Hey, I've been enjoying going through your takes on various hp ships, and I haven't seen this one. Did I miss it? What do you think of Ginny/Luna??
Tumblr media
thank you very much for the ask, anons!
i've hinted at my views on linny in various places, but they don't yet have a dedicated post. so let's rectify that...
while i have a lot of time for the idea of both ginny and luna as queer, i'm sorry to say that linny is a victim of my general view when it comes to luna-centric pairings: that fics in which it's presented as something which works depend on the presence of fanon!luna, who is a beautiful clairvoyant ray-of-sunshine, rather than canon!luna, who is a stubborn conspiracist with the vibes of a golden retriever which can speak.
i don't doubt that ginny is incredibly fond of luna - nor that luna's positive characteristics [like her resilience, loyalty, kindness, and courage] must have been an enormous comfort to her while they're stuck at hogwarts with snape and the carrows - but her fondness always reads as the same sort of fondness you might have for a friend's precocious toddler. it's nice eye-rolling, but it's eye-rolling nonetheless.
which i think adds a slightly condescending element to their relationship which often gets left out of its portrayals in fanfiction, in both the platonic and the romantic sense. ginny and luna become closer just as ginny approaches her hot girl era [and, may i say, the implication of canon is that they're barely acquaintances prior to order of the phoenix, rather than childhood friends], and ginny's interest in keeping her around is evidently rooted in the fact that she views luna as unthreatening - her making luna take harry to ravenclaw tower in deathly hallows instead of cho always sends me, because she basically says "luna, you're unfuckable" and luna jumps up like "right you are!" - to her during her teenage peak. it's not exactly giving "christ, i think you're gorgeous"...
except, of course, that this doesn't matter in the slightest because this is fanfiction - the entire point is for two characters to be shoved together and made to realise they think the other is beautiful! i am perfectly amenable to the idea that linny can be written in which ginny and luna like and respect and are fucking obsessed with each other and which also feels coherent to both of their canon characterisations - and i love that for anyone who's a fan of the ship.
i just don't entirely think i am...
[there's also the... slightly discourse-y point, which is that linny often feels thrown into fics as a secondary ship as a way to enable a harry-centric slash pairing in a way which doesn't require the author to think about unravelling harry and ginny's canonical relationship.]
[i don't think there's anything wrong with this, per se - i break hinny up all the time, authors should be free to do whatever the fuck they want with their stories, not all fics need to do a completely canon-coherent wrangling with the canon couples they're breaking up in order to have their blorbos kiss, and i am increasingly uncomfortable with how some of the discussion i've seen recently pushing back, rightfully, on the misogynistic treatment of female characters in slash subfandoms is starting to sound a lot like "our canon het is pure and good and their non-canon slash is incomprehensible and wrong".]
[but i do nonetheless think it's worth being aware of a fandom tendency to make femslash relationships a throwaway line in order to enable m/m slash ones - and to think about how just smashing two female characters together without exploring how the relationship would align with their canon personalities doesn't necessarily help...]

Ok I wanna know about:
Linny
Neville and Luna (idk their ship name)
and
Moonwater
send me a ship and i'll rate it by how likely they are to get a divorce
ALRIGHT
Linny
Ginny and Luna would go strong together. I think they'd maybe have some minor fights because of their careers because Ginny will pursue professional Quidditch while Luna goes on to study magical creatures, which are both jobs that require travelling around quite a bit. Ginny is very active while Luna is more chill (she is Chill and very unhinged) and they balance out each other nicely. 1/10
Nuna
I'll be fr I never really saw the appeal of this but that's probably because both Neville and Luna are people I never read as that interested in dating (even though I do like some ships they are part of) but if they did get together, I do see them making a steady couple. If anything I see them splitting because of a conflict of interests or maybe a loss of interest in each other. 4/10
Moonwater
(I'm ngl i had to google the ship name bcs I had no idea who it was lol) They Would get a divorce. I don't see either of them being good with commitment honestly or voicing out their needs. Both of them closing off and not communicating is a recipe for disaster. They'd probably have a satisfying relationship and stay friends after splitting up. 8.5/10

Hello! How about your favourite femslash pairing, please? Thank you!
You see...the thing is...I don't have one favorite anything so you'll have to forgive the LIST. I'll consider my favorite ships for my favorite characters and then try to pin down one for each, yeah? (Wow I am bad at this game haha.)
Hermione
Hermione/Ginny: friends to lovers with added angst from previous Hermione/Ron?? Even better if there's existing Ginny/Harry and Hermione/Ron for MEGA ANGST (and then everyone comes out and lives happily ever after.)
Hermione/Narcissa: age gap! Weird "Hermione becomes Draco's stepmum" drama. Sophisticated, posh Narcissa and outspoken brainiac Hermione finding true love!! Oh and Hermione becoming Minister and Narcissa living her dream of being Minister's wife. Super cute.
Hermione/Minerva: AGE GAP. Super smart, capable, strong women being badass and awesome together. Also, Hermione likes cats.
Hermione/Pansy: enemies to lovers! Starcrossed lovers. Also sorta opposites attract. Pansy seems more into fashion and dating and gossip, while Hermione cares more about social justice and knowledge and idk just different priorities. And they can sort of get the wrong idea about each other. Pansy can prove she's more than just a vapid little girl, and show Hermione the value in things like beauty. And what can be learned by being a bit nosy. And maybe put some party planning skills into hosting events for Hermione's various causes. Maybe Pansy seeing the light and making amends postwar. But also while in school?? Just the whole hate sex vibe. Or maybe forced proximity breaks down those walls?? Idk just so much potential.
Hermione/Lavender: similar to Pansmione in the whole "girly girl hooks up with bookworm" vibe. Also the idea of both being Ron's exes, haha! But idk something about showing a bit more grace and appreciation for hyper-feminine ladies and not turning out noses down at fashion and dating and other "girly" interests. And having those "not like other girls" girls learn to respect those things or at least not judge them so much. And also remembering they were both Gryffindors and super brave. Both fought in the war. Also I forget which book but there was a scene in a Care of Magical Creatures class where creatures were loose and Lavender was one of the ones helping rally them up while even her bestie Parvati was hiding in Hagrid's Hut? (Iirc.) Also Lavender's interest in "silly" things like Divination. And like imagine postwar Lavender lives but is scarred, and Hermione is a bit impatient with her vanity but comes to be more compassionate and understanding and helping Lavender regain her confidence. And idk just Hermione the know-it-all having to learn more from others and be more open minded and let go of her preconceived notions and initial judgments.
Hermione/Fleur: okay this is the winner for me. I can't get past the idea of them bickering and having formed Opinions about each other that get challenged. The idea of them learning so much from each other and coming to respect and admire one another. And realizing the other is super strong and capable and intelligent and independent and loyal and brave as heck. Shared values!! Oh and the idea of them coming together over challenging archaic laws about magical creatures and beings!!!!
Ginny
Ginny/Hermione: [see above]
Ginny/Hooch: not enough of it but c'mon, age gap!! Two athletic ladies!! Bonding over Quidditch! I dig it. They're both pretty badass and I don't see either putting up with bs from anyone, let alone each other. Hooch might underestimate Ginny due to her age but Ginny comes into her own and proves her worth and earns Hooch's respect!!
Ginny/Gwenog: another rare pair fantasy that I need more of!!!! Again, two athletic ladies. Are they teammates, or opponents on the pitch?? Either way, I'm into it. But because there's so little of it, I still think my favorite for Ginny is:
Ginny/Luna: they're just so sweet and adorable. All the time spent together, working together, in Dumbledore's Army during that last year. And, because I'm astrology nerd, the fiery Leonine energy of Ginny and the airy Aquarian energy of Luna is such a perfect match!! (Also Leo and Aquarius are oppositions which makes it even more fun but let me not delve too deep into my astrology rabbit hole.) But it's how much of those respective energies I see in both of them and how it works together that sells me! Fire is spirit and zest and passion! Air is sociability and learning! Luna with her head in the clouds, so curious and creative! Ginny so adventurous and protective. They're both so self-assured and independent they could have their own separate lives but also share a life together that is fulfilling and peaceful and lovely for them both. Ginny can travel for Quidditch and Luna can travel for her creatures. And I bet Ginny likes the travel and exploration enough to join Luna when the season is over. And I'm sure Luna can get work done in whatever place Ginny has games in!! Idk they just work so well together.
Luna
Luna/Cho: Ravenclaws unite!! Idk there's something sweet about it. Pretty, popular Cho and the kooky "weird" girl?? Cho's really nice and patient and probably can't see past Luna's zaniness right away, but eventually she does. They just seem like a really cute, sweet pair.
Luna/Hermione: such an almost opposites attract sorta thing. They're both clearly brave. Both appreciate knowledge. Luna's curious and creative and...yeah, a bit kooky! She's independent, self-assured, confident, compassionate, open-minded. Hermione's a bit too strict and judgmental and by the book. Luna with her head in the clouds is probably a bit much for Hermione, but I feel like they could learn from each other and be so fun together. Hermione learning to loosen up and be more open-minded herself. And if she doesn't ever believe in all the same things Luna does, learning to respect them and find the worth in them. Seeing what she can take from what Luna shows her. Luna showing Hermione how to let loose and have fun. Hermione keeping things structured and stable in their lives together. Learning and growing together and challenging each other's way of thinking!
Luna/Ginny: but yeah, this one still wins. See above in the Ginny section!
TL;DR apparently Fleurmione and Linny, but what was I supposed to do?? Not sing the praises of other femslash ships I love????
Oh wait, it would be remiss of me to not also mention:
Lily/Alice:?? Idk much about Alice, but could be cute, but mostly I'm obsessed with Harry and Neville growing up as BROTHERS. I cry how adorable.
Lily/Narcissa: okay but how about this so that Harry and Draco can grow up as brothers?? Also the drama potential of pureblood Narcissa and Muggleborn Lily. All the angst of the war. The temptation if they're both married at the time. Lily showing Narcissa that there's more to life and how colorful and vibrant her world can be outside of the cold, dark, restrictive walls of her upbringing.
....I love femslash, okay?

Hi! I’m trying to track down a fic I read and loved. Maybe you can help? It’s a mix of Ginny x Luna and Ginny x Luna x Harry. Luna has been missing for years. All the characters have aged. Ginny and Harry are married. Ginny finds her, but Luna is stone/petrified. Neville and Pavarti help revive Luna. Ginny has to massage her as part of the process. When Luna is cured, she is still young and is shocked that all her friends have aged. Ginny stays with her. The night before she was petrified Luna had been planning to have sex for the first time.
Any help is appreciated! I can’t find it and I loved it. Thank you!!
Sorry nonnie! We couldn't find your fic. It sounds interesting though. We'd be curious to read it if you do find it!

6, 11, 24, 32 (specifically, when it comes to characters you really know, which would be the most difficult to actually write?), 43, 48 :]
thank you so much for the ask linny!! :D
6 - Single or multiple POV?
For fandom, I write in multiple POV or omniscient third. In my own personal writing, I use single POV a lot. I think it’s mainly because my own things have intentional ambiguity through not knowing the others’ perspectives, but I don’t write that much for fandom.
11 - Books and/or authors who influenced you the most
Textually, my biggest influence is probably S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders. I really like long, train-of-thought sentences; the majority of my editing is actually going back and breaking up my sentences to avoid monotony in my sentence structures. (I do think it happens because I’m autistic and naturally overexplain things as well)
Plot-wise, it’s gotta be R.L. Stine. I think the way he crafts a story and puts it all together is so simple but it makes the books so chilling (as much as I complain about him ending every chapter with a death cliffhanger, they pretty much always get me). And I think he definitely inspired my love of twist endings.
24 - Favorite genre to read and write
I read a little bit of YA, but it’s mainly horror (I have so many Grady Hendrix books on my shelf holy hell). I also don’t read a lot now lmao, I hate rereading books and I read so fast that books feel useless after an hour.
32 - Most difficult character to write
c!Wilbur Soot, no contest. I don’t think I’ve written him in-character once because he’s dredged under fifty layers of hiding his own emotions and simultaneously being reactive due to his emotions.
(there is also c!Fundy, because I think his character is deeply influenced by comedy even in his serious moments and I don’t write a lot of comedy, but I don’t write him much)
43 - What do you do if/when characters don’t follow the outline?
I mainly give myself a basic outline and then have some scenes I’ve envisioned, so I don’t think this is as big of an issue as it is for other writers. When they stray from scenes I had planned out, I normally split my writing off for a section where the characters move differently then how I expected, then I write the version I envisioned and the one the characters are following. I compare them once I finish writing both, but I mainly end up going with the one where characters stray. I have a lot of story sections I’ve imagined but strayed from that I have written down to see if they’ll fit another idea later.
48 - What’s the most self-insert character/scene you’ve ever written?
I would say c!slimecicle is the most self-insert out of characters I write. As much as I project my music taste onto jack, in a lot of my writing slime mirrors how I fall in love very easily. It’s kinda healing to just write about it through him :]

@gottgenug || “It looks broken. Can you move it at all?” from linny! An old meme.
Tumblr media
Standing, with one of his arms pulled in close to his chest, the only thing that keeps Yuri from scoffing at the observation is all the effort he’s putting into suppressing the myriad of other reactions which would be far more telling of his condition—  his once-sleek vambrace, so bent out of shape now, had been discarded some time ago, exposing his arm.  A few inches above his wrist, a clear break in one of the bones presses subtly, but very much painfully, against the underside of skin, thankfully not breaking through it.
When his quiet attempts to find the answer to their question, to try and rotate his hand, and the slow and careful nature of it all does nothing to stop the instant, radiating, magnification of his pain, it’s all Yuri can do not to stagger in its wake. The sound he makes, which can’t quite be suppressed, is nothing short of agonized.
Tumblr media
❝ If I’m being honest, I’d... really prefer not to move it regardless, ❞    he answers, as if none of that had just happened.  The smile that he manages might have seemed impish, were it not for everything else.    ❝ So, Linhardt—  what do you think?  Anything you can do for me? ❞

Mercy (Arthur and Tommy Shelby) + (Luca Changretta x fem!oc)
Tumblr media
Summary: Who's that tall black woman entering the Garrison without asking permission? Arthur Shelby felt something when he saw her. She was looking around, when finally she saw his blue eyes. "Who are ya?" he asked. "Mrs. Changretta," she answered "and you're the one who killed Luca."
Warnings: None.
Words: 1.7k || I'm sorry if I didn't capture Arthur's voice perfectly. It's hard enough to write in other language 🙃.
Tumblr media
One of her friends was trying to comfort her. Kelly was a dancer in the same place that Aveline sang and the same as her, she was a black woman.
Rumours were too loud to be false. And that explained his disappearance. Aveline was walking to her home when she first heard it.
"Luca Changretta is dead."
"He was betrayed. A mad man killed him."
Luca was dead. Aveline felt her heart breaking in thousand pieces but she refused to believe it. Anyone but Luca.
Next time she heard it was at her workplace. She was leaning against the counter when one man said to the other that the Changretta clan were part of the history now.
"Arthur Shelby."
"The peaky blinder?"
"The eldest one, yes. He shot him."
Her eyes filled with tears. Luca was an assassin and she knew that probably deserved to die, but it didn't mean that it hurt less.
"I'm going to England," he had said to her their last night together "I have business with certain family. But I'll return to you, amore mio."
Aveline smiled at him, while Luca kissed her bare shoulders. "Will you be alright?"
"Of course, Linnie. As always. My sweet Linnie."
They made love once again. That same night Luca gifted her his pocket watch and a brooch made of gemstones. "So you can remember me," he said. "You know, beautiful lillies are Italy national flower and when I saw this brooch I thought it was a perfect present for you. You're a beautiful flower."
She kissed him. Months later, Aveline still could feel his lips over hers and his tongue in her mouth. Luca was as passionate as dangerous.
That was the last memory she had of him.
Now
Birmingham has nothing to do with New York. It was cloudy, cold, rainy and full of mud. And in comparison it was really small. You could hide in New York but apparently not in Birmingham.
Small Heath was almost empty. Very few people pay attention to her.
"Where's the Garrison?" she asked to a man who was selling milk.
"Two blocks away, ma'am. But be careful, not good people."
"I know. And I appreciate your help, sir."
Arthur was smoking and drinking whiskey waiting for Tommy who was dealing with new partners and Michael. Their cousin was starting to be a nuisance and they tolerate him only because of Polly.
Some men were drinking there as well, minding their own business.
The door opened again. This time the person who entered was a really tall woman. Arthur looked at her. Her slim and yet curvy figure was covered by a purple dress. Her gloves were black as her hair. And Arthur could say that she was a pretty woman but most of all, he was impressed by her height. Taller than him, for sure who was the tallest of the family. So different from his wife. The black woman talked quietly with the barman and he pointed to Arthur who gulped.
He stood up when she walked towards him. He wasn't used to see people taller than him. He had to lift up his head to look at her.
"Good afternoon," she greeted.
"Good afternoon, ma'am. How can I help ya?"
"Are you Arthur Shelby?"
"Indeed, ma'am. The owner of this foockin' bar. Who are ya?"
The black woman extended her hand and Arthur took it "Aveline is my name. I'm from New York… and I'm Mrs. Changretta."
A cold shiver ran through his spine. Luca Changretta was married? That killer bastard had a woman? How could Tommy ignore that? Arthur could see Luca behind his wife smiling triumphantly at him.
"Did you really think that you could kill me without consequences, Shelby?" He imagined Luca bitting his toothpick and smirking. "I just sent you my beautiful black angel."
Arthur blinked, still confused. Luca Changretta had a woman and she was there, probably, to kill him.
"May I sit down?"
"Sure, yeah. Yes." Arthur moved the chair and helped her. Then ordered the barman to bring her a glass of gin.
"How can I help ya?" He asked seconds later when they were alone once again.
"I need answers. I really need answers." Aveline touched the glass but didn't drink. Her long fingers grabbed it, feeling the coldness of it. "Why?" Now her dark brown eyes were looking at him.
Arthur drunk another glass of whiskey before answering. "He killed my little brother. My Johnny boy. Then he tried to kill us one by one. I had to."
"You talked as you didn't have another chance."
"I foockin' didn't. It was him or us."
.
"Who's the woman Arthur is talking to?" Tommy Shelby arrived at the pub and saw his brother talking to a woman he had never seen before. The barman shrugged.
"No idea, Mr. Shelby, she came in and asked for Arthur they're talking since then."
From the distance, Tommy studied his brother. Arthur clearly wasn't flirting with her, he wasn't trying to seduce her. Arthur was uncomfortable, but the question was why.
The leader of the Peaky Blinders walked towards them. He put his cap inside his pocket and approached the lady.
"Who are you?" she asked confused by his attitude.
"Don't you know who am I?"
"Should I? I have no clue who the hell are you, sir, but I'm talking with this gentleman."
"He's my brother," interrupted Arthur. "The one in charge: Tommy."
So that was Thomas Shelby? Aveline stood up slowly and looked at him. He barely surpassed her breasts. She saw his blue eyes trying to reach hers, so Aveline lowered her head facing him. "Good afternoon, then, sir."
But Tommy wasn't a man who could be easily intimidated, not even for a tall woman. Why was she so tall? So he didn't apart his eyes from hers. The woman barely blink.
"She's Changretta's wife," Arthur said looking at the table. Only then Tommy stared at his brother and then at the woman again. "Luca Changretta in any case," clarified.
Tommy wasn't sure about it. He investigated. He really did it and as far as he knew, Changretta was a single man. Too busy for love, for a woman. "I need proofs," he said.
"What makes you think that I'm going to show you some proofs apart from my words? Do you want me to prove you that I knew him and that I loved him with every inch if my body? Luca was everything to me."
"He was not married."
"Not officially. Look at me, Mr. Shelby. I'm nothing but a black woman, do you know the atrocities I have to hear day after day? The things his family said to me! But Luca… he was different. We didn't married officially because it's forbidden, because in the eyes of the law I'm less than person. But we did married. Alone, just him and me. I became Mrs. Changretta one cold night after a particularly bloody massacre. I didn't approve it, but I always accepted Luca the same way he accepted me. I'm Mrs. Changretta. Like it or not."
Tommy lit a cigarette. It didn't seem to him that the woman was lying. Only a wife could talk that way of a man like Luca. What she wanted, then? Money? He offered her a cheque but Aveline cursed him.
"I came here because I needed to talk to Arthur Shelby. His name crossed the ocean. Of course, the hero who killed the monster."
"Not a hero, ma'am. Just a man. I won't ask for your forgiveness, this just our job."
"I don't believe in forgiveness. I don't believe in mercy. And considering your job, I don't think you believe in it either. Don't worry about that."
Aveline studied the eldest brother. Unlike the other one, he looked defeated. She imagined Arthur Shelby like a knight in a shining armour. Brave, arrogant, despicable. Instead, he was nothing but just a man. Probably haunted by his own demons. Amazing that he was the one who killed her Luca. Her poor Luca. It seemed he was more willing to talk until Thomas Shelby appeared, now it looked like he was looking for his permission to open the mouth. Tommy Shelby was clearly in charge.
"Then, if you already talked to Arthur and if you don't want money. Maybe what you want is protection, a shelter… I know a woman in London. She works helping women in need. Her name is Rose Solomons…"
"Ya foockin' kill Alfie!! Ya don't want two widows, thanks to the Shelbys, together, Tom."
"Oh, another one. What a nice hobby. Killing husbands must be a nice entertainment." Aveline, snorted.
"Same hobby as Luca. Ask John's wife what she thinks about it." Tommy replied.
"The same wife who run away from your family with the kids? That one? Esme Lee-Shelby, nice woman… she wants you dead."
Tommy chuckled, "I see you did your job."
"I'm a Changretta, do not underestimate me. But, I'm not a killer. My hands are clean and so is my soul." Aveline closed her eyes just for a few seconds. "Do not fear me. I'm harmless. I'm just a singer and now I'm just delivering a message."
"What's the message?"
"The blood of Luca Changretta will chase you. From now and for the next decades."
"All Changrettas are dead," affirmed Tommy Shelby.
Aveline smiled at him, "Wrong. There's still one. Augustus Caesar Changretta my son. His son. Named after the founder of the Roman Empire. Fascinating, don't you think? Maybe he'd found a new Italian empire. It'd be interesting that in the future a tall black man appears in front of you claiming vengeance for a father he never met."
Their last night together, Luca and Aveline had made a baby. The boy was a little over a year old now. The kid was protected by a person she trusted very much.
Aveline stood up and walked through the pub until she reached the door.
"I don't have anything else to say. Good afternoon, a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Shelbys." She was ready to leave but stopped for a moment "Do you know what Italian word Luca taught me first?"
Arthur shook his head and Tommy just looked at her.
"Vendetta."
