MY WEEK WITH MARILYN LA SCREENING
y/n and tom were attending a screening of my week with marilyn in secret. she really wanted to see the reactions of a certain part of the film. she was told by the staff that the theater was full which made her nervous and happy.
from the side, she and tom watched as the audience payed close attention to the last few minutes. a picture of marilyn faded out as lana del rey’s say yes to heaven played.
a clip of y/n in holding a newborn baby was shown then it showed tom carrying the baby. “during summer last year, i became a mom. that’s when i got the idea for this film. i want my daughter to know what an amazing woman marilyn was.”
y/n could hear several gasps and even some sobs coming from the audience.
“i named her daisy lorelai blyth.” some people clapped, others gasped when they realized where the name lorelai came from.
y/n turned her attention to tom and kissed him. “thank you for being with me and daisy.”
“you’re my girls.”

Speaking of the Fantastic Four, should Sue Storm be a scientist? Both movie versions have her doing more-or-less the same research as Reed. But as I understand it, that's not the origin of the character, and "promoting" her didn't actually help her character in either movie. Couldn't she be a perfectly intelligent and capable woman who just doesn't have a science background?
That's a good question.
Tumblr media
I think it would be genuinely a little difficult to go with the original character arc where Sue Storm is a fashionista, pinup model, and actress turned housewife - Marilyn Monroe and Jackie, to borrow the Mad Men analogy. Yes, she could still be an intelligent and capable woman as a model/actress/housewife, but it would be very noticeable that the one woman in the group is being restricted to those social roles for women deemed acceptable circa 1961 - unless they specifically go with Sue's character arc being about women's liberation.
Rather, I think the updated version of her background (which also has been in the comics for a long time) in which Sue is also a scientist, but from a contrasting field to Reed's (generally a life science or social science as opposed to Reed's focus on physics and engineering) works better. Not only does it give her something to do as part of a team of explorers - playing something of McCoy/Uhura role to Reed's Spock/Kirk mix - but it would also explain why she would have been involved in the launch project in the first place.
I also think you can combine the two: there's no reason why Sue Storm couldn't have worked as a model and actress to support herself in college, and I think there's a lot you can do in a kind of Hidden Figures-meets-For All Mankind way to show Sue as a scientist who was trying to become one of the first women astronauts, but who had to do an end-run around NASA's New Frontier-era male chauvinism in order to achieve her dreams.

Is it me or dose all the the goddesses from LO clothes look bad on them (except for Pink RS, who is the only one who has nice and cute girly clothes.
All the goddesses dress like what will Kim K and the other celebrities would wear and it looks bad on them (except for Aphrodite’s baby doll dress and Daphne’s dating dress or Minthe just slaying away her outfits) and Pink RS of course is a Mary Sue and needs to wear cute clothes to make her look stand out. I am going to give some the style of my goddesses to make them look like what they represent and not butch of color Kim K wanna be clones. Here we go!
Amphitrite: some cute and sexy swimsuits or a beautiful mermaid tail dress, because she is the Queen and goddess of sea, after all and she will be covered in pearls, starfishes, bubbles and seashells.
Aphrodite: her outfits are going be look like Jessica Rabbit, Holli Would, Marilyn Monroe and Victoria's Secret Angels, because she is the goddess of beauty of course and her themes are going to be pink, with some hearts, pearls and roses.
Artemis: her look is going to be more of a wild tomboy look and it’s going to make her look like the girl version of Peter Pan and Robin Hood and not dress like she is going to hang out with her girlfriends at yoga. Her theme is going to be green for hunt and blue for the moon.
Athena: will dress mostly like a school girl or teacher, but she has some very cool and bada$$ clothes that will give her some wonder woman vibes.
Calliope: I think she will look cute in a Ballerina Outfits.
Demeter: will have a very pretty traditional toga that shows her lovely chest and she can wear a cute farm girl outfit or a housewife, with corn and poppies in her golden hair.
Daphne: I would give a ballerina tree style look or give her some cute spring related dresses or Lana Del Rey style look.
Echo: I will give her the ballerina look.
Eos: she would wear super sexy clothes to get all the sexy young men attention.
Eris: I will give the sexy black dress with gold that will give her the bad girl It girl look and not the some blond chicken thing.
Hebe: I will give her some cute and pretty youthful dresses or a Melanie Martinez outfits, because she is the goddess of youth and give her color theme orange, because orange means youth.
Hecate: I will give her the super cute and pretty magical girl outfits and sometimes a witch.
Hera: she will dress more like a bride or wear traditional brides dresses from all over the world, because she is the goddess of marriage.
Hestia: I would make her look more of a comic book superhero look with fire theme and she would dress in a 90’s work out outfit for health and a housewife look, when she is at home.
Leto: I will give her a pure white dress.
Leuce: I will give her the sea nymph look with pearls.
Persephone: I will give her the super cute baby doll dresses and other spring related dresses and a sexy black dress, that will give her the it girl.
Polymnia: I will give her the ballerina version of Phantom from The Phantom of the Opera.
Psyche: I will give her the pretty dresses with butterflies themed that will make her look like a butterfly/fairy princess and not RS just googled hot Cheeto girl clothes stereotype with that dumb Micky Mouse hair.
Selene: she would wear the super cute and girly nightgown that will give her the Wendy Darling look to compare to Artemis’ Peter Pan look.
Rhea: she will dress more like a queen and a mother.
Thetis: I will give her the cute girly dresses that will give her bubbly personality.
The Fates looks like Velma’s daughters and the furies look like color versions of Medusa or Medusa’s daughters. I will give mine a new look.
The fate sisters
Atropos: will wear a sexy and dark gothic dresses with a black gogo boots, because she is the oldest.
Lachesis: let’s get rid off the Velma look and replace it with a beautiful Lacey gothic corsets and some gothic themed clothes.
Clotho: she would wear a cute gothic version of Melanie Martinez or a super cute gothic schoolgirl uniform, because she is the youngest sister.
The Furies sisters
Note: each Furies gets a snake in her hair to represent her personality. The normal snake is Alecto, the scary snake is Tisiphone and cute snake is Megaera.
Alecto: will wear a red theme color, sexy and bada$$ clothes.
Tisiphone: would mostly wear pants and shorts and rarely wears skirt and she would wear something more bloody nightmare.
Megaera: she would wear cute and girly dresses with ruffles and some bows.
What do you guys think?

While I Kiss The Sky
words by @tari-sue, art by LFB72    Summary:  One night of drunken freedom in Las Vegas leads two men from very different backgrounds into a strange year of pretending to be in love in front of the world, and pretending not to like each other to themselves, their friends, and families. A tale in which you can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need. Also, Arthur is definitely not Elvis, Merlin is definitely not Marilyn Monroe, and they are both probably clotpoles. Click HERE for the story and HERE for the art!

Random question, but what's your favorite FHS characters (either from the OG show or your rewrite/AU)?
In the original Freddy, Fred, Bonnie, and Bon immediately caught my attention. I saw Freddy and insanely went 'just like me fr', Fred was duel wielding that fun to watch with underlying tragedy, Bonnie was incredibly fun, I loved how fun he was and how snarky he could be super early on. Some of bons lines, a couple of his songs, just really struck my head and made me go wow! I can work with this! So I did, and for those four I feel like I've kept them relatively the same as their OG counterparts? I dunno, I wouldn't be able to tell from here on the inside, but they all have their roots in the original, pieces I took, pieces i rejected, things i twisted and amplified. Its fun! If you want me to talk about a specific character, I reeeeeeally like how we changed up Golden. Neither of us particularly like canon Golden, so we changed them up. Here is a summary of what I'll be talking about below the cut lmao.
Tumblr media
They are still rich, they are not the insane 1% drinking out of gold chalices or whatever, but they are very well off, they are super comfortable. Could have had the opportunity to go to a private school of choice types. Anyways uhhh. Golden, their full name is Golden Belmonte, we gave them nonbinary they/them swag, and then we gave them some more interests and a different family background!! they are Ecuadorian, and the bear they are reflects that.
Tumblr media
They are an Andes bear, also known as a spectacles bear or oso de anteojos! It looked like (to me) the spectacles bear had a star shaped pattern on its chest, so I gave Golden a star shaped birth mark. Anyways, this bear is very small. And in comparison to what you normally picture a bear as, they are t i n y, they are smaller than a person (while down on all four paws, they are below the average humans waist.) And with much softer hair as well. Golden reflects both these qualities. They have soft hair and have a different, much rounder and softer build in contrast to all the other bears. Fred/dy, Toddy, Deuz, and Fede all have much bigger, broader, square-er builds.
Tumblr media
^ for facial comparison between all the bears. Please ignore how i forgot Golden's eyebrows. (yeah we completely changed Fede, sue me) Visually, we changed Golden's expression range and hairstyle. The hair re-do was done by me, inspired by 50s/60s women hairstyles. I was particularly inspired by Marilyn Monroe, purely visually, and in reference to that, Golden sometimes paints a little Monroe beauty mark on themselves. I also made their hair curly, and kept that odd little asymmetrical/ side-swept (?) thing the original has going on. My best friend Pia changed up their expression range, making them much less expressive. Very little facial expressions, but that does but mean emotionless! Their vocal tone is the same, very little emotion conveyed. Very flat, very monotone, all that. Golden certainly has the ability to push out and present tone and expression, but that would take effort, they just naturally don't. They also have eye-bags naturally, and always have their head tilted to the side Golden is in the student council, very efficient, on top of all their work, lends a hand to anyone who asks, they're academically smart, but bad at social queues. Autism swag.
Tumblr media
Genuinely though, they're autistic. They're quite blunt and literal either don't make eye-contact at all or stare directly into your eyes without breaking the hold, they stim by: > bobbing on their tippy-toes, > holding their arms completely parallel to their sides clench their fists then fan out their hand then repeat the motion, > applying pressure to themselves by stepping on their own feet and clasping their hands together or, again, clenching their fists, > doing a sort of 'banging' motion with their arms, as if you're hitting something with your fists, idk how else to describe it lol they also fidget mindlessly with things like drawstrings of a sweater and hold their arms in the t-rex position by default.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways their special interest is architecture, they love it. They also have a special interest on Pokemon, and they enjoying singing and dancing. Their favorite Pokemon is Mimikyu. They are friends with Spring, and got them both matching sweaters. Springs was Pikachu and their own was Mimikyu. They're also open to being social and making friends, especially if they can talk with people about their interests. Here's a shitty concept comic about it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Their family life. Woooooo! It's not a straight forward issue. Lol. Okay so, their family is very close knit, at least in concept. They all share ownership of a company while running different subsections as individuals. Their whole company is a sort of culture center. Some family members sell traditional Ecuadorian, Venezuelan, and Colombian clothing. Others sell food, sweets, ingredients, or teach history, culture and customs. Joy and Golden learned how to sing and dance from this! They started dancing with from learning traditional dances and songs, doing duets and partnered dancing with each other since childhood. Yeah. So, family is pretty rich and well off cause it's multiple people under the same company all accumulating and sharing wealth, always there for each-other n such. There's probably more about this i missed, but I'll reblog this and add more if its something significant. ANYWAYS. Thanks for the ask, and I could totally talk about more characters we changed and added intent to but this is long enough as is. I hope this was a satisfactory and understandable response, sorry if its messy as hell. It's cause id how to explain anything ever lol THANKS AGAIN FOR THE ASK!!!!!!!!

I just want to understand like why it was able to be thrown out but not in the UK? Also do you think this seems like the judge is more pro jd? or is this normal for American defamation suits? I understand these are a lot of questions so if you don’t want to answer them that’s fine too!
my guess as to the deuters text is that deuters testified in the UK trial so the message could be introduced, and/or the UK has different hearsay laws. they definitely have different defamation/libel laws so it's possible. i truly know nothing about the specifics of UK evidence codes.
hard to say w/r/t the judicial officer. they already ruled on AH's behalf that she's entitled to argue that she's protected by anti-SLAPP laws (the first amendment thing). however, they also allowed this case to become a giant media circus, something that only benefits depp, so who knows!
i've never really seen anything like this before. it's honestly chilling in a way that i think the coverage of this lawsuit is really missing. it is absolutely designed to chill a domestic violence victim's freedom of speech.
johnny depp is SUING a woman, causing her to incur huge amounts of public embarrassment, likely negatively impacting her career, and costing her millions of dollars in legal fees, because she described herself as a victim of domestic violence. she didn't name depp as the abuser in her article. and marilyn manson (depp's friend) is now doing the same to evan rachel wood. it's a form of abuse, in my opinion. what depp, and many of his supporters, clearly want is for a victim of domestic violence to not be able to talk about their experiences unless the abuse culminated in a criminal conviction. this position absolutely 1000000000000% benefits the abuser. because it is HARD to get a criminal conviction for domestic violence.
and listen, i'm all for bail reform, criminal justice reform, restorative justice practices, etc. i'm not saying 'lock everybody accused of DV in jail'. what i am saying is that i have personally observed the PREVALENT attitude that domestic violence is an interpersonal dispute between two toxic people better left to the family courts in the hallways of police departments and DA's offices in a state with some of the most expansive and protective DV laws in the country. and this attitude leaves victims *very* unprotected.
to couple the extraordinary difficulty for even the most cooperative and proactive victim in getting a conviction for domestic violence against their abuser though the criminal justice system, with the position of the depp/manson stans' of basically 'if i'm not criminally convicted of domestic violence then i'm innocent and i can sue my victims in civil court until they're financially and psychologically destroyed'... the only possible outcome that victims remain too terrified to ever speak out against their abusers. it's, quite simply, chilling.

So bit of a vague question , but I’d be interested in how you feel about “the world outside your window” with marvel. Ofc it was started a lot more in line with the current happenings of the world specifically New York but these days due to a few reasons , such as the sliding timescale, to retain characters they’ve made things like the Sian Cong war, and then there’s fictional characters as presidents, street level becomes cosmic level, many events, more and more fantastical city, etc. not that it’s an issue on my end, esp since I’ve never had a connection to New York (different big city where no superheroes live :( ) so it’s always been a degree of speeratjon, but I’d be curious how you feel about it / what the heart of “outside your window” is that must be kept but other things don’t have to. Thank you!
Tumblr media
The "World Outside Your Window" as a concept/slogan has always been a tricky thing, because it was sort of retrofitted onto the Marvel Universe from Jim Shooter's "New Universe" (an experimental brand-new comics universe which was supposed to have mirrored our universe exactly prior to the "White Event" that gave some people super-powers; the "New Universe" was also distinctive for not having a sliding timescale and being set in real time, such that the events of each comic were supposed to happen a month apart, and so forth).
The Marvel Universe had more of a complicated relationship with reality: the Fantastic Four would mention Beatlemania, but in the Marvel Universe it was the FF who was getting mobbed by young women at JFK; Sue Storm would mention Marilyn Monroe, but in the Marvel Universe it was Sue doing the famous photoshoot on a red velvet backdrop. On the other hand, there was also the original fiction that Marvel Comics existed in the Marvel Universe, with Stan and Jack making cameos that made it clear that they were working on (non-fiction) comics about America's biggest celebrities at the merry Marvel Bullpen.
It also mattered when you were talking about the Marvel Universe; the sliding timescale evolved gradually in the late 70s/early 80s and Marvel was a lot more specific about its real world references before it set in: most older men were WWII veterans, Charles Xavier fought in Korea, Tony Stark became Iron Man in a very definite Vietnam, real U.S presidents made cameos in Marvel comics and were elected (or not) in real time (people forget that the original Days of Future Past was themed around the election of Ronald Reagan; Chris Claremont pulled no punches), and characters were given definite birthdates and canon ages.
Tumblr media
(That's right; Jean Grey is old enough to collect Social Security, although the Social Security Administration might raise a fuss about how to count missed payments when she was dead.)
But Marvel jettisoned that cultural specificity in the 80s in favor of the sliding timescale - and I think you can't have both a sliding timescale and "the world outside your window" because characters don't age and (confusingly) cultural change happens in the background without explanation. It's one of the reasons why Marvel has given Chip Zdarsky the creative freedom to do Spider-Man: Life Story (and then let Mark Russell steal the same idea for the FF).

To The Film Industry in Crisis - Frank O'Hara
Not you, lean quarterlies and swarthy periodicals with your studious incursions toward the pomposity of ants, nor you, experimental theatre in which Emotive Fruition is wedding Poetic Insight perpetually, nor you, promenading Grand Opera, obvious as an ear (though you are close to my heart), but you, Motion Picture Industry, it’s you I love!   In times of crisis, we must all decide again and again whom we love. And give credit where it’s due: not to my starched nurse, who taught me how to be bad and not bad rather than good (and has lately availed herself of this information), not to the Catholic Church which is at best an oversolemn introduction to cosmic entertainment, not to the American Legion, which hates everybody, but to you, glorious Silver Screen, tragic Technicolor, amorous Cinemascope, stretching Vistavision and startling Stereophonic Sound, with all your heavenly dimensions and reverberations and iconoclasms! To Richard Barthelmess as the 'tol’able’ boy barefoot and in pants, Jeanette MacDonald of the flaming hair and lips and long, long neck, Sue Carroll as she sits for eternity on the damaged fender of a car and smiles, Ginger Rogers with her pageboy bob like a sausage on her shuffling shoulders, peach-melba-voiced Fred Astaire of the feet, Eric von Stroheim, the seducer of mountain-climbers’ gasping spouses, the Tarzans, each and every one of you (I cannot bring myself to prefer Johnny Weissmuller to Lex Barker, I cannot!), Mae West in a furry sled, her bordello radiance and bland remarks, Rudolph Valentino of the moon, its crushing passions, and moonlike, too, the gentle Norma Shearer, Miriam Hopkins dropping her champagne glass off Joel McCrea’s yacht, and crying into the dappled sea, Clark Gable rescuing Gene Tierney from Russia and Allan Jones rescuing Kitty Carlisle from Harpo Marx, Cornel Wilde coughing blood on the piano keys while Merle Oberon berates, Marilyn Monroe in her little spike heels reeling through Niagara Falls, Joseph Cotten puzzling and Orson Welles puzzled and Dolores del Rio eating orchids for lunch and breaking mirrors, Gloria Swanson reclining, and Jean Harlow reclining and wiggling, and Alice Faye reclining and wiggling and singing, Myrna Loy being calm and wise, William Powell in his stunning urbanity, Elizabeth Taylor blossoming, yes, to you and to all you others, the great, the near-great, the featured, the extras who pass quickly and return in dreams saying your one or two lines, my love! Long may you illumine space with your marvellous appearances, delays and enunciations, and may the money of the world glitteringly cover you as you rest after a long day under the kleig lights with your faces in packs for our edification, the way the clouds come often at night but the heavens operate on the star system. It is a divine precedent you perpetuate! Roll on, reels of celluloid, as the great earth rolls on!

Standalone Book Recommendations
the following books do not have *direct* sequels and are not part of long-standing series. ie. they can be read on their own without having to commit to reading multiple sequels or prequels.
Fingersmith by Sarah Waters. In 1860s London, orphan Sue Trinder, daughter of a murderess, is raised by the tough but kindly Mrs. Sucksby and her adoptive family of thieves. When a con man known as the Gentleman offers Sue the chance of a lifetime to change her fortune forever, she takes it, even if it means posing as a lady’s maid and tricking an innocent young heiress, Maud, into a life of imprisonment in an asylum. However, Maud, her eccentric bibliophile uncle, and their lonely estate of Briar are not quite what they seem, and Sue quickly finds herself in over her head, battling between her pragmatism and her growing feelings for her target.
Blonde by Joyce Carol Oates. Dreamy and romantic young Norma Jeane Baker dreams of true love and a life on the silver screen, much like her erratic mother Gladys. After Gladys is institutionalized in a psychiatric hospital, Norma Jeane is shuffled from orphanage to foster home and quickly taught that life is not a fairy tale, and even beautiful and kind princesses rarely get their just rewards. After marrying at age 16 to avoid returning to the orphanage, Norma Jeane begins work as a model while her husband serves overseas in World War II, and resolves to make a star of herself. The path she takes will catapult her from one doomed romance to another, nearly crush her soul, and make her a worldwide sensation- not as herself, but as bottle blonde flirt Marilyn Monroe.
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. Clever young socialite Noemi wants nothing more than to pursue a university education and break a few hearts while she’s at it. When her father asks her to pay a visit to her cousin, who has married into a reclusive family of Englishmen and begun to send mysterious, alarming letters begging for help, Noemi reluctantly agrees. At High Place she finds that her cousin’s in-laws are more than just high-class snobs; their very house itself seems to be imparting sinister messages in her dreams, and her cousin is unrecognizable. Determined to get to the bottom of this mystery, Noemi resolves to discover the secrets of High Place, but learns that High Place is just as interested in dissecting her as she is it.
On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong. Raised by his scarred and often violent mother and his mentally ill grandmother, Little Dog begins to recount his childhood in Connecticut and unpack the trauma inflicted on his family by the war in Vietnam and their subsequent flight to America. As he ages into a young man, Little Dog begins a romance with his best friend Trevor, and begins to understand the snare of addiction, sexuality, and masculinity that has both of them in its grips.
Sexing the Cherry by Jeanette Winterson. A surreal tale of magical realism in 17th century London, Sexing the Cherry contains many stories within the frame story, which is that of a massive woman accompanied by dogs, and her adoptive son Jordan, taken from the river as an infant. Dog Woman and Jordan journey through many fairy tales, including that of the Twelve Dancing Princesses, who wish to rewrite their myth.
The Corinthian by Georgette Heyer. Faced with the prospect of a loveless marriage, Sir Richard Wyndham goes out for one last night of drunken revelry. Along the way he meets Penelope Creed, who is also fleeing an arranged match of her own. The two conspire to get Penelope back to her countryside village, where she plans to elope with her childhood sweetheart. Penelope poses as Richard’s young cousin, but their plot is complicated by thieves, murder, and an overturned stagecoach.
Here Lies Arthur by Philip Reeve. Gwyna is nothing and no one- a serf, a slave, an orphan. By sheer chance she is brought into the service of the bard Myrddin, who travels alongside the young warlord  Arthur, who hopes to unite Britain under his reign. From Myrddin, Gwyn learns they can be whatever they choose to be- even if that means shedding identities the way a snake sheds its skin. Along the way, he forges his own destiny- as a wizard’s apprentice, a page boy, a queen’s handmaiden, and finally, the one who will make Arthur the man into Arthur the legend.
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Richard Mayhew is new to London, but already worn out by his shallow life in finance. One fateful night, he breaks dinner plans to come to the aid of an injured homeless girl. For this act of kindness, he is consigned to Neverwhere, an alternate reality where dangers lurk down every darkened alley, and myths and goddesses walk the streets of a city trapped in every time and place at once. Richard must decide whether he wishes to return to his normal existence, or make an uncertain home for himself among the exiles and misfits of Neverwhere- if he can survive that long.
