more Sunny BitterSweet 16 shit...
this whole Four Walls Whiskey train of thought started cuz I was talking to my best friend last night about how I believe Dennis coming out/getting with Mac (so the gay shit of S16.. the Sweet) is low-key dependent on uh... Frank not being around anymore in some capacity (the depressing shit of S16.. the Bitter) ... cuz listen, I knew someone who Dennis reminds me of... like a lot.
The person I’m talkin about was my cousin’s uncle and he was really cagey and angry for a long time whenever he was around visiting with family and everyone was always like ‘why is he so angry all the time?’ and my mother was the only one who ever thought ‘... it’s cuz he’s gay and in the closet.’ (because she had some friends in the 90′s who were gay, so she was more familiar with those experiences than the rest of the family was) but no one believed her at the time... then eventually he moved away to NYC, far farrr away from the family, and finally got to be himself there and felt so much better.. but then he would still feel really on edge when he was at home. Like that super short fuse would come right back... But then his (very conservative and homophobic) mother who lived back home died. And after that, he finally came out to the family and introduced his boyfriend etcetc and he got so much more comfortable in general!... I just feel like something similar is happening with Dennis and Frank. lol.
#if u say this is just abt shipping shit i Will bite u#dennis is clearly gay and closeted like. thats the whole joke. thats been the joke.#again hes just more 'subtle' than Mac unless u are like... gay or have known someone who has experienced that kind of struggle#like of course audiences who arent trained to look for that shit wont see it unless its as obvious as they made it with like.. Mac#thats the whole point of MacDen being FOILs anyway... theyre both having the same struggles but it manifests in different levels of#obvious/subtle 'denial'.. it only got more overt with Dennis in S15 which makes me think.. Smth is coming#like they went thru this messy process of Mac 'coming out' unplanned so now they can do that with Dennis but hopefully more effective#since theyve gotten to learn from writing Mac's arc..#and now that they know Glenn is uh. gonna be on the show LOLOLOL#anyway back to 'thats always been the joke abt dennis'#but thats been the joke abt Mac/Den since like S5. that theyre clearly gay and in this relationship but cant even see it themselves#like rob n charlie werent joking about that part. again ive seen those tv shows genuinely written to be like 'haha they act gay funny!' and#Macden Break Up is NOT like that dude. all right.#until like... Dee who isnt even SUSPICIOUS that could Actually be happening in Macden Break Up.. she was just lashing out at them cuz they#called her a lonely spinster LOL. but it wasnt until someone pointed it out they both became more hyperaware/paranoid n as weird as they#started getting in like S6 onwards...#and she does the same 'joke' in Dee Day.. she just thinks two guys kissing is funny. but for Dennis its not cuz hes gay. like...#thats the whole fuckin thing#the joke IS that dennis feels like.. to someone like Dee or Frank.. his existence is just a big fucking joke.#thats why hes so eager to push that all onto Mac.. he wants a slice of feeling like a 'normal' like who frank wanted him to be#but it still doesnt fill him up. it doesnt actually make him feel better. it only tarnishes his relationship with mac further. and he looks#like a total ass in the process..#its fuckin sad dude#Glenn has litrlly said before writing Sunny RCG was not 'comedy ppl' n thats esp gotta be true of Glenn n Charlie.. so no i dont believe#everything they write is 'for the laughs'.. cuz theyre not comedy ppl LOL. in all honesty u dont need to be. n they cant write satire#super effectivley anyway n Thats why. theyre not comedy writers. thats why they need like.. Rob Rosell n Scott Marder.#to make it 'comedy' cuz RCG just writes rlly melodramatic characters. BUT#LIKE MELODRAMATIC PPL *ARE* FUNNY.. THESE PPL WHO TAKE THEMSELVES SO SERIOUSLY THEY NEVER REALIZE HOW CRAZY THEY SOUND#THATS GOOD CRINGE COMEDY DUDE. LIKE THE SINCERITY OF IT... THE SERIOUSNESS... but yea. again is why the show suffered so bad#w/o glenn being in the room...

Man, I'm still bothered by DTAMHD last night. Afterwards, I had to watch MFHP (I watched the dance 3 times) just to remind myself that once upon a time, Sunny actually took serious risks for character growth. Like, i just sat there, crying with my wine, saying "Remember when they fucking did that".
I hoped it would make me feel better about the prospect of Dennis' possible growth in the far off future, but honestly, the more I ruminate on it, the less invested I feel. Dennis isn't going to get that moment. I think RCG have related Dennis too much to their shitty fans (you know which ones I'm talking about), that they've decided he gets no emotional relief. (Which is so fucking counterproductive and harmful, because we are fucking constrained by a patriarchy that is getting worse and more controlling, filled with men who Dennis embodies, and it's just going to get even worse until those assholes get therapy.) Point being, giving up on Dennis' character growth will mean more harm than good for Sunny.
I literally woke up in a bad mood thinking about watching the ep last night. I even took today off (because it's my bday) to re-watch and analyze. But I just can't get myself to. I've rewatched every single episode of S16, at least 3 times each (even TGGB-which was painful), but I'm too letdown to watch DTAMHD a second time.
Maybe I'm coming across as a bit dramatic, but DTAMHD just confirmed my biggest fear that Dennis will never get that same chance to grow. His character is who he is, and he won't ever be held accountable for his actions, and he'll never acknowledge the fucked up trauma that he's gone through.
Great! Thanks, I hate it. Worst birthday present ever.
#iasip spoilers#iasip s16#macdennis shit takes a back seat in this. Dennis is a tragic character & I just didn’t want to believe that this is it for him.#Question: has anyone here ever felt themselves slowly lose investment in a fave character's arc?#like RCG really did something with DTAMHD. because i can actually feel my hyperfixation begin to wither and die.#i never wanted to expect macden. but this was some next level for me. like just fucking forget Dennis as a character.#what made sunny so special to me was delving into these flawed ppl & acknowledging that they're products of a fucked up upbringing#Mac came out to his dad. Charlie faced the death & abandonment of his dad. but Dennis? he daydreams & it lowers his blood pressure???#one of these is not like the other.#also. is the ep enjoyable? Yes. Did RCG just give sunnyblr a slap & laugh in our faces? also yes.#there's been hype for a Dennis' arc for a while.especially for S16.then we get a Dennis centered ep. about mental health & it's the finale?#and then that's what they gave to us? an 'it was all a dream' delusion from a man that is already too protected by the narrative to grow#i sincerely don't care how long it takes for S17. if Sunny got canceled. i would probably laugh & say yeah. DTAMHD should be the finale.#it's a very dudebro ending & that's what Sunny is catering to.#haven’t been this upset post finale since TGGTH:P2 aired.Mac going back in the closet really bothered me.DTAMHD left me w/the same feeling#i remember almost giving up on Sunny when Mac jumped back in the closet. no point getting invested in character arcs. same message

First thoughts from just one watch under shitty circumstances with bad internet and worse sound:
RAMBLING FRANK vs RUSSIA THOUGHTS
I was very worried about this episode with how sacred the S5 DENNIS System episode is to us all. Didn't want a Thunder Gun 4 situation on our hands and thankfully they avoided it so hard! I think having the plot with Charlie, Frank, the mums, Uncle Jack and chess really helped out to make it feel more than a direct sequel.
SINNED -> DENNIS -> SINNED -> DENNIS — I'm so impressed with this. How did I, a wholeass Sunny fan, miss this for so long?! Three cheers to whoever came up with that inversion, really! Definitely something that happened in the writer's room and made everyone lose their shit for sure. I wonder who it was, could be Meg or another writer too, given how collaborative they all are!
And can I just say, Dennis the Restaurant Manager... oh how I love you so much! The Waitress is Getting Married is a personal favourite of mine and I wasn't expecting a bit of a redux of that whole situation.
I was so worried about all the "Mac getting a boyfriend and it being Ryan Reynolds" theories and I absolutely wanted none of that. Everyone had speculated it to death and it wouldn't have been fun anymore (not to mention I do not care for RR in my Sunny, I'm sure he's fine, but I don't need his and Rob's PR relationship filtering through into my dickandball show no I don't "find them cute" and I won't elaborate here anymore).
I know we'd guessed that Johnny could've been Dennis catfishing Mac, but it definitely felt like we were doing an Insane Fan Speculation more than anything — and for it to turn out to be correct! And in the best way, because we never could've seen the vibrating anal beads coming!! That's the best kind of "called it but it's still unpredictable".
It really broke my mind, this episode did. And don't even get me started on the Macdennis and queer Dennis of it all! As a longtime believer in Bisexual Dennis, I won so hard! All of us Queer Dennis Truthers won so fucking hard!
[Unpopular Take incoming] This is the first Sunny episode credited to Meg for writing that has felt so wholly "Classic Sunny" and super fuckin hilarious to me. I always appreciated her understanding of the characters and she's always a very solid writer, but this is the first time where I felt myself thinking ok, you she write RCG/Hornsby/Marder-Rosell/Chernins-level of an insane chaotic Sunny episode with multiple belly laughs and not just slightly Community-fied versions of the gang.
The closest her writing has felt like true Sunny to me before this was Dee Day, so I'm glad to see her grow and improve too, and I wonder if the podcast rewatch has helped in that regard! Must also help to have a classic S5 structure to play off in The D.E.N.N.I.S. System! (And ofc writing is collaborative, so well done to RCG and all the writers who pitched ideas and rewrites that ended up shaping this episode!)
I knew Heath Cullens directing meant a good chance of some interesting camerawork (and I've gotta say that even The Gang Inflates had some more dynamic shots than we've been getting in some of the later years and it's got to be the Cullens directing), but I wasn't expecting a whole visual callback to Being Frank! Loved it.
And the editing! The DENNIS System has always been great for cutaway gags and fun little inserts, so I loved seeing that carried out here with the cuts to Mac and Dee fucking up their dates and then finally pulling out the Magic Tissue of Mummy Issues (oh the potential for meta especially with the twins!). The pacing was so good!
Sunny pacing needs to feel like Mac crashing Dee's car into a wall while we are all Charlie watching it in real time and screaming when it's over.
Random strings of words because I'm too excited to be coherent:
Glenn's acting. His faces. His eyes. His range in this episode. Glacting. Juilliard. All the hits. All the big ones.
Mac and Dennis have canonically had sex in two different ways now, and yes, I'm including their sex tape/porn viewing sessions where they both masturbate together
Did Dennis pull out Mac's anal beads when he was asleep?
Vibrating fucking anal beads what the ACTUAL FUCK!
How many people did the gang drug again?
Danny DeVito with a vibrating asshole comedy acting 12/10 he's an international treasure for a reason
Dee stealing people's phones she's so stupid and bad at men. Never change Dee.
Uncle Jack though, pls change plz, I'm an IASIP loving degenerate so I laughed in horror at his creepiness ofc as I have since 1x7 but fucking hell man, can he be in his jail era already! Poor Charlie!
Hey, Charlie's got new America's just as we were promised on the pod
Oh I should make a post about everything we saw in this episode and that episode of the pod where they gave us all those hints, especially Meg talking about struggling with this cold open — added to the never-ending list of drafts and posts that will hopefully one day make it onto the blog yeah I'm lying to myself now
Parental issues everywhere this season, especially with the mums. Reynolds kids, I can't wait to lovingly put you under my microscope. Once I've rewatched this episode with good sound.
Also just in general, the SINNED system just says SO much about our babygirl's psychology, does it not? Why did so much of it sound like self-insert speeches, like he's been doing this to Mac or smt? Don't even talk to me about The Gang Chokes!
What does r/iasip have to say about— no, I'm in my happy place, I'm not even gonna go there.
Mrs Mac and Mrs Kelly watching TV together like that, they really are lesbian life partners.
Dennis blue shirt with top-stick between those buttons, my beloved. I am looking, respectfully.
And can we talk about the "opening the ketchup bottle" scene? We have to take about that scene! Dennis... he's ruining me... need to gnaw on him and suck on his fingers wait I'm browning out...
Sidenote: I love whenever the show references news stories which were super fucking big at a very specific time in a very specific niche, especially with my whole family being so chess-obsessed. The cheating scandals and anal bead… never thought I'd see a Sunny crossover but can't say I'm not loving the shit out of it!

Yes! Someone who shares my opinion of New Wheels! I’d seen mostly positives for it around but I never liked it much for the exact reasons you said!
Oh I have.... definitely expressed my hatred for it. I was surprised by the results of the poll I did, and I've seen a lot of love for it too; rewatching I honestly can really only say Why. Why does this episode exist, and why does it play out like that. Like, surface level it's an alright episode, rewatching all of s13 I can maybe understand why people would say it's the best episode of the season, but it's just... perfectly exemplary of the weirdness of the entire season. I know RCG doesn't like having to deal with continuity in most seasons (s2 was an exception because they were trying to integrate Frank into the gang, and it ended up fucking them over bc the network reordered the episodes creating weird continuity errors) but there's a difference between basic continuity (adhering to previously established lore) versus writing a semi-continuous story that carries throughout the season. Glenn has talked before about preferring to keep the show more grounded rather than allowing it to be cartoonish (arguing against the inclusion of little things like adding SFX for Frank firing the gun in post when they hadn't planned for that in a scene, which means that there's a complete lack of reaction from people in the restaurant = unrealistic) and I have to wonder if it's a coincidence that for the seasons he wasn't in the writers room for, shit got. wild. I think at some point you have to draw a line and say, okay, there is no way in fucking hell these are real people anymore. Not that they haven't been getting away with absolutely despicable shit for years now, but it used to be that the designated straight man of a scene would at LEAST point out how fucked up something is, have some sort of objection, something to ground the show in reality and remind us that these characters are in the real world who could face consequences (injury, community service, arrest). I feel that's what missing from New Wheels. WE as the audience knows how fucked up it is for Mac and Charlie to kill a child, or for Dee to sleep with a minor, but to have Dennis, completely removed from the situation, not react with shock or horror, is...... a weird choice. Especially with how grounded his arc is, and how grounded HE is, relative to the rest of the gang in the episode. It feels off. Even if it was like, Mac and Charlie saying YOU DID WHAT? to Dee, and she and Frank doing the same back after hearing that they're unsure if they killed a kid. Zero judgement at all? Unlike the gang <3 They can generally recognize when the OTHERS pull something that's completely batshit, they just lack self-awareness when they're the one committing the acts yknow?? not always, but usually.

16 sunny episodes to watch before s16: broken down
Disclaimer, this is the first long post I’ve done, so bear with me, I’m not great at concise thoughts. Also I’m sure this has been done before, but the hyperfixation is quite strong rn, might as well break it down with the information as of Frank Vs. Russia.
Gang gets racist: could just be to introduce the characters, but that is basically throwing new viewers in the deep end, and the gang haven’t been fully characterized yet. Introduction of queer Dennis though, which is shown in 16x04 (Queer Dennis Rules!) and the source of some presumable trauma for Dennis, the mental health of whom seems to be on display this season. And my beloved, the waitress.
Charlie got molested: Origin of fucking Uncle Jack, McPoyles and Charlie’s sisters. Enough said.
Mac Bangs Dennis’ Mom: Dennis “Mommy issues” Reynolds is all that really comes to mind, but perhaps the introduction of Bonnie and Mrs. Mac. Maybe Macden fistfight?
The gang exploits a miracle: Origin of Dennis’ ED and Cricket.
Gang gets held hostage: I know I said McPoyles for the first episode, but to be honest they weren’t to their true levels of insanity yet, and this one brings it full force. and obviously mac’s “i love you”
Nightman Cometh: Jack has been in s16 a LOT so far, and this would help to explain the abuse that occurred to Charlie beyond largely insensitive jokes. If I trusted rcg a bit more, I might say there will be more this season covering Charlie’s trauma, but most likely this episode was picked because it’s a classic that demonstrates the dynamics of the gang.
The gang gives Frank an intervention: Introduces Gail the snail.
The Waitress is getting married: more of the waitress! Dee-Waitress dynamic! Artemis!
The DENNIS system: comes back as the SINNED system in fvr.
The Gang buys a boat: I legitimately have no clue. Maybe they will address Dennis' insane attitude towards women? How he likes the illusion of power over them?
Mac's Mom Burns her house down: A further introduction into the characters of Mrs. Mac and Bonnie, explains how they came to live together. POPPINS?!?
Who got Dee pregnant: Absolutely no idea.
The Gang goes to the jersey shore: They return there in frank shoots, nostalgia for their tainted childhoods that is purportedly the theme of Risk E. Rat.
Charlie Work: So far in 16, Charlie has been overwhelmingly the straight man, in the case of inflation, Mac's relationship with his uncle, and even taking charge of the events in cursed. This episode somewhat reflects that. It's also incredibly highly rated and one of the best episodes, so...
The Gang goes on family fight: Dennis has an emotional breakdown related to his self-perceived inadequacies and extreme reaction to failure, which it can be guessed will feature in DTAMHD.
MFHP: Not only are the events of this episode mentioned in Fvr, as to give context to Frank now being an ally, plus it details mac's relationship with his father, which lurks in the background of shoots, this was the first season-ending, serious emotional catharsis moment, starting a trend that continued with Charlie and his dad in 15, and will presumably manifest for Dennis in DTAMHD. So rest assured, it's probably going to make us cry. Also it's pretty gay, which can only mean good(?) things.

thinking thoughts about a sunny superpowers au instead of working so here have some word vomit
Dennis -> low level mind control
able to influence peoples thoughts and emotions, make them more susceptible to persuasion
inherited from Barbara, one of the reasons she favors him over dee
NOT complete mind control, only works on people who don’t know about it/ have weaker minds
uses powers to get women to sleep with him probably
effects wear off if he isn’t around to reinforce them, one of the reasons why dens hookups think he’s a creep after the fact
Dee -> strength
didn’t have any powers manifest until summer before high school when she started getting chronic pain
turns out her bones were changing, getting stronger but causing intense pain
forced to wear the brace to keep her bones in alignment, had to tell everyone it was scoliosis to keep her secret
once transformation finishes, dee is basically indestructible, able to take intense damage without being hurt (ei all the times she fucking runs into walls and falls off shit lol)
also got stronger, why the gang talks about her giant man hands and feet
inherited her physically based powers from bruce, one of the many reasons barbara doesn’t favor her
Charlie -> survival/adaptability
originally wanted to say poison immunity but gonna go for overall adaptability
can survive in the most insane circumstances, inhales bleach for funsies, lives off energy balls when he’s broke
no physical changes (like that one dude from x men) but just generally able to thrive in the worst circumstances imaginable
once kids at school figured it out they started making him eat gross shit since it wouldn’t make him sick (dirtgrub my beloved)
Mac -> aura reading
always expected to get physical powers like his parents (mrs mac is a pyro and Luther has super strength)
didn’t realize other kids don’t see colors when they look at people until he met charlie
extremely ashamed of his “pussy” power and a disappointment to luther, so he never really honed or practiced understanding what the auras mean
uses his powers to do ocular patdowns but is H O R R I B L E at interpreting them, so he’s basically useless
once he comes out and starts accepting himself more, he starts learning more about his powers and actually using them properly
Frank -> no powers
should have been one of the tipoffs that dennis and dee aren’t his kids
part of the 90% of the popular that doesn’t have powers

I've suddenly concocted this silly idea in my mind where Dee starts seeing a woman who gradually turns out to be basically a girl Dennis (in a different way from how Dee already is), and The Gang finds out and Dennis scoffs at it like "well, this obviously can't be real. She's just hit a whole new level of desperate and she'll come to her senses and go back to (me)men soon enough", while Mac blasts him for being homophobic and claims to stand with Dee in solidarity, and Charlie doesn't really care but says "I mean, I think it's more about the girl thing than the gay thing..."
When Dee goes out clubbing with her, "girl Dennis" claims to be initiating her into the scene but all the lesbians there don't know her very well or like her very much, and eventually her real friends turn up and to the audience but none of the characters they're all clearly gay genderswapped versions of The Gang, with Mac trying to hook up with "guy Dee". And Dennis of course becomes increasingly riled up by the whole thing and schemes to sabotage it for Dee.
Oh oh oh that’s perfect! And would really fuck Dennis up because she goes a lot for guys who look like him, and he’s into that, but dating a girl version of him would mess with his head. And then of course he’d make it everyone else’s problem, because also if Dee is dating women then she might act more feminist to impress them (which she would, we know she would) and she would need him less.
It all turns out that Dee knew full well she was dating girl Dennis, even when he’s sabotaged her back, she just wanted her clit licked on the regular. But she’s not going to tell him any of this.

@hegrave / continued.
okay, okay. what the fuck was going on ?? there's part of him that thinks it's some sort of elaborate bit that casper had planned, maybe the rest of the gang was in on it with him. but as he speaks, as he responds to the question, charlie can tell that no one was fucking around here. there's no way that casper could have really killed someone, right ?? but as the knife drops from his hand, charlie realizes that it could very well be a possibility.
"den ... dennis ??" he feels like his mind is spinning, he feels like he might get sick. no, no. dennis was weird, a little bit of an asshole, but the man charlie had known since he was a kid couldn't have done something like that. right ??
he has yet to notice dennis's body, his eyes have been on casper since he walked through the door. it was hard to look away, him covered in blood and these mismatched scars.
"alright man, stop fucking with me." he's so angry his voice is level, heavy. but as he continues to talk, his pitch raises, volume increasing as he speaks. "where ... where is everyone, huh ?? y'know this is a pretty fucked up joke, man. it's not really that funny. you got all this fuckin' fake blood and all that fuckin' makeup on. the fuck is wrong with you, man ??" it looks like he's taking a page out of mac's book, denying what's right in front of him. "alright. so let's just ... let's just say that you're not fuckin' with me right now. dennis was ... he was killing people and you decided to kill him instead of calling the cops ?? what the ... the fuck is going on !?"

I've kind of been in limbo on this fic I've been tossing around, but I wanted to hold off and see where canon will be by the end of S16 with the emotions brewing between Mac & Dennis. And boy.... I'm glad I did.
Yes.... the 'Johnny' of it all. I have too many fucking thoughts (all wickedly delighted at this shameless development) but even just at a surface human level: Dennis catfished Mac. That's a really fucked up thing to do to your friend.
He falsified a relationship with him. That's an intimate betrayal, and I don’t think it's just a joke that Mac was in denial. He's given up at Dennis' insistence of being straight. Only for the lie detector test to determine: THAT WAS A LIE! Followed by the confession that he has been intentionally yanking Mac back, outright pursuing and establishing a written, sexual and consuming relationship because he's no longer getting Mac's attention and devotion. He tells Mac to move on, but he's secretly working against any possible progress Mac could make.
I know it's a sitcom, and reveals are played for laughs, but Rob first put on that heartbroken and wounded puppy dog expression when Dennis admitted that he was Johnny. If Mac really didn't understand what Dennis was saying, then why did he try to stop him from talking about, proving it? Why did he lie and say it was buzzing before Dennis could press it?
'Then, who is you?' Is Dennis, Dennis? Is Dennis, Johnny? Is there any hope that Mac could ever fall in love with anyone other than Dennis? After everything it took for them to become friends again; Mac doesn't want to believe it. Even if the remaining episodes do little to show it, deep down, he knows, and he's hurting over it.
Still, the point stands that according to S16E4, Dennis had devoted weeks to secretly wooing Mac. Like, they had to start somewhere before the anal beads. There's a reason Mac thinks Johnny is special, a reason Mac is certain he's in love with someone he's never met. I wonder what's in those texts.
Can't wait for the smut fics to come out on this. We all know that Mac wasn’t the only one getting off during those exchanges.
I cannot even get into the Charlie and Uncle Jack trauma they've been bitch-slapping us with this season. Like, Jesus Christ, they won't let up. I'm cringing the whole time. I started getting the neck thing.
This one was a fucking doozy, just like.... damn. Hey, at least RCG are not catering to the sunny dudebros so much, because they pretty much just finally gave us our rightful, canonically queer Dennis Reynolds!

litrlly at this point i think the real remaining tension between charmacden on the interpersonal level is Charlie can tell theres smth going on between Mac/Dennis but they wont just TELL HIM that theyre in love/fucking so he gets rlly fucking upset abt it cuz theyre all supposed to be friends n not turning on each other n sneaking around like they came to that agreement at the end of "Mac's Banging the Waitress" but in the way that scene is blocked (with Charlie on one side of the bed and Macden both together on the other side) we can see that isn't what actually ends up happening... cuz Macden are still keeping this big secret from Charlie... n Charlie's pissed cuz he KNOWS smth is going on but they won't tell him. he hates being lied to.

I HAD A DREAM ABT SUNNY.....
It was KIND OF LIKE i was in the episode / watching the episode / writing the episode but basically what happened was....
Mac was telling The Gang that his church was in a really tight spot financially because people just weren't showing up like they used to. And he was asking for advice abt what to do.
And i was like "theres no way im gonna HELP the catholic church with something....it just goes against my moral code...."
And Mac was like "well dont you believe in a christian God?"
And i said "No actually. And if i did believe in that God, I would fucking HATE HIM"
So, from that, Mac concluded that the issue was that not enough people believed in the Christian God anymore.
And for some bizarre reason, the Gang agreed to help him convert people.
They worked out a foolproof plan which...ohmygod....
Dennis decided that he would pretend to be a highly-regarded visiting priest who would come visit Macs church for one sermon. Mac argued that HE should play the priest instead of dennis because he wanted to be a priest since he was a kid. But my brain was like "no no. Thats exactly WHY Dennis needs to be the priest. Its funnier this way" . Mac was demoted to playing the acolyte.
So Dennis was going to be playing the priest. and he was going to give an incredible sermon. And there would be tons of new people who would be visiting the church that day specifically to see him.
And. God. Dennis gave his sermon and RIGHT BEFORE COMMUNION, the Gang SPIKED THE COMMUNION WINE with LSD so that everyone drinking would all have a religious experience and see God.
And i think Dee came out dressed as an angel to fool them all and everyone went fucking insane. There was mass chaos in the pews. People were screaming and yelling and crying.
Charlie performed a short religious puppet show for the screaming crowd whom were not paying attention at all.
OH AND ???? ALSO? CHARLIE HAD A B-PLOT ABOUT BECOMING A HAIRDRESSER AND HE WAS REALLY GOOD AT IT ON A TECHNICAL LEVEL BUT HE WAS ALSO REALLY BAD BC HE JUST WANTED TO GIVE PEOPLE BRIGHT BLUE REVERSE-MOHAWKS AND PINK MULLETS AND SHIT SHDGSGAGSGDH
Anyways I think RCG should hire me to write for the show bc i clearly have a better grasp of their characters than they do even when i'm unconcious

Ho ho ho buddy don't think I haven't been internally screaming at the thought of scenes from Nightman Cometh where Mac and Dennis stage-fuck—I've been waiting for this episode since the podcast came out last year! I'm just less worried about them passing over it in their discussion because 1. it comes up TWICE (not throwaway like "baby boy") 2. it's a good laugh so Charlie the macden/glob girlie will mention it for sure (manifesting!) 3. the live show was so fuckin gay they can't not mention it!
YES true our brains are connecting on the physical level the metaphysical level the pataphysical level

"What was that?" Charlie asks. His leg is shoved between Mac's, but where Mac is panting from having the wind knocked out of him, Charlie is calm, level. It was so terrifying and so hot at the same time. "Mac? And don't lie to me, either, dude, 'cause you know why I'm asking."
Mac registers that it's weird to find Charlie cute for not knowing the phrase 'rhetorical question', but it's really not his primary focus.
"I was tryin' to fuck Dennis," Mac pants, trying to stay as still as possible so he doesn't grind against Charlie's thigh.
"And what was the one fucking thing I told you not to do?"
Mac swallows hard. "Not to fuck Dennis, or to try and fuck Dennis, without you."

yk i think maybe rcg just doesnt get the comedic potential of denniss coming out. because
1) either someone within the gang would need to convince him to come out OR (arguably funnier) he just decides he’s done with women and that it’s actually manlier to cut the female form out of his sex life completely and he announces to the gang that they’re gonna help him with HIS coming out scheme like they helped mac with HIS (even tho that wasn’t really a scheme? i digress)
2) the scheme itself would be so outrageous and so convoluted and practically a dennis day pt 2 considering how everyone feels obligated to do what he says cause tbh he says he’s okay with this but he looks like he’s on the edge of a north dakota level break anytime something goes a little differently than planned
3) i dont think they’d even need to do anything w charmacden i think there’s enough content in dennis’ weird personal rules for coming out that charmacden wouldn’t be necessary for a good funny episode
+ 4) however…if they were inclined… i think it’d be really entertaining if at the very end of the ep , like last 2 minutes, they’re all drinking at the bar after the scheme inevitably goes wrong. den is super fragile because not only did his plans fail but somehow he is still out to all of philly. so someone says smthn like “well at least you don’t have to worry about people finding out. everyone already knows now.” and then sweet, scheming, leo sun dee says: “yeah they know NOW. as if they couldn’t tell from the way you three interact with each other all the time.” the gang is silent. dennis stares at her. she keeps going: “honestly dennis I’m kinda shocked you managed to drag BOTH of your gross highschool boyfriends this far into your pathetic life without, like, putting out or something. they must really love you.” and dennis has never looked worse then when on either side of him charlie and mac slowly make eye contact before suddenly turning away and paying very close attention to their beers. and frank says: “awwuughhh! i expected this from mac but chawlie!! not you too!” and then mac and charlie both start yelling: “aw man it was only in highschool mostly!! mostly?? charlie what did you do to dennis PAST highschool that i don’t know about??? why didn’t you tell me?? what did you do?? what did I do?? what did YOU DO DUDE??? YOU LIVE WITH HIM!” and dennis just fucking crumbles and starts slamming his head against the bar. and dee takes a drink of her beer; satisfied by the ending of a scheme for the first time in…ever?

sunny 15 predictions?
i’m going light with this one bc i’m gonna level with you s15 is terrifying to think about so instead of predictions im making a wishlist
The gang sings together again. i’m not talking mac and dennis sing together as cowboys, i mean i want an episode where they have at least 45 seconds ALL singing a song together like back in the old days. they could make it a callback to the gang gets quarantined if they want. maybe during the pandemic they decide to host secret, illegal live music but nobody shows because they’re just singing boyz II men at the front of paddy’s while charlie mans the keyboard
dennis gets in a fight! i don’t care how or where it happens i just want him to get beaten down in a grungy alley. maybe he gets beat up and they get robbed when he’s locking up one night. bonus points if the culprit is cricket
rampant substance abuse. i want to see dee and dennis buying crack pipes
dennis cries. i need just. fucking. thirty seconds of legitimate emotional breakdown. literally begging on my fucking hands and knees rcg idc if you make a joke out of it
mac starts poisoning dennis again. me and jackie specifically talked about this earlier and we agree that there’s a lot of comedic potential in mac being sinister and exploiting dennis’ physical and emotional frailty by just. poisoning him. specifically feeding getting him to green out real bad and being there to take care of him. or maybe freak him out more. he’s sadistic like that
