Thinking about Vyncent's character makes me genuinely upset and not in the way where it's because of how sad or interesting his character is. (This rant will have references to important PD episodes through-out the entire series)

Vyncent's character in PD was robbed. Almost every character moment was either a forced in flaw that took one episode to overcome or it relied on the other PD members to be there.

During the S2 Training Arc, Vyncent had a mini-arc about overcoming his trust issues. Trust issues that had never been brought up before that and still haven't been mentioned after. Even ignoring that, trust issues make absolutely no sense for his character and even go against his characterization.

Vyncent's biggest flaw wasn't ever trust issues, it was his indecisiveness. He'd always had somebody to listen to or turn to when there was a problem and because of that, he never made an effort to make decisions on his own.

This flaw makes sense for his character as it builds off of the fact that Vyncent had always been mimicking somebody or following orders from them and never was the one to decide his own actions. He had The Greats when he was younger, and S1 and early S2, to guide him. When he didn't have the Greats, he had William.

This flaw was also brought up in the S2 Grayscale Arc, where when William made the decision to help David, Vyncent wasn't sure if he agreed but went along with it anyways because he trusted William's directions. Vyncent was later shown regretting this while hiding in the elevator, and wishing he could think of a plan to fix things. (This is specifically brought up in the Vyncent in a Vator song.)

This moment could've been the perfect catalyst for an Arc about Vyncent's Inductiveness, but it was left there.

Not only that, but as I said earlier, trust issues actively contradicts his own characterization. He was actually very trusting throughout the entirety of PD, which also builds off of his indecisiveness and how he trusts others to make decisions for him.

He had a perfectly good flaw that made sense for his character, but instead they chose to railroad one in for some god forsaken reason.

I didn't even bring up how Vyncent has almost no meaningful dynamic with anyone besides William, how them going to his home world that he had been ripped away from lasted only a couple of episodes, how his character is often used to develop William's instead of his own, or how generally inconsistent his character is.

Vyncent Sol isn't even my favorite character.

June 1

Soon, Caleb's first child would be born into the world. The due date is June 21st but babies have a history of doing things on their own time clock.

After paying a quick visit to his sister in Forgotten Hollow, he takes the Vatore private jet to Sulani. He promised Vera he would check in on her brother and his family.

After ringing the doorbell, he hears a voice telling him to come in and that "Mr. Apollo" would be back from the store shortly. The voice sounds oddly familiar to him and he doesn't understand why until he walks into the home.

He hasn't seen her this close since 1846 but he still knows his cousin anywhere. "Lily." He says in shock. He can't believe his eyes yet he knows they never fail him.

Lily freezes. She senses the vampire the moment he walks through the door and hugs the toddler in her arms closer to her. She relaxes only slightly when she hears Caleb's voice. A voice she hadn't heard in so many years. It sounds the same as the last time she actually spoke to him over a game of chess in the living room of the Vatore Mansion before he and Lilith were ripped away from their human lives.

"It's time for his nap. Let me put him down then we shall speak." Lily says before heading upstairs, not glancing at her cousin. She's not quite ready to really look at him.

The clouds have moved in and covered the island by the time Lily gets AJ to go to sleep. She heads outside to find Caleb. She can smell him. Gone is the scent of horses and hay that she used to associate with her cousin Caleb, now it's replaced with the smell of death and expensive cologne.

It's hard for her to look at him, he looks the exact same but he's not the same. She on other hand, has aged. Slower than if she was still human but she's an old woman now.

"I never thought I would see you again this close." Caleb admits, she had always stayed in Moonwood Mill all these years. Every so often he or Lilith would get close to the town to catch a glimpse of their cousin, just to see if she's still living.

Lily breathes heavy at this words. This close - they must be the vampires that Kristopher worried about sniffing around every so often. She isn't sure what to say. "I didn't want to see my cousins as they monsters they've become."

"I did not choose to become this!" Caleb exclaims with anger. No, it had not be his choice by any means. "Helena changed me without my consent!"

Lily finally looks up at him. She had her suspicions all these years about what had happened. "What about Lilith?"

Caleb frowns, despite his sister and wife both trying to ease his guilt, he still feels responsible for his sister being a vampire. "She asked Count Vladislaus Straud to turn her. She did not want me to be alone."

Lily slowly digests the information. On one hand, she couldn't understand anyone wanting to become a blood drinking creature but on the other, she gets it deep down. Lilith and Caleb had always had a strong bond with each other.

"You two have still drank innocent blood over the years. How many have you two killed?" She asks him. She has to know.

Caleb thinks of how to answer this. Does turning three people between himself and his sister count as killing? Ciara counts, even though he thought Vera was dead. "I have turned two people. Liberty Lee and Inna Cents. I thought I had killed Liberty but that is another story." Caleb pauses. "Lilith turned her ex-boyfriend, Jackson but he asked her to. As for her killing anyone, that is her story to tell, not mine."

Lily waits for him to continue, trying to keep her emotions in check.

"I killed a witch named Ciara Scott. She kidnapped Vera and I thought she had killed Vera." Caleb actually has regret over taking Ciara's life, despite everything she did to Vera - she was still a living being.

Things grow quite. Both cousins are seemingly hugging themselves in an effort to find calm in the midst of their current emotional situation.

"I regret the bad things I have done." Caleb says truthfully. "I am on a strict plasma fruit and plasma fruit juice diet now. My wife would not put up with me going around and drinking from unwilling people and I really do not want to be that person anymore."

Lily slowly nods. She has heard bits and pieces while working for Apollo and Naya. She doesn't doubt that Vera would put up with that behavior from Caleb. "Lilith?"

Caleb sighs, out of habit and because he doesn't want to answer the question. "She drinks human blood once in awhile but does not kill them."

Things become quiet again and the silence stretches until Lily speaks. "You're going to be a Father."

Caleb smiles for the first time since their encounter started. "Yes. Soon, Vera is due this month."

Lily nods, she was shocked, to say the least, when she learned of the pregnancy. She had to do some digging to find out how it's even possible. It seems magic can do many things. "Are things going okay with the pregnancy? Mr. Apollo says they are."

"They are outside of a warlock named James." Caleb says quietly, the smile fading from his face. "I think he may try something during the birth."

Lily growls low in her throat, if Caleb wasn't a vampire, he may have not heard it. "If you need my help..."Caleb looks at her in surprise but Lily holds up her hand. "The baby is my family. Whether he or she ends up being human, merfolk or...vampire. Still family."

Caleb does something extremely risky for his kind as the rain beings to fall on Sulani. He grabs Lily and hugs her. It's a rare hug between a werewolf and a vampire, but Lily's offer of help means the world to him as does getting to see her again. He knows he's caught her off guard by how her body goes rigid. Lily thinks of throwing him off her briefly but she finds herself hugging him back. It has been over a hundred years since she's gotten to hug one of her family members. She lets everything go for the time being and simply enjoys the moment.

Winter Solstice - Part 2 Part 1 is -> here

Night fell over the Temple and Lady Demon arrived with her client to claim Ji Ho. Since he's without a rightful bonded after Vlad went to the Otherworld without him. It's Caleb Vatore! Caleb: "You didn't exaggerate, Lady Demon. He's beautiful." Even Dtui seems to be enchanted by Caleb!

Caleb: "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ji Ho." (Exactly the moment Ji Ho and Caleb touched for the first time, the lights went on! ö.ö And Lady Demon seems very pleased with herself ^^')

Ji Ho was stunned. And when he was able to use his brain again he regretted his choice of dress. (He initially chose this attire to scare off any potential client ^^')

They went inside to hear Ji Ho's decision. Genji or Caleb. Huh - Ji Ho started to think that maybe it is not that bad of an idea to try it with Caleb... Vlad still had 3 days to claim him back. And if not... Caleb: "I will treat you like a prince." ... he would treat him like a prince...

Ji Ho: "Uhm... ok - I guess?" Omg Ji Ho ^^'

Ji Ho excused himself to have a short talk with his friends. Jack: "Gods - what? Caleb Vatore? And he pays for you? Tell him he can have me in addition at no extra charge!" Saiwa: "Oh my, he's so handsome - and he's kind. It will work out, you'll see. And if Vlad doesn't come back - I mean, I hope he does - but ... it's Caleb Vatore!"

And so they set everything up for the ceremony.

Caleb: "You are so beautiful."

I have it, but I don't post a photo because I'm remodeling it. and I play with ir, but in dress-up game way, I use it to recreate outfits and get an idea of how to change my hair 🌞

“My dear boy...” Vlad began with a mournful sigh, “...back when I was in the predicament you are in now, as I was shutting down the donor banks, I came across a young woman who had been captive in one particular den of iniquity for many years since she was a girl!”

“Miss Hell?”

“Quite, young Marybell Smith was near death when I found her, the vampire who kept her as his daily food supply had drained her to the point of extinction! It was either let nature take its course or...”

“Turn her!”

“Exactly my boy, well I decided to give the girl a chance! But she turned out to be a ruthless creature who stalked a young Italian boy who had recently moved to Brindleton Bay with his sister, she herself had discovered what I was and had a morbid fascination with vampires!”

“Are you talking about the Vatore siblings?”

“Twins actually, but yes, Lilith would visit me often and take notes on my very long life. She found it a novelty to speak with someone who had lived through many events in history that were centuries in the past!”

“But like every other young lady I had encountered after my transition, she wanted something from me...eternal life! Even more so when she found out that Marybell Smith was pursuing her gentle, wouldn’t say boo to a goose twin brother. She had a dark side, Lilith, she makes the perfect vampire you see...the perfect combination of fair and menacing!”

“So how did Miss Hell get to Caleb if you turned Lilith to protect him?”

“Lilith’s transition was...let’s just say...traumatic for us both! I nearly lost her, not all humans survive the turn! Only vampires who don’t know what they are doing choose the ones who cannot withstand the bite!”

“But if she makes the perfect vampire then...”

“How did she almost perish? Well that is a mystery no one has been able to solve for me. Not the Beakers, not the Sages...not a soul! But Lilith is still here to tell the tale! Sadly as she was fighting for her unlife, Marybell made her move and swooped down upon young Caleb, seducing him, he didn’t know what hit him! It’s perhaps a blessing that they were turned so closely together, such is their sibling bond, neither could live without the other!”

“So what happened after Miss Hell turned Caleb? I’d have thought that Lilith would’ve kicked her ass!”

“Oh she did, once Caleb transitioned, he took off into the night, terrified! He had no idea what had happened! He sought shelter from a sweet young girl he was courting, Inna Cents, she took care of him but alas his bloodlust came to the fore and he drained her almost dry! When Marybell found him, she found the entire thing highly amusing! Lilith arrived to witness her brother sobbing, holding a limp Inna covered in blood. She went for Marybell right there, but like the coward that she is, Marybell fled! Lilith forced Caleb to turn Inna as atonement for almost killing her! Miss Cents survives to this day!”

“So Miss Hell has been raising literal hell since you turned her?”

“As you youngsters say, pretty much, yes! So I apologise for my part in this, if I’d known what an evil wretch Marybell would have turned out to be, I’d have left her to die in her own filth that night!” Vlad was torn up about the whole thing, Miss Hell seemed to be his biggest regret, and this man had very few regrets over his long life. I got the impression that he wanted to destroy his mistake, like I had wanted to destroy Grayson Chambers. Did I have another battle on my hands? A President’s work is never done!

I know my blog has been pretty negative lately

With everything going on in the simblr community that is shitty, I thought it would be nice to get away from that and send out some love to my favorite simblrs. This is by no means a complete list-- I love everyone I follow and all of my followers. This is just simblrs I've talked to a lot or am close with, or those whose stories or posts I follow closely.

@camisimblr is one of the most friendly, funny, and down to earth person I’ve ever met, and the first person I truly talked to regularly on here. She’s working through her Not So Berry challenge and is currently on Gen 3. I really recommend checking it out, especially as the captions on her gameplay are always class. If that’s not your thing, no worries! She also has a new simblr game going on where she presents a sim and gives clues as to the parents for anyone to guess! If that’s not your thing, follow her anyways because shes an amazing person!

@simvanglade is AN ABSOLUTE RIOT. She is so funny and so kind to everyone (except Peppa.) She’s currently working through the Not So Berry challenge and is on Gen 1, so now’s the perfect time to quickly catch up since there’s so much more good stuff to come! Her gameplay is ace and her captions are so funny and relatable. She also has some new stuff on the way that I’M SUPER EXCITED FOR. 👀👀👀 Go drop this lady a follow (or else Peppa will come for you 🔪)

@simmingkatie is the SWEETEST human being, and she just has this natural aura of happiness around her that makes you feel right at home when you’re talking! She just finished her Pancake’s Rerun story, so it’s a great time to binge read that ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE. (honestly, go read it. It’s super good.) She’s also about to start posting her Bachelorette challenge with Alexis which is sure to be a great time, and is also working on Gen 2 of the Not So Berry Challenge! Also it looks like there might be some youtube videos coming 👀 Just like the other two above, if you’re looking for humorous captions and relatable down-to-earth commentary, look no further!

@fataleromeo is one of the most caring people I’ve ever met, and spreads love wherever she goes; Her writing is phenomenal, and her commentary is witty as hell. One of the many things she’s working on currently is her Fatale legacy. Having just finished Phoenix’s generation, it’s a fantastic opportunity for new followers to go back and catch up before she starts posting Ezra. (and from her amazing writing of the past two generations, it’s obvious that she’s going to absolutely SMASH this next one!) Alongside that, she too is about to start posting her Bachelor Challenge with Gabe AND has gameplay posts of the Not So Berry challenge (she’s up to the third generation!) With so many projects going (I honestly don’t know how she does it) you’re sure to never go long without some great content from her! I also saw a post about her making a sim for the human enough challenge and saying she probably won’t get around to it, but we can all hope, right? 👀

@weicyn / @cyanidelegacy I swear one of these days I’m going to go back to and read your stories from the beginning. This girl has SUCH GOOD STORY POSTS and if you’re looking for something to binge read, the Cyanide Legacy should definitely be a go-to! Along with her phenomenal writing, Cyn also has such a good and caring heart, and will help you wherever she possibly can! Go follow her!

@erosims is so supportive and helpful, I don’t know what I’d do without them if I have issues with either things in my day to day life or my cc. They’re also an amazing mod and cc creator themselves, along with reblogging others’ creations! If you’re looking for practical and incredibly useful mods and cc with a user who is incredibly caring and supportive, you’ve found the blog you’re seeking!

@skullysimblr is a blogger I look up to immensely. They’ve made it to !generation 9! in the Not So Berry challenge, and have hilarious captions to boot! If you have some time and want to binge some awesome content, I recommend going and showing them some love-- trust me, they’ll return it!

@toffeetip super kind and funny, and has amazing screenshots and gameplay posts, as well as releasing amazing cc! Just a very well-rounded blog that has everything you could ask for, tbh, along with a blogger that spreads love like crazy!

@starry-eyed-simss is currently writing Iorie Hills in her legacy challenge, as well as an AU for Strangerville. If you haven’t yet seen enough gameplay for the pack, I RECOMMEND IT HIGHLY (even if you have seen enough, you really won’t regret checking this out.) Iorie is an incredibly interesting and fun character and if you haven’t yet started reading that legacy-- oof. get over the their blog and catch up. I admit unashamed that I wait for the updates because I am THAT into both of these stories.

@liliumpixels is so sweet and so supportive to everyone she comes in contact with, and it’s the perfect time to follow her since she’s just starting out! I can’t wait to see everything she does!

@airedalerd is super funny, super nice, and super empathetic. This girl has so much heart in her. She’s just starting Secret’s of Brimwater, a mystery story that I’m so excited to see unfold. If you aren’t already, go follow; you definitely don’t want to miss anything she posts!

@liliithvatore really funny, stands up for what she believes in, and has a great story going with the vatores! her posts are so pretty and it makes following the story even better. also runs a great storytellers discord which is very helpful and friendly if thats your thing! If you are going to follow her, make sure you read the byf on the right side of her blog!

@carpakoi is honestly someone I look up to a lot. She takes everything that gets thrown her way in stride and stands up for what she believes in. She has great gameplays, great edits, and great storylines. The editing this girl can do? Stunning. Follow her!

@leafvy is a LIFESAVER with her name lists, and is so supportive of people in this community. Also, her edits? Fire. She’s going to start posting the Human Enough challenge soon, so follow her to keep on top of that!

@ounl is honestly just one of my favorite blogs? such a strong person who showers the community with love, makes great edits, makes AMAZING sims, and is just really true to himself which makes me really look up to him.

@cassgoths get it while its hot, who knows when this blog will be wrongfully terminated again 🔪staff🔪 But in all seriousness, they have such great story posts and you can tell they really put love into everything they do.

@roseiio has an amazing style of blog and editing, and has made quite a few challenges (my fave is obvs the reddit one) that bring the community together. also, they react to anon hate in the best ways, and just seem like a really funny person in general?? 10/10 blog

@toskasims-cc hilarious and so nice, I’m really glad we’ve recently begun talking no matter what drama it came from. makes really awesome and unique cc, go check out all they have to offer!

@alexaarr always so helpful whenever i reach out for help with wips! has AWESOME cc and is a genuinely nice person with a great sense of humor!

@glammoose is really kind and has great posts. knows a lot about music and is really fun to talk to. his sims have so much character which makes them incredibly lovable!!! also makes amazing cc! go check it out!

Jen blinked as she stepped out of the tint, her head tilting to the side. ‘What in the world is that?’ Cautiously, she approached the small brown box that had been placed beside her mailbox. She certainly hadn’t ordered anything, she didn’t have the money to, so what could it be? Several thoughts ran through her head, each more gruesome than the last.

What if it’s a bomb?

What is it’s Strychnine?

Oh god, what if it’s glitter?

Jen shuddered at the thought, recalling the time that Jimmy had sent her godmother a glitter bomb one Winter Fest. Even five years later, they were still finding glitter around the living room!

Her green eyes scanned the ground around her, finding a rather long stick that had fallen from one of the many trees. Standing as far back as she could manage, she poked at it – gently at first before giving it a firm hit with the stick.

Nothing happened.

Only slightly convinced that it’s safe, she kneeled beside the box, carefully tugging the tape off of it. Inside was a small digital camera the shade of sapphires. Her face paled, ‘Oh no, what if it was delivered to the wrong place by mistake? I just opened someone’s package… that’s illegal, isn’t it?’

With shaking hands, she tilted the box to inspect the sides. The shipping label read:

Jen Winchester The Empty Plot of Land The Island, Windenburg

Her brow furrowed. ‘This feels like something out of a Plarry Hotter movie… but it IS addressed to me. There’s no return address, either.’ Pulling the camera from the box, she held down the power button until the screen lit up. ‘I wonder how good it works…’ She lifted it up, finding the perfect shot before pressing the shutter.

“Beautiful…” she breathed as her eyes scanned the picture. Normally, pictures only reflect about ten percent of the world’s natural beauty, but this camera seemed to reflect at least twenty. ‘Hey, wait a second, I bet I can make money selling pictures!’

She still felt a bit uneasy about the sudden package, but the thought of earning money from it made her feel a bit better about the situation.

Bzzt, bzzt.

Her phone vibrated in her pocket, but no one has her number, mainly because she doesn’t know anyone. Well, that’s not completely true – she knows the crazy lady that talks to plants, and the scarecrow which still hasn’t returned to his tree, oh and that game-crazy little boy from the library.

A bead of sweat rolled down her cheek. ‘Maybe I should try a bit harder…’ Although she figured it was just someone trying to sell something, she still checked her phone – one unread message from an unknown number.

✉ [Good morning, my dear. I do hope you slept well. I sent you a small gift, I do hope you enjoy it and find some use for it.]

Her brow furrowed as she read the message, then re-read it before reading it for a third time. [‘What?’], was all she could think to reply back. Within just a few moments, another message came through.

✉ [My apologies, this is Caleb Vatore.]

The man from yesterday flashed through her mind, making the tips of her ears heat up as she remembered his beautiful smile. How had he gotten her number? He put his into her phone… had he messaged himself while doing so?

She replied, [’That really wasn’t necessary…’] And then she worried that she sounded ungrateful, so she sent another message quickly. [‘Not that I’m not grateful because I am! It’s just kind of unexpected and it looks expensive… we only just met, I don’t really understand why you would gift me something. Ah, but I’m really happy to have it, thank you!’] She groaned, wanting nothing more than to hide under in her tent and never come out. Did she have to sound like a raging lunatic?

✉ [Haha, you’re quite alright, I didn’t think you were ungrateful. You don’t seem the type. You’re quite welcome!]

✉ [I’m feeling quite hungry. Would you be inclined to join me for breakfast at SimDonalds?]

Her face burned, ‘I-Is this a… a date??’ Before her brain could take control, her hands flew across the onscreen keyboard. [‘I would love to!’] And she immediately regretted it for several reasons. The biggest reason being that she needed to be at work soon and didn’t have the time to spare that it would take to get there, wait for a table, and then wait for the food. The second biggest reason was that she couldn’t wrap her mind around why he wanted to go out with her.

She quickly shook her head. ‘It’s probably not even like that. He just feels sorry for me because of my situation, that’s all…’ Even so, she couldn’t help the twinge of excitement that was boiling up within her.

Jen arrived at the fast-food chain feeling more nervous than she had in a while, her hands clammy as her fingers fiddled with the hem of her jacket. Her eyes scanned the various sims heading toward the restaurant for breakfast, but none of them were who she was looking for. What if this is a prank and he plans to stand her up? He might be nearby laughing at her desperation.

“I do hope you weren’t waiting too long, my dear?”

Her eyes snapped to the side as Caleb came walking up to her, smiling softly.

“Ah, n-no, I just got here…” She cleared her throat, turning her attention to a snail that was slowly inching across the sidewalk. Looking into his eyes made her feel lightheaded – it wasn’t a bad sensation, but with her nerves shot, it made her worry.

“Brilliant. Shall we go inside, then?”

“S-Sure…”

Jen nervously looked at the menu, wondering what she should do.

“Do you know what you would like to order, my dear?” Caleb inquired.

“A-Actually… um…” She bit her lip. ‘Should I tell him that I can’t stay? Will he be angry? He came all this way…’

He frowned, resting his hand on her forearm. She could feel the cold through the fabric and she sucked in a breath. “Tell me what troubles you,”

“Promise you won’t get mad?” She mumbled, suddenly feeling more like a child than the young adult that she is.

Caleb chuckled, a melodic sound that made her heart leap. “I could never be angered at you. I would like for you to feel comfortable talking to me.”

“Right… well…” She kept her eyes on the snail and she briefly wondered if he would move faster if Eye of the Tiger started playing. ‘Stay focused, idiot!’ “You see… I have to go… to work…”

He tilted his head in confusion.

“Like, really soon…”

“Oh,” Realization clicked in his mind and he hid his smile behind his hand. “Tell me, why did you accept my invitation?”

Yeah, why did she accept the invitation? Her body had acted on its own without stopping to consult with her brain. It made no sense. She frowned, “I like… the way I feel when we talk…” ‘Oh god, tell me I did not just say that out loud,’

His hand rested on her chin to force her gaze to his, the corners of his lips twitching upward. “I’m pleased to know that the feeling is quite mutual.”

‘Does that mean…?’

“Now, head on to work. I wouldn’t want you to be late on my account. I promise you, we shall spend more time together in the future.”

As for the characters, dang, they stole my heart too. I know I’m the one who wrote them a certain way, but to me, it feels like they evolved on their own and I just love what they ended up being like? I don’t know how to explain it, but basically, I start out with a thought and then it sort of takes care of itself. Even though it’s still my brain figuring their personality out. Idk. Having all these characters in my head is weird but also exciting. And wait a moment, this is kind of off topic. Oh well.

Also, shoutout to everyone who has ever told me they liked “my” Caleb Vatore. You don't know how much that means to me. Thank you.

the sims 4, but i have rebought the sims 3 but really haven’t played it yet and also i made my dreams come true and bought the mysims pc game because i used to be obsessed with the wii games and now i’m a happy child

i’m a sucker for brindleton bay, but i also love oasis springs, windenburg and san myshuno

6. who is your favourite pre-made family?

this is the hardest question someone has ever asked to me, but i have to say the villareals to honor my gameplay, and i’m a sucker for the goths, penny pizzazz, johnny zest, the vatores, the munches and many others

i have all the packs except for my first pet stuff and i do not regret not having it

May 11

I asked Rahmi to accompany me to Brindleton Bay today. I didn’t want to be alone on a car trip that is more than an hour. I may not be near my due date yet but things can happen. I don’t want to risk it. Plus, it was nice to get to hang out with her again.

“This is a really pretty town, I love the ocean!” Rahmi told me excitedly. It’s the most happy I’ve seen her in a while. She doesn’t say much about it but I know she’s having a rough time right now with her divorce and Thomas trying to take the farm from her.

“I do miss this place sometimes.” I admitted. Henford-on-Bagley is my home now but Brindleton Bay will always hold a special place in my heart. Just like Windenburg did for Mom.

Rahmi decided to explore the town while I went to talk to Dakota.

He was on the phone with Lilith when I arrived. I guess she wants a spell done to keep out Count Vladislaus Straud from the Vatore Mansion. I feel like there’s a story there but I’m not going to pry.

“I’ll see what I can find in my spell book and get back to you.” Dakota told her before hanging up.

He surprised me and maybe even himself by grabbing me, gently, and giving me a huge hug. We haven’t seen each other in a while.

“You look beautiful as always, pregnancy agrees with you.” Dakota told me before releasing me. Then he said something that went straight to my heart. “I have lunch in the kitchen, want to eat?”

“Sorry I didn’t call first.” I said between stuffing my face with chicken sliders.

“Don’t worry about it, Vera.” Dakota assured me. There was no sign of Jillian or Joey, they were both at work. Which was good because I kind of wanted to just talk to Dakota. I had a mission, not that I don’t miss talking to him, but I had a specific reason for seeking him out.

After lunch, we went into the living room.

“Next month is my due date.” I started, looking over at him. “I’m worried about things possibly going wrong.”

Dakota nodded his head and waited for me to continue.

“We hired Annalise back as my doctor. Just in case any supernatural things occur during delivery concerning the baby.” I explained. I saw him react briefly by knitting his eyebrows together but he remained silent, letting me speak. I appreciated it. “But, there’s still James…Lilith will be there, which will be good. Not only she is the baby’s Aunt but she can provide protection.” I added, blowing out a breath. “I was wondering and I know it’s a lot to ask…”

Dakota spoke, picking up my trailing off as his cue to say something. “Of course I’ll help.”

I blinked in surprise, for some reason I didn’t think him agreeing would be that easy but I forgot. I’m dealing with Dakota. I felt tears starting to well up in my eyes and I blinked more to stop them. I felt a huge relief at the idea of having Dakota around to combat James.

“Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to actually be in the room…watching you give birth to another man’s baby.” Dakota told me point blank. I nodded. “But I will be there, outside the room, standing guard. I’ll figure out a protection spell and do some research on anything else that may help.”

“Thank you.” I told him softly.

“I’m always going to have love for you, Vera. Even though I’m pretty sure I’m falling in love with Jillian and the idea of having a future with her makes me happy and hopeful.” Dakota said honestly.

I smiled at him “You’ll always have a special place in my heart too.” It’s true, I love Caleb and I don’t regret choosing him at all. I know he’s the one I’m meant to be with but I do believe sometimes, that a heart can love so much that it can love more than one. “I really am happy for you and Jillian. She’s a great girl and you make each other happy, so consider me one of the Jakota cheerleaders.”

Dakota chuckled at my words and stood up, I looked up at him “I need help.” I told him. I’m used to my couch at home, the couch at the Laws/Gates residence sits lower.

Dakota briefly smirked and I gave him a small glare before he heled out his hands. I grabbed them and for a moment. A brief moment, I thought maybe my life would have been more simple if I had chosen Dakota instead. I would have been happy with him too. I blinked my eyes and the moment passed.

The weird thing is, I think Dakota had that moment of thought too.

I knew this day would be life changing but I had no idea how much so.

I headed to The Vatore Mansion late this afternoon. It took me a bit to prepare myself for what I planned to say.

Naturally, Caleb cut to the chase. What I had planned to say went out the window.

“You have come to a decision?” He asked me, though to me it sounded more like a statement.

“I have.” I said after crossing my arms. I was preparing myself for a fight.

“And?” He asked me. I took in his posture. Never had I see him stand so stiff and proper. Maybe he was preparing himself too.

“It wasn’t an easy choice.” I admitted. It’s true, it wasn’t. I still feel bad about hurting Dakota and I know I’ll miss him, even though we agreed to keep in touch. It won’t be the same.

Caleb nodded and waited for me to continue, much to my surprise.

“I figured out…that while I love Dakota. I’m in love with you.” I admitted softly, uncrossing my arms. I released a breath and it felt like I was finally free somehow.

Caleb was behind me before I realized what he was doing, he softly kissed down my neck and towards my shoulder. I closed my eyes, leaning back against him.

“I am dangerous.” He whispered to me “I have killed.”

My mind went to Ciara, which is not a place my mind likes to go.

“More than once.” He added. It was like he read my mind. He let me go and motioned for me to join him on the couch. “I need to tell you something.”

Caleb seemed nervous, which is not something you see often from him if ever.

“You probably expected me to throw you on the couch and threaten to suck your dry or something.” Caleb said dryly.

“Kind of.” I admitted “Though the idea of you throwing me on this couch…” I trailed off with a raised eyebrow.

“Vera….” Caleb warned, though he briefly had a smirk on his lips “This is important. I have loved someone who is not family twice in my life before you. The first one, she was the one who changed me. I did not realize who she really was until it was too late.” Caleb paused “The second, she was innocent. Good. Different, but good.”

“When I first met her, she was wearing these crazy ice cream cone earrings and sun glasses with a party dress.” Caleb recalled, chuckling briefly. “That caught my attention. It was not for a costume party it was just the way she wanted to dress.”

I nodded though I don’t know if he noticed, he seemed lost in memories.

“We ended up talking for hours that day. She was refreshing. Before that I had made it a point to just hang out with other vampires. While I was on the plasma fruit diet even back then, I did not want to chance hurting someone.” He explained, leaning back into the couch.

I nodded again, showing I was listening. Because I was. I had no idea about any of this. I’ve always known that Caleb knows more about me then I do him. He knew my Mom. I had seen him on and off during my teen years and college years. Also, to be fair. His history is a lot longer than mine. But there’s certain things he keeps to himself.

“After that, we started to hang out. Then we started dating.”

“She was the first person I had dated in a very long time. She trusted me.” He told me before he clenched his jaw shut. I could see regret hit him.

“I did not deserve her trust.” He continued, I could hear the self loathing in his voice “She offered me a drink from her and for some reason, I decided it was a good idea. It was because I wanted to taste her blood so badly. But once I started, I could not stop myself.” Caleb stopped and ran a hand through his hair, which fell right back into place. “A friend of mine at the time had to pry me off her. It was then that I realized what I had done. He took her away because I could not look at what I had done to her.”

I sat there a few moments, thinking over what he had told me. He had killed this woman that he loved. Not on purpose, but it had happened. But somehow, I knew he wouldn’t do it to me.

Call it faith. Call it stupidity. Isn’t love a mixture of both?

I slowly placed my hand on Caleb’s cheek and turned his head towards me, kissing him softly. It explained why he had pushed me away so much. He’s afraid he’s going to repeat his deadly mistake. He was trying to protect both of us.

“Thank you for telling me that.” I told him after climbing into his lap.

Caleb looked at me like he didn’t know what to make of me at first. I thought he might say something, but he remained quiet. He just stared at me.

“I know you’re afraid that might happen again, but it won’t.” I assured him “I believe you’re smart enough to learn from your mistakes. What happened to her was a tragedy.” I told him, while I love him – I can’t sugar coat that for him.

“I killed Ciara.” Caleb reminded me, finally speaking.

I closed my eyes a moment “You thought she had killed me. That’s different.” I reminded him, after opening my eyes to stare him down.

He returned my stare, we sat like that for at least a minute. “If you still want to be with me, I have some conditions.”

I narrowed my eyes at him “Are you freaking serious?”

“Vera….” Caleb started. “We both know I am serious ninety nine percent of the time.”

I huffed, it almost sounded like that was his way of making a joke. “Explain.”

“Number one, I want to court you.” Caleb told me.

I opened my mouth to reply…

He cut me off, though I didn’t mind that much. Now that I think about it, it’s actually pretty sweet that he wants to court me. I didn’t get to find out his other conditions, because he changed the subject by asking me to look at the stars with him.

Even though Forgotten Hollow is unusually dark most of the time, it does have a beauty to it.

We laid on the ground together, looking at the stars and clouds. I’m not sure what the future has in store for us, but I know laying there with him felt right. I felt like I belong next to him.

I ended up getting cold. He told me it was late and sent me off with a goodbye kiss. I didn’t want to leave, but I do have to work tomorrow.

As I was heading to my car, I got a very unexpected phone call…

This day has certainly been filled with the unexpected. I had expected Caleb to fight me tooth and nail when I told him my choice. Instead he told me why he had pushed me away. I can’t wait to see him again, to see what he has in mind for this whole courting thing. I just don’t know how to tell him about the phone call because I don’t even know what my decision is. I just know it could have a huge impact on my future.
