this book doesn't quit I'm absolutely obsessed with it. it's really ramping up with the racial commentary that's been really cleverly building up through out. in some ways, I'm also interested to see how this theme of white women being obsessed with true crime while also being terrified of crime that rarely happens their communities progresses. even in this case, which we know reading the author's note is inspired by white American serial killers, the primary victims are black boys and their families. there's a lot of potential here I hope he pulls it off lol

I am very much enjoying this kaiju book but they keep calling things parasites and then perfectly describing symbiotes and, like, I get that 'parasite' is a much more popculture friendly term but I also have a massive phobia of them and need this book to stop talking about parasites eating people already

Giacomo, Ortega, and Atticus (at least only because we've seen him without the mask before this) are all pretty recognizable for the most part, but God, ERI????? MELA?? Mela looks like she's TWELVE without her usual outfit and makeup and Eri is just, like, well. Unrecognizable. Although I'm so glad to see how they all look when not dressed up!

(And for those worried, no, this isn't permanent, it's because they're studying/doing makeup tests since they missed a lot of school as Team Star and Eri specifically wanted them to be in their uniforms since it's easier.)

Lets liveblog a different book now

Today we’re starting “The Wildlife-Friendly Vegetable Gardener: How to Grow Food in Harmony with Nature” by Tammi Hartung (author of Homegrown Herbs.)

I’m interested in this because my dad likes growing vegetables and I feel I should learn how to grow more veggies (it’ll be harder to say I’m wasting money on ingredients when trying new foods if its stuff I grew myself) but since I’m really into pollinator gardening and helping ecosystems however I can, I wanna see what this book has to say!

I haven’t opened it yet but I can already say the cover illustration is Funky! Illustrations are by Holly Ward Bimba
