adding to blog - previous concepts
Before i decided to use art as a subject i was originally looking at Jewellery
here are my notes
auckland jewellers
Creatives in auckland
News paper medium - temporary ( ‘used for fish and chips the next day or to start a fire’ )
Jewelry - forever
Paper bags
Receipts
Packaging
Posters
Campaign as a brand
Promoting the value/ art of jewelry
You are what you keep
Secrets
Life and story
Opening up - opening their jewellry boxes
You are what you eat
Plants dying, food rotting
Bouquet with ring
Prom corsaje with necklace
Chocolate wrappers
What can jewlery out live
Motivation -
Jewellery is something with which I believe the wearer can identify and express their personality. It also has the power to recall precious moments and memories. Some people even say that they feel naked without their jewellery! Actors and actresses often remove their jewellery before getting into a character as these personal items carry too much of their own persona. My own memories around jewellery relate to my childhood. I was fascinated with the unusual, delicate pieces my Mother wore which were mainly carefully chosen by my Father. I loved the way she mixed her jewellery which consisted of very contemporary hand-made pieces by artisans. The aesthetic of her unusual, irregular jewellery has grown on me subconsciously and has certainly inspired me in my design.
Jewelry’s durability allows the potential to frequently outlive its original owner, gain sentimental value over successive generations, and influence relationships.

This week New Zealand Trade & Enterprise (NZTE) have opened the doors to Discover New, a pop up retail experience at Chadstone, Melbourne. In a space designed by renowned architects Warren & Mahoney, and brought to life by the expert team at Shirin Pulitano’s design and events agency Dot Dot Dash, Discover New hosts a curated selection of fashion, lifestyle, beauty and homewares from major and emerging New Zealand designers that represent the best of the best.
The concept for the space itself has been closely informed by the New Zealand landscape. ‘Apparel is housed in a dark and moody “volcanic sand” zone, accessories set against the earthy neutral backdrop of “rugged alpine”, and lifestyle products heroed in the verdant “green valley”. Every touch point tells a story’, says Warren & Mahoney Principal Daryl Maguire.
Discover New brands have been selected for their commitment to sustainability, as well as their cutting edge contemporary design. Fashion powerhouses Karen Walker and Kate Sylvester will be at the pop up store (is it even a New Zealand fashion event without them?), alongside luxe go-to basics from JHL by Juliette Hogan; high-end leather goods by Yu Mei; an edit of sustainable fashion from Twenty-Seven Names and Mindful Fashion New Zealand; the epic umbrellas from Blunt, and elegant jewellery from Meadowlark.
The kids clothing almost rivals the adults at Discover New! Some of the BEST outerwear we’ve ever seen (think rain boots, overalls, jackets and puffer jackets) will be on show from Crywolf; alongside thoughtful everyday wear from Nature Baby, and high quality cute shoes for small people from Bobux.
In the lifestyle arena, pieces from the masters of lived in and timeless homewares, Citta Design, will be available, as well as truly heavenly bed linen and cotton home goods from Wallace Cotton.
The robust beauty selection offers nourishing products from Ashley & Co; natural and vegan skincare from Tailor Skin; supplements and skincare from Me Today; delicious face and body saviors from Antipodes; and non-toxic Dermatologist-founded brand Ao Skincare. This stellar lineup will be available to shop both in store (highly recommended!) or online.
See you there!
Discover New by New Zealand Trade & Enterprise May 6th – May 23rd Chadstone the Fashion Capital – across from the Apple store Melbourne, Victoria

sim!! where are all your rings from/ do you know some nice sites/ companies that sell rings? mum suggested buying me a really nice ring for my birthday and I love all of yours.
Most of my rings are from Toni & May, but I’ve also got a vintage ring & one from glebe markets. However, there are a number of jewellery companies I love & I think you just need to do some rummaging on instagram to find them - e.g. HLSK, Natalie Marie Jewellery, Alexis Russell Jewellery, Luna Sky, Another Feather, fiatluxsf, Shashi, Meadowlark, Leah Alexandra Jewellery, Lumo, Lauren Wolf, Sirciam, Lady Faye, Maslo, Margaret Solo, Lisbeth Jewellery, Aili Jewellery, BLTN, Michelle Oh, Me&Ro, White/Space Jewellery, Tai, Kasia - there you go darling !! Much love xx

8 Earrings that Look Just Like Meghan Markle’s
Ear climbers are the perfect accessory for anyone who wants to put a twist on minimalism and get noticed — even if you’re a Duchess. Just yesterday, Meghan Markle stepped out looking sophisticated in a a slim black Hatch Collection dress from Shopbop, a khaki Oscar de la Renta trench coat, and Gianvito Rossi cow print pumps accessorized with an untraditional ear climber (or ear crawler, or ear cuff) from London designer Kimai. The delicate, diamond-crusted bar that reaches up her earlobe with three suspended diamonds is a departure from her usual jewellery style. Markle tends to stick to studs or ear-hugging hoops, so the ear climbers add a sense of drama without any extra piercings (even though there isn’t an official royal rule against them). Since the Felicity earring is sure to feel the effect of the Markle Sparkle and sell out any minute now, we’ve rounded up eight other ear climbers for you to try instead.
