charles is waiting for you outside the club once your uber arrives. it's like he knew when you were going to arrive, like he had a tracker on you – or like he was just waiting for the first best person to get his hands on.

"if it isn't my favorite sainz sibling," he says when he opens the car door for you, his handsome grin flashing down at you as you step out. "had a good day in the paddock?"

"probably better than you," you joke, your hand landing on his shoulder to give him an apologetic rub. "my brother was upgraded to the podium, but you were disqualified, so..."

"shit happens." charles shrugs before snaking his arm around your waist, leading you into the club. "my day is about to get a lot better, though."

a chuckle leaves your mouth. his fingers move up and down your side as you make your way to the bar, and charles slows down every once in a while to greet some friends and other acquaintances.

you wonder what this looks like to those who don't know. you attached to his hip, his tight grip on your side, your body leaning against his. but to those who do know, the sight is nothing strange or unusual. despite how much you both try to deny it – not only to others but also to yourselves – you're drawn to each other like magnets.

"buy me a drink, will you?" you ask.

he's facing you now, and his hand still hasn't left your hip. "no, i don't think so." you raise your eyebrows, tilting your head to the side at his words. "i know what it would lead to. and we both made a promise not to go there, didn't we?"

"maybe so. but..." you pull your fingers through your hair, shaking out your locks. "what if i make it up to you?"

"and how would you do that?"

you pretend to think about it for a moment, pursing your lips. "i'll tell you the color of my panties."

charles pauses, his mouth dropping slightly open as his expression grows blank. you can practically see the gears turning in his head, and you have to let out a laugh.

"oh, you're actually considering it?" you ask teasingly, shooting him a wink as he just blinks at you.

his free hand drags across his face and he drags his hand down his face. his voice is low when he speaks. "shit, you can't just say that."

"why?"

he groans and his eyes wander across the room, hoping that looking away will save his cheeks from growing even hotter than they already are. "it makes me think things i shouldn't think about. not when i'm trying to stay away from you."

your hand on his cheek makes him look back down at you. you know what he's thinking, you can see it in his eyes. he wants you – and you want him too. "you hate it, don't you?" you smile up at him. "me being your teammate's sister?"

"so much."

your hand moves from his cheek to his neck, fingers playing with the short strands for a moment. you have to step closer to reach the back of his head, dragging your hand through his digits as his warm breath fans over your face. his adams apple bobs when he gulps, his eyes hazy and gaze weak.

it's so easy for you to get to charles. you always leave him feeling weak in his knees, like the breath has been sucked out of his lungs, like the annual butterfly convention is located in his stomach.

you know he won't be able to refrain. he'll have to give in.

"this would get so messy," he says, voice low as a whisper.

the dress you're wearing is so short that charles doesn't have to reach far down to find the edge of it. his fingers pinch the material, the corners of his lips turning up when it rides up even higher on your thigh. "you know it's worth it, though," you answer simply, trying your best not to lose your cool. you don't want him to see what effect his actions have on you – you are supposed to be the teasing one.

his thumb draws circles into the inside of your thigh, and you squeeze your legs together instinctively. the action reminds him of how he's seen you before, legs clenched around him with your hands in his hair just like now, and the thought causes his brain to short-circuit (and the tent in his pants grow). he shakes his head, unwillingly pulling his hand away from you to grab your hand. "okay. you win," he mutters, intertwining his fingers with yours. he pulls your hand up to his mouth to place a quick kiss on the back of it, as if to show you that he isn't actually as upset as the playful frown on his face tells you, before dragging you with him to the door again.

"i always do, don't i?"

"shut it."

"wait, i wanted you to buy me a drink-"

A/N: the lack of gifs for this king suxxx! I know he hasn’t had that MANY scenes but I’ve seen maybe 3 or 4 in total for him? He’s acted in other shows too so I’m confused? I wish I knew how to make gifs because I would be on it! How are you all handing this all american drought? I’ve been watching EricaVainTv on YouTube discuss the show to fill my Monday night voids lol. This one is inspired by my old boys prettymuch’s song and I knew I had to write this for someone.

Originally Asher came to mind for this one but again I’m not a Asher stan at all lmao. And I feel like Chris could use another piece. Here’s a blurb or mini fic? Hope you like it!

Chris Jackson couldn’t lie. Sometimes he had a curious mind and when he became curious that led to other things...Those other things included finding what was up with onlyfans. First he did it as a joke to see what all the hype was about and he might have put a picture up or two to get a little extra coin but it was very short lived. Plus he didn’t make as much as he thought he would have. He knew he deserved more than what he got (with his thirst traps) but he could have kept working at it if he was truly dedicated—but found that he wasn’t. He didn’t see the thrill of it personally.

However when boredom crossed his mind along with some exhaustion, he found himself lounging in bed browsing through the app. He came around a user named: Shea Lemon and actually found himself engaged in her content. And not only was she bad, Chris knew there was more to her. So he became engrossed with her, almost addicted some might say and subscribed for a good price. It took some time but he found her Instagram but knew it was the one that she kept attached to “Shea Lemon.”

The moment he got to talk to her, it was immediately flirtatious and when he first heard her voice it took things to a whole different level. Chris knew in the back of his mind that this wouldn’t be a long lasting encounter, it just couldn’t with the nature of this... “relationship.” Although he couldn’t let himself sink into the negative, he lived a negative state before and it took awhile to get out of so he was learning to live in the moment. Something separate from football.

“Where you from anyways?” Chris remembered asking, angling his laptop on his knees.

She smirked her voice appearing in that usual whimsical tone, “you gonna fly out to see me, Chris?”

“I might...if you give me a discount.” Chris half-joked.

She laughed.

“If you’re complaining so much then you should unsubscribe.”

Chris snorted rubbing the back of his neck, “I don’t think I would even if I could.”

The two were quiet, a track by Leven Kali playing in the background from Chris’ computer as he kept his eyes on her who moved around her room which was illuminated in a red hue. She looked like she all set up for another show. She came closer to view, her lips painted and eyes locked on the phone that sounded a text was sent her way. She took a huge inhale, before her fingers clacked over her keyboard before setting her phone back down.

“Corpus Christi.” Was what she replied with, her eyes meeting Chris’

Chris finally broke his stare, looking elsewhere as he thought this over. “And that is...”

“Where I’m from, where I reside.”

And the conversation was cut short that day, saying she had business to attend to. Something Chris wasn’t sure of but as he read through some of her comments on Instagram he noticed one dude in particular commenting a lot and he had to be in his thirties. He left a whole lotta heart-eyed emojis and complimented some goofy gooey ass stuff.

The next time he talked to her, he questioned her about it.

“He’s my other source of income.” She came right out with it.

Chris lifted his brows, “and what does that mean?”

“Don’t get me wrong, only fans helps a good amount...yet I’m not like these celebrities who already have a fan base and hop on for greed. We had to work hard to get where I’m at and I’m thankful for the subscribers I have but...I’m also a sugar baby.”

Chris cleared his throat as he thought this over.

“So you’re a...escort?”

“No.” She responded, “Thankfully, Warren doesn’t require the sexual part of our relationship. Just needs someone on his arm for huge events and to keep him company.”

“And he can’t get a dog or some shit?” Chris scowled.

She was a little taken back by his tone.

Chris sighed, “sorry. It’s just you’re taking on a lot don’t you think?”

“Are you going to pay my bills?” She asked, “that’s right. I’m taking on bills at 19 by myself with no one to help me out and even if I did have help, i wouldn’t ask. Just like I’m not asking for your judgement right now.”

“I’m not judging you. I’m just trying to understand you.”

“There’s nothing to understand. I’m just some girl you met off the internet. Don’t make this bigger than what it is, Chris Jackson.”

And that led to later apologies and the two being on better terms. Chris had to grasp that he didn’t need to understand what he was not part of. Sure she let him get a glimpse into her life but he could not alter it. Sure he could try and felt like the moment she showed up in Crenshaw she was opening a door to let him change her reality. Or so he thought. He didn’t know how but he could figure out the why.

Maybe she needed something different, something stable? Or her idea of stable with Chris. She wanted to keep herself hidden as she saw into Chris’ world but Chris didn’t keep her that much of a secret from Spencer and Patience.

Patience was actually his main girl best friend and when she found her waltzing around in Chris’ house in nothing but his t-shirt, you know Patience had some shit to say.

“I know you’re not being a dumbass right now.” Patience voiced after Chris gave a brief rundown of his relationship with this random girl.

Chris huffed then smirked, “I think I’m enjoying my summer right now.”

Patience gave him a good punch to his chest. She always had clean right hook, Chris remembered as he rubbed at his pec with a glare.

“That explains why no one knows where your ass is half of the time. Cause you’re out here playing house with someone you barely know...does your mom know you’re keeping her here?” Patience crossed her arms.

Chris thought about it, “I don’t know mom do you?”

“Oh I see you’re trying to be funny but I’m not laughing.”

Chris gripped Patience’s shoulders, “look I appreciate your concern and everything but it’s all good. We’re good. I doubt this is even going to last but I’m happy right now and I haven’t felt like this in awhile.”

“Don’t place your happiness in anyone.” Patience warned, “but I’m not going to say anything to anyone else...I’m going back to minding my business but you better be careful what you drag home.”

“What kinda dude do you think I am? I don’t need to drag any girl here, they’ll gladly walk with me.” Chris brushed his shoulders off while Patience rolled her eyes.

“I’m leaving.”

Chris ushered her out of his house, Patience sending a warning glare over her shoulder at him and sent one last questioning stare at the stranger in her friend’s house but ultimately made her exit.

“Thank goodness she’s gone.” Chris laughed spinning on his heels to face her who peeked up from her phone.

“Why’s that?”

“So I could do a little bit of this,” Chris strolled over wrapping his arms around the small of her waist to lock their lips in a passionate kiss.

Chris then slid his hands lower to grab a handful, “and a little bit of that.”

She laughed, “that’s nothing new.”

“I can show you something new back in that room, just give me a few minutes of your time, Corpus Christi.” He used her nickname as he pressed a kiss to her ear.

“Okay.” She agreed and Chris lifted her with ease, his lips lingering against her neck as he brought her back to his room once again.

It was funny how Chris’ sheets always smelled like fresh laundry, patchouli, and...lemons—at least now they did with her face buried deep in them.

His head rested against her bare stomach as her phone buzzed. Sorely she reached for her phone with Chris protesting as she laughed.

“My phones been on silent for the pass two hours, Chris. I can’t keep ignoring work.”

“I thought you were on vacation.”

She sighed, “Yes, for these last four days but I can’t stop my income completely. I have to check back in.”

Chris rolled off her, “right with mr. Paul Newman.”

She tilted her head at that, “who?”

“Famous actor from ‘cat on a hot tin roof’? and ‘Cool hand Luke’?” Chris rounded off.

She blinked.

“So uncultured. Old Hollywood films actually aren’t half bad minus the huge lack of poc in them but that’s another conversation for another day.” Chris stated.

She absentmindedly nodded her head as she unlocked her phone to read some messages. That’s when she quickly scrambled up making Chris look over at her wide-eyed at this action.

“What did your sugar daddy suddenly die?”

Normally she might have scolded him for his dark joke. But this apparently wasn’t a laughing matter.

“My boyfriend is fifteen minutes away from my airbnb.”

Chris also didn’t know how to feel at this new found information. Not only was she a cam girl with a sugar daddy but she also had a boyfriend. Damn. Chris sure knew how to pick them.

“Wooow, okay.” Chris was slower at moving.

She fumbled to jump into her ripped jeans, pushing her hair back behind her ears before looking around the room frantically for her other clothing items and sleepover bag.

“What are you doing?” She asked, seeing from the corner of her eye Chris finding clean clothes to put on.

Chris stretched, “I’m taking you back to your Airbnb to meet up with your boyfriend.”

“You’re not meeting him.”

Chris smirked, “I didn’t mean that literally but it would be secretly funny to smile in his face knowing that I smashed his girl right under his nose huh?”

Dudes ain’t shit. As always.

“No! It wouldn’t.” She breathed.

“So he doesn’t know the real reason why you’re out here was to see me, damn CC. I didn’t think you’d be that sneaky. Does he know about everything else?” Chris folded his arms as she continued collecting her things.

She stood up straight, “he sure does. We can’t only depend on his rap career. He was actually more annoyed about onlyfans than me dealing with Warren.”

“Clearly he’s not all the way there.” Chris decided knowing that didn’t make much sense, “so...shall we?”

Her phone continued blowing up which she halted, weighing her options. Chris has his mother’s car for the week and that would get her there faster than waiting who knows how long on a Uber. This was the risk she was taking but she was never one to back down from anything. And she knew Chris Jackson wouldn’t either.

“Fine.”

Chris held his hands out to give her the invitation to lead the way out of the room with a huge smug smile on his face.

“...so what’s his rap name?” Chris chuckled, glad he could find humor in his Rendezvous with the famous Corpus Christi.

Technically, no one tagged me. But I saw @thinkingisadangerouspastime‘s self interview on my dashboard, and she opened it up to anyone who wanted to do this. So here I am!

Name: Northern_Goshawk (sometimes with, sometimes without the underscore in between), but you can call me Northern or North, whatever variant works for you!

Where do you post: FF.Net is my main account, but lately I’ve also been posting on AO3. I do have a Wattpad, but it’s basically dead right now. Oh, and sometimes I post drabbles here, on Tumblr. Just drabbles, though.

Most popular multi-chapter fic: In terms of having an actual plot and being structured like a book? It’d probably be The Water Trials, my still-ongoing Maze Runner AU ATLA fic; it has 12 favs & 13 follows on FF.Net and 3 kudos & 2 subscriptions on AO3. Tallying that up, it’s the most popular. But if we were to look at the term literally, as in having multiple chapters, then my drabble series Too Late takes the cake, with 27 favs & 31 follows. I guess everyone likes the angst 🤷‍♀️

Favorite story you’ve written so far: Definitely my introspective Aang-centric fic the avatar’s fear! This 13.8k oneshot is my pride and joy, what I consider my crowning achievement; I like to say that if there is any fic you want to read from me, this is the fic. I really love it because when I set out to write it, my goal was to portray Aang as this complex, three-dimensional character (and subtly address a lot of the slander that goes around the internet about him), and from the feedback I got from a lot of the comments, I succeeded!

I want to take a moment to acknowledge @thinkingisadangerouspastime (yes, I tagged you twice, but this is important!), because it was her two fics, broken pieces still belong (a Katara-centric fic that focuses on the complexity of her grief and rage) and all i know is gone (but i am not alone) (an Aang-centric fic that focuses on his grief), that served as inspiration and even a guide for me while I was writing “the avatar's fear.” In fact, I even made a reference to “all i know is gone (but i am not alone)” in it:

iii. all I know is gone, but even when I had everything, no one wanted me around… I guess it's just a feeling I need to get used to (they see me as a weapon, but they forget I'm human too)

I highly recommend those two fics to anyone who is a Katara and/or Aang stan!

Anyways, this oneshot was well worth the effort of creating, and I’m so, so happy I was able to do Aang justice!

Fic you were nervous to post: Oh, definitely dragon blood, with several reasons why:

- I spent a total of 2 days on this fic, which is... a lot less than what I usually spend for anything that’s not a drabble. So I was nervous, wondering if I was rushing it, going back and editing it over and over and over again.

- It’s from Suki’s POV. Now, because we don’t see much of Suki in the actual series itself, I didn’t know if I managed to nail down her voice all that well. I was also worried that it focused too much on Aang, so I added in edits that intermingled Suki’s experiences in the war with the present.

I might’ve also been nervous in posting The Water Trials, since it’s a Maze Runner Future Dystopian AU ATLA fic, and I wasn’t sure how many people would actually enjoy something like this. But a surprisingly decent amount of people seem to like it, or even just the concept of it, so I’m happy about that.

How do you choose your titles: Most of the time, I like to look at the main “point” of the fic, the main topic/theme, and make up a title based off of that, but sometimes I make up the title based on the recurring motif in the fic.

Do you outline: Boy, do I! There are rare cases in which I don’t; “dragon blood” is one such rarity*. Otherwise, most of my fics have either a detailed outline or general idea blurb on what to include, how to structure it, etc. For multi-chapter fics, I tend to do a chapter-by-chapter outline, in which I figure out what I want to happen in each chapter (with ideas thrown under the chapters I want to include them in).

*The first draft had an idea blurb on how it would be structured, but it was scrapped entirely, and the final version was written without an outline.

Complete: It would be easier to list the fics I haven’t completed yet: The Water Trials and “Too Late.” I’m not counting my discontinued fics from MCSM and Bakugan (I was going through a weird phase) since I’m no longer in those fandoms.

Do you accept prompts: Sure. In fact, my entire Kataang: Kiss 22 (20) series is based upon @lanjunlazy’s Kiss 22 prompt artwork series (minus the ones that are NSFW); check out her artwork, btw. However, I will have to say that there are certain prompts I will not do if they don’t align with my own belief set, being a Christian. Don’t let that stop you from talking to me, though! Even if we might disagree, I want you to know that you are always welcome on my blog :)

Upcoming story you’re most excited to write about: The rest of The Avatar Experiment series, the series that The Water Trials is in! I can’t wait to share it with the rest of you guys.

Stories you’re most excited to read: The rest of Ogro’s/Baithin’s Distorted Reality! It’s such an awesome ATLA Role Swap AU because instead of the swapped characters being carbon copies of their canon counterparts, they still retain their own personality as in canon, and every character has their backstory or role reinvented so that the story is fresh while also being familiar!

Also any character death fics and/or introspective Aang-centric fics (recs? anyone?).

This is the art for the cover of Cavaliers of Mars by Chris Huth, and it just so strongly reminds me of Mike Mignola’s comic art for Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser, but even more detailed. Those comics were early 90s, and I was thrilled to be able to hire Mike Mignola some years later for the covers and some interior pieces for the editions of their adventures White Wolf reissued under our Legends fiction imprint.

Which is a round-about way of saying: I like that Cavs cover!

It’s sword and sorcery, and pretty inspiring, and Rose Bailey absolutely loves that inspirational material. She’s woven a setting that draws on all that great early sword and sorcery, and modern fiction and anime, and more. V20 Dark Ages Jumpstart Ventrue

One thing, if you do: don’t be put off by Cavaliers of Mars‘ Kickstarter Estimated Delivery dates. We’ve had many adventures with those dates, and at this point I just stretch them out far further than we really plan to deliver. I know that scares off some backers, but it’s a trade-off between accuracy and our process that needs to allow creators to take more time than originally estimated in order to nail the feeling and info they want to deliver for the project.

Or to allow creators who have unforeseen life changes come up, that prevent them from delivering when they originally thought they could, to still continue helming their projects. Like I mentioned last week, our creative process has been very much developer-driven going back to when Onyx Path was founded. So our estimates have been mostly based on working out delivery dates with the developer(s) and then extending the estimates out from there.

Rather than tie ourselves to the dates, we’ve extended the time-frames, maybe ridiculously. We’re also aiming to only go live with a Kickstarter after the text is completely finished and not add entire new sections to the KS’d project that would delay delivering the book to backers. And like I also mentioned these last couple of weeks, we’re bringing in more support folks like Eddy Webb to help beleaguered developers finish their projects.

If these initiatives help out, we’re more than likely to pull back the Estimated Delivery deadlines to more normal time-frames.

Speaking of initiatives, remember when I wrote about our Extended Media projects? Sure you do! I babbled on about them for quite a few blogs in the early parts of this year. Let’s see how they’re doing!

First, we have our fiction books getting onto Amazon and the Nook marketplace. We have put multiple waves of books up in both places, for a total of 25 books (a combination of novels, anthologies, and a cookbook) all in the proper Kindle and Nook formats for easy and convenient reading. World of Darkness, Chronicles of Darkness, Exalted, and Scarred Lands fiction are all up there. They’re selling and we’ll be adding more as we publish them, but we’re caught up on the backlog, so the new titles are likely to come out as each one is ready.

This was, I think, a win for what we were trying to do, and a big round of applause for Bill Bridges and Valerie Tate!

Val also has been working with our first App team in creating Onyx Path‘s dice rolling app. We’re nearing the time that we’ll be able to release the app, and we’re starting with ten-sided dice pools for Scion, and our licensed WW IPs, but the app is customizable for any 10-sided pool system. (And before we release to the public we need the OK from WW and then we need to send the very patient backers of Werewolf 20th their dice rolling app stretch goal rewards).

This project rolls into another with our App team, and things are looking awesome with it, so another expected win here – but we’ll hold off on actually marking that down until it releases.

Then we have the online gaming accessories, and here we’ve had less success. We are getting more traction on those venues (like Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds) but that’s mostly because fans (in the companies involved or their existing customers) are making stuff, but we have not yet. Mostly, so far I haven’t been able to find creators we can hire on as freelancers.

We’re not giving up though, and with our recent purchase of Scarred Lands, I have some hopes that we’ll be able to work with some of the folks already engaged with SL in the online gaming space. But for now, I’ve got to take the hit for this and call it a loss. For now.

On a different topic, I also said a few weeks ago that I’d relate the new projects and such revealed at Gen Con last August. I’ve done Chronicles of Darkness, so this week it’s Exalted 3rd.

Besides the ongoing monthly monster and antagonists releases, we have The Realm and Dragon-Blooded. Which you pretty much know about. We expect Dragon-Blooded‘s Kickstarter next year to generate additional projects, some DB-oriented and others maybe not, so we’re keeping our “official slate of releases” pretty much focused on the big books with the expectation that smaller projects will fill in from that Kickstarter.

Because we know that our Exalted community needs certain big books in order to play their ongoing games, we’re focusing on Lunars and then Exigents after DB. The old and then the new, as it were. We really think that will take us through the year, so even though we do have ideas for starting to work in some of the already-announced projects, and even some new ones, we want to get our Dev team entirely through The Realm and Dragon-Blooded and all that goes along with developing those books, before committing to anything further.

Too much, too fast has already slammed our Exalted developers going all the way back, and we’d like to avoid that with our new team.

TODAY’S REASON TO CELEBRATE: We did not celebrate the coming of Autumn yet, but it happened. The Fall. My favorite time of the year, and it’s not for all the pumpkin spice crap. Here in the NE USA, we have the leaves changing to reds, golds, oranges, yellows, and darkness comes earlier. The air gets crisper and cooler, less humid. We can wear layers and jackets! And Winter is coming, but it ain’t here yet, so let’s have some fun!
