Ignorance of each other is what has made unity impossible in the past. Therefore we need enlightenment. We need more light about each other. Light creates understanding, understanding creates love, love creates patience, and patience creates unity. Once we have more knowledge (light) about each other, we will stop condemning each other and a United front will be brought about. https://malcolmx.gumroad.com/l/MalcolmX

🌼 Had the BEST #MalcolmXDay ever celebrating Oakstop! Met so many powerful #blackwomen, #artists, and #curators. Had some POWERFUL conversations about protecting black women and #community. WHEW! Being around #women who love themselves is just different. Expansive conversation is what it’s all about #selflove
One woman told me my art is such a reflection of who I am! I’m not crying, you’re crying! 🥲 lol!
The day was also complete with 3 separate party rooms, food and wine!
Cheers to @oakstop 🤌🏽🥂

OAKSTOP BOUGHT A BUILDING!
Coworking and event space company Oakstop has purchased its flagship office building in downtown Oakland at 1721 Broadway in partnership with San Francisco cultural nonprofit Community Arts Stabilization Trust (@castsf). The sale closed April 11.
Oakstop began as a 4,000-square-foot tenant there in 2014 and gradually expanded to occupy the entire building in the last year, founder and CEO Trevor Parham said Tuesday. The company provides work, event and gallery space to entrepreneurs with a particular focus on communities of color.
“We’ve always viewed the space as a resource for the whole community with a specific focus on prioritizing the needs of the Black community,” said Trevor Parham, founder and CEO of Oakstop. “Black-owned real estate represents an even greater resource and catalyzes even more possibilities for creating long term social and economic impact for the whole community.”

Once you change your philosophy, you change your thought pattern. Once you change your thought pattern, you change your attitude. Once you change your attitude, it changes your behavior pattern and then you go on into some action. As long as you gotta sit-down philosophy, you’ll have a sit-down thought pattern, and as long as you think that old sit-down thought you’ll be in some kind of sit-down action. https://malcolmx.gumroad.com/l/MalcolmX

Today I’m honouring the life and legacy of El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz - also known as Malcolm X - on what would have been his 96th birthday. His light is a constant source of inspiration for me - as a human rights activist, Black leader, spiritual teacher, and arguably one of the greatest orators of our time.
Today, his legacy continues to influence multiple generations of intellectuals, writers, activists and leaders. “I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it is for or against. I'm a human being, first and foremost, and as such I'm for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole.”
