Watching Luffy's awakening to flood my brain with endorphins the way tired employees at soulsucking corporate jobs drink coffee to stay awake

& the drug thing sounds like a bit of a cop out on paper but like. part of the reason i wrote it that way is because it would cause problems for them at times & it's not a Universal Fixer. it can't do everything.
They can only go down once every 20-30 minutes, bc it's not super fast. they can't even really move while it's active.
also it does some Fucked up Shit to their memory. bc they effectively "die", rapid "deaths" can cause their memory to scramble bc of the whole. "life flashing before your eyes" thing. places, names, etc get confused
& a lot of phoenix's survival is still based on skill! they're very good at their job! the only times this is really "relevant" are during the final levels of each game because That's the sort of situation in which it would kick in. & they wouldn't have survived if they weren't good at what they do anyway, it's not a "fix all problems" situation
specifically
-Death Engine: Explosion was considered "lethal damage", knocked them out until they reentered the atmosphere. During the fall from reentry and into the ocean, they were only barely conscious. they held the transport shuttle together w telekinesis, but they weren't very aware of it. They still had to spend several months in recovery bc of extensive burns on their arms, radiation poisoning, their right arm had been shattered, and a pretty nasty concussion. They couldn't remember most of the fall, & for a while afterwards they kept thinking they were much younger than they are (~25, they're 30)
-Peace Summit: they slowed the elevator with telekinesis to make the fall survivable, but that was tiring enough on its own, and while they were limping out of the building they got smacked in the head by a brick (not dead-center at least bc they redirected it but) & a metal support strut went. into their side. They were able to get themself upright pretty quick after & drag themself to the control point, but they laid at the door for a few days before being able to move again (also at the end of the third game, their ribs still ache & they still have an impressive gash on their head)
-KBOOM: This one is interesting, but basically the implant melted down due to being stressed & the kinesium uh. leaked. into their body. which would usually be fatal. however the drug gave it enough time to adapt & so they survived, although they now just have kinesium Floating Around in their system. (They briefly managed to freeze the cabin in place so Roxana could grab them, but it wasn't long).
& plus you do have other knock on effects for them as a person. like. every death fucks with them a little bit more & it's led to a vague dehumanization on Their End Only, bc they don't feel right. also again it only heals enough to make wounds non lethal, and it has no attached pain reduction, so it's not like they get to skip out on feeling their injuries (they have an astonishingly high pain tolerance Because Of This).
also i can do weird shit with it. poison takes longer to work for example. & man can they fucking Feel It bc the drug tries to counteract it & that also. isn't pleasant. sensory-wise

I saw your post about AxSpA and getting medication for it (a few months late I know) and the only thing my rheumatologist ever prescribed was ibuprofen or a different nsaid, the best one was etoricoxib, the only minor inconvenience is that I am allergic to it and had to find out the hard way. She doesn’t want to put me on immunosuppressants until I show signs of fusion (cause of insurance in my country so switching to a different rheumy wouldn’t work) so yea, I haven’t gotten anything that *truly* helps
hey sorry this is a fucking nightmare. do you have like patient advocates accessible to you you should ABSOLUTELY be on a biologic or some equivalent the goal is to PREVENT fusion in the first place. i've been on cimzia and then simponi for years without fusion and am grateful for it every day i. man i'm really sorry if there's Anything you can do i really do recommend and support pushing as hard as you can for real treatment. it's so lucky to be able to get a diagnosis Without fusion your rheum should be taking advantage of that to help you ☹️☹️☹️
re the rest of it i'm banned from otc nsaids because i'm on celebrex lol. SAD. sorry about your allergy that just happened to a friend of mine as well and it really sucks 😭😭😭

This is going to sound so dramatic but I truly cannot do retail work anymore. I am fucking sick and tired. My job used to be fun and I love my coworkers but I shouldn’t feel dread going there every shift. I shouldn’t feel sad after every shift.
Like genuinely I would rather die than to continue to do this shit. These antidepressants are really awesome and they’re doing their job but p much every shift I’ve had after some rude ass motherfuckers come in our store I find myself slipping back into negative feelings and neg self talk. Like this is legit not good for my mental health lmao!
Enough of this I just. Feel sad rn sorry
