The Lair (2022) | Action, Horror, Comedy | with Charlotte Kirk, Jonathan Howard, Leon Ockenden...
“We’re the storm, mate.”
The plot: When a pilot is shot down, she finds an abandoned underground bunker where deadly man-made creatures – half human, half alien – are awakened.
I had this one on my to-watch ever since the trailer came out, I didn’t have high expectations since most horror movies nowadays end up being a huge let down. The trailer in question though gave off House of Ashes vibes (monsters, soldiers being stuck with them underground), so my interest was definitely piqued.
The movie itself I would describe as Comedy horror, it’s not the type that would seriously scare you. The dialogue is a bit goofy at times (in a good way) and succeeded at making me laugh (I so rewatched some scenes), the cast was great, my most favorite character was hands down the hilarious Sergeant Oswald Jones (played by Leon Ockenden).
Without spoiling anything,The Lair was a fun ride and I highly recommend giving it a watch.
Also, that “heroically” walking towards the jeep scene totally screamed “this is now a video game, choose your character for the fight”. :D

I think one of the funniest things about Heavy Rain is the level of reaction the players have to Norman’s Boston accent.
Like, so many people in the fandom are like “T H I C C accent, how are you doing NAHHHHMAN”
And I’m just sitting over here laughing my ass off because I was born just outside of Boston (most of my family was) and y’all have no idea how subtle that accent is; it could have been way thicker and more over-the-top.
Which I honestly find really impressive, because Norman’s actor (Leon Ockenden) is British, and regional accents can be tricky to nail when you’re not inherently familiar with them. Clearly the man practiced up before doing his lines.
