Pallas turned his head in one shift movement. Love wasn't a subject he expected to discuss with Athena. War, plotting, training, family dynamics and even memories of a time before she were born could find themselves in their talks but not love. At least not in a general manner. His own marriage to the love of his life Styx was complicated. Love was present and tangible but it wasn't a sappy lovey dovey precious thing poets wrote about.

Pallas and Styx were fire: fierce, hot and raging. Fighting often but usually coming to an understanding. Consumed with bloodlust. It wasn't sweet despite Pallas's sentiments. Her annoyance with his emotions kept them ever present as he would never let his wife forget he loved her and all of her complexities. If she didn't love him, she would have tossed him to the side by now. Refused marriage and rejected bearing his children.

But Romantic love. Pallas only knew of it twice in his life. First with Metis, Athena's mother and secondly (or lastly he hoped), with his wife Styx. They were two completely different people that couldn't have more differing personalities. And he loved them for their uniqueness. As much as he wanted to say love was easy and uncomplicated, he couldn't lie to Athena.

"Depends on the person I guess. Love made me feel fulfilled, happy and safe. But it could also make me unsure, anxious and bitter. My relationship with Styx can be unpredictable. Exciting but at times aggravating. We know how to rile each other up but also what brings us pleasure." Pallas laughed before his face grew serious. He then thought of Metis, Athena's mother and how she was his rock. She calmed him down. Made him relax and soothed his anger. She didn't encourage his antics and grounded him when he needed it.

He missed Metis. And often wondered how their life would have ended up if he stood up to Crius and married her no matter what. Would Athena be his true daughter? Metis still among the gods and mortals, roaming free. But he didn't choose her. He found Styx instead.

"I never went into detail about my relationship with your mother. There was never perfect timing. But if you have any questions, I can answer to the best of my albitites but anything I say stays between us."

I usually consider myself pretty chill with shipping in fandom, it's fun and I do it a lot... but lately that's kind of all I'm seeing, specifically about shows that dont even have any romantic relationships. And we could talk about very interesting scenes, character analysis, god how I yearn for character analysis.. but you go to the tag and all of it characters kissing. Oh, this one character didnt get a "romantic partner"/character I can ship it with in the show itself? Dont worry lets just take a character from another iteration into this one, or even better, a character from a whole nother franchise for some reason!
