i posted some leafhawk au fanart a few years ago, so here's what i think the three would've looked like if hawkfrost had been their father instead of crowfeather!

hollyleaf looks about the same aside from brown spotting here and there, as well as keeping her canon name (however a small running joke within thunderclan is that spiderleg is an unwilling dad yet again lmao)

jayfeather is the kit that looks the most like hawkfrost, and his name would either be frostfeather (like how leafpool wanted her kits subtly name them after crowfeather to acknowledge him as their dad) or frostbird!

lionblaze is given the eagle- prefix instead (hawks and eagles are both birds of prey ykyk) and seems like the perfect physical blend between tigerstar, brambleclaw, and tigerheart

the only things i can think of for my interpretation of the au is that the litter could be perceived as squirrelflight and brambleclaw's a little more palatable than the wild black + silver tabby + golden tabby coming from a ginger mother and brown tabby father from the canon lmao

the clan takes note of jaykit / frostkit looking a lot like hawkfrost and lionkit / eaglekit looking eerily like the first tigerstar, but it's merely brushed off as brambleclaw's genes being more dominant and try not to bring it up

hawkfrost DEFINITELY visits his sons in their dreams, but avoids his daughter for some reason i haven't concluded yet :/ also in my version of the au hollyleaf has dovewing's powers because why tf not

I am very amused by the ship of "Descendants of the Firestar x Descendants of the Tigerstar" and under the influence of the song below, these two immediately popped into my head. And I really like the ship-dynamic themselves. Strict and responsible Brambleclaw and wild, reckless Squirrelflight. They are contrasted by the soft and shy Leafpool and the slightly cheeky, but at the same time romantic Hawkfrost (Just let's say it's AU, okay?)

designs for the leafhawk au…

notes on the designs vv

- overrall i tried to reference their existing merch palettes to make it easier for myself.. i also tried to basically adjust their canon mini designs to be simplified and to my preference

- i wanted the tails to be related to their names. so leafpool for example has a tail that looks like leaves attached to it and hawkfrost has a beak-like looking tail

- jayfeather i immediately decided to have the closest pattern to leafpool cus i feel like it suited him more and made him closer to leafpool. i also changed his name from jayfeather to kestrelwing as it was fitting for the bird portion of his name to be closer to a hawk then a crow. also the ‘wing’ part is actually reference to mothwing ^_^

- i wanted hollyleaf to have some white markings to make reference to scourge and also to have her most similar to squirrelflight. i also made her the oldest because i believe it would be a bigger blow to be the oldest without the blessings…

- i tried to vary the bodytypes. so all the kids inherited the taller and bigger gene from hawkfrost’s side but they vary in body. jayfeather is more slim and sleek. lionblaze is bulky and topheavy. hollyleaf is a nice balance.

- leafpool is easily round and soft to me

- everyone has a vague combo of leafpool and hawkfrost’s bangs, i decided against jayfeather having bangs cus i felt it suited him more for his mane to be pulled back. i also gave jayfeather a lazy eye!

i cant be bothered rn to write up everything abt this au but i just wanted to get the designs down on paper.

Do you have any Headcanons for the Leafhawk ship?? What about an Au where he comes to thunderclan to help raise his kits .. maybe the whole tiger dream thing is actually his own stressed delusions .

That’s a really cool idea!

In my personal interpretation, I feel like Hawk would probably approach Leafpool after she’s earned her full name by finding the Moonpool, basically making her a very important and influential cat he would want on his side, so he charms her and eventually does come to begin to love her - which acts as an extra push for him to start trying to get power. I feel like he would kill Mistyfoot and get promoted as deputy, then tell Leafpool that once he’s leader, she can come and be RiverClan’s medicine cat alongside Mothwing (who btw tries to get Leafpool to stay away from her brother without spelling out how dangerous he can be but Leafpool just thinks Moth doesn’t want her dating her brother) and by his decree she will be allowed to be with him since his word will be the warrior code. Leafpool might be a bit a little apprehensive about all this and might question why Hawkfrost is so sure this all might be soon but her love for him leads her to ignore the warning signs.

The badgers attack while Leafpool is meeting Hawkfrost (I feel like she would have to do the legwork since she’s a medicine cat so her travelling across WindClan territory would be questioned less), and that leads her to tell Hawkfrost she needs to be with her clan now that Cinderpelt’s dead. Hawkfrost would be furious and let his charming facade slip, at least temporarily, before composing himself and asking Leafpool if she can train up an apprentice to take her place in ThunderClan and then come to RiverClan once he’s leader. Leafpool is a bit shaken up by seeing this side of him and tries to avoid him from that point forward, but he finds excuses to talk to her and grovels and jests, and charms her again, but she’s more cautious this time and doesn’t agree to the apprentice thing with him, this causes some subtle signs of him getting angry and frustrated at this which Leafpool picks up on now. Before she knows whether she needs to break things off with him or not, he dies at the lakeshore after failing to kill Firestar, Leafpool is left completely heartbroken since she still loved him despite everything.

Sorry I just wrote out a whole AU there but I got thinking about it lol - it’s not something I would personally ship but it is a relationship that I think could act as good character exploration.

so we got. we got tawnyfern right yeah i think they were briefly apprentices together in thunderclan so theres Opportunities anyways they remeet at a gathering n get close again.......... do whatever u want with tawny/rowan and dust/fern maybe they still exist maybe they dont im just thinking about the gays over here

and then bramblecrow + nightsquirrel is an interesting situation but im pretty sure it could work fine .... my typical bramblecrow au has the situation playing out as normal except bramblesquirrel break up with a mutual agreement of it being the right thing .... then bramblecrow happens slowly . so maybe in this messy au they kinda unofficially split sometime when the three are apprentices  or new warriors or something !!! but still love and care for their children. does bramble know abt their real parents? u decide lol again i cant think straight rn

as for leafpool................ welllllllll leafash is kind of weird bc he had feelings 4 squirrelflight but i think theres potential  ?? also, like, he literally tried 2 kill her biological children soooo. thats funky 

OR theres like mothpool or hawkleaf but in the same universe as bramblesquirrel?? a little odd since hawk/moth are related to bramble, and leaf is squrriel’s sister. so like obviously leaf and bramble wouldnt be related but they’d be like.... double in-laws(????). idk maybe there can be mothpool or hawkleaf AFTER the bramblesquirrel break so theres no clashing

Leafhawk?? So unique, i never heard of that ship before, can you talk a lil more about it?

MY PARTNER, @talkingtalltales GETS FULL CREDIT FOR THIS IDEA. :D But I've messed around with it a bit.

Hawkfrost is VERY different in this AU. He is good hearted, but he has a lot of mental instability. It's meant to be very up in the air whether Tigerstar is haunting him or if it's his schitzoeffective disorder. Or both. He is depressed and extremely paranoid. He suffers from a never ending fear that if he doesn't obey Tigerstar's wishes, something horrible will happen. Maybe everything horrible will happen. But Stars, does he not want to, and resists as much as he can at every turn.

Mothwing doesn't know how to help her brother, so she turns to Leafpool, desperate. Hawkfrost is allowed to stay in ThunderClan for a time. He and Leafpool quickly grow close. She is able to speak louder than Tigerstar's shadow. She is soft and gentle with him, but stands strong and defiant against anyone who would hurt him, including his visions.

I'm still on the fence as to whether or not Tigerstar's shadow is a true remnant of his spirit. No matter what, the voices and visions are very real for Hawkfrost, I'm just not sure whether or not to implement the spiritual aspect of things. I have established that the Dark Forest is used to connect the dead to the living, if cats choose to go there, it is much easier to influence the living, though it will take a toll on their soul. If this is the case for Tigerstar, then there will be a point where Leafpool takes Hawkfrost to the Moonpool and fights Tigerstar herself in their dreams. Hawkfrost stands up to his demons as well, and the two of them together chase the shadows away.

Well, I was quite surprised by the audience's response from the last art. That in tumblr, that in my group(VK), that in the group "Коты-воители" (VK), everywhere people were delighted with this ship. I'm happy about that, so as a bonus, keep the hypothetical kittens of these two.

Some notes about the designs: •The color of the faces of the Hawkfrost and the Leafpool was slightly changed, because I like to play with designs.

•Maplestorm, according to the laws of genetics, looks more like a mother, or to be more precise, his color is redder than that of a Leafpool, and the pattern itself was passed on from Sasha. However, the very structure of the body got more from the father

•Honeyflower taken from both father and mother, so it is tortoiseshell. The girl's red spots are similar to the stripes of a Hawkfrost (see previous art) She also got a spot on her nose from both parents Her eyes are green-brown

Where the hell is the chemistry for CrowSquirrel in the canon books? This is such a random ship it's pathetically laughable. Are you Squirrelflight stans so desperate for romance that you'll resort to anything. I don't know who's more stupid, you or the morons reading this shit.

Huh... Y’know considering the canon series has relationships that promote domestic abuse and paedophilia, I think I can live without sticking to them.

So, SquirrelCrow has no canon chemistry? Okay, maybe that’s true. But how about these ships -  LeafHawk, MothPool, IvyBreeze, RootShadow, HareCrow, IvyHawk, DustSand, HollyBreeze (this one used to be massive). All of these are relatively popular ships, and none of them have any canon hints to build them up. The only thing they have is that they are cats that have worked together at some point, or they are friends, like SquirrelCrow. But here’s the thing, it really does not matter at all. Because AU’s exist!

I’m not claiming to follow canon, I’m just twisting the narrative a little so a cat bonds with a different cat to the canon. But even if this was the most random ship in the entire fandom, would I stop shipping it because some c**t disagrees with me. Not a chance. People are allowed to ship anything they want. And if they present a narrative that gives a cool reason for the two to get together, then that’s even better! We should embrace the multitudes of AU’s that can be crafted throughout the fandom! Try expanding your tastes to see why people like these ships and, while you don’t have to like it, you can maybe understand why these people do.

It’s called basic human respect. Look it up.

If you don’t like the same ship as me, and if you hate my story, that is within your right. But don’t come at me because you are offended I’m not following your precious canon (if every ship had to follow the canon, it would be really damn boring). And don’t ever insult the people supporting me, because they have more brains and romantic taste than you could ever hope to have in your life!
