i genuinely don’t know what happened and i think it’s because the combo of the plushy promo art + the Ain Soph Aur Hologram concert reprogrammed my brain to two years ago, but anyway jokes about wmtsb under the cut and obviously spoilers about it (also one of them is slightly n///sfw)

ok first what’s been on my mind all day is, on the tone of this textpost:

in my dream scenario where Lucifer is brought back to life somehow and then ends up being the one insisting on redeeming Belial because he feels like he failed him and he wants to have him bloom in a more loving environment the same way he did for Sandalphon, which drives Sandalphon completely mad but he can’t say no to Lucifer’s puppyeyes, so Sandalphon does the minimum of effort to not blow up at Belial’s face, all while Belial is clearly always trying to start a fight with him and anyway,

Belial: i don’t see why you’re so mad with me Sanchan. It’s all thanks to me that you got a head from my brother :D

and next we know an explosion happens on the Cypher so hard that both of them have to be lectured by Noa out of all people.

(** also disclaimer that Belial and Lucifer are not exactly brothers/twins since Primals are not really made to see each other as family except for the ones that are meant to be one core together (see: esp the Messenger angels like Halluel&Malluel and Iz&Az, or for primals like Morrigna who share one core as triplets, but don’t apply to all of the duo-primals re, see, Zephyrus who are lovers), however i find their relationship infinitely more tragic and funnier if we picture them as siblings (as they were the two first primals and were created together with purpose to complement each others) and my headcanons about them will revolve around that because i think it’s funny, have a nice day)

2 questions/discussions (that arent related but I think its ok lol). 1. Sorta devils advocate/but also sincere question re: the “neither henry nor cindy faced actual consequences”. Exactly what kind of consequences are we talking about. IRL ones like jail/probation/etc? Bc otherwise it feels like, at least with Henry (and like you said it was kinda cheated by being cut short), we did get a semi redemptive “did fucked up shit, but am now attempting to rectify and do better moving forward” arc.1/2

Like what else can we ask for (that’s not a legal consequence kind of thing)? Isn’t the whole point that the sum total of your being isn’t defined by one moment or period of time. That we can and should be allowed room to do better? On the other hand I get it like oh here we go redeeming another misogynistic pos. But idk...

(i put that part in here bc it’s relevant to this specific question) i’m not the poster of the textpost ur talking abt but. i’m willing to answer anyway bc it gives me a nice base to the discussion i want to have abt him

i’ll go into the implications of writing a character like henry another time so for now i’ll try to keep this as in-universe contained as possible for the sake of not over-meta-ing myself

the school didn’t do anything, that we know of, about henry/cindy releasing yolanda’s pictures. literally everybody blamed yolanda. she was stripped of all social standing and her class presidency. henry had been bullying her at that table for god knows how long and there’s no sign of any teacher or authority figure sticking up for yolanda. i know a lot of this is implication rather than fact, but i find it a lot easier to believe that small town nebraska high school took a stand against yolanda, rather than with her. yolanda mentions being entirely alone, not having anyone in her corner; this, assumedly, includes the school. whether over the releasing the pictures incident alone or not, the school should have stepped in and intervened in henry’s bullying of yolanda. again, all introspection, but it’s a lot more believable than a teacher standing up for her, given her personality & things she’s said abt her situation. the only one who i could even vaguely make an argument for is principal bowin, who took the mic and tried to shut everyone up i guess, but we never see bowin & yolanda truly interact again, assuming that she also abandoned yolanda after discovering the whole situation. henry never got proper reprimandation for the bullying / sharing the pictures not even in a legal sense but just in any sense at all (rereading this i realize i keep saying henry bc my rant is more centered around him & his portrayal but cindy too, given they both visibly bully her in the series & in no way is cindy off the hook in this; i just see people excuse henry for his behaviour WAY more than i see ppl excuse cindy for what she did to yolanda. actually i haven’t seen anyone at all excuse her for what she did. funny how that works)

the key thing here is that henry dying doesn’t make up for the bad shit he did to yolanda. they’re two different moral scales. i know he had the whole “i am sorry” thing and yeah i truly do believe that he’s sorry, but saying that doesn’t make up for it. yolanda was ostracized from her school, her family, her entire community. henry saying sorry was like placing a bandaid on a broken window. it doesn’t fix the entire window. “but it’s sticky!! it helps!!!” does it ‘help’? sure. does it absolve him of, idk, throwing the brick through the window? no.

henry died bc he didn’t stand w his father. because he wanted to try & be better. which was a start, sure. his death redeemed his character, not his situation w yolanda. the fact of the matter is, his death, imo, doesn’t affect his morality over the yolanda situation at all. two different moral issues.

to get into it in a bit more of a meta-writer sense, the writing of that whole situation just irks me, if i’m being honest. there’s a hispanic girl whose clearly immigrant family is highly religious and therefore they shun her for something that isn’t her fault? it feels very. stereotypical. as i’m not hispanic i won’t speak on that part (good article here that does! i don’t entirely agree w everything it says but it’s notes on the writing of yolanda as character of colour r top notch) but on the immigrant note i’m just ! so sick of immigrants being villainized in dc media but also this idea that immigrant families are obsessed w/ the image of their family and first generations having to hold themselves to the impossible standard that their immigrant parents set up is just,, tired? give me loving immigrant families lmao anyway rant over

the funny thing is, the way i see it, is that henry was defined by precisely two things for the first like 7 episodes; being an asshole to yolanda, and being brainwave’s kid. the whole point IS that ur entire being isn’t defined by one period, except the writers literally wrote henry that way (which i don’t approve of, but that’s what they did). unfortunately henry isn’t real and his actions are not real and he’s written by a bunch of writers in a writers room and THEY reduced him to that. he was only really given that ample space to breathe and grow during his last two episodes alive, which just wasn’t enough to atone for what the writers/henry did to yolanda, especially for me.

— 🤠 so y’all want to make a gif... by dumbassfc 🤠

so per request, your resident dumbass has showed up to teach y’all how i make my gifs, namely this one below :))

before we get into it, you’re going to need:

photoshop + convert to timeline / convert to video timeline option !

a high quality video clip, preferably 1080 but 720 will do !

patience !

+ optional: a psd and/or sharpening atn of your choosing !

this tutorial is extremely long n image heavy, even by my standards, so my apologies in advance, especially to mobile users ! if it helps you in any way, consider gassing me up by liking or hitting that reblog button. thank u and goodnight !

1. first and foremost, you’re going to need photoshop downloaded with the convert to timeline / convert to video timeline option. for this tutorial, i’m going to be using cs5 but with some vague handwaving and a little extra effort, you can make this work for cs6 or something like cc18. if you need a download link, you can check the ‘photoshop download’ tag on tumblr dot com or check out a blog like yeahps or itsphotoshop for links. this is another good link. use at your own risk and always have some anti-virus software handy, just in case. i’ve never gotten badly burnt off a link, but i know people who have. exercise caution and always browse the notes before downloading anything!

2. if at any point you’ve got a question, my askbox is always open! i’m not a photoshop expert by any means and the majority of what i know has been self taught through years of practice and patience, but i can try to help you out in whatever way that i can. if you send me an ask un-anonymously, i can reply back to you directly instead of publishing it publicly. just some food 4 thought !

SOME BASICS:

tumblr has a 3mb limit for photosets and the old standard 2mb limit for gifs added to normal textposts. if your gif is over 3mb (or 2mb), you’re screwed.

the ‘new’ width dimensions are: 540px for one gif across, 268px for two gifs across, and 177px / 178px / 177px for three gifs across. (for three gif wide gifsets, the middle gif will be 178px.) height doesn’t matter. if you use the old dimensions (500px, 250px, 160px), your gifs will look stretched and a little distorted unless an individual user has the dimension adjusting script installed on their browser. use the old dimensions at your own discretion.

PART ONE: MAKING YOUR GIF —

1. you’re going to need a high quality video clip. i’m using THIS one from youtube! if you’re downloading from youtube or a similar site, you’re going to need to download it using something like clipconverter (my personal favorite) or keepvid. converting and downloading is pretty self explanatory on both sites. remember that you want the video to be AT LEAST 720px and in a quicktime movie format (.mov / .mp4 / .mpv / .avi ) -- i usually try to stick with .mov or .mp4.

2. the next step is opening your video clip so you can select what you want to gif! so open up photoshop and go to file → import → video frames to layers.

3. select the clip you’d like to use from its folder → load.

4. something will pop up that looks like this:

make sure the “selected range only” is selected, as well as “make frame animation” as pictured above. following the instructions of holding down the shift key while selecting the portion of the video you’d like to gif, you’re going to end up with something like this:

as you can see, a small portion of the clip has been highlighted on the bar at the bottom. this is the portion that we’re going to gif! click ‘ok’ and let it load into frames. (note: if your clip is long, sometimes i like to click ‘limit to every 2 frames’ to cut out every other frame while still maintaining the overall integrity of the clip. i use this trick a lot for slow-mo clips. because our clip here is so short, we don’t need to. eventually, though, you might have to!)

5. now that everything has loaded, your screen should look something like this.

at the bottom, you have your frame animation. on the side, you have your layers. each layer has a corresponding frame -- layer 1 is frame 1, and so on and so forth.

6. now we’re going to crop our gif! select the cropping tool and crop to the size you’d like -- i’m going with 268px x 150px.

7. now that you’ve cropped your gif, it’s time to adjust the frame delay. the frame delay controls how fast your gif moves. i like to use anything from 0.05 - 0.07, but it’s really up to you and your own personal preference. here’s a couple of examples of the differences in frame animation speed:

1 -- 0.03 seconds:

2 -- 0.05 seconds:

3 -- 0.07 seconds:

as you can see, the differences are subtle but they are noticeable. i tend to find that 0.03 moves a little too fast and looks unnatural, whereas 0.05 and 0.07 both appear more natural in speed.

to adjust the frame delay, select all of your frames → click on the small numbers at the bottom (for an example 0.05 sec.) → adjust the frame delay to your liking → hit ok !

8. now that you’ve cropped your gif and adjusted the frame delay, you could leave it as is and it’s a perfectly good gif !

but it doesn’t look all that similar to the final product we’re going for, so we still need to sharpen and color it !

PART TWO: SHARPENING YOUR GIF —

1. now this step can get a little confusing, and it is absolutely crucial here that you have the ‘convert to timeline’ option. if you don’t have the convert to timeline option, you’re shit outta luck and i can’t really help you. you can conveniently convert to timeline one of two ways, which i’ve labelled 1 n 2 in the picture below. 1. select all frames → click the three lines button with the small downward arrow next to it → convert to timeline. 2. select all frames → convert to timeline button.

your ps window should now look something like this:

as you can see, your frame animation has been replaced with the timeline.

2. now we need to convert the layers to a smart object. select all layers → convert to smart object.

3. now we can sharpen the gif by applying smart filters! filter → sharpen → smart sharpen.

these are what my settings look like -- 500%, 0.3 radius, remove gaussian blur, more accurate:

now you’re going to go back to filter → blur → gaussian blur. these are my settings:

right click on the gaussian blur smart filter → edit smart filter blending options → adjust the opacity to 35% as seen here:

so back to filter → sharpen → smart sharpen with slightly different settings this time:

and now you’ve sharpened your gif! provided you followed the method above, it should look something like this, which is already a huge step up from the unsharpened gifs above:

4. you can sharpen your gifs by using actions, too! for example, i’m going to show you how to use this action by zayonces. you’re going to need to load your actions. so go to the actions tab → that three lined button with the downward arrow again → load actions → select your action from the designated folder → press play after selecting the action !

actions are basically shortcuts to avoid doing the whole process manually. with the action i showed you how to use above, the gif will look something like this:

still good ! now all that’s left to do is color this gif !

PART THREE: COLORING YOUR GIF —

this part really comes down to personal preference. i’ve changed how i’ve colored my gifs a lot over the years depending on what styles are “in” and what’s considered trendy. my colorings are different based on what i’m giffing, as well: i have specific styles for hockey, specific styles for kpop, specific styles for football and so on and so forth. just mess around with adjustment layers and find out what works for you and what you like! if YOU like it, that’s what matters.

1. we’re going to start of with some curves to brighten the gif to start with! i prefer using curves layers for brightness over actual brightness adjustment layers, but again, that’s personal preference. so click adjustment → curves.

from now on, i’m just going to show you my various settings in the order that i applied them:

with the exposure layer, i set the layer to soft light and adjusted the opacity as seen here:

this is the standard black and white gradient, again, set to soft light and adjusted to 15% opacity.

and then i took a premade psd (this psd by shaymitchell) and placed it on top, adjusting the opacity of the entire folder to 25% as seen here:

and you should have the final completed product that looks like this !

gosh i dont remember,, i might have heard misery business/decode when i spent my 8 year old days watching random music videos on my dad’s old first gen ipod, but i dont have a clear cut memory of that per say so it could have also been aint it fun/still into you playing on the radio when i was 11. as for the first song that really got me into them, it was ignorance.

that would be settle down, and it’s always been settle down, and i cant really explain why. it’s just a song that im never not in the mood for i guess, and it’s always stood out to me as just one of their grooviest songs.

ok let’s see - a good place to start would probably be asking @suggestionpositivity for a promo, just so people can find you. also follow lots of suggestion blogs you like - it can give u a better feel of what direction you want your blog to take. (some great ones are @atlassuggestion @poeticsuggestion @ebullientsuggestion @cantabilesuggestion @yellowsuggestion @lovelysuggestion @rosegoldsuggestion @loyalsuggestion @littlemoonsuggestions - there are others that i’m forgetting but these are off the top of my head!)

there are no rules to suggestion blogging - some are all textposts, some are almost all pictures etc., some are a mix of both, and then there are a lot that are mainly rp blogs. but generally most are textpost-oriented with some deviances (like mine).

as for theme - a lot of suggest blogs just go with solid color/minimalist themes, but it’s up to you! a good thing to think about is the feeling of your blog & the color you think best represents it; i chose blue bc i Love blue and it makes me happy. if you’re looking for simple icons you can check out @colorfulgradients or @automaticpastels or other color bots!

it’s also a good idea to have tags - some misc., and some for function. i generally tag my stuff #suggestion / #not a suggestion, and since i’m positivity-oriented i tag anything that isn’t positive #negative. i’ve also got misc. tags, like #t, #about ✨, #✨✨, etc… as you go along you’ll figure out your own tags, but these are some of mine.

mmm other things - stay away from pe/aceand/coolvibes and her buddies,,, & also celebrating milestones is Fun and Cool so do it bc it’s great!!

finally - have fun & interact! the #suggestionchain tag is your friend. and don’t be discouraged if you don’t seem to be getting anywhere at first! when you first start it’ll feel like you’re invisible but give it a month or two and you’ll get there.
