NORSE MYTH IS REALLY COOL about half of it is metaphors and shit but like what half is and what half isn’t really depends on the storyteller, but that’s what makes it, like, fun to me

like the whole ragnarok cycle in its entirety (depending on interpretation) is basically the story of man vs nature and how no matter how much man fucks up nature nature will always reclaim the earth and man will have to start over -- the aesir represented the masculine/civilization/order while the jotnar represented the feminine/nature/chaos, when ragnarok destroyed the earth the jotnar reclaimed it, basically, and then the cycle started over again.

i’m like. completely off topic now But I Just Think This Stuff Is Neat.

(also if you come at it from the perspective of loki being jotun and therefor not fitting the mold of the aesir who looked down on more feminine things -- and then what they did to his kids -- it’s really not hard to see why he’d wanna fight against that and “betray” them in the end, like. he basically stuck to his culture and they told him he was a bad person for it, more or less.)
