storytime!!!

so you know that lovejoy anvil cat studio 4 vinyl of all the acoustic versions of are you alright? there were 3500 of them out there.

i really wanted one.

so yesterday i set out to find it. woke up at 6 am and went to my first record store option (closest, about 45 min away)

waited in the line of 25-ish people in front of me for an hour, was jamming out to cmwyl the entire time lmao

they start letting people in three or so at a time, the line gets shorter so i can look in the window of the store to try and find where it is in there.

now there’s 8 people in front of us in line. im shaking. super excited of course. my mom turns to me and shows me the ‘sold out’ sign on the store’s website.

i still had hope lmao

we get inside and of course its not there. someone else was there looking for it too (i feel so bad) and so store #1 was off the list.

apparently every store around us had only been given 1 record. 1!!!

however, we did not give up here.

we started heading even further away from home, another 45 mins to store #2. im sweating and bouncing my leg as fast as i can get rid of the nerves. im keeping the same website my mom had open (same store, different location) and its the only store (in my area, in that store) that still has one available. refreshed the page so if that goddamn green checkmark goes away we can just turn around.

we get to the store, i hop out the car and burst through the door, ask the guy at the register “can you help me find anvil cat by lovejoy???”

“im sorry, someone already has it in their hands”

i missed it by minutes.

15 minutes go by of me just wandering around the store, waiting for the very slim chance that they just decide they dont want it anymore and put it back (crazy idea) but instead i witness them putting the record down on the counter to purchase.

it was less than 20 feet way from me!!

right there!!

so i go back to the car and start crying. haven’t had food for water at all, all of it felt like an emotional roller coaster.

and then my dad buys one off of ebay.
