Really embarrassing how many proshippers showed their entire asses and went full on board with the sinophobic racism vis a vis Tiffany G and the board elections. The lack of basic logical followthrough was just absolutely astounding, well done everyone.

Honestly? I think she's got a lot to learn about the OTW's ethos and broader culture, but nothing she said gave any indication that she's opposed to its core values. She's overly concerned with how Ao3 looks to outsiders for some fairly obvious reasons, and no, that shouldn't be a site priority, but it doesn't seem like she couldn’t learn and gain experience. I would say give her a few more years working as a volunteer (which she already has been doing because it's a prerequisite for board membership, which you insufferable fucks would know if you did even basic research) except oh wait, Western fans went so far off the rails that she probably won't stick around at all. No opportunity for growth or ideological development, let's just chase her off the internet, lol. No one’s a real person online except me and mine, whee! Y'all were supposed to be fucking better than that.

On another note, who the fuck do you think would've supported her candidacy anyway? Antis don't vote in OTW board elections, because that would require them to have at any point in the last year supported Ao3 monetarily, which everyone in the goddamn universe knows they don't do, because every damn year some willfully ignorant asshole throws a shitfit over the donations drive. So no, the minute anyone so much as noted a concerning comment in her campaign statement, no one among the people who actually have a say in the matter, would have voted for her. No need for a massive fucking conspiratorial meltdown.

Also? Why would civil servant volunteer for an organization that's banned in their country? I dunno, could be for a number of reasons, but quite frankly it's a pretty damn brave thing to do regardless.

Hmmm... I had to think about this for a while, it's a crime of mine that I haven't got far enough into most of my WIPS to have many favourite side characters yet haha

it was kinda a tie between three in the end: Torrent and/or Shari from my still-untitled apocalypse sci-fi what the heck story... or Zenobia di Casca from Lost Paradise, but I'm gonna go with Zenobia because I've actually written a (mostly) finished first draft for Lost Paradise and Zenobia gave me a lot of sidetracked thoughts when I was writing it

so, Zenobia (name not final! i actually called her Zanobia several times in the draft as well) is the youngest daughter of this Viscountess lady who has adopted a bunch of orphan girls for nefarious purposes, maybe as like a personal witch coven i dunno, but Zenobia is the youngest and she befriended Cassandra in the background while Angel (they're one of the story's protags btw) is having Supernatural crises and all that jazz... i think she's like a ghost, Zenobia that is, and maybe more than human

i think i like her the best because she was very fun to write, I like characters who are Mysterious, both in the narrative and to me, and she's both of these (like Fineas in the draft, but i need to explain about him because that's the PLot ) anyway Zenobia is generally disliked by her sisters,,, i think there's a di casca power scheme going on

when i was writing draft one my brain basically pushed her to the side because i think a lot more on her would be a subject for a Lost Paradise sequel (which of course I want to write but I'm not done LP yet so *shrug*

felt like a Zenobia snippet too so yeah:

Danganronpa Ultimate Categorization

Welcome back to another episode of: Jade is a nerd about something absolutely useless! Today's topic: Talent classification in Danganronpa/Fangans.

In the process of making my own fangan/s, I've created a classification system for the types of talents you can give characters. These classifications are...

Arts: Talents that are involved in the visual arts, performing arts, or fashion. Encompasses performers of all types, any type of visual artist, or anyone involved in fashion. (Ex. Actor, Abstract Artist, Model)

Practical: Talents that focus on a specialized skill or work with your hands. Also includes any talents that are religious or spiritual in nature. (Ex. Mechanical Engineer, Detective, Shrine Maiden)

Academic: Talents that are recognized by how much knowledge or experience a character has in an academic field. Covers most science, literature, math, and research based talents. (Ex. Chemist, Theologian, Archaeologist)

Sports: Talents relating to athletic skill. (Ex. Footballer, Kickboxer, Bowler)

Novelty: Talents given to a person who is special simply by existing. Can also be given to characters who win a contest for their talent. Includes Lucky/Unlucky Students, royalty, and non-human characters. (Ex. Lucky Student, Student, Princess)

This system of classification was based on my experience in the community over about three or four years, seeing many other people's original characters as well as creating my own. I found many fell into these categories. My "perfect" ratio, which my friends and I used as a guideline for making our fangan casts, is 4 arts : 4 practical : 4 academic : 2 sports: 2 novelty. I felt this ratio kept things even and grounded.

A few months ago, I began to wonder if my "perfect" ratio was more of my own creation than an actual pattern I saw. I thought, in the event it was, that I would come up with a mathematically accurate ratio that better represented the talent distribution of Danganronpa and its fan projects. This was my attempt at doing just that.

Data Collection

For this, I tried to collect as varied of a sample as possible. I included the three mainline Danganronpa games and sixteen fangans, ranging from very popular ones to very obscure ones. The fangans sampled for this analysis were...

I figured out the talent ratio for each individual game by looking through their casts and sorting them with my classification system. Ultimate ???'s were thrown out if possible (such as in the case of Akeda Amusements, where Hanari was thrown out due to the fangan having seventeen participants) and if not, they were counted as novelty.

Also, shout out to Yuki Maeda and Teruya Ōtori for managing to count for two different data sets despite my best efforts at finagling a way to keep them confined to one.

Observations

The first thing I noticed in looking at the ratios for canon Danganronpa was that Academic ultimates are underrepresented compared to what I initially remembered. It had been a while since I revisited the mainline games, and it was a shock to be reminded of that. I was also reminded, but not quite as shocked by the greater emphasis on practical ultimates.

In fangans, the focus on practical ultimates continues to be heavy, with none having less than two. There was also less focus on sports ultimates, with the majority having only one or two compared to the three that the mainline games had a majority of the time. They also tend to have more academic ultimates.

I think that this could be explained by looking at the types of people who make fangans. The majority of people I know who make fangans have very particular knowledge about certain fields due to experience or heavy research, and more often than not these fields do not include sports. They are more likely to make characters based on their experiences and knowledge that they can then insert into the story to make it seem more authentic.

I also, unsurprisingly, found that my "perfect" ratio was not reflected in many of the fangans I looked at. There was only one besides my own that followed that ratio.

Now, if my "perfect" ratio is not the mathematically perfect ratio, then what is?

According to the data collected for the canon games, this is.

This just so happens to also be the ratio for Trigger Happy Havoc.

According to the data collected from the fangans, this is the perfect ratio.

The only fangan that followed this ratio exactly was Akeda Amusements. V3 also had this distribution.

When considering both mainline and fan made games, the perfect ratio was this.

Ironically, not a single mainline game or fan game followed this ratio.

Out of curiosity, I also calculated the standard deviation for each data set.

Canon Danganronpa has little to no variation, conveying that talent ratios are quite consistent between games. The biggest variation would be in the novelty category, making sense as V3 scaled down the amount of novelty ultimates compared to the other two games.

The fangans are shown to have a much larger variation. Though I can't be surprised by this, as perhaps it is an unfair comparison. The mainline Danganronpa games were written by mostly the same team and had less to sample from, while the fangans have not only a larger sample size in which to deviate, but many different writers that think differently about talent distribution.

Final Thoughts

In putting this all together, I found that my classification system, while not perfect in any sense of the word, has some validity to it. If I wanted to, I could definitely make some improvements to it (especially in distinguishing between certain academic and practical fields from novelty), but as of now it works perfectly fine as an aide in cast creation for me.

My ratio is also not perfect, which was an expected outcome. Really none of the ratios I found are perfect, with none of them representing more than one or two of any mainline or fan made game. While ratios like the ones I found can be good for making sure you have a balanced distribution of talents, they aren't required to make a good cast. Personally, I'll continue using my personal "perfect" ratio as a baseline for any cast I make in the future.

Porygons are certainly an unusual case. While this species of pokémon seems to be alive, they are by no means biological organisms, at least in ways that we understand. Let’s jump right into it.

At least as far as size goes, porygons are a solid size for a pet, though they are surprisingly heavy. Usually, however, any pokémon species that gets around by levitation is able to negate most mobility issues in the home so long as they have enough airspace to move around in. In fact, porygons can get around exceptionally (and perhaps too) well. They’re power of flight seems to be boundless, as they are speculated as being able to fly into space (Yellow). Take this with a grain of salt, however, as this pokédex rumor may be referring more to porygons’ abilities to survive in a vacuum (we’ll talk about that more later). Being made entirely of programmable code in a physical form, porygons can travel in a realm we can’t: cyberspace (Red/Blue). Porygons are capable of reverting their physical form back into “program data” in order to do so (Ruby/Sapphire). This is great on one hand, because it will make it much easier to bring your pet with you on trips! Additionally, your faithful friend could help protect your little corner of cyberspace from malicious code (Shield). This ability also means, unfortunately, that it would be rather easy for your porygon to wander off across the internet, never to return. Luckily for you, few porygons have a rebellious streak…

Porygons are… well… predictable. Porygons are reportedly unable to act outside of what they were programmed with when they were created, and said programming seems to be pretty restrictive (Silver, Crystal). So, if you’re looking for a spontaneous pet, you’re looking in the wrong place. It’s unclear in the pokédex data if a porygon’s programming can be easily rewritten to give them a little more personality and autonomy. If you are adopting a porygon, it’s most likely that you are either getting them from a computer scientist who specializes in creating them (unless you are such a scientist yourself) or finding them at a rescue that found them wandering, lost in cyberspace, so there’s a good chance the programming you get is what you get. But hey, I’m not an expert! Porygon science has come a long way in the last thirty-ish years since their invention (Silver, Crystal, Sun). At least, it seems that they were invented thirty-ish years ago? A quite similar creature was observed in what is now the Sinnoh region during its ruler surveying, though it couldn’t possibly have actually been a porygon, could it (Legends: Arceus)?

On the bright side, if we look past the risk of them getting loose in cyberspace, porygons are rather easy to take care of. They don’t even breathe, and it has been speculated that they can function in pretty much any environment (Yellow, Gold). Due to their restrictive programming, most porygons are very even-tempered, which is good given their combat abilities. Porygons’ move pools largely depend on their programming, but they are physically capable of using some pretty dangerous electric-type moves like Thunder Shock, Discharge, and Zap Cannon, which could easily prove deadly depending on the context. An attacking porygon could present a threat to any human, but this factor doesn’t tank their score too bad given their predictable, programmable behavior.

If you are looking to adopt a porygon, it is important to acknowledge that the pokémon you’re adopting, while alive, is not as spontaneous or expressive as many biological species. That being said, so long as you can somehow prevent your little friend from wandering off into cyberspace with some careful firewalls and restrictions, they are quite easy to care for. I think they look pretty charming too, personally.

Virtual Character Tourney - Round 5 - Bracket B Finals

Dr. Coomer propaganda:

Dr. Coomer is the EMBODIMENT of a old and broken AI. Silly man, just a very old guy who has a crisis over realizing that he's in a game because he went out of bounds. He runs into the same trap/enemy constantly because of one area at the beginning of the game, explodes anything with the word explosive on it, cannot stop greeting the player, recites the entirety of the 2012 Wikipedia article for chairs because was was sitting in one, and is basically a permanent tutorial npc. Someone fix this man's code please.

he is so sentient it hurts

he's a broken tutorial npc who becomes aware that he's trapped in a game and repeatedly tries to escape. he wanted to be a boxer instead of a scientist. he wants to live in super punch out for the super nintendo entertainment system but instead he's stuck in half life. you wouldn't leave him in half life, gordon? fucking half life? let him ou-- HELLO, GORDON!

Ultraman X propaganda:

X canonically lost his physical form and lives in Daiichi's phone. His presence caused Daiichi's phone to turn gold, instead of the standard-issue silver the rest of XIO's employees have. It's possible for XIO's scientists to send powerups to X because he lives on Daiichi's phone. There's also a couple episodes where X gets trapped in cyberspace and Dr. Gourman and friends have to design something for Daiichi to help him escape. (Dr. Gourman is the first to notice Daiichi is secretly Ultraman X. Also in the crossover movie, Daiichi and X got separated and X couldn't live on Daiichi's phone so he jumped to the nearest computer (which belonged to Naomi from Ultraman Orb, air date 2016) and began pulling up photos of Daiichi in a "Have You Seen This Nerd?" sort of way. The enemy goons saw Naomi and her cryptid hunting gang putting up missing posters for Daiichi and tore them down bc they had him captured at their crystal witch's base, a creepy haunted house. Eventually when Daiichi and X reunited as man and lil alien on his phone, they were so happy they ignored everyone else in the room. They were grateful enough to fight alongside Naomi's sad space cowboy, Kurenai Gai, in battle.

He's used the phone's vibration function a few times to try and get people's attention, and he doesn't like being turned face-down because he can't see. In order to take on a physical form he has to essentially fuse with his human partner Daichi. (also they get a power up form after Daichi nearly Dies to save him and it's rainbow themed.) While X is very chatty and enjoys talking with his partner, he's often a formless voice while they're fused.The exception being one occasion where he looks like an entire network. tldr this alien is gay he is very polite and deserves your vote.

This all put together sounds like each of their stories are happening after Sonic got fully corrupted. Knuckles' key line is a major hint to that. Amy is wondering about the Chaos Emeralds, where did they go after the last time he used them to unlock the towers? What happened to them? Sage is thinking of one unique possibility she didn't consider before, and throughout the game, she kept warning Sonic and trying to stop him and all her conclusions were the end of the world with no hope to save it.

And Tails... He's trying to interact with a cyberspace prison, he is outside a prison which is most probably holding someone but we cannot see who.

And Sonic's line indicates he said after they set him free, like he is trying to reassure them all after what they've been through. After what Tails has been through (jfjshxjfjcjjd screaming and crying and screeching at how he grabbed his hand with a caring firm support like saying I got you brother )

I have no idea how the story of Final Horizon will go but its name is hint enough of when it occurs. That brings me back to Tails. Unlike Knuckles and Amy who are fully back - which happened when Sonic freed them and got corrupted and lost to cyberspace in the process - Tails is glitching back and forth between being real and being cyber-imprisoned again. Why is he hurting himself with the same thing he was set free from?

To me it looks like Tails is the one trying the hardest to free Sonic, to bring back his brother at the expanse of his own safety.

They are so so alike, I can't ndjfjcjdcjjgjf *trails off in unintelligible wails*
