LameLev posted a Rouge wip they wanted others to color

So on GIMP for a few hours I did this

Early WIP, showing my layer setup

Here's how it works;

Highlights (Reg layer A): Pure white highlights, 100% opacity

Overlay: For mild tints, I also use it for the skin SSS. 44.1% opacity

Reg Layer B (not in WIP): For more direct coloring for tints. Needed to for chest plate given how saturated pink is, 100% opacity

Suit (Exclusion, not in WIP): To lighten the black areas multiply can't handle, but not ruin multiplied layers below. I think it's 65% for opacity

Multiply: since this is BW, I can color over and not worry of ruining black lineart. I used separate layers for base color, and 2 more shades per part (skin, pink, fur, gloves...)

Outlines are pretty smeary, so I had to smudge lasso tool selected edges when coloring (you can see bad edges for colors in WIP here before I did that

Since I have not posted much in recent times, have this background I made in GIMP after learning i could use Photoshop brushes in the program! It's free to use, none of the stuff was necessarily made by me I just used images i had and combined them myself lol. Maybe add a stroke around the two to separate them from the bg more but for now it's fine! please give credit if you use for anything!

Also credit to the wonderful artists of the Sonic Team who made the actual art I used here (I believe this is a Yuji Uekawa piece!)
