Okay I know this isn't this blog's M-O , but I HAVE to give some context for the last couple of screenshots, because I just love this scene so much, and the live-action movie is too underrated.

Okay so. Jigen and Lupin are trying to take down a bad guy and Lupin decides they need backup. He proceeds to drag Jigen to a remote temple in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere, which Jigen isn't so happy about but follows nonetheless. Eventually Jigen asks Lupin what the hell they are doing here, and this exchange happens:

Jigen: What is this place? Some sort of ascetic training? What good would swinging a sword do? Gun beats sword. Voice from behind him: Say that again? Jigen: -turns around- Goemon:

Lupin: Heyyyyyyy Goemon! Long time no see! :D

Goemon, completely ignoring Lupin:

Jigen:

Not a word, just the most disbelieving, disdainful face I have ever laid my eyes upon.

Monster The Movie : Johan Liebert

I made a live-action film poster for Naoki Urasawa's original manga <MONSTER>.

I was quite young when I saw this manga, so I didn't fully understand what it was trying to say besides the overall story. Rather, after I grew up, I was able to recall what this manga was about.

Naoki Urasawa draws manga in a very realistic style, but at the same time it is exquisitely streamlined. As for what his painting style will look like when it is composed of realistic images, I think someone could still have gotten better results.

Johan was a very unique character. I felt creepy and pity for his actions at the same time. Is evil made or is it born? It's easy to blame those who create evil. But if someone is born as evil, who is to blame for it? he was a character that made us ask these questions.

2 song changes in The Little Mermaid 2023

There were two small yet meaningful changes in the original lyrics to songs in the 2023 The Little Mermaid movie (that I know of) that are worth pointing out.

1. The English version of Kiss the Girl.

A small portion of the lyrics were changed so instead of Sebastian basically telling Eric "It's okay to kiss people without knowing if they consent" he instead tells him "If you don't know whether someone wants to be kissed, just ask!"

The original lyrics went

Yes, you want her Look at her, you know you do Possible she wants you too There is one way to ask her It don't take a word Not a single word Go on and kiss the girl

And were changed to

Yes, you want her Look at her, you know you do Possible she wants you too Use your words, boy, and ask her! If the time is right Then the time is tonight Go on and kiss the girl

2. The Brazilian Portuguese version of Part of Your World (Reprise)

In the original lyrics, Ariel says that she will one day belong to Eric. Like she's a possession to be owned:

Eu não sei bem como explicar I don't quite know how to explain [how I know] Que alguma coisa vai começar That something's about to start Só sei dizer que à você vou pertencer! I just know that [one day] I'm going to belong to you!

In the new movie, the lines were changed to

Beat Takeshi stars as Hideyoshi in “Kubi” 首, a movie where he’s also involved in the scriptwriting, and also is the director!

To think that this showed up not long after I shared that old Toyota advertisement! However, unlike the more positive Hideyoshi image in the Toyota ad, the PR of this movie says that the plot follows the “Hideyoshi is the mastermind behind Honnouji” conspiracy. So we can expect a scheming, or even a somewhat sinister Hideyoshi in this production.

加瀬亮 Kase Ryou will play as Nobunaga, 西島秀俊 Nishijima Hidetoshi as Mitsuhide, 浅野忠信 Asano Tadanobu as Kuroda Kanbei, and 大森南朋 Ōmori Nao as Hideyoshi’s brother Hidenaga.

It’s always a little strange to me, to see a ridiculously old Hideyoshi when the actor cast as Nobunaga is much younger, but it’s a thing that’s very commonly done in Japanese live action productions and illustrated artwork.

I just had to dust this account, because I feel like this is very important. So, let me transcribe a convo I had with my mom about the upcoming "Lilo & Stitch" Live Action:

Me: Remember the huge argument there where some time ago about The Little Mermaid Live Action?

She: Yeah.

Me: I feel like there will be a new one.

She: Why?

Me: There will be a Lilo & Stitch Live action.

She: So?

Me: Remember Nani?

Her eyes grew big.

She: Don't tell me she's blonde now.

Me: Well, not blonde. But her skin tone is way lighter than the original.

She rolled her eyes.

She: And that is not realistic for that country, right?

I raised an eyebrow, because THAT is the point I am trying to make.

Me: Let me remind you Nicole Kidman is Hawaiian.

Boy, her eyes grew bigger. You see, I've seen many complaints about her skin tone, and bringing back Halle Bailey and The Little Mermaid again. And you know what? This is so stupid.

I hadn't seen TLM yet, so I cannot talk about her acting abilities, but Halle has an amazing, special voice. Sadly, that got buried under a bunch of people who couldn´t see beyond her skin tone and terrible CGI.

If you want to talk about Sydney, know first that she is Hawaiian. She was born there. She was raised in that culture.

I deeply regret not fully supporting Halle Bailey at the moment. But now, If Sydney Agudong will ever read this, this is a message for her:

Girl, you will do amazing. Last CGI Disney movies had a questionable quality, and they ended up relying on their main actors. Halle shut people down with her voice, you will do so through your acting.

Congrats on being chosen as the best big sis in the history of animation!

Casting Will Smith as the Genie was an odd choice to say at least. Still, it always happens to all celebrities doing parts whether live-action or animated movies. However, I always had heart for Robin William’s voice acting for the original Disney classic. May rest in peace, RW. 🪦
