Tex Avery and Chuck Jones would be so proud and probably laughing their asses off that of all the things that could've gotten Warner in hot water with Hollywood, the American Government and the Public it was the freaking Looney Tunes.

Personal Opinion
Let’s talk about Porky Pig’s Feat, by Frank Tashlin.
Some time ago, I’ve seen some people talking about this short regarding the ship and what that interaction meant if we consider Looney Tunes shorts as a lineal continuity of the characters (as actors growing in their careers).
Tumblr media
In this scene, we see Daffy talking about Bugs with great admiration. “Bugs Bunny! My Hero!” and says he can escape any situation (lol, he has the same expression he does when he’s in love with the hen in Stupid Cupid by the same director), but when they talk to Bugs, he is in shackles just like them.
Tumblr media
Some people say that that’s when he falls from Daffy’s mental pedestal and that’s where their animosity starts out of disappointment, but??? Come on, who is he? Syndrome from The Incredibles??
They are more likely to work together as a team to get out of there, and I can easily see Bugs admiring Daffy, too. I don’t think he does Daffy’s jump in the water for no reason (Hare-um Scare-um, 1939).
Tumblr media
The animosity, coming from Daffy specifically, and the rivarly only start in Rabbit Fire, 1951, as a response of YEARS of Bugs’ increasing popularity in hand with Daffy’s decrease of popularity in the eyes of the public (the real public). Chuck  Jones saw this development in real life and used it, showing how Daffy would react at being left behind by the one who was supposed to be his equal, someone he admires and likes being admired by.

How to Play as Bugs Bunny in DnD 5e
Tumblr media
That’s right, today we’re building the epic icon of Bugs Bunny. As the star of Looney Tunes, I could think of nobody better to start with than Bugs Bunny. Now, Bugs has a lot of tricks up his sleeve. He’s a master of disguise, misdirection, manipulation, he can pull items out of the hammerspace behind his back, and defy the laws of physics. So, clearly Bugs is some kind of all-powerful trickster. But how do we build him?
Tumblr media
For his race, Bugs is a Harengon, a type of rabbitfolk from the feywild. We’ll give him +2 CHA, +1 DEX. As a Harengon, Bugs is a Fey type creature immune to the effects of spells like Charm Person and Hold Person that specify a humanoid target. He also gains proficiency with Perception, adds his proficiency bonus to his initiative rolls, add a d4 to a failed DEX saving throw, and jump five feet times his proficiency bonus.
For his background, Bugs is most famous for his ability to pull things over on unsuspecting maroons. We’ll label him as a Charlatan. Now, why is he not a Performer? Because Charlatans get automatic proficiency with the Disguise Kit. If there’s anything he’s known for, it’s his disguises.
In terms of Alignment, Bugs tap dances on the border between Chaotic Good and Chaotic Neutral.
Tumblr media
BARD COLLEGE OF CREATION
Bugs is undeniably a Bard. He has a long history as a Vaudeville type performer, even canonically being a famous performer in numerous cartoons. In one, his gags with Elmer Fudd even began as a comedy routine they performed on stage, and later evolved to make them a famous comedy duo. In others, he’s a famous celebrity famed for his career in show business. So, he’s definitely a Bard. But, what College? Well, that would be the college of creation. They can create musical notes that attack people, they can pull items out of nowhere, which by 14th level can be Huge items,  they can animate objects around them like some old black-and-white cartoon from the 20s or 30s, and by late game, he can make multiple items at once. As a Bard, we get any three skills, and we’ll take Performance, Persuasion, and Stealth.
Tumblr media
Name: Bugs Bunny Race: Harengon Background: Charlatan Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
STATS STR 8 DEX 20 CON 12 INT 12 WIS 14 CHA 20
SAVING THROWS STR -1 DEX +11 CON +1 INT +1 WIS +2 CHA +11
HP: 123 AC: 15 PB: +6 SDC: 19 SAB: +11 PP: 24 Initiative: +11 Bardic Inspiration: (5) 1d12
SKILLS Deception (+17) Perception (+14) Performance (+11) Persuasion (+17) Sleight of Hand (+17) Stealth (+11)
Tumblr media
SPELLS
C Friends, Mage Hand, Minor Illusion, Prestidigitation, Vicious Mockery 1 Charm Person, Command, Disguise Self, Silvery Barbs, Tasha’s Hideous Laughter 2 Mirror Image, Enthrall, Gift of Gab, Suggestion 3 Antagonize (UA), Dispel Magic 4 Charm Monster, Confusion, Polymorph 5 Dream, Geas, Mislead 6 Mass Suggestion, Otto’s Irresistible Dance 7 Teleport (how he often ends up in the wrong place) 8 Glibness 9 True Polymorph
BARDIC MAGICAL SECRETS 10th Counterspell, Fly 14th Fabricate, Creation 18th Contingency, Reverse Gravity
Tumblr media
WHY NOT ROGUE?
Some may wonder why I didn’t even consider the Rogue for Bugs Bunny. After all, Rogue does have some useful features. Uncanny Dodge and Evasion go a long way to make Bugs as slippery as he is, and that’s a good point. They also get another skill, giving him the chance to pick up Insight proficiency. Sneak Attack bonus also lets Bugs capitalize on his sneaky underhanded tactics. But, there’s a good reason why I chose Bard. Firstly, Arcane Trickster Rogues work off Intelligence, and Bugs is not book smart. He’s a wise guy and a charmer, but one of his common running gags is mispronouncing common sayings, like saying maroon instead of moron. Arcane Tricksters are also cut off at the 4th level, cutting Bugs off from great spells like Creation and Mislead, which go so well with his tactics. Any other type of rogue doesn’t get any spells, which deviates from where Bugs Bunny shines as a DnD Character.
Tumblr media
Bugs is a character I’ve wanted to build for a while. I was going to do him when the Harengon came out, and then I just kind of forgot and left him sitting on a backburner. But he can do everything I would hope for. He’s clever, charming, and most importantly of all, great at manipulating people without outright brainwashing them. Just exploiting their stupidity. And since the Bard of Creation can create just about anything out of thin air, it really lets the player let their imagination run wild. Let’s see how intimidating Strahd is after he’s had an anvil dropped on his head.

(Archive) Animated short film of the day: Duck Amuck (1953)
There's something decidedly self indulgent but nevertheless interesting about using entertainment to discuss entertainment itself: Deconstructions, parodies, and in this case, getting meta; one of the most cerebral and fascinating… if done right. When used poorly it becomes a hand wave or a cynical tool to divert attention away of a work's flaws or be patronising to the audience. When used properly though? It can give us an insight on why we love a medium so much. Which is why this short is a landmark for commercial western animation.
While not the first to make use of the concept of an animator directly interacting with the cartoon character, as Disney's Saludos Amigos (1942) already had some of this, it pushed everything about this gag to the limit. The story(loosely using the term) is pretty much just Daffy getting messed with by whoever is animating(take a guess who that turns out to be) to such an extreme at various different points nothing that is identifiable about Daffy stays: The voice? The character design? Both get played with to nigh unrecognizable points to see how much you can take away while still keeping the audience engaged. And engaged it should be, as not only is the work hilarious but also a small but delicious insight of how animation is made.
Well…was.
It's a short made in the 50's, so some of the gags that may have been a little more obvious then would require some clarification for modern viewers. The core of it, though, remains as appealing as it ever was. Looney Toons shorts can be hit and miss in some areas(some having aged horrendously for a plethora of reasons) but when they hit the mark, they're absolute guaranteed classics and this is one of the best for being so bold on it's approach.

HAPPY DUCKRABBIT ANNIVERSARY
Tumblr media
On this day, in Looney Tunes history, Frank Tashlin returns to WB with his 1943 short starring Porky Pig and Daffy Duck, “Porky Pig’s Feat”. It is the first time Daffy meets Bugs Bunny officially. Today would be the 80th anniversary.
In honor to this short, let’s learn some facts about Frank Tashlin:
Tumblr media
Tashlin directed a lot of Porky films back in the 30s and 40s and most of the Merrie Melodies from 1937-38. Porky was his less favorite character.
He would return to Warner Bros. in 1942 using Bob Clampett's and Norman McCabe's old unit, directing the last set of black-and-white Looney Tunes cartoons.
His last cartoon was "Hare Remover", for which he was uncredited in the short, as he left Warner Bros in 1944 to direct live-action films; his unit was eventually taken over by Robert McKimson.
Tex Avery was a big inspiration for his shorts.
Tashlin worked on camera moves and editing more than any of his peers, using unexpected pans and quick cuts to enhance a gag.
He developed theories of animation design he called “SCOT Art,” which reduced the basic shape of characters to squares, circles, ovals, and triangles.
He is the most daring in using ‘adult jokes’.
He created Petunia Pig.
Let’s see his take on Daffy and Bugs.
Tashlin’s Daffy is a warrior, as always, still having his bad luck on him but facing it like a champ, someone who incites trouble and faces the consequences with no complaint. He is smart, but he uses more muscles than brains.
Tumblr media
“I’m a woman hater!” – Plane Daffy
“Now look at me! A has-been! A henpecked duck! A Kansas-back cassanova! And it's your fault!” – The Stupid Cupid
Tahslin doesn’t have a lot of cartoons for Bugs, but he does a good job in his characterization when he does. Even trying to maintain Avery’s quick movements, Bugs’ response to people bothering him, his elegance, smartness, playfuness, feminity and cuteness remain.
Tumblr media
“I reiterate: only a big, fat rat would shoot a guy in the back.” – Unruly Hare
