Sam Lansky has such a wondrous way with words, and I’ve loved reading his pieces for over a decade. If you’ve ever been around him, you know he’s just the best type of person: Curious. Interested. Hilarious. Intriguing and intrigued. I have tRuSt iSSueS when it comes to interviews but I couldn’t be happier that I did this one with him. I was blown away to see quotes from people I adore and admire like Stevie Nicks, Greta Gerwig, Shonda Rhimes, Phoebe Bridgers, Natalie Maines, Kenny Chesney, and Lucian Grainge. I was so happy he spoke to fans Madison and McCall who were so eloquent, loyal, and kind. I’m really reflecting on this year, and all the years that led up to it. Can’t say thank you enough times. 🥲

I've noticed a few people talking about Spiderboy working with UMG as a way to undermine Taylor. And yeah, I absolutely think that's what he thinks he's doing.
But did no one listen to "Vigilante Shit"?
She's ready for him this time. He's done.

hello caratblr <3 (and also any hybe group-blr!)
i don’t usually say anything on here, but i wanted to share this for my fellow seventeen photocard collectors, as the 17 Right Here comeback is just around the corner. as you may know, there is an ongoing target HYBE BOYCOTT for their hand in working with z10nists. here are some of the key points:
(1) The one (and currently only) CEO of Hybe-America is Scooter Braun, a whole raging z10nist who continues to try to push his pro-1sr4el stance on his artists and following. (2) HYBE signed a 10 yr contract with Universal Music Group (UMG), whose CEO is Lucian Grainge. lucian grainge, his wife, and other people within the umg company and friend groups openly/proudly have been and continue to fund various pro-israel and z1ionist organizations --they are not for Palestine. umg is the main distributor for signed albums during hybe artist comebacks, at least in America.
it’s super critical for us fans to continue to boycott hybe and email/show hybe that we do NOT stand on the side of Zionism. thus, it is important to NOT buy any hybe signed albums, or any albums at all.
so if anyone is interested, here is an open group order for 17 Right Here album pc replicas (still open as of 4.21.24) so we aren’t giving HYBE money!!! here is the link to the go (on instagram): LINK
so far, the group order manager has updated that people have ordered just under $35k worth of replicas, which is honestly so insane!!! like WOW OKAY already putting a huge dent in HYBE’s wallet!!!!! remember that we can still support and show love to svt/our other fav hybe groups without buying albums/merch and giving money to hybe.
i’ve listed some other hybe/kpop boycott related resources below!
+ hybe boycott introduction info (ig post) + umg boycott intro info (ig post) + downloadable music files for various kpop artists so you don't stream! tumblr post | twt thread // how to: import into spotify (twt)
thank you for reading, sharing, and participating! if anyone knows any similar gos/information regarding other hybe groups, please do share! also please do let me know if anything is wrong; as edits are made to the post, the edit details will be under the cut.
it has been, is, and always will be FREE PALESTINE!!! FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA, PALESTINE WILL BE FREE!
EDITS:
(4.21.24) Edited: Scooter Braun is the CEO of Hybe-America, not the owner of UMG; Added: The owner of UMG is Lucian Grainge, who is also extremely pro-Israel. Two separate issues, but both relative to the boycott. (4.21.24) a/n: sorry for the confusion!

BMG, the world’s largest global music company outside the three majors, and Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s leading music-based entertainment company, today announced the formation of an alliance under which the companies will explore a range of collaborative initiatives to further expand opportunities for BMG-signed artists around the world.
The first project under this alliance will be moving the distribution of physical formats of BMG’s music – including vinyl and CD for thousands of BMG-signed artists – to UMG’s Commercial Services division, which has operations in 60 countries covering more than 200 markets. The transition of physical products to UMG is expected to commence the second quarter 2024 and will be fully transitioned by the end of 2024. Further collaborations between BMG and UMG are already under discussion from exploring shared positions on industry matters to joining forces in adjacent business lines.
In making the announcement, BMG CEO Thomas Coesfeld said, “Our alliance with UMG is a significant step to further enhance our service to BMG-signed artists. We are delighted to partner with UMG, the world leader in music-based entertainment on our thriving physical recorded music business. Their scale, technology and commitment promises to further expand opportunities for BMG-signed artists around the world.”
Sir Lucian Grainge, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group, said, “BMG has brought a fresh vision to the music business, and we look forward to partnering with BMG on a variety of initiatives to provide greater opportunities to artists and our respective companies.”
BMG’s recordings catalogue comprises around half a million tracks and the work of artists including Kylie Minogue, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, AJR, Jason Aldean, Rick Astley, Black Sabbath, Buena Vista Social Club, Cro, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Max Giesinger, Andy Grammer, George Harrison, Iron Maiden, The Kinks, Dustin Lynch, Mecano, Mötley Crüe, Motörhead, Nena, Rita Ora, Louis Tomlinson, and many others.
BMG’s recorded music business has tripled its revenues over the past seven years, and is currently enjoying its most successful period yet with strong performances from artists including Jelly Roll (Whitsitt Chapel), Kylie Minogue (Tension), Rita Ora (You & I) and Lainey Wilson (Bell Bottom Country) and with releases to come from artists including Jason Aldean, Jennifer Lopez, Chief Keef, Spiritbox and Mötley Crüe.

Universal Music Group and TikTok Strike New Music Licensing Agreement
The two companies had been at loggerheads over royalties paid out by TikTok, with UMG pulling the music of artists such as Drake, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga from the social media platform.
BY ABID RAHMAN MAY 1, 2024 11:50PM
Universal Music Group and TikTok have announced a new “multi-dimensional licensing agreement” that will bring to an end a dispute over royalties that saw music from UMG artists such as Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Drake pulled from the social media platform. Under the agreement, UMG says that its “global family of artists, songwriters and labels and will return their music” to TikTok. The two companies have been in a months-long, and very public, standoff over the royalties TikTok paid to UMG’s artists, with the music giant ultimately pulling the music from its roster of artists at the end of January. UMG even went so far as to releasing an open letter that accused TikTok of “trying to build a music-based business, without paying fair value for the music.” Signs of a growing détente between TikTok and UMG appeared in April, when it was revealed Taylor Swift’s music has returned to the platform ahead of the artist’s release of her double album The Tortured Poets Department. Now the two companies have come to an agreement that will see the music by artists represented by UMG and songwriters represented by Universal Music Publishing Group return to TikTok in “due course.” Sir Lucian Grainge, chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group, said in a statement: “This new chapter in our relationship with TikTok focuses on the value of music, the primacy of human artistry and the welfare of the creative community. We look forward to collaborating with the team at TikTok to further the interests of our artists and songwriters and drive innovation in fan engagement while advancing social music monetization.” “Music is an integral part of the TikTok ecosystem and we are pleased to have found a path forward with Universal Music Group,” TikTok CEO Shou Chew added in a statement. “We are committed to working together to drive value, discovery and promotion for all of UMG’s amazing artists and songwriters, and deepen their ability to grow, connect and engage with the TikTok community.”
