Never Have I Ever Wrecked My Future (4x04): Subtle Jealousy

You can't miss those changes in their facial expressions when each saw the other with someone else.

I must say Ben's masking his jealousy just a teeny bit better than Devi is here, but he's had more practice burying his feelings over the years (remember Samberg's "Ben's used to guarding his sadness the same way I guard my Emmy award, by burying it deep"?).

Some of y'all give Margot way too much credit. Yes, she got Ben to respect her and to value art (and art helped him cope with his stress), and to not worry so much about his grades. But I honestly feel like she was only able to do it because he had already grown quite a bit by the time she met him. He was already more open to respecting other people's intelligence thanks to Fabiola and Paxton, and he was already a little more relaxed because of his conversation with Paxton, and most importantly, his conversation with his dad. Margot isn't some super girl who got Ben to calm down in a way that no other girl could achieve. And she also wasn't the first non-Devi person to get him to respect her intelligence.

Also, for the people who claim that Devi was more vulnerable with Paxton than she was with Ben - Oh like the time she moved into Paxton's house after she had that huge argument with her mother in season 1? Oh wait, that's not what happened, is it? Devi almost always tried her best to downplay her emotions with Paxton. For example, as soon as she says that she feels like everyone in her life is done with her, she asks him to forget she said that, and that it was weird. And his response is to kiss her. How is that a sign of great emotional intelligence? I think Paxton had some really wise moments, but I honestly don't think he's so much more mature than Ben or Devi (as some people claim). They had their fair share of wise moments too. And all three of them had their own flaws. Paxton is just less obviously off-putting than Ben and Devi. I mean I'm not put off by them, but I'm talking about the people who might dislike their "mean" or "crazy" sides.

There’s something to be said about how Margot was introduced as Ben’s love interest and then got the opportunity to evolve past that and into Devi’s friend, and how Aneesa was introduced as her own character and became Devi’s friend, only to devolve into a single step up from a background character when she was no longer a love interest for the main characters. A rant for another day perhaps.

The Disability Library

I love books, I love literature, and I love this blog, but it's only been recently that I've really been given the option to explore disabled literature, and I hate that. When I was a kid, all I wanted was to be able to read about characters like me, and now as an adult, all I want is to be able to read a book that takes us seriously.

And so, friends, Romans, countrymen, I present, a special disability and chronic illness booklist, compiled by myself and through the contributions of wonderful members from this site!

This is just an appreciation post for all the different ways people can enthusiastically consume the same TV series/book/film. Over the course of my time as a fan of Never Have I Ever, I've just really, really enjoyed watching different people be passionate about different things on the show. I've seen someone analyse the acting in a really in-depth way, I've seen someone come up with Taylor Swift songs they would associate with the show, I've seen someone write a great thematic analysis of the love triangle (Paxton/Mohan/Dream/Past and Ben/Nalini/Reality/Present), I've seen awesome fan fictions, and I've seen someone give a very detailed perspective on the style of a character. It just delights me to see so many people be enthusiastic about the same show in so many different ways. I love it when people are really passionate about something!

Ramo While the show had its strong sides (up til like mid- season 1 and lbr, the main strong side is murat in various suits lmao, mainly black), s2 is not great and the finale is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE Spartacus I dropped the show after s1 because the actor they replaced Andy Whitfield (may God rest his soul) with, didn't fit the type at all and i couldn't continue. Andy set the bar too high. I have nothing against the actor tho, that's just not his role

Arrow This show is simply stupid for me as a disabled person specifically, because it didn't have the accurate representation of disabled ppl, or at least somewhat BELIVABLE representation. And i'm referring to Felicity gettng paralyzed from the waist down (for like what, 2 episodes?) arch. IT JUST DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT. Even in the show that's kind of scifi-ish. Also, Stephen Amell deserved better. The only character i really liked was Thea, and i dropped it and i don't regret it

Raised by wolves Marcus's not another 'Ragnar'. i actually think Travis Fimmel did a pretty good job, and i think he's a very solid and belivable actor. just watch Dreamland with him and Margot(Robbie). it's worth it. trust me. It's an excelent drama. And Travis can be even better when he truly tries. Also, there could be so much more to the show so fuck HBO for cancelling it Once upon a time s7 was absolutely unnecessary and s6 had the perfect wrap up for the show
