna McNessie, Kala Mer'ri, and Lagoona Blue!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And some close ups bc ily
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sorry about the minor wait between the last one and this one, you can see just by the dates that these took me a while to finish bc uhhh I've had very little energy but hopefully I can get back to drawing more! My next post is gonna be another redraw of a past post ehehe. Anyways, hope y'all like the art, cause I had a fangtastic time drawing it, and see you guys next post!

if there’s one thing I miss about MHG1 is that characters were allowed to have motifs outside of things relating to their monster type
Ghoulia’s music-related accessories ad cherries, Draculaura often wore polka dots, Clawdeen wearing a lot of decorative zippers, ect
I feel like the design team this time is limiting themselves by insisting on every single outfit piece needing to reference their monster type

yOU know what's funny is that for as much as I love the MHg3 dolls,
G1 (and G2) kinda scare me lmfao.
G3 Draculara doll?? friend shaped!!! a doll that if it were to become haunted and or come to life I would NOT assume it would murder me.
G1???
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
her fit is cUTE still but something about the MHG1 body proportions just unnerve me sO much... the limbs are too skinny??? and??? idk, the eyes on a lot of them are so dead?? which. I mean it's a dOLL so ofc, but like?? yOU KNOW???
Would love to see g3 versions of all the g1/g2 looks tho bc a lot of them are very cute, it's just. the doll bodies themselves that Give me the creeps and set off my weird doll phobia lmfao.

My Monster High Generation One OCs
Name:
Ash Pyroson.
Gender:
Non-binary.
Appearance:
Ash is athletic, toned, tall and long-limbed, in a word aerodynamic. Their skin is olive brown and quite tanned as well. They have a small face with narrow avian features, a pointy chin, beaklike nose, and large, round gold eyes. Their fingers have gold curved claws for fingernails. Their ‘hair’ is actually feathers and rust red in a windswept pixie cut. They have broad, feathered black wings that they can make burst into flame at will. Their motifs are flames and feathers, and occasionally embers or black crystalline accents for a darker or more contrast-heavy look.
Age:
One hundred. Phoenixes live for up to five centuries and a fifth of eighty (taking that to be a human lifespan) is sixteen, hence that’s their mental and biological age.
Sexuality:
Bisexual.
Monster Parent:
I’m a phoenix, born from the cinders of my previous incarnation. I guess they’re my parent? But in terms of the people who raise you, I... don’t have anyone. Not for long, at least.
Killer Style:
Mediterranean summer chic in warm shades - scarlet, yellow, amber, maroon, etc. - with a slash of charcoal black to ground them. I generate a lot of heat, so my clothes are light and airy. I like to mix and match clothes meant for ghouls and mansters in bold, eye-catching combinations.
Freaky Flaw:
Some might call me a little cocky and “obnoxious”. But can you blame me? I'm on fire! Having a blast! A real trailblazer! Okay, I'll stop. Monsters seem to get annoyed so easily.
Favourite Colour:
Red, duh!
Favourite Food:
Chargrilled meat like souvlaki. Then again, most of my food tends to become chargrilled anyway.
Biggest Pet Peeve:
Wet and cold weather really rains on my parade, since I love my wings’ flame form. My body doesn’t handle low temperatures well.
Favourite Activity:
Soaring through the skies.
Pet:
Icarus, my pet cockatiel. Don't worry li’l guy, the only wings burning around here are mine.
Friends:
I get along with my birds of a feather Heath Burns, Finnegan Wake and Robecca Steam like wildfire.
Favourite School Subject:
Physical Deaducation. Nothing beats the thrill and it's a great outlet for my natural energy. I have a pass to get out of swimming lessons.
Least Favourite School Subject:
Clawculus. I already hate being cooped up in a classroom all day; an hour of solid boring doesn’t help.
Backstory:
Ash hatched in the Egyptian Sahorror Desert. The only thing they knew of themselves was their last name, which came to them like a memory upon becoming conscious. They chose their own first name. Phoenixes develop at an accelerated rate in infancy that slows throughout their childhoods. Ash wandered around the desert fending for themselves for a few years, a harsh formative period that developed their wits, reflexes, proactiveness, and self-reliant spirit. The outgoing phoenix child resented their isolation and loved exploring. They were taken in by a traditional nomadic clan of griffins who are to this day the adoptive family they remember the most fondly, and who taught them how to fly.
Once they mastered flight and overcame their fear of the sea, Ash spent the next seventy-seven years travelling the Mediterranean Basin in search of fulfilment and adventure, drifting between guardians or sleeping rough, picking up enough social skills to alongside their innate charisma win them plenty of friends, but just not enough to grasp tact and sensitivity. They never settled at any schools because they had a proclivity for troublemaking and the teachers and students weren’t nearly as sympathetic to them as Monster High’s. This patchwork past means they are fluent in several of the Basin’s languages and have a strange blend of accents. And that it hasn’t sunk in that their actions have consequences.
They have lived in a children’s home in Scaremerica for three years. So far they’re doing well at Monster High. Their orphan status is a source of great touchiness and shame for them and they avoid discussing it. Secretly they’re jealous of stable, happy families. Will Ash finally find a permanent home? Perhaps even a real family?
Miscellaneous:
Like all phoenixes, their injured tissue forms ashy scabs and can be regenerated instantly in a flare of fire, with limits (a deep cut or missing finger is fine, a lost arm is not).
They’re single and not currently interested in anyone. Though they’re open to casual relationships, they would have commitment and intimacy issues in a serious one.
They want to befriend Lagoona Blue, but are dismayed that she’s so frequently around water.
They’re very dramatic and attention-seeking, and a star of the school’s Drama Club. They got interested in acting to have an outlet for the aforementioned traits after realizing that that attitude was unhelpful in team sports. They’ll play character of any gender, provided it's a lead or prominent supporting role.
***
Name:
Bonnie Moor.
Gender:
Female.
Appearance:
Bonnie is short and curvaceous with big breasts, full hips, and plump thighs. She’s unfit but naturally muscular. Her body is covered in black, silky fur, fading to dark chocolate brown with black rosettes on her lower limbs and in the lower half of her head hair while the upper half is black. Her kinky hair is pulled into a shaggy ponytail tied with a green band. She has alert pale green eyes. She has several feline features to match her black panther inspiration, namely a leopard’s tail, ears, nose and small claws and fangs. Her outfits have no motifs to demonstrate her nonexistent fashion sense and not being bothered to theme them, and she’s offended by leopard print.
Age:
Fifteen.
Sexuality:
Homosexual.
Monster Parent:
The Beast of Bodmin Moor.
Killer Style:
Anything that comes to claw, the bigger and baggier the better to disparage catcalling. Maybe it’s because I’m used to being alone, but I rarely consider what others think. I like earthy colours, I guess?
Freaky Flaw:
It’s been just me and Dad for as long as I can remember. I don’t have much experience making friends... or talking to them... or listening to them. Yeah, I’m pretty asocial and my forthright speech has been been known to insult people.
Favourite Colour:
Fern green.
Favourite Food:
You wouldn’t guess it, but I have quite a sweet fang, especially in regards to toffee and caramel.
Biggest Pet Peeve:
Judging people based on appearances. Despite his fearsome looks, my father is the most thoughtful monster you’ll ever meet. The normies who live nearby are too afraid to give him a chance. And I’ve met mansters who think I’m just a pretty face, or body rather, which really makes me snarl!
Favourite Activity:
Sitting outside and taking in the sights and sounds of nature is so calming. Have you seen the way the mist rolls off the moor as the sun rises? That’s true beauty.
Pet:
My ghostly black dog Baskerville. He’s a loyal companion and often the only one I feel like pouring my heart out to.
Friends:
Um... does Baskerville count?
Favourite School Subject:
Literature. I’m a gargantuan bookworm and learning the techniques that make scaretastic books lets me enjoy them even more.
Least Favourite School Subject:
Music. I have no sense of rhythm and my singing is more caterwauling.
Backstory:
Bonnie grew up in Bodmin Moor with her father, the moor’s infamous leopard Beast. Her mother, a black werecat, left him and moved to the city when she was a baby. Most of the Boonited Kingdom, like everywhere else in the world, has a majority population of monsters, but the county of Cornwail is a pocket of human dominance with very few monsters. She was continually bullied and excluded at human schools. Therefore she doesn’t have much faith in the intrinsic benevolence of her peers, ironically making her prone to distrustful snap judgements while scorning others’ snap judgments.
She is very protective of her parents. The Beast of Bodmin Moor owns a sheep farm, for both meat and wool they sell or privately own. He is loving but was rather paws-off during her childhood and let her roam the heaths with minimal supervision when she didn’t have to help out on the farm. The Moors are quite poor so he couldn’t afford to send Bonnie to a monster school further away, but the family was always happy together. It’s why she never forgets to appreciate the simple things.
Her father had long caught on to the extent of her dissatisfaction at school and been trying to help her. He recently discovered Monster High online, and its free monster exchange program. Reluctantly deciding the new stories she could immerse herself in outweighed the dangers of leaving her comfort zone, she signed up for a year in the Boonited States.
Miscellaneous:
She is deeply involved in social activism, specifically for species and gender equality. At its most extreme, At its most extreme, her righteous anger spills out into misanthropic bitterness she can take out on the wrong people. She’s working on keeping that in check. She’s working on keeping that in check.
She has a very mature vocabulary and not-so-secretly enjoys showing it off and correcting people’s speech or writing, but gets flustered when someone corrects her.
Were any of her friendships to progress beyond their rocky, awkward starts, she could become Jane Boolittle, Avea Trotter, Venus McFlytrap, and Batsy Claro’s beastie.
She needs meat in her diet to function so can’t be vegetarian, but is a devout environmentalist and despises inhumane factory farming and unnecessary wealth/food/other resource hoarding and waste. Supporting local businesses is personal for her, after all.
***
Name:
Louis Carcolh.
Gender:
Male.
Appearance:
Louis’s build is wide, heavyset and flabby, due to not having much of a skeleton and being able to retreat completely into the snail shell on the middle of his back. He’s permanently hunched from the weight of it. The shell is muddy brown and striped with dusty rose pink. His feet are flat on the ground, but they’re flexible and have arches when raised. His skin is pastel pink with patches of scales. He has shoulder-length vivid green hair with purple streaks that match his eyes, gelled and elegantly combed. His facial features are rounded and soft. He has two pairs of retractable, prehensile purple tentacles, the longer ones sprouting from his forehead, the shorter ones on either side of his mouth; pointed ears; fangs; and a green forked tongue. His motifs are spirals, tentacles and slime trails.
Age:
Seventeen.
Sexuality:
Heterosexual.
Monster Parent:
The Carcolh (aka Lou Carcolh) the giant serpentine snail of France.
Killer Style:
I’ve heard that pink and purple are ‘too feminine’. But why should the ghouls hog such fabulous colours? I adore all things fashion, and due to my... unique physiology I design and manufacture my own outfits according to the latest trends. Every monster deserves to feel comfortable and beautiful no matter their shape or size.
Freaky Flaw:
This shell is extremely unwieldy. Just sitting in a seat with a back is a challenge. My house has many stools and chairs with holes sawed in them. It can also be hard not to let my nerves get the better of me, though therapy sessions are helping.
Favourite Colour:
Purple.
Favourite Food:
Artichoke hearts.
Biggest Pet Peeve:
Public transport. It’s horribly cramped and crowded and I feel like everyone stares at me. And again, seats.
Favourite Activity:
Creating clothes! After years of being ruled by my anxiety, I’m finally able to come out of my shell and express myself through my art.
Pet:
I never had the confidence to buy a pet and I’m currently busy with school and design projects.
Friends:
I have admired Clawdeen Wolf ever since I saw her fashion show in Scaris, and I am close friends with Garrott DuRoque and Emiko Earthen.
Favourite School Subject:
It’s a tie between Fierce Fashion 101 and Mad Science.
Least Favourite School Subject:
Anything involving solo speeches or presentations. I may dress like a model, but in the spotlight I can’t hear my words over my racing heartbeat.
Backstory:
Louis’s father the Carcolh was driven to reclusiveness by the death of his wife during his son’s birth, reduced to a shell of his former self. Throughout his childhood Louis followed in his... err... foot trail. The Carcolh line is a wealthy, aristocratic one descended from venerated dragons. The budding beau had a big, fancy mansion, grounds, and wardrobe. Surely he didn’t need friends on top? People were scary, with their staring eyes and labyrinth of unspoken rules and opinions.
He’d always had a knack for aesthetic coordination and passion for fashion. At first designing satisfied him, but over time he came to yearn for a deeper sense of belonging. When his news of his idol Moanatella Ghostier’s offer of apprenticeship reached him, he took a chance and sent her his designs. She rejected him. He was briefly crushed. That taste of declaring his worth to the world felt too good to give up however and shortly after he ventured out to see Moanatella’s fashion show. Clawdeen Wolf crashed it and a flood of inspiration hit him. The students of Monster High were so confident! And their clothes so spooktacular! Undergoing a total metamorphosis into a suave socialite, at least on the surface, Louis begged his father to let him go there and they’ve bought a lavish house near the school for the foreseeable future.
His sudden dynamism has reignited the Carcolh’s love of life. Now their bond is the strongest it’s ever been and Louis is determined to make sure no monster has to go through what he did. He’s eager to establish his name in the fashion industry, concerned that wanting to live his teen years to the fullest might get him dismissed as peaking in his adolescence.
Miscellaneous:
He gets incredibly flattered whenever someone praises his work, unaccustomed to it.
He sometimes talks to himself, a relic of being friendless in that big mansion. He talks to his sewing machine when experiencing a creative problem until the solution comes to him. Emiko thinks it cute, but he’s embarrassed by it.
Social media allows socialization without being seen or having to speak, so he loves it. He has a fashion blog. He posts about his mental health struggles too, shows solidarity to bloggers in similar positions and promotes disabled models and models with physical differences.
He has a refined palate and loves haute cuisine (every dish is a work of art!), but downplays in public it to avoid seeming snobby and shallow.
***
Name:
Emiko Earthen.
Gender:
Female.
Appearance:
Emiko is average height. She is already slim and has a heart-shaped face, but due to body dysmorphia she compulsively sculpts, smoothes and moulds her clay body to try to perfectly meet modern Western beauty standards, resulting in a delicate hourglass figure, sticklike limbs and perfectly symmetrical features. She keeps a kit of pottery tools handy to this end. Her literally terracotta skin is deep reddish brown. She’s an expert with makeup and emphasizes her eyes to draw attention away from her white surgical mask with a cute red-lipsticked smile on it. It hides a wide, jagged crack from the sides of her mouth to her ears, mimicking a Glasgow smile. She has a collection of different masks to match different outifts. The Hebrew word for ‘truth’ is carved into her forehead to bring her to life. Her thick, wavy, black hair is centre-parted in two long plaits with sky blue bows. Her eyes are dark brown and her eyebrows are shaved. Her outfit motifs are gold crack patterns based on the kintsugi pottery technique of repairing cracks with gold lacquer on clothing and smiles.
Age:
Sixteen.
Sexuality:
Heterosexual.
Monster Parent:
My mother is a kuchisake-onna, my father is a golem.
Killer Style:
Ladylike classic lolita. A-line dresses, ribbons, hats, stilettos, and intricate jewellery. My clothes are the one part of my image I can be sure looks defrightful.
Freaky Flaw:
Firstly, I’m more than a little obsessive over my appearance. It’s just... I want to know I’m beautiful. Secondly, I have a violent, vengeful side that shows itself when someone makes me feel ugly. I’m ashamed of how I lose control of my emotions and betray the values of my faith, and it can be hard to remember that G-d gave me an equal balance of good and bad inside.
Favourite Colour:
Baby blue. Cool, muted colours complement my skin and my hair and eyes make lighter colours pop.
Favourite Food:
Dad’s egg noodle kugel. If you haven’t eaten it, you haven’t unlived.
Biggest Pet Peeve:
Please, please don’t ask what’s under my mask. Do you think it might possibly be under there because it’s private?
Favourite Activity:
Volunteering at the local hospice. The only thing that feels better than looking good is doing good!
Pet:
Cheshire, my pet quokka. She wears a permanent creepy cute grin. And it’s actually to help her pant and reduce her temperature, not because she’s always happy.
Friends:
Skelita Calveras and Jinafire Long. Louis Carcohl and I have an on and off fashion partnership. He’s a scary sweet boy, but his views on freaky flaws confuse me. Why would you want people to see them?
Favourite Subject:
Monster Anatomy. I plan to be a cosmetologist, so knowledge of monsters’ bodies will be useful. To be honest, the anatomy of hybrid and artificial monsters is confusing - and interesting.
Least Favourite Subject:
Debate. Let’s say sticking to the point and not taking things personally and losing my temper aren’t my strengths.
Backstory:
Emiko’s father is a Reform Jewish golem. Her mother is a yokai who runs a traditional Japanese pottery business and converted to Reform Judaism. Unexpectedly, they fell in love, and more unexpectedly still their attempt to create a daughter that was truly theirs by infusing a piece of the former’s spirit into a sculpted golem body worked after trying unsuccessfully for years. The ritual gave her her life, hair, and ectoplasmic bodily fluids, but also the golem equivalent of a normal kuchisake-onna’s disfigurement. Her large extended family was happy to accept her and her upbringing was warm and supportive. She is closest to her mother and enjoys learning her pottery techniques. She’s always loved painting the clay products.
However, in her teens she developed damaging body dysmorphic disorder, in no small part thanks to her disfigurement. She is desperate to project an attractive image and suppresses her temper until it explodes destructively when someone offends her. Her mother regrets that her desire for Emiko to embrace her beauty has inadvertently passed on the appearance and anger issues she used to suffer from. She and her husband are trying to help her, but Emiko’s unable to communicate properly with them. Her declining mental health has seen a decrease in private prayer. They hope the community of Monster High, a beacon of understanding and acceptance, can provide her support they cannot.
Miscellaneous:
She’s fan of social media for the same reasons Louis is; they followed each other’s accounts before meeting in real unlife. She has a FrightTube channel doing makeup and hairstyle tutorials, carefully editing out her cracks.
She has a mild crush on Louis, but is sure he could never reciprocate it and wouldn’t mind remaining a friend.
She gets tailored school meals to keep kosher.
She’s a skilled potter. Is it a little weird, considering she’s essentially sculpting her flesh? Yes. Does she want to dwell on the implications of that, such as if she carved the magic word into a clay jug she could make a baby golem? No, no she does not.
***
Name:
Reynard “Rey” Furrost.
Gender:
Male.
Appearance:
In line with the economical proportions of Arctic foxes, Reynard is compact with short, muscular proportions; despite his small size, he projects a strong presence. His skin is pure snowy white. He has fangs and small fox ears. His dense, fluffy hair is glossy, silvery platinum blonde in winter and brown in summer, when it sheds to be thinner. He shaves the sides of it to keep his ears exposed. His eyes are amber. He wears black, grey, splashes of colour in bright icy blue, and silver studs, spikes and jewellery like his safety pin earrings. His motifs are fangs, icicles and pointed protrusions or markings that could represent either or both, and fox paw prints.
Age:
Fifteen.
Sexuality:
Bisexual.
Monster Parent:
Arctic werefoxes.
Killer Style:
Punk fashion. Leather jackets, safety pins, patches - it’s ferociously fangtastic! The DIY makes it extra satisfying to show off without needing fancy materials or training or tools.
Freaky Flaw:
I have this habit of running away from groups or situations, or just trying to act like I’m not part of them, when things get too much. Freezing monsters out. It can feel like it would be better for them if I wasn’t involved; they wouldn’t have to put up with me. But I have real friends now who accept me, and I never need to hide from them.
Favourite Colour:
Black.
Favourite Food:
Chicken wings, the spicier the better.
Biggest Pet Peeve:
When monsters assume I’m gonna lie or trick them just because I’m a werefox. I hate liars. Believe me, you’ll know if I don’t like you.
Favourite Activity:
Castketball. It’s helping me get along with others better, and I can work off my aggression while accomplishing something.
Pet:
Can’t afford one. I’d like a rabbit though. A cute, soft little white one, called Snowdrift...
Friends:
Clawd Wolf, Deuce Gorgon and Neighthan Rot are creepy cool. Clawd got me into casketball and he’s kinda like a big brother to everyone.
Favourite Subject:
Psychology. Yeah, it’s hard, but I don’t back away from a challenge. I wanna be a therapist when I’m older, to help kids like me feel good about themselves.
Least Favourite Subject:
Literature. Even now that I have help to read with my dyslexia, it’s slow and I can’t get into it easily. And the old-fashioned stuff is just confusing and boring.
Backstory:
Reynard lives in a poor neighbourhood on the outskirts of New Salem. Having undiagnosed dyslexia and attending underfunded, overcrowded schools before entering Monster High, he struggled in class and his teachers were too busy to be of much help. He believed he was just too stupid and lazy to do well. Compounding this, werefoxes are often stereotyped as cunning, manipulative, and deceitful. This both insulted him and meant that many refused to trust him, and stung because at least if those ideas were universally true he’d be clever and good at things. So he grew understandably miserable and angry, toward education and his classmates most of all. He decided that he might as well not make friends on purpose. He skipped school regularly and didn’t pay attention in class or to anyone around him. Except when he entertained himself by riling up his teachers. But mostly, and increasingly, Rey preferred to avoid interaction altogether - a policy that came to be enforced with glares, growls and cutting remarks. He earned a reputation as a cold, mysterious bad boy.
Monster High was a completely novel environment. Many of the students had had trouble fitting in and at this school they didn’t need to. They wanted to get to know him and be his friends. Unsure of how to deal with this unfamiliar threat to his status quo, he drew further into himself to get them off his back. The teachers meanwhile had the time and energy to effectively care about him, and quickly noticed his difficulty reading. At first he thought they were pitying him when they suggested he was disabled, but getting his dyslexia diagnosis and the accommodations for it have been a huge help. Headmistress Bloodgood wouldn't give up on him and soon had him begin therapy sessions. Slowly he’s learned that he’s allowed to have friends and be happy and his enjoyment of life and school has increased tremendously. But he’ll still bare his fangs if you disrespect him or his friends.
Miscellaneous:
Ghoulia Yelps is tutoring him to help him catch up on earlier topics that he missed due to his irregular attendance. His attendance these days is perfect bar appointments, sick days and so on.
He has a fierce rivalry with Toralei Stripe, who knows exactly how to get under his fur.
Self-deprecating humour is a common manifestation of his self-esteem issues - it takes more than a couple of years for a lifetime of internalizing that you’re stupid to fully go away - but it just makes his friends uncomfortable and they want him to stop, as they see the damage it does.
Gifts, including of money, mean a lot to him with how few nice things he can afford. He treasures all presents he gets and the thought behind them and giving you things, especially handmade is a sure sign he cares about you.
