To this anon unfortunately for me the damage was done when she tweeted Meghan was “breaking the mould”. The reason is because the idea that the mould for the royal family is someone who is white, is vehemently racist. This is because the mould is a characteristic you need to posses, the characteristic is to keep quiet,private, be modest and to put duty first. To say this is a representation of a white person infers that black people and other races can’t be this as-well.

Saying that someone broke a mould in this context is cementing the inequality of black and white people.

The reason being as breaking the mould can be inferred to be doing the opposite of what the characteristics of a mould are which is someone who is aggressive, who has no respect and no modesty. Something unfortunately black women have been branded as the stereotype for “aggressive black women”.

So for me when Michelle Obama tweeted it hit a nerve as she never grew up on the uk and she doesn’t know what the mould is, I’m a WOC, to me for her to insinuate that, is really wrong as Meghan “breaking the mould” as Michell Obama states - has cemented the unfortunate stereotypes of the black person who can’t be modest, who is beneath white people, according to racists - which is wrong and untrue.

And because of this we see now a race divide in England, where if I were to rightly call someone a racist, instead of being ashamed of themselves they’ll go “Yh I am and what” - and this has happened, right after Meghan left someone was racist to me and I called them out and that was the response. Hence when I see my own people from America defending her I cringe every time, because it’s hurting us rather than helping us.

Sometimes, and I mean this in the kindest way possible, really I do, Americans really need to be quiet and allow British people to explain themselves and understand that although we are a 1st world western country that speak English doesn’t mean we have the same ways of thinking and doing things, And this doesn’t mean one is better or worse, it just means even an American or British person moving to the others country assimilation has to occur and Meghan not doing that IS a slap in the face for British people.

Sorry for this long ass statement but as a WOC, who’s lived and born in the uk, I think people really need to know what we mean in reference to “the mould” in regards to the monarchy - it’s not about race it’s about a characteristic. Kates a great example, Meghan isn’t. Not because of her race but because of her outspoken, rebellious characteristics. There’s a time and a place for opinion however the idea here is that if your going to represent us as a royal you have to do so without complaining and pandering to a specific group.

“That’s either incorrectly reported or someone doesn’t know what occupational therapist means.” - I’m the anon that submitted that Archie has a guidance team, I guess I left that important info out but basically the occupational therapist is for his motor skills and it’s been said Harry was a bit apprehensive but then saw the improvements in archies motor abilities and is now on board so yh. Sorry I didn’t put that in there but Meghan reasoning behind this is she basically wants Archie to be above every other child hence the occupational therapist which not gonna lie make me ver worried for archies future and the stress this may cause him. Yh I saw on Twitter that during the interview Meghan, Harry nor Oprah never referred to her as black but as mixed race because they know that if Meghan was darker her experience would have certainly been a lot more different. I also think it really highlighted if this is how the British media and RBF treated someone who on a good day you could tell is mixed, imagine the treatment a fully black woman would’ve gotten.
