I forgot to send on my voting story. Ok so my brother and I both got mail in ballots, and let me tell you how we both forgot to mail it in so we just thought to bring them to our voting location. The lady there kinda yelled at us? She was confused and didn't know how to go about it. And honestly I just took it because we were the idiots who didn't mail in our ballots. We had to rip them up and they just us new ones to fill out in person and submit. Not exciting, but a story for void snippet. 👀

Mail in voting and drop box voting is fantastic and provides equal opportunity and access. Sad to see some people in red states misinforming Americans about it! When you wake up in the morning, there are still no signed HR forms in your messages. Had you been a fool to think they were interested? How much time does it take to decide such a thing? Perhaps just by putting the idea out there explicitly, it had lost all of its taboo appeal.

There is a calendar reminder waiting for you: Today is chili pepper pollinating day. At least this gives you an excuse to talk to Hoseok.

You find the science officer in the lab as always, sitting with his knee up against his chest. Hoseok doesn’t look well. He’s got dark circles under his eyes.

“Hey, um…” You shuffle your feet. Want to fuck me? No wait…“You don’t look good. Were you here all night?” you ask.

He blinks at you, bleary-eyed. “Um, was I? Yeah.. I suppose. Lost track of time.” He rubs his eyes, before looking you up and down, then casting his gaze back to the floor.

All you want to do is ask about the forms. Or the meeting. Or what he thinks of you now. But you don’t. “I need to pollinate the chili peppers today.” Usually Hoseok is the person who assists with that. “But I can get one of the other guys to do it if you need the sleep.”

“No!” Hoseok lurches forward, standing up a bit to rapidly and needing to put his hand back on the bench to steady himself. “I mean, I’m fine.”

You should disgaree with him. He is exhausted. But you’d like more time to talk to him.

Pollinating the chili peppers is both time-sensitive and time-consuming, hence why it took two of you to get the job done. There were no insects on your ship to do the job for you and if they didn’t get pollinated, they wouldn’t bear any fruit. Your chili peppers were your favorite crop. Not only a vital source of Vitamin C, but all your food benefitted from having a bit of spice added to it.

You and Hoseok head for the greenhouse together. The intital set-up gives you something to talk about in the beginning. Hoseok gathers the pollen from one flower onto a paintbrush, then hands it over to you to paint onto the stigmas of each little flower on the next plant in the line.

Slowly the conversation dries up as you fall into a silent rhythm. Other than just enjoying the chili peppers, you must admit that this was one of your favorite tasks on the ship because of the high likelihood that the two of you would brush hands peridically. Always gave you butterflies. But today he seems extra intent on keeping his distance from you. Was he disgusted by you now? His hands are trembling.

“Are you sure you’re okay?”

His hand twitches so hard that a little rain of yellow pollen cascades onto the floor. He curses in frustration before turning to face you. “Are you sure you’re okay?”

“Um, yes, I’m fine. Why wouldn’t I be?”

“This, um, plan of yours…” he gestures to the vague tension in the air. “It doesn’t feel like you.”

“I’m trying to save the mission. That has always been my top priority.”

“Yeah, I’m still not clear on how this benefits the mission.”

“Yoongi said…” you start to say, but are cut off my Hoseok’s derisive snort.

“Look, if you’re in love with Yoongi, just go date him, okay? Don’t feel obligated to include the rest of us out of pity.”

You frown. “I’m not… I’m not in love with him. It’s just sex. Just biology.”

“This isn’t you!” Hoseok argues back. “You hated the idea of anyone of us ever treating you that way. And now you just want all of us to… to… use you like that?” He splutters out the end of the sentence.

“No one is using me! This is my plan! I’m in charge!”

He sighs. “Well, I can’t be a part of it. Excuse me.”

Taehyung finds you in the gym. It’s good to see him up and about, even if his arm is still in a sling.

“Hey, so I need to talk to you about this, um, ape sex thing.” He fishes awkwardly into his pockets and pulls out his tablet. Maybe Jimin was right. Is Taehyung going to be the first to take you up on your offer?

You pause your jog on the elliptical machine. You wish you weren’t so sweaty and gross for this conversation. Taehyung is such an intimidatingly attractive man with those strong eyebrows and that perfect skin.

Taehyung opens up the tablet and flips to the form. It’s happening. He’s going to sign the form. Shit. Then what will you do? It’s one thing to say you want to have sex with your whole crew, but what if he’s hoping to go right now? You need a shower.

Taehyung has really nice hands. Long strong fingers delicately navigating the touch screen. It seems totally improbable that a man this attractive would be into you, even if you were the only woman in the universe. It just adds to your suspicions that hormones are driving everyone crazy. Perhaps if you slept with him once, he’d lose all interest.

He finds the form and then turns his gaze up to you, staring you down with those eyes. It’s a good thing that Taehyung rarely turns his full gaze on you, because it is almost too much to bear. Shit, is he just going to sign it? Is he waiting for you to give him some sort of signal?

“You can’t do this to Jimin,” he says.

“What?” Not what you were expecting. “Do what to Jimin?”

“This.” He gestures over the HR form. “Signing these forms with everyone. Having sex with everyone. You’re going to destroy Jimin.”

“Jimin’s the one who suggested this whole thing in the first place.” It’s a lie. You know its a lie. Or at least a gross exaggeration. But Jimin was the one who first brought up the idea of sharing. All for the benefit of the man in front of you now.

“No way.” Taehyung scoffs, crossing his arms and raising an eyebrow. “No way was it Jimin’s idea that you sleep with the whole crew.”

“Well…” You can’t bear his gaze anymore and look down at the floor. “He wanted me to sleep with you.”

That surprises Taehyung. He puts down the tablet. “What? Why would he want that?”

This is awkward. “He, um, thinks you’re in love with me.”

“What?” There is only surprise on Taehyung’s face. It’s actually a relief to see that Taehyung is just as shocked by that idea as you were. “Why does he think that?”

“I don’t know…” You feel kind of dumb now. Of course, Taehyung doesn’t feel that way about you. Look at him. “Cause you told him you were jealous. Cause you can’t stand to be in the same room as us…”

Taehyung bites his lip. “Oh, um, shit, sorry, that’s not what I meant.”

If Taehyung isn’t jealous of Jimin...

“Taehyung…” He looks up, biting his lip. “What did you mean? Who are you jealous of?”

Taehyung’s eyes widen, but he doesn’t say anything. Instead he reaches for his microphone and mutes it. Out of respect, you mute yours as well. He glances toward the camera in the corner of the room, then stands up and begins unzipping his jumpsuit.

“Um…” You are distracted by the golden arms that peak from either side of the tank top as the zipper reaches his groin. “What are you doing?”

“Need something to block the camera.”

“We have towels,” you mutter. But he’s already stripping out of his shirt. The musculature of his back ripples. He hangs the shirt off of the camera to block the rest of the room from view.

“Yeah, but this way anyone watching will think we’re having sex.” His chest is just as attractive as his back and you flush at the sight of it. Mercifully, he zips back into his jumpsuit as he returns to his position in front of the exercise machine.

“You want them to think we’re having sex?”

“Don’t you? It plays right into your whole save the mission with bonobo sex plan.”

“I suppose.” Though the plan was also supposed to be that there would be no more secrets between the crew. “What plan of yours does it play into?”

“The one where Jimin doesn’t realize I’m in love with him.”

“You’ve never tried to tell him?”

Taehyung laughs wryly and shakes his head. “How would that conversation go? Hey man, I know we’ve known each other for years and I’ve already seen you naked and that you just think of me as a friend, but I’m in love with you. I know that’s awkward but now you have to spend the next twelve years with me, knowing that I’m attracted to you when you don’t feel the same way.” Taehyung sighs. “Doesn’t sound like a good plan to me. If he doesn’t feel the same way, I’ve just ruined the friendship for nothing and then I don’t even have that.”

“Yeah… I get that.” There’s something touching about realizing that Taehyung has been fighting the same battle as you for the last two years.

“I couldn’t tell anyone before launch because what if they wouldn’t let me go then? You know?”

“Yeah, the director wasn’t big on sending anyone who might ‘complicate’ the mission.” The two of you share a sad knowing smile.

“Yeah… And I thought it would be fine, you know? I like women too. I’d just date women until launch and no one would know. I wasn’t planning on falling in love with my roommate.”

“I don’t think any of us really knew what this would be like.”

“I knew it was going to be a problem. I should have pulled out…”

Your mind flashes back to that moment of doubt when Hoseok talked you into still coming on the mission.

“But I couldn’t just let him go off into space without me. Even if he’d never feel the same way, at least he’d still be in my life.”

The emotion in Taehyung’s words makes your eyes begin to mist. “You really do love him.”

“Yeah,” Taehyung sighs again. “But he’s in love with you.”

“Well, he thinks he is.”

“What does that mean?”

“He only feels like that about me cause he thinks I’m the only option.” You wonder if maybe he would feel differently if he knew about Taehyung’s feelings.

Taehyung frowns and shakes his head. “You don’t give him enough credit.”

“Oh come on, you know him. How many women did he date while we were in training?”

“A few…”

“And how many of them was he in love with before he found the next one?”

Taehyung bites his lip. He can’t really argue with that. “So why are you with him then, if you don’t think it’s real?”

You shrug, rubbing your arm. “He wants me. It’s nice to feel wanted, I guess.”

“You know you could have that with any man on this ship right?”

You scoff. “They’re all suffering the same delusion. It’s only-available-vagina syndrome. I just want us all to fuck and get it out in the open. Maybe if we could get it out of our system, they would see I’m nothing special. And then we can get back to the mission.”

Taehyung eyes you up and down. “You don’t give yourself enough credit either.”

You shrug. “You wait and see. Jimin will get bored of me. They all will.”

The two of you both slump backwards in your seats, mulling over your shared woes. Taehyung bends down and picks up the tablet again. “So what should I do with this?”

“Obivously, you don’t have to sign it. I should have realized that not everyone would be interested.”

“Jimin thinks I’m in love with you?”

“Yeah…”

“Is it okay if we let him think that for now? At least until I figure out how to tell him the truth?”

“Okay.”

Taehyung smiles and signs the bottom of the form, then sends it to you. Your phone lights up with a message. “Thank you,” he murmurs before he leaves.

(ground covered with white ime) and 32º at 7 3/4 outside my window and regular snow - storm - had begun to snow a little at 7 1/2 - what a month of March! - spoke to John to get at Throps as many hollies as he thought good enough and 6 horse chesnuts, and 10 more yews - at my desk at 8 - and an hour making out clearly and arranging the bills of expenses of Mytholm mill to shew my father and ready for settling with George Robinson -

Breakfast at 9 5/.. in about an hour - books from Whitley’s - Ure's geology Scrope on Earthquakes and Digest of Bank Charter committee - looking into these till after 12 - then had Washington - Mr. Saltmarshe only pays 1 1/2 guineas a year and wants to give up the pew - very well - to be relet - all that W- [Washington] had to call upon want the pew rents lowering - very well - fiat - told W- about the coal agreement being off with Mr. R- [Rawson] merely said I was outwitted in saying we had agreed before the papers were actually signed - W- [Washington] thought Mr. R- [Rawson] had on the face of the deeds no sufficient reason to refuse signing

Then near an hour with my aunt till came upstairs at 1 35/.. then reading Ure's geology (could not resist) and read from page 196 to 313 end of Jesse's Gleanings in natural history and making notes and extracts from it till 5 1/2 - Had sent for George Robinson to come to settle our account, but he was gone to Manchester - John brought from Throp's this morning 10 more hollies and planted them in the hedge top of Trough of Bolland wood - ordered the 6 horse chesnuts and 10 more yews to come tomorrow - the latter to be at nurse in the garden - wrote all but the 3 first lines of today and ran out at 5 3/4 (my aunt quite better today) - an hour in my walk - two turns from end to end - but snowing large flakes or small or rain partly frozen (more or less) all the time - 1/4 hour in the hut during the heaviest of the snow - yet this fresh air did me good, and the exercise warmed my feet -

Home at 6 3/4 - changed my clothes - dinner at 7 - afterwards cut open and read attentively from page 88 to 105 Ure's geology Letter from Lady V.C - [Vere Cameron] Leghorn March 8 (went into the and Florence March 10 other room at 9 1/2) - 3 pp. [pages] and ends - Kind letter but tho received my last forwarded to florence finishes her letter in a hurry and takes no notice of my offer of sponsorship tho gives me leave to call her husband lochiel

The Camerons had been a week at Naples and gone from there (to same time!) to Leghorn by steam - instead of ten days left N- [Naples] at 3 p.m. on Wednesday 6 and anchored off the harbor at Leghorn at 6 a.m. Friday the 8th instant - by the Francesco primo - very good vessel - going to Greece the middle of April for a 3 months tour if can get 50 subscribers at 85 guineas each - each to land at his own expense - 2 ladies going from Naples - did not supper at all from sickenings not economical of money but of time - should have vetturino'd it part of the way if they had gone by land -

3 days from Naples to Rome - then rest there one day for passport and business, and then 6 days from R- [Rome] to Florence per vetturino - N- [Naples]

'like an English watering place in point of society and dissipation - I saw a great deal of our little Paris Waller who is going out with Lord Ponsonby to Constantinople, I had the pleasure of talking of you' -

no I forget all about it and not having my journal of that date can make nothing out - must look forward to see me in London in May - 'I think I shall be in and about it till the end of July, when if all goes well I shall hope to be well enough to remove regularly into the country' - finds Florence very cold - large comfortless rooms at 'Les quatre nations' recommended as the best hotel - Schneiders said to be fallen off - more doubts and difficulties than ever with her brother Lord B and his attorney Mr. Jones about the bond for her money in Lord Bs hands 'it is a very great worry to me' - Read the courier - came to my room at 10 40/.. at which hour Fahrenheit 46º - very winterly day - rain and snow - but the latter gone as soon as come - wrote the last 24 lines till 11 1/4 -

Chapter 9 - I’ve Been Away Too Long

Seattle Washington, July 28 1984

(Chris is 20, Andi is 20)

CHRIS: I was tightening the bolt to one of the symbols on my drum set, that I had situated in the living room of a small 2 and a half bedroom apartment - the half part is the small little den room that I'm taking - that I'm sharing with my new band mates, Hiro Yamamoto and Kim Thayil in the University District of Seattle. I answered an ad in the local Seattle paper 'The Stranger' for a couple of 'dudes' looking for a drummer/singer for a band they were trying to start. I answered the ad and met Hiro first and we hit it off really well I think. I mean he is a little older than me - they both are -but he's into the same kinda stuff that I like to play so... which lead me to meeting Kim just a few days later and we hit it off really well too.

Kim went to school with Hiro so they were already close. After a few band practices with them, Hiro just asked me if I wanted to just move in so we could basically play as much as we could. I was all for it, since I really didn't have a place to stay at all. We've lived together now for a couple of months now and it's actually pretty freaking cool. Since the neighborhood is riddled with college and university kids, we can play until like 3 in the morning and no one even gives a shit how loud we are.

I left home not too long after my 18th birthday and I've been staying with friends, basically couch surfing until my brother Peter found out and said I could stay with him until I found a place on my own. I just couldn't stay in that house with my mom anymore. I'm not going to get into specifics but let's just say that we weren't getting along anymore. Honestly, I don't think we ever got along really well, but I did get along better with her than I ever did with my dad.

The stuff that we are coming up with though, is really fucking cool. the first few times we were jamming together, we wrote like 5 songs in just a couple of days. A lot of it is instrumental though, but there are a couple that we wrote that I have put some lyrics to and I'm going to try them out when Kim gets here. It's my first try at writing something that isn't some sort of sappy poem, and I want to make sure it sounds great. Not to discount the poem that I wrote for Andi when I was 16 or anything, I mean... I didn't want to tell her that's what it was. Fuck, I couldn't even read it to her I was so self conscious about it. This time is different though.

We did try out a couple of guys to sing for our band but it wasn't working out. So right now I'm sort of drumming and singing, kind of like Phil Collins in Genesis - yea I know, but whatever.

I haven't seen Andi in over 2 years. The last time we were together was when I was still living with my mom. We were hanging out as usual in my basement, listening to tunes and talking like we always do. When she started to tell me a little more about how her dad left - though she did add that they are somewhat ok with each other now - and how he pretty much broke her heart, I knew exactly what would cheer her up, other than me be being silly and making her laugh. I surprised her with a guitar I stole - yea, I know but I didn't have a lot of money ok, and that shit's expensive!

I was pretty fucking sneaky about it too. I borrowed a friends guitar case and went into a shop way over on the east side of town. I pretended to apply for a job and handed the store clerk my resume. When he went into the back room, I quickly swiped a guitar from one of the displays and put it in the case. I had no idea which one I grabbed, all I knew was that I had to do it quickly. When the clerk came back out of the room and informed me to fill out an application, my fucking heart was pounding so hard I thought I was going to crack and have a heart attack, but the clerk never noticed a thing. I took the application and walked right out of the store and never looked back. I still can't believe I got away with that. I'll never do anything like that again though. I mean I'm no stranger to stealing - though I knew that I shouldn't have - but it was always just small stuff like records from peoples houses, breaking in and fucking shit up.

Anyways, I didn't tell her that I stole it, but I have a feeling she kind of knew, since it was an '81 black Gibson Les Paul Standard which was pretty much 12 hundred bucks that I just walked out of the store with.

She was so cute when she would play it. I didn't have an amp or anything so her playing it 'unplugged' so to speak was funny, especially when she would get so silly with trying to make it loud. I ended up saving up enough money from my job at the Ray's Boathouse diner and bought a little used amp. Listening to her play through that thing was amazing. I never really gravitated towards the guitar since I started out with drums first. I did take piano lessons when I was really little but I just didn't keep up with it. Like I said before though, as soon as my mom got me that drum set, that's where the passion started for me. When Andi left, I started to play around with that guitar, just to get a feel for it and it was actually pretty cool. I mean I'm not as good as she is, but I'm not bad at it either. I waited for her to come back so that I could show her a few things but, she never did.

Weeks and weeks went by and nothing. Then the weeks turned into months and still she never showed up. It pretty much threw me back into the depression I had before she showed up, so I started playing just to get some feelings out and it has helped me with my writing. I know it's not her fault and I know she can't help it but I hate it more than anything, especially since I never got the chance to tell her how I feel. She probably is just doing better now and that's why she hasn't slipped. I just miss her so much. I still haven't told a single soul about her like I promised. It's strange though not telling anyone, almost like is she really real? Or is she just all in my head and I'm crazy? Anyways...

"Hey," Kim says as he walks through the door as I finish setting up my drums.

"Fuck, finally," Hiro says as he rises from the one reading chair we have in the room.

"Well fuck, did you want beer or not?" Kim says sarcastically as he sets the two 12 packs down on the floor.

"Yea, like an hour ago," Hiro says.

"It was busy, there was a fucking line up around the block for some band playing at that pizza place over on Sydney,"

"What band?" I ask.

"I don't know I think it was Skin Yard, or somethin'" Kim says opening up his guitar case and cracking a beer at the same time.

"You wanna go check them out?" I ask.

"I thought we were gonna jam," Kim says taking a sip.

"We can do that when we get back. C'mon lets check' em out... see just why they have a line up around the block," I say flipping my curls out of my face and heading to the door, patting Kim on the shoulder as I walk by. Kim raises his eyebrow at Hiro and he shrugs while I throw on my leather jacket.

"You guys comin' or what?" I ask as I look back at them, turning the apartment door knob, then making my way out into the hallway and down the stairs while Kim and Hiro follow me.

Mourning Star Pizza and Pub, Seattle Washington

It was a short walk to the pizza place that was pretty much just around the corner and you could see the kids lining up to get in. It was pretty much your typical pizza place which was also a bar and night club. I think the owner was just like 'I wanna open an everything kind of bar' and came up with that so he would get business but it seems to be working. Kim was apparently exaggerating a little cause the line wasn't around the block, but it was lined up out the door.

"Dude, it's like 4 bucks to get in, we wont have any money left to drink," Hiro says and reaches into his pocket to scrape together some money.

"We got beer at home, I just wanted to see what the band is like," I say reaching into the pocket of my leather jacket and pulling out a few dollar bills. I turn back to see Kim had a beer still in his hand as we were moving up in the line.

"What? I'm thirsty alright?" Kim chuckles and then downs the last of it, setting the empty bottle down on the curb. I shake my head and chuckle turning back to move up even further in the line, and a few minutes later we were inside.

The band was already playing and you could hear the booming sound of the drums echoing throughout the place. It was a small place so it seemed like there was more people inside than there actually was, but mostly everyone was ordering and eating pizza than paying any attention to the band.

They sounded heavy, like, really heavy almost brooding. Not like the stuff that Kim, Hiro and I were coming up with at all. It was awesome and man, that drummer can fucking play.

"Fuck, I didn't know it was Matt's band what the hell?" Kim says, somehow appearing with a beer for me and Hiro.

"Matt?" I ask, taking the beer from him and taking a sip.

"Yea, he's drumming. Oh wait, yea, you haven't met him yet," Kim says taking a sip of his beer.

"Alright guys, we're just gonna take a short break, have some drinks or whatever..." The lead singer says into the mic and everyone seems to immediately pile off the stage.

"Hey, how are ya? I didn't know you guys were showing up,"

Matt Cameron, a tall, lean long haired blonde, wearing a loose plain black tank and ripped baggy jean shorts walks up to us and shakes Kim's hand.

"I had no idea it was you playing tonight, when did you start playing for Skin Yard?" Kim asks.

"Actually, not that long ago. Their former drummer just like, up and quit on them so I just sort of slid myself in there I guess," He chuckles.

"You're Chris right? I saw you when you were playing with The Shemps, like a couple of years ago now. You fucking blew me away man," Matt says when he sees me and holds out his hand for me to shake.

"Yea? Thanks," I say and shake his hand. Hiro then comes over and joins us as well all start with some small talk and I get to know Matt a little more. After a while, I really needed to use the bathroom so I excuse myself to make my way passed the large crowd of people, towards the back of the bar, down the long hallway. Since the place was so crowded I ended up bumping into a few people while on my way to the washroom which was only slightly annoying.

"Fuck, watch it man," a large guy says to me. I apologize and just as I was turning to go into the washrooms, I bump into a girl who was looking down, fixing her Ramones tank top.

"Shit, I'm sorry - wait, Andi?" I ask when I catch her and she looks up at me with those beautiful brown eyes, her gorgeous dark curls flowing down passed her shoulders and much longer than they were the last time I saw her.

"Holy shit, I - "

"Shhh," She hushes me, placing her forefinger against my lips, taking my hand and leading me passed the bathrooms and out the back entrance to the parking lot.

"Andi?"

"Is it only you here?" She asks as she takes me around to the back side of the building away from everyone.

"No, but wait - when did you come from? I mean well, when did you get here - or -" I start but she hushes me again looking around the corner of the building for a moment, then turns back to face me.

"Sorry I, I just didn't want anyone to see you with me, cause well - you know," She says looking up into my eyes and for a moment we stand there looking at each other and I suddenly pull her into me, wrapping my arms around her, embracing her in a hug. Her small arms reach into my leather jacket and snake around me as she giggles a little with her face practically buried in my shoulder as I hold her to me. The feeling of her in my arms sends my heart soaring.

"My god it's so good to see you," I say as I continue to hold her.

"I guess it's been a while eh?" She says so cutely, turning slightly to look up at me. I nod still holding her to me, closing my eyes and just relishing in the moment with her.

"I uh, slipped into your bathroom but the basement was different. I guess you moved?" She says as I finally let her go from our embrace.

"Yea, I moved out about a year and a half ago now. Wait - did my mom see you?" I ask as I look into those beautiful eyes of hers and brush a curl away from her face.

"No, no one was home, but I found an address that your mom wrote down - 18th and Roosevelt?" She asks.

"Oh yea, that's my new place. I'm uh sharing it with my band mates. Weird how my mom knew though. Peter must have told her," I say glancing down at my feet.

"Weird, why is it weird?" She asks.

"Oh, um, nothing... no reason," I say hoping Andi will just leave it so I don't have to explain. I glance back at her and she gives me a concerned look but doesn't say anything.

"You, um... do you want to come back and see my place?" I ask after a few moments.

"I do... but..." Her eyes light up for a moment but then her expression changes to worry when she realizes that I don't live by myself.

"There's no one home right now, they're all inside the bar... It's ok no one will see you," I re-assure her in my best convincing flirtatious voice. She glances at the back door to the Pub and then around the parking lot, her dark curls gently moving in the cool evening breeze, then looking back up at me.

"Ok," She says and with that, a smile spreading across my lips, I take her hand in mine and lead her down the sidewalk to my apartment.

"So um... you never said when you're from?" I ask as we walk down the side walk, her hand in mine with her fingers laced through.

"Um... 1991. What year is this?" She says quietly looking around for a moment and then glancing up at me.

"'84..." I say as I pat down my chest looking for my cigarettes. I then let go of her hand for a moment to take one out and light it up.

"'84? When was the last time I was here with you?" She asks raising her eyebrows in disbelief.

"It's been a couple of years," I say exhaling a cloud of smoke and we keep walking.

"Is everything ok?" I ask glancing down at her and taking another drag of my cigarette.

"Yea... why?" She says flipping her curls out of her face as the breeze blows through.

"No reason... just you usually slip back in time if you're stressed out or... you know, if your seizures start acting up," I say. She glances ahead and then down at her feet as we keep walking and I feel her squeeze my hand for a moment and I have a feeling that she just doesn't really want to talk about it.

"It's nothing you need to worry about," She says.

In pretty much no time we were back at my apartment. Once we are inside, I show her around a little bit, through there really isn't much to see, it's so small.

"You kept the Gibson?" She says as she walks over to the corner of the living room where I had it set up beside my drum set.

"Well yea," I chuckle as I move over to the door to my bedroom.

"Funny, you still take that on stage and play it, even though..." She says quietly to herself which I almost didn't catch.

"Huh?" I ask, not sure if I heard her right.

On stage? Wait... what?

"Nothing, never mind," She waves it off as she turns back to face me, flipping her curls out of her face. For a moment I was confused but then she walks over to me and I completely forgot about it.

"...and this is my room," I say as I open the door to the den, the door barely opening all the way because of where I had to put my bed. She walks in and looks around for a few moments, then back at me, giving me the sweetest smile she could and then she immediately finds a spot right on my bed, sitting cross legged, patting the space in front of her for me to sit down.

"Let's catch up... tell me everything," She says so cutely as she pushes her curls behind her ear. I give her a coy smile and slide my leather jacket off, setting it down on the bed. I flip my curls out of my eyes and move over to sit across from her much like I did when I was still living at my moms.

"Everything huh? Like what?" I say.

"Like, anything... anything you want to tell me... or not. We can just sit here and hang out or... I don't know..." She trails off and gives me that cute little smile across those perfect lips that I so desperately just want to kiss.

"There really isn't much I could tell you, everything is still the same other than I live here and I have a different band now," I say.

"I just feel bad that I haven't been back in so long," She trails off and looks down at her hands.

"Well you could tell me what's been happening, if we're together at all?" I ask.

"Chris..." She giggles.

"You've never told me if we are or not, You say we meet in 1988 but you never tell me anything beyond that," I say, sounding a little resentful but not meaning to.

"Chris - "

"Andi, I just want to know. I don't want to go through missing you like I have been, when you leave again, because I know you're going to end up leaving again. At least if you just tell me now than it wont hurt so much when you go because I know I will see you again," I say.

"Chris - "

"-Andi,"

"Chris I love you ok? I've been trying to say that but you wont shut the hell up," She giggles as she reaches out for me, cupping my face in her hands and touching her forehead to mine, looking straight into my eyes.

"Really?"

She nods so cutely, biting her bottom lip and without even thinking I press my lips to hers, finally feeling what it's like to kiss those perfect lips of hers that I've so desperately craved since the moment I met her.

About the end of May 1969, after about a week in one side of the federal lockup, 4 tiers of cells full of mostly black men, buried deep in the bowels of the Baltimore City Jail, I was released on bail, raised by movement friends in Maryland and D.C., thanks in large part to Mary Moylan, a nurse and midwife who I came to know in early 1969.

As we planned our action, I moved out of Blair House, a commune chock full of draft resisters including especially Chris and her husband Rick, Les, the O'Mara brothers, myself and others, and supporters just inside the District line, and into St. Francis House at 1620 S St, NW - Mary lived in NW Washington as well. She had taken part in the Catonsville draft-board action in 1968 which had been planned in part at St. Francis House, the first action at which draft files were burned to cinders using home-made napalm, and also the one to put draft-board actions on the movement map.

For our action, we decided to steer clear of napalm, since we were walking into a cultural monument and were not going to take a chance on someone getting hurt. Our action was also more of a demonstration, than an attempt to destroy large numbers of files. We asked Mary to help us "donate" our blood, and she did, probably on my 18th birthday - about a pint from each of us (ouch!) - which was poured onto draft files a week later. Thanks largely to Mary but also other members of the Catonsville group, bail was raised for me within a week. Of the other two who took part in our action (we were known, in rarefied circles, shortly, as the Silver Spring 3), the eldest, 22 years old, already had a 5-year sentence for refusing induction, while his brother, 17 at the time, got a suspended sentence. This was back when Americans thought 17-year olds were children and 18-year olds were adults.

I had some explaining to do

From the first day out of the Baltimore City Jail, I began to speak publicly, and I think the first time was at Georgetown University, about why we had poured paint and blood on draft files, knowing we would go to prison for it. I took every available opportunity, at teach-ins and demonstrations, outside supermarkets, in public squares, at libraries, to hand out our statement, together with a primer on the draft, and to explain my action, and why I thought a point could be so important to make as to give away years of my life in prison.

And it was about the honor of law-breaking in the face of tyranny - a patriotic American tradition from the Boston Tea Party onward - and about civil disobedience, another revered American tradition. And it was about the draft being the life-blood and the death-blood of the war, about the racist and class-conscious core of the war - the rich man could get out on a note, or on a deferment, or by simply leaving the country, while the poor man was issued GI gear and a number.

It was about how unprovoked and illegal wars of expansionist aggression like the one in Vietnam have forever been fueling the American Dream of more, and ever more. Above all it was about conscience: I had been exposed to unusual teachers and teachings: Teilhard de Chardin, in whose "...future, the greatest event will be the sudden appearance of a collective humane conscience...", whose words I first read in a prescient birthday present (The Future of Man) sometime in my early teens; Thomas Merton, ("The whole idea of compassion is based on a keen awareness of the interdependence of all these living beings"), whose life and works I was learning about just as he was found dead in Asia; Martin Luther King ("Human salvation lies in the hands of the creatively maladjusted"). And it was about individual choice, about the sanctity of life over property, and ultimately about the Universal Soldier in each of us bearing responsibility for the acts we commit and the acts we silently allow others to commit in our names.

I explained how easy some steps of resistance are, how difficult some can be, that raising your voice can be done in relative safety when done with others, that it is vital to find your comfort level: prison bars are not for everyone. I pointed out that it is important to not avoid the issue simply because you will never achieve the peace-crazy stick-to-it-ive-ness of an antiwar hero of ours, Phil Berrigan, who having already risked everything for his country fighting in Europe during World War II, spent over a decade of his life - thousands of 24-hour days - in prison cells, thanks to his unflinching willingness to put his life on the line to call attention to the senselessness of war and "war-preparedness".

I wasn't clergy, and although Latin masses were still second nature to me by then I was no longer more than tangentially Roman C, but the Catonsville people befriended me, and they turned me on to a crazy and infective sanity, in part engendered by their experiences in other subjugated cultures, and their reasoning reverberated in me. I borrowed freely food for my own brain-roof chatter, especially from Phil's brother Dan: "Our apologies, good friends, for the fracture of good order, the burning of paper instead of children. … We could not, so help us God, do otherwise."

It is indeed a special sense, that I'm sure friends who have spent time on the inside of the crazy equation we were fast approaching all will recognize, the sense of having arrived at a moment, at a point of commitment, past which there was no turning back, the realization of an impossibility for most of us, that had now become a searing truth - moving as peacefully, non-violently, even lovingly, and forcefully as possible against the war machine had magically transformed from an act observed in our heroes to our only ethical option - transubstantiatio!

A few weeks down the line, probably early July, I was approached after a speaking event by a very pleasant man named Philip Burley, who said he and his friends really enjoyed my talk. They would really like to meet with me and hear more, would I like to come along to their place for a bite to eat and a chat? I had no particular plans for the evening, so I agreed. We were driven in a minibus to a huge old house in the nicest part of northwest Washington, a building I was told had housed the Liberian embassy. Enormous, building style 1890's, less ornate than Victorian, and it might have been newer.

They offered me a sandwich and a cup of tea in one of the front rooms of the house, that may have been a living room once but was being used as a classroom. I can't clearly recall the exact technique Philip used to ease me into his spell, which is what he did. After a while it was just the two of us there, and he began to tell me about how he and his friends - like me and my friends - were concerned about the evil rampant in the world today, and how important it is to stand up as an individual for what one believed in, and to move in the direction one's conscience bids one to move.

So far, it all sounded just fine. He eased carefully into a talk about prayer as a technique for self-examination and self-renewal, which also made some sense, though I was no longer a praying kind of person, though I knew quite a few who were. Having spent a lot of time with priests and nuns in my life, the concept of contemplation and prayer was not foreign to me. He described prayer as a method for cleansing oneself "for the important work there is to do". These two ideas - "prayer as cleansing" and "important work to do" - this is where he stayed that evening. I vaguely recall that he prayed openly with me there, but I don't recall the prayer.

Prayers answered

His prayers were probably answered, since he managed to convince me to return the following day. The next 24 hours are a blur, but suffice it to say that with the dramatic and orderly review of hitherto unseen cycles in history, together with the overarching importance of emotional honesty, and lastly the dangerous work needed in order to save the people, in fact the planet, he sucked me - 18-year old sucker with a martyr complex - right in. I was already there: I had guaranteed myself a federal prison sentence and all I expected in return was that my act in some way be able to interfere with the war in Vietnam and thus hopefully save some lives.

The menu of the feast of ideas Philip Burley served was called "The Divine Principle", which in my memory is a general introduction to the notion that evil looms large in the world, in the form of The Devil himself, who has been like messing things up big time ever since the world was created about 5,973 years before, more or less, and the only hope for humanity is the Messiah, and luckily: Philip knew him personally. Astounding news!

This Messiah, the 2nd incarnation of Jesus of Nazareth his very self, was none other than Sun Myung Moon, a Korean individual of the rabidly anti-communist persuasion, according to reports a badly mistreated (by Godless Communism) prisoner in the Korean war, during which time he was tortured but also fundamentally changed by a fantastic thing: in visitations by the Blessed Jesus His Almighty Self, Moon was brought up to speed with the fact that he was in fact the Messiah V.2.0, and that he had come to Earth to save us all from Satan's fire when we had gone astray, oh tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy...

Going on my 2nd month as 18 year old, having grown up in Washington, D.C. and Maryland, in relatively comfortable circumstances, as circumstances go here on the planet, I was relatively protected from most of the realities of the world outside of the D.C. metro area not to speak of the American mind-bubble, but thanks today to the perspective granted by my special interest in the matter of distinguishing between psychosis and transcendence, dependence, compulsive disorders and so on, I can understand how I was sucked into Philip's spell, but though he was incredibly good from the point of view of the youngster I was, and being able as we are to read his relatively current writings on the web, still it is hard to admit that I didn't see through him at once, even at that tender age.

Although I was younger than anyone else in the place, I was asked to move into the house, which at the time was the home of the Unified Family in Washington, D.C. - a.k.a. the Moonies, though that more Californian instantiation of Moon-related hustling had not erupted onto the Washington scene - which was in short a house and a group of devotees that ostensibly served as Sun Myung Moon's most important forward base in the United States, the foundation from which he intended to establish his hegemony over hosts angelic and otherwise, beginning principally in the United States of America.

Big plans

I vaguely recall sensing that Philip trusted me, though I also know that people with the unusual conjunction of propensities he exhibited have an uncanny ability to incite trust in others, to gain their support and cooperation. He had me completely for a while. By the time I left the house for the last time, which took a few weeks, Philip had confided in me that he had been chosen by "True Parent" Moon to one day become President of the United States.

Toward that end, and the other political and spiritual machinations Philip explained would be required to cause those drastic changes in the course of human history Moon envisioned (Heaven on Earth), the Moon people - the Divine Family - in Washington, in particular Philip and a small group of others, had been carefully grooming a number of individuals in the military and in national politics, and while I recall no figures, nor any names, Philip claimed that an appreciable number of influential individuals at the Pentagon and in the rest of the U.S. government were aligned with Sun Myung Moon, many of them openly, and more were to come, and all of these would be taking part in the planned takeover of the country.

Evangelical sucker

I took part in prayer meetings a number of times - it was discovered I could play guitar, which was put to use at these meetings, during which some evangelical music-making or other was going on. I took part in many such meetings, often populated by military people and others who arrived with their chauffeurs - these were formalistic, even ritualized, though the public praying during the meetings was more akin to pentecostal let-it-all-hang-out get-togethers.

Some of the meetings I attended were of the outreach variety - for instance visiting Baptist and other congregations in Baltimore and other parts of Maryland and D.C., even appearing on television with them, guitar in hand. At one meeting we watched some 5,000 Pentecostal True Believers getting it on at a huge hotel - may have been the Washington Hilton - replete with singing in tongues, casting out devils, holy rollers rolling in the aisles, the great raging spirit of some almighty power overflowing, threatening to take us all down with it - many of the details have mercifully slipped into oblivion, though images remain.

Bottom line

It took more than ten years for me to even notice a personal issue these memories describe (see Conflagration), in short to do with the core of my commitment, and more to the point: exactly what of my having taken part in the action against the draft board had survived this onslaught of a simplistic, almost simpleton, view, of history, and of the mechanism of change in human reality? I had moved effortlessly from what supposedly savvy folks would have called left-wing activism to what I not much later learned was an activism about as ultra-right as it comes!

Had my own participation at the level of commitment required to carry out an act of civil disobedience entailing a federal crime - not a one-night stand kind of thing, repercussions being counted in years behind bars - been the result of some distortion in my personality? Extremist by any means necessary? Was it only the ghost of true conscience, a cheap copy of the real thing, a specter finagled into life by my having seen and seemingly understood the example of experienced souls like Mary, Phil, Dan and the rest - people who had been around the world and experienced decades of the dismal realities that spurred them to act?

I saw my act of civil disobedience, before I ever acted on it, as something requiring understanding and backbone. It required stick-to-it-ive-ness as well, and an important corollary to acting was following through: to speak about one's action, to use the interest inspired craziness might generate to point up the contrast between on the one hand the violence of a criminal regime commanding young men - at the threat of prison, or exile, or worse - to pour burning napalm onto the bodies of exquisitely beautiful Asian children, and on the other hand the "violence" of pouring black paint and our own blood onto a drawer full of papers. And after it all, there I was, flirting with reactionary flat-earthers, themselves flirting with not-so-bright brass and like-minded movers and shakers of the scourge America had become.

But these thoughts did not enter the equation for me in the aftermath of what would turn out to be the singularly costly act of conscience I committed in 1969. A few doses of reality, some as comical as my Moonie fling, did strike home. In April of 1969, I fell deeply in love with Diana. Or at least - I fell deeply into bed with Diana - it certainly felt like - love. I was also Diana's hero - we shared a bed in the basement of St. Francis House, before and after the action. A few days after having been DP'd (Divine Principled), I enticed Diana to come along to the Unified Family's D.C. headquarters, where Philip B & Co gladly took on a new aspirant. Diana was hooked in an instant - they had obviously come up with something especially attractive for us 18-year olds.

I was oh so happy, and after Diana had bought it all hook, line and sinker, which took an evening, we made our way home - I was still living at St. Francis House, but spending about half my time at the Unified Family's residence. On the way there we ran into a hermeneutical conundrum, and it was a biggy. The Unified family you see had many weird ideas, the principle one being that absolute chastity for a number of years after having begun one's journey back to the True Parents and etc was, well, de rigeur. And as it turned out, Diana was keeping her part of the bargain with our dear lord, meaning: no more carnality, not for a few years.

What - no more carnality?! Such top-notch carnality, and no more??!! I was flabbergasted, not to say blown away. I worked very hard on Diana, I really did - my recollection is she went along with a session of astoundingly good (now that even forbidden entered the equation) carnality - for old times sake I guess, or maybe it was a mercy jump. But that was it: the gates of heaven-for-the-moment were now officially closed.

Well, the business with Diana was almost the last straw. Somewhere along the way that summer I had a talk with someone else in the Catonsville group - might have been the Melvilles, though I'm not sure, who talked me into something of a corner with the Unified Family stuff, and I began to come to my senses. Experimentally, I pulled my things out of the Unified Family residence - Miss Kim, Moon's resident Korean, was not unhappy to see me go, though Philip was - and I began to live full-time at St. Francis House.

Within a day or two we had an FBI bust - they charged in, might have been 15 agents, guns drawn, and held one against the head of a small child of one of the residents (Ann S?), and I think they proceeded to arrest someone for refusing induction. I had had enough of D.C. for a bit, and lit out to the west coast. That adventure entailed a visit to the residence of the Unified Family in San Francisco, whose address I'd gotten from Philip Burley

I was breaking bail by being outside of D.C. and Maryland, but had taken part in some discussions about the relative merits of actually doing one's time or not, and had begun to feel a little bit of doubt creep into my general awareness. I had thought to give myself a break for a few weeks from the D.C. scene, and after having been told that nobody would get too badly frazzled economically if I did not return to Baltimore at all for my court hearing, I was vaguely considering leaving for Canada. An argument would later make the rounds, to the effect that accepting one's time, though once part and parcel of the civil disobedience bargain, was a little like aiding and abetting the miscarriage of justice it entailed, and its toes were wiggling, vaguely visible behind the curtain of Thoreauian respectability.

When I got to San Francisco, I went first to see the people at the Unified Family, who also lived in incredible surroundings - beautiful old Victorian mansion, about the size of the D.C. place, but much classier. The ambience however was very different - very hassled, very uptight, lot of suits walking around, each more important than the next. They took me into a room and we talked, and although I had a written letter of introduction from Philip Burley, after having told them my story and asked for some help for a few days so I could sort my head out about what I wanted to do, they made it abundantly clear that they would do no such thing, "Good luck, buddy, but get out!" They would give me five minutes to make tracks before they called the police. So I made tracks. And that was the end of the Unified Family for me, True Parents and all.

Freaky fundamentalist trance now ended, I had a couple contacts in the Bay area, one of which led to a beautiful nun and via her to an old monastery on Stanyan Street, where I stayed a few days. She was waiting on tables and go-go-dancing to send money back east to support draft board actions, and she took me to the monastery. Girls were definitely not permitted, but when the brothers woke up one morning to a kitchen full of fresh pancakes and bacon, they let her hang out.

It was at the Stanyan Street monastery that I met Bernie, friend of friends in Ohio. Bernie was an incredibly generous and funny priest from Cleveland, and he let me tag along for an amazing journey, that originally was going to go to Vancouver. Riding up the Californian coast from San Francisco I had a lot of time to walk and think in pristine nature: I was getting cold feet in the face of possibly-permanent exile, and by the time we reached Seattle, streets still slightly cluttered with police in riot gear, after some antiwar something-or-other, I had re-oriented toward taking up where I left off when I'd been derailed by the Moonies - it must have been around the time "The eagle has landed!" hit the airwaves. So I ended up heading back east with Bernie, but not before a week or so in the wilds of the Rockies, Glacier National Park, Cutbank Pass, incoherent snatches of radio about some disaster area in upstate New York ("Where's Woodstock?"), herds of wild horses, eagles, scouting for forest fires on horseback, fat trout competing to take our hooks, sleeping out in Montana canyons lit up by that same Full Moon, and bats, coyote, marmots, deer, a few late night birds, huge moths - every instant crystalline, reverberating in my brain cage yet today.

In the East where the Sun comes up - there lies prison - what was I headed for?

Harkness’ All Souls Trilogy was one of the first adult fantasy series I ever read, and I loved every minute of it. A mixture of paranormal fantasy, romance, and history, it was so fascinating and such a captivating read. I’m so excited that there is another book in this world — this time following a different character, Marcus MacNeil —because I’ve just missed this world so much. If you’re a fan of Outlander, Trueblood, or even Twilight (but are an older reader) this is definitely not a story that you should miss.

11. Wildcard (Warcross: 2): Marie Lu (goodreads) (book depository)

There haven’t been a ton of sequels that I’ve been excited for this year, but Wildcardis an exception. I absolutely loved the VR world Lu created in Warcross when I read it last year. Erika Chen, Hideo, and the Phoenix Riders were all dynamic, great characters that I loved reading about and follow through the Warcross Championships. After the huge cliffhanger at the end of Warcross, I’ve been dying to get my hands on the sequel, and now the time has finally come and I couldn’t be more excited.

I Owe It To You To Stay True

Hi Everyone, Wow. Tell this amazing little boys' story... Well, he is, was, will always be. His name is Isaac, and he was born August 17th, 2009. A truly amazing day. He was an awesome kid, the biggest, weighing in at 9lbs 5oz at birth. One of the first things I could notice in my pregnancy was "wow, this is a big baby!" He grew at a healthy pace throughout, and we welcome him into the world, at 10:33am August 17th, 2009. Isaac loved exploration & discovery. He was curious and excited about every single thing around him. As mom, I wanted him to naturally need me more, but he just didn't. He knew where he wanted to go, and he went... shuffling around like a cute weeble-wobble toy. He knew what he wanted to eat or drink... whether it was white milk, brown milk or red milk (lol, that was juice). Hearing how he would say in a sweet roar, "Mommy, I love you." With so much love all around him, naturally Isaac became a big brother in less than 11 months. July 2nd, 2010 our family welcomed, Little Noah. There was no better fulfillment to see Isaac and Noah be as close as two peas in a pod. Their bond was inseparable. Isaac took care to be as kind and gentle to Noah, as a brown bear to a cub. Isaac was the whirl of the gears at the start of the work day. He was my promise in this world that there was hope in men leading the way, strong & wise. As euphoric as our coexistence as mother and child were, we were able to spend one final Christmas together, full of laughs, memories, normalcy and peace... until it would all change forever. New Year's Day, 2013 just felt different... just not in the ways it should have felt given the restoration of a new year. But more over, a feeling that something within my core was not in balance. Something near and dear to me was very wrong. As I rush to my children, I see Isaac in distress while sleeping. He twist and twirls as to throw himself off the bed completely. What was happening so severe to a 3 year old??? With all the knowledge I had as a mother in that moment, I scooped him up without a word and rushed him to the E.R. Upon arrival, he is in continuous head related distress. I fear and worry as I hold him and watch nurses, doctors and patients scurry around us. No One bothered really that my child's pain is growing each minute. He was finally visited by a doctor, so nice yet so unattached if I may say. He asked Isaac what is wrong... Isaac feebly say "My head hurts." Isaac was discharged Jan 2, 2013 with a diagnosis of swollen lymph nodes glands... take him home let him suck on lemons or sour candy I was told, as I listened ... very reluctant to take him anywhere away from the hospital perimeter. Isaac was not given a scan to determine if there was a much more grave issue and ultimately there was. Isaac was seen in the hospital 12 times within two (2) weeks. Unfathomable, that he had to suffer for so long with no professional help or further observation. I worried so badly, so despairingly for him. He was in nonstop pain. Jan 18th, 2013, Isaac had a stroke in his sleep due to the pressure on his brain caused by a softball size tumor on his right cortex. After rushing to the hospital (with the help of the amazing firefighters in ward 5 Washington DC), we discovered just how horrific this really was. He had a brain tumor with a secondary rare blood cancer, Hodgkin's Lymphoma. The tumor had been steadily becoming more active by the weeks after Christmas 2012. As over 50 family members file into this small conference room, in the nurse station of the NICU department, we watch a short shy oncologist come in, bewildered by the sheer numbers that showed to hear the status of our little Isaac. He started, "I am sorry for the circumstance but I will not be able to take questions because of the numbers in attendance. But I have examined the CT Scans provided on the screen and my professional opinion is that this child will not survive 24 hours. Have you ever imagined such a combination of words? The room went numb. Sorrow, confusion, anguish and denial all set in at once. What happened? Why? When? But I'm his mom, I've got to fix it. I'm the one that MUST find the answer, cure his pain. I MUST!!! WHAT STOP SAY THIS ISN'T SO I MUST!!! I was and have since... been broken to shards. Isaac was in a coma with a shunt draining the fluid, relieving the pressure of the tumor until Easter 2013... when he opened his eyes for the first time in months. I praised and rejoiced in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and Isaac, himself. My heart opened as the heaven gates will I imagine on judgement day. I was elated, and a bit naive in thinking we were out of the red zone. But Isaac never regained his mobility, his speech or his cognitive abilities never returning. After the brain surgery, the tumor came back with a vengeance. Broke my heart in two, is what it did. Day in and day out watching him become less and less of the son you knew. Having to watch the horrific pain had to be the absolute worst thing I've ever felt in my entire life. To feel completely helpless, even useless at times, when all you want to do is snap your fingers, make it all better and be the superhero our children always assumes we are. But Isaac s' state continued to decline and ultimately he gave way to his battle 6:13am, July 1st, 2013. I owe every fiber of good within me to my son. For I would never have been the woman, here, writing this before you with strength and depth today. He loved like love was a force to be reckoned with. It was unstoppable, just as when he would barrel towards me when he saw me coming up the walkway from work. It was tender and precious, as it would feel as he laid next to me and he watched Toy Story, his favorite movie, until he feel asleep... every night. He was my Buzz Light Year. His spirit was to infinity and far beyond. I miss my son, and I will find myself here for the rest of my days.

While I wait patiently for hurricane Irma to barge in on FL next week, I might as well do this question-y thing that my fellow Turn fan tagged me in! Might be stuff you were always curious about OR alternatively stuff you couldn't care less about, but hey. Here it is.

I think there's supposed to be 100 questions. I started numbering them, but because I'm spacy I totally forgot to do the rest. So, here you go.

I'm tagging: @lou-who, @dying-suffering-french-stalkers, and anyone else who wants to do this (because my computer is glitching when I try to tag).

1. The meaning behind my url: dolfinsatdawn. This was me trying to upgrade to something more artsy sounding but still had something from my childhood obsession with dolphins it.

2. A picture of me: EHHHHHH. I'm kinda squeamish about this. If ya'll really REALY want to see a picture maybe I will.

3. How many tattoos i have and what they are: Lol I don't do the whole "permanent on your skin" stuff. I do love henna tattoos though. Anything semi-permanent is super fun.

4. Last time i cried and why: I cried when I found out my grandpa was in the hospital last week. He's okay though. I'm going to visit him soon.

5, Favorite band: THE BEATLES. Hands down. I also like a lot of classical and film scores so, the only real band I love 100% is the Beatles.

6. Biggest turn offs: Not respecting my personal space. It takes me a REALLY long time to get used to people (especially boys), so touching without my permission is really upsetting and people who do are immediately on my NOPE list. Also, men who constantly talk about money. I REALLY hate that. I don't care how much you make compared to everyone else.

7. Top 5 (insert subject): Top five places I want to travel to next! 1. Tokyo! 2. Washington State 3. Germany!!! 4. China! 5. Nepal!

8. Favorite place to be alone? I love doing everything alone. I'm so happy to go out and just chill without the stress of other people. I love going on walks alone especially in really pretty places like beaches.

9. Biggest turn ons: umm....I dunno sense of humor? Kind eyes....Classy clothes are a MUST.

16. A fact about my life: I've spent 13 years in the same house and I'm totally okay with that. (Yes I commuted to college from home and no I didn't regret it AT ALL.)

23. Someone you miss: My grandma. She was the most fun person and I could call her any time and we'd talk for hours. She died in February and I miss her all the time.

24. What’s one thing you regret? I regret how judgemental I was in high-school. It caused a lot of problems with my best friend. We're okay now, and I've apologized, but it caused a lot of wasted stress and fights we didn't need to have.

27. One insecurity: Body image. I used to be very athletic and I miss that a lot. I feel really gross and lazy. I also stress eat a LOT.

Have you ever been to a club? I went to a boat party once (I hated it) and they played that weird club music so that's the closest I've ever been to a club. I go to sports bars all the time for wings though.

Have you ever felt an earthquake? Nope you don't get those down here in FL really.

Have you ever touched a snake? I LOVE SNAKES. They feel so fun. Snakes need love all the time.

Have you ever ran a red light? Yes. It was 2 am. I was coming home from a theater show I was in. (They kept me late painting sets) and I turned left on red without stopping because I didn't even register that the light was red until I had already done it.

Have you ever been in a car accident? Yes. They totaled my car. Scariest thing ever.
