btw did you guys see how the hannah arendt prize committee tried to revoke masha gessen's prize after gessen, a jewish journalist, wrote an essay about how zionists and zionist-sympathizing gentiles, particularly in germany, wield accusations of antisemitism to shut down anti-zionist jews... an essay in which they specifically quoted hannah arendt several times
a thing I can't help but think about is how masha recognized vee almost immediately. like, they'd JUST started interacting
within the first few words vee said and the first few things she did, masha immediately started thinking "huh, she seems awfully familiar."
vee looks nothing like luz with her chosen human look. they're completely different.
and just from her kicking down the door with a little battle cry, going huah??? and how she talked in that little bit, they're already going "Have I met this person?"
really makes me think they really bonded at camp. only explanation for how immediate that recognition was and how uniquely vee it was.
they really, really know her. and considering how much vee wanted to belong somewhere?
I can only imagine how much that must mean to her.
Luz and Masha go into the Timepools to finally find answers to Masha's historical questions. They're careful, and Luz wears a cloaking stone to protect her identity, but they get separated. :| Luckily, Luz runs into Evelyn and Flapjack, who see her cloaking stone and befriend her.
honestly i think the whole double trouble controversy could have been avoided if 1) they had shown more shapeshifters with different genders; or 2) if they had etherians who were also non-binary or were under the nb spectrum.
i'm mostly over Representation In Fiction Feelings but i DO still get kind of emotional about raine having pre-T and post-T voice actors. not even in a seeing myself represented type way (i am not on T and don't currently plan to be), but just bc. it's such a lovely reflection of the space we live in. a decade ago it was revolutionary for kids to see same-gender parents on TV and go "oh, some kids have two moms," and now in a very similar way kids get to grow up learning that some people have high-pitched voices in adolescence and low-pitched ones when they get older. parents explaining "your older cousin might sound a bit different when they come for thanksgiving this year" and a kid just going "oh, like raine!!" that..... that Does get me. wah.
Would Camila pick up on *something* going on between Amity and Luz in your AU? Where she’d end up like hmm maybe Hunter and Luz aren’t as together as I thought 🤔
i can't decide if it's funnier if camila's gaydar is really good or really bad. both "🤨🤨🤨" and "i'm glad luz has such good friends :)" are appealing in different ways.
either way, i think the funniest reaction to her cottoning on to there being Something between luz and amity would be less "hm, maybe luz and hunter AREN'T together" and more "hm. maybe..... monogamy..... doesn't exist here."
