Hello hi, it's me again, I just wanted to dedicate this ask to say I fuckin love the Shaker Sisters and the Mayor :) Also is there a secret boss in that Dark World?

Sal, Pep, and The Mayor. I’m so glad you like them just as much as I do. They were always a blast to write for.

They aren’t gone necessarily for the story, but their darkworld arc is essentially done uwu

And for the Secret Boss! McOven!!

She doesn’t really appear in the normal route, but the weird route, she does get a few pages. I do more doodles of her in my tags.

The secret boss was featured slightly in the Weird Route. She is the broken oven in the QC Diner and her name is McOven. Tbh I'm not planning on doing anything more with her. I love her, but...well I didn't want this comic to go on too long. She's not too important to the plot, she's acts more like a McGuffin than anything *wink*

So there's this idea that some Darkners (especially main and secret bosses) are heavily connected to certain Lightners and UT characters (like Spamton is with MTT and Kris or Queen being a reflection of Noelle's mom etc.)

Do you think this concept could also apply to The Mayor and McOven since they're the bosses of your Dark World? I'm especially wondering if Azzy or Chara would be significant to that maybe

Oh, I like hearing this. I would have to say McOven has a lot more symbolism than the Mayor. But both play a somewhat symbolic role in the narrative.

If you never noticed, in the weird route(the only route McOven shows up in lol), McOven quotes Chara when she is trying to convince them to give up their soul. She says it’s for “the greater good” and “it’s a small price to pay”. I wanted this to mirror Chara‘s own naivety with stealing souls in Undertale, and that even though they saw it as for the greater good, it was still murder. And Chara sees this type of thinking on the receiving end.

The Mayor on the other hand doesn’t serve as much narrative purpose. He’s just a silly little guy and I love him. But he also does represent a sense of naivety. Like the other bosses in Deltarune, he is forgiven (or at least somewhat forgiven) by the cast and especially Azzy. Chara hates that and the fallout of their hatred for his forgiveness is shown.

I’m sure you can find some more thematic themes if you look hard enough though ;)

why do i imagine McOven sounds EXACTLY like Jack O Chica in UCN?

Ohhh! I can totally see that! Jack-O-Chica’s voice has an extremely scratchy tone. McOven may be a little easier to hear but heck yes I think it fits so well

Have the cast of the chara timeline battled the secret bosses?

Yes. McOven the Oven is the secret Boss within my AU. She makes an appearance in the Weird Route… but I decided against drawing her in a regular secret boss fight due to the amount of work I would have to do.

The story of the comic would have still stayed the same, whether the cast battled her or not.

I like her though 💕

What do you think would happen if McOven actually managed to get the soul? Do we just get a new, far more monstrous vessel?

McOven would probably like to believe that, but I think if she ever did manage to obtain the soul her fate would be the same either way. A human's determination is not for the faint of heart.

Couldn't help but notice that Kris wasn't with them. Did something happen to them? Also fantastic job! That was great. Was that attack like their own version of snowgrave?

Glad you liked it! Horror is fun to draw at times :> ❤️ and yeah, Chara used the knife to 999 McOven. Clean sweep. Kris is passed out on the other cart of the train. It may be a little hard to see on first glance, now that I think about it, but kris is there.

Yes her name is McOven… I never told you guys I’m good at naming things okay? (But hey! Her name is very similar to “MacGuffin”, which suits her, as she’s the one who makes the QC Diner close early in my AU plot.)

Been wanting to do this Secret Boss format made by @m-chromatic for a while. It seemed too fun not to!

I’ve been thinking about making a secret boss for my Darkworld for a long time, but haven’t gotten around to it till recently. I wanted the boss to be huge and imposing, but still existential- to add onto the theme of “loosing control and sanity” present in the secret bosses.

And I figured that the most imposing thing in a Family Friendly diner…. would be a Broken Oven. It’s unpredictable, dangerous and worst of all, it’s going to be thrown out. -Now ain’t that a fun existential situation for a character.

I’d imagine she’d be told by the “mysterious someone” and go mad with fear.

I’m not even done designing her, but this is what i have to show. I’m thinking of calling her Marcroven or The Madder Kilm, but I would love to hear some suggestions.
