Soirée de clôture nantaise

Mercredi 22 mars, les vendeurs, les partenaires mais également les personnes qui ont participé de près ou de loin à la réussite du Défi, se sont retrouvés tout en haut de la Tour de Bretagne, dans un lieu emblématique nantais : Le Nid. Privatisé spécialement pour la soirée, nous avons pu célébrer la fin de cette grande aventure avec une vue imprenable sur Nantes.

 Cette soirée a été l’occasion pour l’équipe des Petits Lu de faire un bilan de cette aventure et de remercier, autour d’un apéritif dinatoire, tous nos vendeurs ainsi que nos partenaires, sans qui notre supplément n’aurait pas vu le jour.

Après un suspense insoutenable, nos vendeurs ont pu recevoir leurs cadeaux. Grâce à certains acteurs économiques nantais et les différentes opérations de récolte de fonds réalisées durant près de 6 mois, 10 000 € de lots ont été offert. Voyage au ski all inclusive d’une valeur de 1 500€ pour notre meilleur vendeur, IPad, GoPros, PlayStation 4, abonnements en salle de sport, ce n’était pas Noël mais presque ! L’ensemble de nos vendeurs sont repartis avec des cadeaux avec notamment des chèques cadeaux Timberland à Atlantis. 

Les Petits Lu ne remercieront jamais assez les 200 vendeurs présents lors notre semaine de vente, mais également pour leur soutien depuis le lancement du projet. Nous tenions également à remercier les partenaires qui ont cru en notre aventure et nous ont fait confiance, par l’achat d’espaces publicitaires dans le magazine, ou encore avec le don de lots, mais également aux personnes qui nous ont partagé leur histoire ou leur savoir lors de la création du contenu de notre supplément. Chacun d’entre vous a été un acteur essentiel dans la réalisation de ce challenge. BATMAN - GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT (2018) L’omniprésence de la célèbre chauve-souris dans l’actualité peut en énerver certains, comme elle peut attirer le fan hardcore qui attend sa ration mensuelle de Batman: après l’apparente catastrophe du puzzle JUSTICE LEAGUE (2017), c’est plutôt normal. Transition vers l’époque victorienne pour le Batmanverse, où Gotham se retrouve en proie avec le légendaire Jack l’Éventreur: adaptation du comic dessiné par Mike “HELLBOY” Mignola himself, GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT perd de sa superbe, à commencer par son style graphique, calqué sur le design habituel que l’on nous sert depuis un bon moment. Réalisé pour concorder avec la “norme” des productions animées DC, ce renouveau ne possède pas le style Mignola -alors que ATLANTIS - THE LOST EMPIRE (2001) de Disney lui rendait hommage avec une transparence bienvenue- qui aurait totalement été en accord avec la timeline de ce Batman: GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT joue la sécurité donc, toujours avec Sam Liu aux commandes du projet. Le réalisateur, indissociable de la firme, rempile avec facilité, évitant l’icônisation -obligatoire pourtant- et nous perdant dans un univers sous-exploité. La perspective d’un Batman version presque steampunk était géniale, malheureusement il faudra se contenter d’un zeppelin géant en 3D moche, et de hauts-de-forme -et autres costumes- pour tenter l’immersion: on retrouve une partie de la galerie classique, à l’image d’un Hugo Strange tout à fait à sa place et une Poison Ivy réduite à une danseuse de cabaret, victime du serial-killer. GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT peine à convaincre, de par son chara-design pas terrible -quel est cette dégaine immonde de Batman?- et surtout de par son animation parfois limite, à l’exemple de la scène du cimetière, où les personnages du premier plan sont animés, tandis que les autres, immobiles, GLISSENT sur l’image pour donner l’illusion du mouvement: c’est clairement dégueulasse et irrespectueux pour le spectateur: après le faiblard BATMAN AND HARLEY QUINN (2017) est le tout juste correct BATMAN - THE KILLING JOKE (2016), Liu va devoir revoir sa copie pour ses prochaines réalisations pour que l’on continue à s’y intéresser. Alors peut-être que GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT est fidèle -n’ayant pas lu le comic, je ne peux le défendre sur cet aspect essentiel-, mais même pour le néophyte du matériau d’origine, le soufflet retombe vite: seule restera dans les mémoires cette efficace séquence de course-poursuite menant Batman à affronter pour la première fois Jack The Ripper, car se déroulant dans un abattoir sombre où les cadavres de porcs pendent au bout de longues chaînes métalliques: loupant l’occasion de nous offrir une scène mémorable, Liu zappe l’opportunité pour simplement se cantonner à réciter une histoire peu mémorable. Toujours sujet à la réinterprétation et au changement de background, la licence perd ici tout son attrait, plaçant James Gordon au centre de son climax: une alternative bienvenue sur le papier, mais ratée à l’écran, la faute à des moyens de productions ridicules pour mettre en place une aventure qui aurait pu être excellente. GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT se réserve donc au cercle de fans aveugles, qui se heurteront à la dure réalité d’une technique d’animation de cancre: peu marquant, rien ne peut sauver Batman de cet épisode incompréhensible, dont on n’imagine pas payer pour le visionner. On vous aura prévenu! Pour le coup, on ne dit pas “Batou” mais... BARIEN /20

Pourquoi ces 10 livres-là plutôt que d'autres ?

Je lis beaucoup de livres, au fil des mois. Je suis plutôt bon public, il est rare que je ne trouve pas un petit quelque chose pour nourrir mon addiction à la littérature, à la recherche littéraire, au remuement des neurones dans un bouquin. Bon, je ne lis que du bio, pas de l’industriel formaté, ça trie bien déjà. Pourquoi certains livres me marquent-ils plus que d’autres ? J’en ralentis la lecture pour y vivre plus longtemps, j’y reviens, j’en bassine tout le mond ou alors au contraire pas du tout, je les tais. Je me suis obligée à en choisir 10, c’est peu. Les 10 vers lesquels je vais spontanément, sans réfléchir. Ceux dont je sais qu’ils m’ont faite, cette année, un peu plus que les autres. Ceux que je ne prêterai pas, parce que j’ai besoin de les garder à portée de la main. En désordre :

Une fuite en Égypte, Philippe de Jonckheere.  Bon, j’avais lu Désordre, un journal, chez Publie.net. Impossible à lâcher déjà. Je ne connais pas d’écriture plus nue, plus crue, plus juste. Je voudrais écrire : ce n’est pas un roman c’est une performance, mais dans ce contexte le mot performance est à côté de la plaque. La vie est faite de ces toutes petites choses, Christine Montalbetti. Raconter la dernière virée dans l’espace de la navette Atlantis avec la minutie d’une documentariste décrivant la traite des vaches dans une ferme de l’Aveyron. Sans effet. Une idée simple et magnifique. Et puis, enfin un roman sur lequel nous étions pareillement enchantés, mon astrophysicien maison et moi. C’est assez rare... Rue involontaire, Sigismund Krzyzanowski. Ah, celui-là n’est pas paru en 2017. Je suis tombée dessus par hasard dans une librairie du 18e, il y en avait tout un rayon. J’ai fait confiance au libraire et surtout au titre, parfait. Et découvert cet incroyable écrivain russe des années 30. L’histoire de ce livre est en elle-même un roman, disparu puis retrouvé totalement par hasard... Tout semble fictif, l’auteur, le roman, l’histoire du roman, jeu de miroir d’un Borgès slave... Libido des Martiens, Emmanuelle Pireyre. Emmanuelle Pireyre est mon écrivaine culte à moi, j’aurais aimé l’inventer, bien qu’en étant incapable. Comprenne qui peu. Décor Daguerre, Anne Savelli. Je crois que les romans déambulatoires me plaisent particulièrement. Celui-ci traîne dans Paris, baguenaude dans les films d’Agnès Varda et Jacques Demy (et en parle très bien), prend des RER, va en banlieue, revient dans Paris, s’arrête dans des cafés, les pensées se déroulent au fil des déplacements, jouent avec le passé, vont et viennent : bref, un roman mouvant, émouvant aussi (facile mais vrai), dans lequel je me sens chez moi. Bon, plein d’autres choses à dire sur ce livre, là je reste en surface. Jérusalem, Alan Moore, traduit par Claro. Inutile de déblatérer, ce livre est un  chef d’œuvre, qu’il me marque fortement est juste une preuve de ma conformité littéraire (le contraire du conformisme...). Essai sur le fou des champignons, Peter Handke. Livre enchanté, d’autant plus pour moi qui reconnait certains lieux du roman. Mais au-delà du sujet (les champignons sont l’un de mes thèmes de prédilection en littérature, depuis Rhétorique Fabuleuse d’André Dhotel), il y a, surtout, cette façon d’écrire, d’inventer la phrase au plus près de la sensation. La Maison des Épreuves. Jason Hrivnak. Expérience de lecture, particulière, troublante, créant ce genre de malaise vers lequel on ne cesse de revenir pour tenter de se l’expliquer... Un bout du pré. Caroline Sagot Duvauroux. Pris sur une table au hasard, chez un libraire. Là encore, le sentiment que le livre te choisit. Te lit pour te désapprendre à lire sans être attentive, t’initie au sens des mots, développe ton acuité. Un livre aussi qui parle d’autres livres, d’autres poètes, ouvre tant de portes à la lectrice de poésie très béotienne que je suis. L’hiver de force. Réjean Ducharme. Découverte tardive de cet auteur québecois, déroutant et familier, ses merveilleux personnages parfaitement antisociaux et totalement séduisants. J’ouvre au hasard et je relis, par plaisir. Tiens, c’est une histoire d’addiction, comme dans le Peter Handke.

I have always been fascinated by the Atlantis: The Lost Empire movie that Disney made. Grew up watching it and just. Ah. I’ve done one before, in another fandom I was in a while back, and it’s one of the more fun AUs I’ve played around in. If I wasnt being road blocked on literally every other project by this one, I would have taken more time with it tbh.

It’s honestly how most of my writing projects come around… I had a thought and then it wouldn’t leave me alone.

With this one, I kept getting stuck with the idea of Wild being the odd man out. Him feeling out of place amongst the people above the ocean. The first mission to find Atlantis is a failure of some degree in the movie. The crew survives but Milo’s grandfather doesn’t. So for this I ran with the first mission ends up as a bust, all but one considered lost. But what if Wild wasn’t dead? Then I got caught by what if the Crystal wasn’t en entity but more like the Sol in the Twilight Realm? What if they still had Hylia? What if Sun was High Priestess and that not all of them were actually Native to Atlantis but other adventurers who had ended up there by chance (or magic) and Hylia gave Sun visions of them coming to them?

Then it spiraled more.

I’ve got some fun lore I came up with but haven’t explored in detail; like The Pillars and how Twilight (Lykos) and Dusk (Vesper)’s roles intertwine with them, Advisor to the Queen Time who is actually retired dammit, also who was present when the city sunk/who was ‘born’ there/who survived the depths and walked in the metaphorical front door. Oh! And what Twi’s tattoos mean, the roles of the other Zelda’s and Links.

It’ll probably sit as it is for a while until I either get the itch for it again or I get kick started back to it by something.

Fun Fact for this AU - everyone’s ages are little wacky. Wind (Leon) is biologically 16, but chronologically over 300 years old. Twilight (Lykos) is physically/mentally 19, biologically/chronologically 7. They respect each other’s perspectives greatly and Wind adores that Twilight acknowledges that his opinion is worth something.

It took everything in him not to run right back out after dashing headfirst towards the yelling and screaming. It was their job, to protect the border and to keep out the riffraff (Tetra’s words, not his). Nothing would ever prepare him for the bloody massacre that was the Pillars using one of their Children to exterminate a threat. He prayed that it was Ordona, or even Faron, who had commandeered the rancher’s body. He knew from Lexi’s lectures on the Pillars that Lanaryu and Lykos did not mix well and that Eldin didn’t like to let go of either.

“Lye,” he called softly, his mask - still small, still the bright colors of a child, still a fearsomely snarling lion with fangs, the red lion mask, the mask of a guardian - slid over to rest on the side of his head and reveal his face. His ignored the still hissing and smoking carnage around the area and focused on the heaving back of his friend. “It’s over. You got them all.”

Lykos is not present when Leon finally rounds his side and can see his face. The grimacing effigy of a golden dragon mask is imposed over his face and the expression underneath is distant, almost unimpressed. What rotten bridling luck.

Leon schools his expression into one of cool indifference. “Lanaryu.” His voice is flat.

The golden light reflecting in Lykos’s blue eyes makes Leon’s fingers clench tight. “Little Red Lion.” Lanaryu speaks using both their own voice and Lyko’s, the layering makes his bones shiver. “I have rid us of the insurgents.”

Lanaryu makes Lykos’s face grin wildly and it would be startling had he not been prepared. “Yes. Thank you.” He takes a deep breath, squares his shoulders, and looks a deity in the eyes. “Please release Lykos to me.”

“Very well. I will walk with you to your camp,” Lanaryu says. He feels as if he’s made some kind of mistake and the dragon deity will stab him the moment he turns. They don’t. “He won’t make it on his own.”

What’s courage without a little stupidity, he thinks. “Shall we detour to some water so you can clean the blood of his hands as well?” He really needs to learn to not sass those higher than him. The Advisor is a terrible influence.

Lanaryu just laughs and waves a hand. The bloody mess they’d made of his friend is gone. Pah, magic. He thinks this will be easy.

Hours later, he regrets the thought. Lanaryu had released Lykos easily enough, left the farmer weakened and confused, and Leon had been able to explain enough to convince the other to rest. Now it’s just them, alone in the woods, and Lykos is practically convulsing from the force of his nightmares. Nothing with Lanaryu is ever easy, he should have pushed his perceived favor more.

It’s hard to hold his head steady on his lap and watch him writhe. Lykos claws at the ground beneath them, knuckles white, and leaves bloodied scours in the earth. Leon will have to clean bandage his hands after this. He’s just glad he managed to get the belt between his teeth before he could damage them. Wild, wide eyes of blue terror stare up at him unseeing.

“Goddess, I’m so sorry,” he says, over and over. “It’ll be over soon.” He curses Lanaryu, begs Hylia, cries with Ordona. “Next time, I’ll do better. I won’t let them do this again.”

He stays in his vigil that until the first rays of the dawning sol turn the cavern into shades of lavender and vibrant pink. Lykos finally stills, lost eyes closing, and Leon sends a prayer to Faron to aide them.

He’ll do better next time. He swears it.
