re: rwrb emmy noms odds
Yesterday, I replied to an ask about rwrb's odds for emmy noms, and I like numbers and was procrastinating had time today to dig deeper into this. I wanted to see our odds for the Emmy noms compared to the Golden Globes (which rwrb didn't get).
Before reading this post, I encourage you to check out the linked reply above first (it's a quick read).
NOTE: This is all using data from Gold Derby. Again, anyone can just create an account and do their own predictions, but it’s still the main website for predictions, including votes from experts. Emmys noms campaigning season have just started, these are very early predictions, so these odds can change dramatically from now to early June. Some shows that are eligible are yet to air, however are expected for nominations. The data I include in this post are as of April 6. I might revisit their odds once all predictions are locked in, so we can track any changes.
Quick explainer for Gold Derby: - There are 5 types of users on Gold Derby: experts, editors, top 24 users (users who had the best scores last year), all-star top 24 (users who had the best scores over the past two years), and the rest of the users on the website - When I say total rankings, it means the combined votes from everyone Total accuracy for the Golden Globes predictions: - TV Limited Series/Movie - 83.33% - TV Limited/Movie Actor - 63.67% Links: Golden Globes | Emmys
Previously, some predicted a Golden Globes nom for RWRB (which it didn’t get), but RWRB/Prime did not campaign for that. The SAG-Aftra strike ended on Nov 9th, and the deadline for Television nomination ballots to be sent to all voters was on the 20th. Now with the strike over, Prime seems to be actively pushing for the Emmy noms, and I think we can expect some more content asides from The Awardist podcast with Nick and Taylor. There is a higher chance of an Emmy nom as Limited Series and TV Movies have separate categories.
As of now, RWRB sits at #4 (out of 15) on Gold Derby’s total rankings, and there are slots for 5 nominees. If filtered to just the experts’ votes, it actually climbs to #3.
Tumblr media
For the Golden Globes, RWRB was ranked #13/41 (all votes from users, no experts/editors). For this category, Gold Derby had an 83.33% accuracy.
Tumblr media
ACTING NOMS:
EMMYS
From the votes from experts and editors, only one editor voted for a nomination for Taylor, and none for Nick. The one vote puts Taylor at a tie with Austin Butler and Aaron Pierre.
Tumblr media
However on the total rankings table, Taylor and Nick ranked #17 and #26, respectively (with Nick for Mary & George at #18).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
GOLDEN GLOBES
Similarly to the Emmys, Taylor had one vote from an editor, but he placed higher on the table at #9 (tied with Joe Cole). Again, no votes for either from experts.
Tumblr media
On the total rankings table, Taylor and Nick placed at #13 and #14, respectively.
Tumblr media
Uma Thurman also has votes in the total rankings for both the Emmys and Golden Globes.
Emmys
Tumblr media
Golden Globes
Tumblr media
The Emmys TV Movie/Limited Series Lead Actor category is so stacked that the boys and Uma had higher chances at the Golden Globes. Again, remember these are very early predictions, so changes to these odds are expected.

It took me so long to finish One Day on Netflix because it’s worst when you know what’s next and I was putting it off because I didn’t know if i was emotionally ready and it absolutely broke me. I couldn’t stop crying. There’s so much I can say but really it’s just that — one day can change everything in your life. And while I was watching it [because I knew what was coming] I kept holding onto those moments of happiness between Emma and Dex and trying to prepare myself for what was coming and really, life itself it’s like that, we don’t know what’s happening tomorrow so let’s enjoy our time right now.
And you know, I usually dislike the female character death trope when it comes with the sole propose of furthering a male characters arc but I feel like this is not the case. Dex was already better because of Emma and we saw that happen in his life while she was alive. We saw Dex touch rock botton while Emma kept being his anchor. We saw them drift apart only to become better people individually and come back together. We saw them together in their struggles and happiness. Dex was already a better person because of her. Emma’a death is not the entire plot of the series. It’s just one episode. And we did saw Dex fall back into his old habits after her death similarly to how he’d grieve for his mom but he put himself together again, not just for Emma but for Jazz too. One Day isn’t about Dex learning to be better because of Emma’s death — it’s a story of two people connecting over almost two decades — it’s about friendship, love, lost and grief.
And I don’t think Emma and Dex wasted time. It’s sad they didn’t get to spent so much time together as a romantic couple but they didn’t waste almost two decades. They were in each others lives. They grew up together. Their life got cut short by a situation neither of them could have predicted. Because that’s life.
And I really hope they are engraving those Emmy thropies for Best Lead Actor and Actress for Limited Series with Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall. They did so amazing and connected with the characters. It was beyond beautiful.

ARCANE APPRECIATION WEEK
Nov. 13th - Nov. 19th
Arcane Appreciation Week is a week celebrating Netflix’s record-breaking original series, exactly a year after its release. While the prompts are geared towards gifmaking, any form of content creation is welcome and encouraged! Edit: please tag your creations with #arcaneweek22
PROMPTS
Day 1 (Nov. 13): Favorite Character(s)
Something featuring you favorite character, or characters, if you can’t pick just one.
Day 2 (Nov. 14): Favorite Dynamic
Explore your favorite relationship within the series, whether it’s romantic, familial, platonic, or even a dynamic never seen on screen that you really vibe with!
Day 3 (Nov. 15): Favorite Song
Arcane is full of epic music moments! Soundtrack and score and both equally welcome! Content based on the scenes with the music (ex: a fanart showing Jinx and Silco listening to “Dirty Little Animals”) is also welcome!
Day 4 (Nov. 16): Favorite Act
Do you “like” the soulful tragedy of Act 1? The growing tension of Act 2? The impending doom of Act 3?
Day 5 (Nov. 17): Color/Animation/Aesthetic
There’s a reason Arcane won that Emmy! Make something highlighting the beauty of Arcane! Alternatively, content based around whatever scene you think is prettiest (ex: a fanfic on the origin of the Firelights’ memorial wall) is also acceptable!
Day 6 (Nov. 18): Headcanon/Prediction
Do you headcanon a character as being LGBTQ+, or having a secret collection, or as being secretly bizarre in another brilliant way? If not, do you have any predictions for season 2, whether it be based on lore, a really cool fanfic you read once, or just what you think the best way for season 2 to go would be?
Day 7 (Nov. 19): Free Space
Make whatever you want! The sky’s the limit!

Will Andrew become a winner? His chance is high right?
He’ll definitely be nominated imo and this list looks right. Sugar was bad by all accounts. haven’t watched many of the things in the limited series category yet so I’m not sure how his performance stacks up. But ripley was fantastic and it would be a well deserved win

I read some early predictions on Gold Derby for Emmys and many seem to think that due to missing a clear favourite (like Succession last year), the field will be more even and Loki and Tom get mentioned a lot. It would be great if at least Tom got nominated. Disney should back him up. I wonder if he tries to get to TV Baftas as well but UK media and critics don´t seem too fond of him so it is doubtful.
Yeah, it's interesting because so much of what is being released (for sure) before the May 31st deadline are either comedies or limited series.
Previous nominated dramas that are back are The Crown, Bridgerton and The Morning Show (never nominated in program, though). After that, it's wide open for the remaining 5 slots. No one's sure about air dates for Severance, Pachinko or The Diplomat. House of the Dragon won't be back in time. The Gilded Age probably gets in. Maybe Slow Horses (but if one of the other Apple shows gets in, less likely). There's generally a 'genre' slot (Mandalorian, The Boys have got in here) and that's probably going to be either Loki or Ahsoka or both... and Loki had better ratings and has done better in ATL categories than Ahsoka, which might tip the scales in their direction.
Then in the Lead Actor category - well, unlike this year with three nominees from Succession alone, there are actually very few lead males this year - lots of female leads. So right now, I'm putting Gary Oldman, Tom and Dominic West in my top 3. If Severance is back, then add Adam Scott into the mix. Probably Timothy Olyphant and maybe the Bridgerton guy.
I could also see Ke sneaking into supporting actor, since it generally has 8 spots. Might be tougher for Sophia up against Elizabeth Debicki and Lesley Manville, Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, one or two from TMS.
TV Baftas nominated Natalie Holt for score last time, and I suspect that's about what it will get this year. It would still be competing agains Succession/The Bear for International program, and Gary Oldman, Brian Cox and Matthew McFadyen are more likely nominees. If they wouldn't nominate him for TNM, they definitely won't nominate him for Loki.
Worth submitting for craft noms, though. Lots of British talent worked on it.

I just think Chris needs a complete career overhaul. He was doing so well with Knives Out and DJ and wished he continued on that trajectory. My theory is because he campaigned for DJ for the emmy’s and they snubbed him, he was like “Fuck it. the ‘prestige’ world doesn’t like me so I’ll continue to cash big checks.” ///
These are good points but I hope he didn't actually feel this way becoz this thought process reeks of a sense of entitlement. I think Apple TV+ did campaign hard for him, more so than they did for Michelle and Jacob. I mean there was a new interview out almost every day. And he was comitted too, to try to secure a nomination as he reposted several of those interviews to his socials. But he was in no way robbed or snubbed. His performance simply didn't measure up to the guys who were actually nominated. It was as simple as that.
It was a good performance in a good show. And I agree, it was campaigned well. The unfortunate fact of the matter is it was just a stacked year for the limited series category and he probably just barely missed the cut. He was on a lot of “next in line” lists when critics were making nomination predictions or sharing their own opinions on who they’d choose to get a nomination 🦎
