《XƎTЯOVerthink》 Kaleidoscope Analysis
Remember those funky little toys called kaleidoscopes you used to play with as a kid? The ones you'd twist and look into it to see shifting reflections with pretty colors? Yeah, yeah these guys.
Tumblr media
Well I noticed the new Link Click MV heavily incorporates a kaleidoscope as a visual motif. Throughout the MV there’s imagery involving mirrors and rainbows and repeated patterns and rays of light, all qualities of a kaleidoscope.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The most direct references are this frame which illustrates the mirror physics of a kaleidoscope:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this frame illustrating the repeating patterns displayed within a kaleidoscope:
Tumblr media
Seeing all this imagery got me thinking as to why it’s all there. The clock and camera imagery within the show make more obvious sense to their meanings, but kaleidoscopes don’t have anything to do with anything we’ve explicitly seen in the show before. However, after some thinking, I believe the kaleidoscope motif is a lot more relevant than it may seem.
The word “kaleidoscope” itself comes from Greek roots, which translate into “observation of beautiful forms”. To me, this MV seems to be painting Red Eyes as the current observer in control of the kaleidoscope.
The aspect of a kaleidoscope being a toy causes me to think about the line from Vortex, “But Imma win this silly game / until then I will never leave”. During those lyrics is when we see Red Eyes appear.
Tumblr media
From what we've seen of the two different Red Eyes (likely siblings/twins), they appear to be children. With that info, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Red Eyes we’ve seen take control of Qiao Ling and Liu Min still views this whole thing as a game (toy), especially after being lured into the “game” set up by CXS and LG. Red Eyes is just playing with power to entertain themself, the same way a child would play with a kaleidoscope for entertainment.
Additionally, CXS, along with other characters throughout this MV, appears to be trapped in the kaleidoscope with the way the reflected colored light and fractals or glass are displayed around them. It even seems like Qian Jin is trapped, possibly implying he’s a mere pawn in this game as well.
What I find most intriguing though is the fact that the tiniest rotation of a kaleidoscope creates drastic changes regarding what is seen inside the toy. There’s a seemingly infinite display of patterns. This idea parallels the visuals that show multiple (infinite?) versions of CXS. Some of which are dead, others distraught or gravely injured.
Tumblr media
I think the kaleidoscope motif is yet another metaphor for time. Those that have the power to control it with slight changes, the unthinkable number of possible outcomes…thinking of it in this way all starts to make sense. The ones trapped in the kaleidoscope are all at the mercy of time and the ones who control it. Thus, this narrative must rely on “the ones aren’t in control”.
Many have already been speculating this, but I’m also getting the sense that there have been multiple timelines that have been manipulated way before the events of Season 1 began. And those events all involved a sort of engineering of CXS’s fate.
Which leads me to…what the heck is Lu Guang hiding??
One of the first visuals we see is LG falling during the line “When I’ve sunken so low”.
Tumblr media
This lyrical imagery can be paired with the line “Knowing it all, am I destined to fall / Like once you did for me”. I feel like these are implying LG has had transgressions of his past. He’s undergone mistakes that have caused him to fall. Again, multiple people have raised this point, but there must be a reason LG is so strict about the time travel rules. Is it because he’s learned them first-hand the hard way before?
What if LG previously manipulated the timelines in order to save CXS over and over again?
Immediately following the “like once you did for me” lyric is a montage of the way LG came into CXS’s life.
Tumblr media
This visual and the coupled lyrics add to the idea that LG saved CXS and his past actions led to the moment in time we’re currently watching as an audience.
I also want to point out the line of “Where do we end up when we save the world?”. What if LG already disrupted the timeline enough by saving CXS and has now sworn off any further timeline changes in order to protect the current present, leaving Red Eyes with complete authority over its manipulation. He’s already completed his past objective but is now left dealing with the adverse effects.
Anyways, this is just a theory, a LINK CLICK THEORY.

one thing i’m stuck on is why did ltx draw lg here? seems like a such an odd detail to add if there’s no importance. I guess it can be chen bin, but even the hair shape is more like lu guangs. Plus she drew her father with brown hair so i don’t see why she wouldn’t for cb.
It’s kinda tricky if ltx has even seen lg before… this is before they ask her to look into how he’s doing. did she only become aware of what ltc is truly doing during the chen bin possession? if not she would have seen lg when ql was possessed. but why not use the actual person who got possessed as the example? ql only received memories of ltx, cb and lg too. (but she said she got the memories of many people so it could have been off screen). In the fairytale sequence she wakes up and finds him hunting in the night (the rabbit family) but she also sees him hunting during the day. I can see the hunts during the nights being the ones symbolizing his killings to keep her in the dark. Honestly i’m leaning towards her only becoming aware during chen bins possession. I feel like she wouldn’t react well to him killing the other innocents either?
Then why would they even possess lg? if it was related to the whole qian jin/liu min plotline i’m sure that would have been shown. liu xiao was in contact with ltc to get liu mins phone so maybe he also had him snoop in on lg….. (so does ltc know lg memories… i feel like he would definitely use that as a jab towards lg, but maybe he was instructed not to look into lg memories by lx and only look at the present studio?)
or maybe i’m over reading it and they just decided to use him as easy representation for her powers. cxs or ql didn’t react to it being lg so.. still seems like a weird detail to add but it can be a red herring.

A Game Between Two Hunters: s2e9
In order to lure "Red Eyes," Cheng Xiaoshi is the one who suggests they play "a game."
Tumblr media
He continues to bait, telling "Red Eyes" to use the clue to find him, and promises not to involve the police in the matter.
Tumblr media
"Red eyes" is intrigued, and hunts him down. Not just for the hunt, but with a desire to make a friend.
Tumblr media
"Interesting! If I win, will you promise to be my new friend?"
With what we now know about Li Tianchen and his penchant for the hunt, well, obviously he's excited. Another person with powers? Who is inviting him to play a game of cat and mouse? Very interesting indeed!
And so, he receives the clue and shows up at Time Photo Studio at the appointed time... where he is greeted by Cheng Xiaoshi:
Tumblr media
And if that isn't the face of a hunter who has cornered his prey.
Tumblr media
Red Eyes is thrilled. The hunt begins. Who is going to win? It's hunter vs. hunter after all, and the opponent is proving himself to be skilled.
But then.... Cheng Xiaoshi cheats. He calls the police. He breaks his promise. Cheng Xiaoshi lied. "Red Eyes" is not happy. His new friend just betrayed him!
Tumblr media
This wasn't a fair win, the hunt is not over! And just because "Red Eyes," (who I am just going to call Li Tianchen at this point), has the upper hand, he imposes a rule on Cheng Xiaoshi. Cheng Xiaoshi cannot lie. And Li Tianchen enforces that rule with glee.
______________________________________________________________
At this point I'm going to break and make an addendum to my previous "Lu Guang-can't-tell-the-future post." Because Lu Guang does discuss this photograph in detail with Cheng Xiaoshi. (Mind blowing what teamwork can do for you, huh.) He's the one who calls the police. Presumably on Cheng Xiaoshi's direction.
Tumblr media
But I do think there's a point there. Cheng Xiaoshi is the one who theorizes that this is all his doing. He makes a very educated guess as to what the future will hold, and requests Lu Guang let him handle it. And Lu Guang does. But if the order of events can be believed (I'm not sure they can) then Lu Guang warns of the masked man's appearance before Cheng Xiaoshi spills the beans. Honestly I think that was played for suspense, and they discussed a full plan prior, but who knows.
______________________________________________________________
In any case, back to the hunt. From Li Tianchen's perspective, this wasn't a fair match. The hunt is still on and his new cheating friend needs to be taught a lesson. Coincidentally, if I'm really going to play into this game&rules train of thought, then Lu Guang possibly broke a rule too. He gets away with discussing the photograph if and only if Cheng Xiaoshi deduced how the event would unfold first. If he let something slip before that... well, maybe this is a double punishment deserved.
Tumblr media
This game of cat and mouse is still on, with Li Tianchen holding an overwhelming upper hand. I wonder. Sticking myself to this train of thought (because why not, this is all for fun), Cheng Xiaoshi cant lie. Lu Guang can't speak of the future. Does Li Tianchen have a rule too?
Bonus: probably completely unrelated:
Tumblr media
That game where they must follow unseen rules:
QL: say "don't move" . CXS: must not move . LG: say "why"
What a fun game this is haha

ok so people are saying how the pv is misleading us (and it is) bc qj is wearing his bulletproof vest when he shoots cxs, but not in the beginning of the pv; thus, cxs is fine. and like, ofc cxs is fine, they'd never kill off a main character, buuuuut the scene distinctly cuts in the pv after they show him with the vest. there's no guarantee that those scenes take place one after another...

Holy, I just saw myrid Celestia so here's a bit of rambling and a silly theory :
As we learned from HI3, honkai is a phenomenon that happens to civilizations as they grow advanced, it's basically a system in the imaginary tree, in theory, all worlds should be a target to the honkai, and each world may name it a different way.
So far everyone agrees that Acheron did come from a world very similar to HI3, some think there's 2 eras too but based on the caption saying "the dual planets were intertwined in each other's tragic destiny" I'll assume they were, well, dual planets.
//"Kevin" says that takamagahara is the one that fell first, and Izumo created the blades, but if we go by prev era then takamagahara didn't serve the same purpose as HI3, and the current era has been the one to do everything, except if it wasn't explicitly said that the herrschers were slayed in PE and only now did Izumo use them to forge the blades//
Izumo was plagued by the honkai, won against the herrschers and took their powers, creating weapons (blades) out of them, each representing the 12 herrschers powers that are later wielded by the flamechasers, who in the end, were defeated, and the blades were broken. It seems like unlike HI3 Acheron was a flamechaser, presumably along with Kevin.
So then, the last blades were Forged, the origin and the end, Acheron being the origin did break the end. And that should've been the end of the honkai, it didn't end there, because honkai alone was no longer the threat to izumo.
I think it's pretty deductable from the trailer but just in case: spoiler for acheron's identity
At the very end, she stood under a sky with a black sun (dark hole) , she says "we long since strode in THEIR Shadows" as the last blade gets forged "naught" , and her form changes.
Is that not...when she becomes nihility's emenator?
Would that black hole not be IX's? Would Izumo not be under IX's governance after all has happened?
The last thing acheron does was, slash IX.
That black sun, ix, has always been there from the beginning of the trailer, meaning that, it's not that the despair drew IX, but it's IX who rendered the dual planets efforts useless. You know it's true when even Kevin says that salvation isn't possible.
The pioneer diver of dead waters, a relic set that talks abt Acheron, we know that's true because the flower motif is the same as acheron's. it talks Abt a nameless who was her friend, her goal was to dive in IX, knowing that it's lethal but believing that the journey matters more than her upcoming end.
Acheron's LC's description basically confirms one thing, Acheron acts as a guide to those lost in nihility in an in-between place (existence and nothingness), that very much could be inside IX, since it's a popular sci-fi theory that black holes lead to other dimensions/worlds.
Her LC quotes her friend, in saying that Acheron still has a lot of paths and choices to take before she reaches the end. I'd say that that's proof her friend left a mark on her.
From all of these we can theorize that acheron's current goal could very well be to kill IX, she has the motive to do so after all.
I sadly can't find izumo's ornament story anymore so I can't add more to this xd
What personally peaked my interest is, the existence of IX throughout izumo. Considering HSR to be the higher world, I just recently joked Abt how hooh is cooking With creating the honkai as it's logically under their authority. And that very much can be still be true, but so far, for a world that's supposedly much more advanced such as hsr's, we haven't even heard of a honkai phenomenal. There were early theories that khaenriaah's destruction was means to stop them from attracting honkai into teyvat, Even tho by HI3 standards teyvat isn't developed at all (heck they have every source of energy except electricity), soooo can we blame hi3's inconsistent writing or is their understanding not correct?
I just think it would be interesting that IX's influence might give rise to honkai, as it's basically a death sentence to a world, the faster finality came, the more aligned the world is with IX.
Speaking of which I've also talked Abt how IX is most linked to the path of finality, so there's that
If you read so far, congrats! You're one of the few, here's a cookie : 🍪🥛

LC6M187; “Lincoln Continental”or “Lucifer/Christ”?
Shane's "22" Necklace Revisited
This is a post that's been years in the making. In fact, the themes around Shane, Beth and the Venus/Lucifer/Morningstar symbolism were among the first that caught my interest when I got into TD. I could relate it all to Beth in a general sense, but I always wanted something more tangible. Sure, Lucifer means Light Bringer, and we can easily tie that to Beth. But it's also very surface level. I needed something deeper, something more like a smoking gun, and the other day, I think I found it.
The other day I was rewatching scenes from season 1 in preparation of this post, about the XH6-S781 licence plate, when I suddenly saw a familiar licence plate in a scene I hadn't been aware of, and everything clicked into place.
Tumblr media
The LC6M187 licence plate on Shane’s Jeep Wrangler, from 1x3 Tell It To The Frogs.
It's the same as the one we see in on the car 5x2, the one Carol and Daryl use to chase after Officer Lichari's Dodge Magnum. I've written a couple of posts on that here and here. My hypothesis is that the LC in LC6M187 stands for Lincoln Continental, which is a nod to the car Daryl and Beth hid in in 4x12 Still.
LC6M187 is the licence plate on the car that directly lead Daryl and Carol to Noah, and by extension to Beth, in 5x6 Consumed.
Tumblr media
We see it for the very first time in 1x3 Tell It To The Frogs, on Shane's black Jeep Wrangler, and we see it along with Carol's yellow Jeep Cherokee and T-Dog's Dodge Van. I talked about the Dodge Van with the XH6-S781 licence plate here, and I'll probably do a separate post on the symbolism around the yellow Jeep Cherokee soon-ish (I did talk about it some here).
Tumblr media
At the campsite we see Carol's yellow Jeep Cherokee, T-Dog’s Dodge Van and Shane’s black Jeep Wrangler
Tumblr media
One thing that’s abundantly clear, is that the overarching theme of 1x3 TITTF is "death" and "resurrection". More specifically, it's about Merle’s “death” and Rick’s “resurrection”. Rick, believed by his family to be dead, "resurrects" and reunites with his loved ones.
Merle, on the other hand, “disappears”, and isn’t seen again until season 3, when he “resurrects” as one of the Governor's henchmen (except for a brief appearance in Daryl's hallucination in Chupacabra). Death and resurrection are two sides to the same story, you can’t have "resurrection" without “death".
Tumblr media
I’m not the first to point out the parallels between Merle and Beth, and I believe the LC6M187 license plate further confirmed these parallels, since we specifically see Daryl learn about Merle’s fate as we see the license plate in the shot very clearly. The story being told around the car is one of death and resurrection.
We actually first see the license plate as Daryl returns to camp after a hunt, calls for his brother and learns that he’s been left behind on a rooftop in Atlanta, exposed to the elements and to walkers. However, Rick intends to go back for him, along with Glenn and T-Dog.
Daryl joins in.
And of course, when they get there, Merle's “just gone”.
This reminds us of what many of us believe went down after 5x8 Coda. We don't know the details, but many of us theorize that for some reason, they had to leave Beth behind (and like I’ve mentioned, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was in the back of Officer Lichari’s Dodge Magnum), with the intention of going back for her, only when they did, they found she was “just gone”.
Tumblr media
Let’s talk about Shane for a minute. In this old post I wrote about Shane’s 22 necklace, and in it I promised to write more on the Beth/Shane entanglement...
...and then I just never did. In my early days of being in TD, while I was still figuring out the Sirius symbolism, I did see a lot of symbolical entanglement between Shane and Beth, though I couldn’t quite articulate what it meant. I caught a lot of Morningstar references, references to Christ as the Morningstar, as well as references to Morningstar as a representation of the Devil. I read up the astronomy of the ancient Greeks, who identified Venus/the Morningstar as Phosphorous and Eosphorous, meaning the Light Bringer (Venus is a planet, not two stars as they believed).
Then when seson 4 rolled around, TPTB placed Beth in the center of the Sirius symbolism, which we saw particularly with the white one-eyed dog from Alone. As Sirius is also a Morningstar, I hypothesized that the Venus/Morningstar symbolism and the Sirius symbolism were synonomous. I still believe that.
Tumblr media
After Slabtown, we all got obsessed with the "Get Well Soon" clock and how to interpret it.
I knew I believed one of the interpretations of the Slabtown clock involved Shane, because depending on how you read the numbers, the 10 minute marker and the 2 hour marker is the same, meaning you could use 10 and 2 interchangeably. I theorized that the clock therefore could point to episodes 2x2, 2x10, 10x2 and 10x10 (also read this post). You could for exemple argue that it pointed to episode 2x2 Bloodletting, which was when Beth first appeared on the show. But it was also a number linked to Shane, through his necklace.
Later, I also realized that the Slabtown clock could be pointing to episode 10x11 (if you read 10 - one one), which was called Morningstar, and that was a bit of a lightbulb moment; the number 22 is tied to the Morningstar reference in Revelation 22:16.
Tumblr media
Isn’t it fascinating how the number of the verse also corresponds with Shane’s necklace?
But Morningstar has also traditionally been a reference to the Devil. That’s an interesting duality, which is perfect for TWDU, and it is something that helps explain the symbolical entanglement between Beth and Shane.
Tumblr media
So, Lucifer is in the Bible used as one of the names of Christ, it means "light bringer". It has also been used, especially in literature, as a name for the Devil, Lucifer Morningstar. There’s an interesting duality in the name Lucifer, one iteration referring to Christ, the other referring to the Devil, and it was in that duality I picked up on the symbolism entanglement between Shane and Beth.
They had the same symbolism around them, but in Beth’s case, it was Christ symbolism, in Shane’s case it was the symbolism of the Devil. Where the LC on the LC6M187 license plate on Shane’s black Jeep Wrangler indicates he’s a Prince of Darkness, the same LC on the licence plates seen on other cars points to the resurrection sybolism of the Lincoln Continental from Still, it refers to the resurrection symbolism of a Christ figure, the properties of the Light Bringer. Light and darkness. You can’t have resurrection without death, they’re two sides to the same story.
Beth’s a Sirius figure, she’s associated with fire. We watched her light a fire in Still, she lit a stack of cash on fire to burn down the moonshine shack, she’s associated with yellow, as in her yellow polo, and Yellow Jacket Creek. Shane’s black Jeep Wrangler indicates darkness.
To say that Beth is a Light Bringer is nothing new at this point, it's been abundantly clear since 4x12 Still.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But keep in mind what happened immediately before the scene where she lit the fire:
Tumblr media
We see Beth and Daryl "resurrect" from the trunk of the Lincoln Continental (LC) after having escaped death by walker horde the night before. And when we see her start the fire in the next scene, she does so by using the side mirror and a shard of glass from the headlights of the Lincoln Continental. Actual hardware from the car that saved their lives, the car that's been referenced by all the LC licence plates. It's a car that's tied to resurrection, and Beth immeditately establishes herself as Lucifer, the Light Bringer, using tools provided by the car, to light a fire. This is textbook Lucifer Morningstar symbolism.
And this is where an alternative way of interpreting the LC6M187 licence plate reveals itself.
Because remember what I said about the duality in that Lucifer refers to both Christ and the Devil? Could the LC, in addition to being a reference to the Lincoln Continental, also be a reference to Lucifer and Christ?
Could it be, that in the case of the Lincoln Continental from Still, the LC means Lucifer as Christ, marking Beth as the Light Bringer, the Morningstar in its Christ iteration?
As the seasons went by, I came to realize that the entanglement between Beth and Shane in reality was entanglement between Rick and Shane. Rick is the original Christ figure, the original Sirius figure, the original Morningstar. And the reason it comes across as though Beth’s tangled up in all of that, is because she’s so heavily paralleled with Rick. Whatever resurrection symbolism we've seen around Rick, we've also seen around her. And we've watched Rick "resurect" twice now, so...
We really saw this quite clearly in Slabtown, where Dawn, a Morningstar reference, was Shane to Beth’s Rick. Like Shane, she was a cop, her name indicates Morningstar symbolism, and she’s the reason Beth “died”, like Shane was the last one to see Rick before he "died" at the hospital.
Tumblr media
Notice the scissors sticking out from Dawn's shoulder. That's another interesting exemple of the entanglement between Shane and Beth. As a weapon of choice when attemting to assert yourself in confrontation with someone carrying a gun, a tiny pair of scissors would probably be my last choice. Why did TPTB do Beth so dirty?
Because symbolism.
We all remember Beth sacrificing herself for Noah in Slabtown, right? He was injured, and much slower than her. He wasn't going to make it without her intenvening. And she did. But in doing so, she ended up trapped, while Noah escaped.
Tumblr media
In 2x3, Shane was in a similar situation. Carl had been shot, he needed medicine, and Shane and Otis went out to find it. Inevitably, they ran into a walker horde, and Shane sacrificed Otis so he himself could get away. As he returned to the farm alone, he knew he had fundamentally changed. We get a scene where he shaves his hair off, and transforms into something Devil-like before our eyes. He went "full Shane", as became the meme around the fandom. It means he surrendered to and embraced the Devil side of his Lucifer properties.
And, I want to address the fact that what we see in 2x3, of Shane shooting Otis in the foot, effectively sacrificing him, was entirely told through flashbacks. Meaning, the actual events happened in the previous episode, which was…. Yep. 2x2. Another representation of the 22/Lucifer/Morningstar symbolism and the duality it entails. I’m side-eying that heavily.
Tumblr media
We see Shane holding the clippers in his hand in this pic. The 22 necklace is also visible. There's a parallel to Beth here, hiding the scissors up her cast:
Tumblr media
Her unconventional choice of weapon to bring to a gunfight is only sufficiently explained through symbolism. Clippers and scissors are tools used for similar tasks. Beth used them after sacrificing herself for Noah (for the second time, no less), Shane used them after having sacrificed Otis.
We also get this representation of the 22/Lucifer/Morningstar symbolism on the trunk of one of the Grady cars in 5x8 Coda, proving the symbolism around Shane's necklace extends beyond Shane himself. And again, remember this was introduced all the way back in season 1. The symbolism goes back to the very beginning.
Tumblr media
We've also seen the 22/Lucifer/Morningstar symbolism several other times over the years, such as in 10x13 What We Become, which I've talked about here. Here we see a “22” next to a "11" or a "one one", as we remember from Noah's T-shirt.
Tumblr media
Returning to the LC6M187 licence plate for a moment. In season 2 we see yet another one of these license plates on a Ford Mustang, in the exact same shade of yellow as Carols Jeep Cherokee and Beth’s yellow polo.
It’s the car where they end up leaving supplies and a note to Sophia, hoping she’ll return. She didn’t, but if she had managed to return to the Mustang with the supplies, they would have found her and she would have survived. The car provided an opportunity for survival had she managed to return to it. The symbolism of the license plate is still, as in 1x3 TITTF, one of death and resurrection.
Tumblr media
The next time we see this license plate is in 3x15, when Merle sacrifices himself so that Michonne and TF can live. Remember we literally became aware of the LC6M187 license plate in 1x3 TITTF, as Daryl learned about Merle being left behind in Atlanta, and when they went looking for him, he was "just gone". Presumed dead, except he wasn't. He “resurrected” in season 3. It’s fitting that it also is a car with this particular license plate that takes him to his sacrificial death. Death and resurrection. Merle did something very Christ-like in his final moments. He sacrificed himself for his brother's new family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next time we see a representation of the symbolism of the LC6M187 license plate is in 4x12 Still. We see Beth and Daryl survive a walker horde by hiding in the trunk of a car, a Lincoln Continental. The LC6M187 licence plate itself doesn’t appear in this scene, but my hypothesis is that the LC of the license plates are direct references to this particular Lincoln Continental, and that it was established as resurrection symbolism all the way back in 1x3 TITTF, under showrunner Frank Darabont.
Then, we come across it again in 5x2 Strangers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Carol is having second thoughts on just about anything. Daryl catches her attempting to leave in a car they discovered earlier that day. This one had a battery charger(!) in the trunk(!). And a very familiar license plate, LC6M187.
Remember, at this point, Beth is “just gone”. Then, suddenly a car with a white cross drives by. Daryl recognizes it as similar to the car that took Beth in 4x13 Alone. They follow the car to Atlanta.
The car they follow is actually Officer Licari’s Dodge Magnum. It is potentially the actual car Beth was left in after Coda. And interestingly, we see here both the XH6-S781 license plate and the LC6M187 license plate in the same scene for the first time since 1x3 TITTF. And Beth is right in the center of the symbolism, in a way that is impossible to disregard! That seems significant to me.
To my knowledge, we don’t ever see the LC6M187 license plate again, but we've had some references to it, such as from the season finale of season 1 of TWDDD. We see Carol in a blue Ford Mustang, with a license plate with the numbers 502, which obviously points to TWD 5x2, the exact episode when we last see the LC6M187 license plate. And when we last see it, it is when Daryl and Carol are following Officer Lichari’s Dodge Magnum to Atlanta. I’ve written about it here and here.
Tumblr media
It’s interesting that we’ve had a few mustangs on the show, and it's interesting that they're all tied up in the symbolism around Beth.
But there was also another Mustang, one I haven't mentioned yet, Lucille's green(e) Ford Mustang from 10x22 Here’s Negan. The 22nd episode of season 10... it’s almost like it was foreshadowed by the Slabtown clock… Feel free to side-eye that, I know I do...
Tumblr media
Yup, Negan’s wife Lucille drove a green Ford Mustang, and we did get a great look at the license plate
Tumblr media
I’m not going to pretend I’ve got everything figured out in regards to these licence plates. I can offer suggestions and explain how I interpret them, but anybody's is guess is as good as mine.
But Lucille’s Mustang almost has got to be involved in the things I've discussed in this post. First, the names Lucifer and Lucille are closely related, they both refer to "light", in that they're both names that are derived from the Latin word for for light, "lux".
“Lucille" is derived from "Lucy/Lucia", patroness saint of the blind.
Tumblr media
Again, Beth is right in the center of this symbolism:
Tumblr media
Does the LC of the LC6M187 licence plate stand for Lucifer/Christ, essentially describing the duality of the symbolism that’s tied to both the Christ/Light Bringer and the Devil? Is it a metaphor for the duality of "death and resurrection", of light and darkness?
Rick as the Christ figure, Shane as the Devil.
Beth as the Christ figure, Dawn as the Devil?
On the license plate of Lucille's green Ford Mustang, we first see an X. It likely means “cross”, or Christ, or "resurrection"… or it could mean Roman Numeral 10, as in the season in which this episode occurred?
Then a "V"…
...which incidently is the 22nd letter of the alphabet. That's quite the coincidence, isn't it? In the 22nd episode of season 10... we see a "V" for Venus which is the 22nd letter of the alphabet? "V" for Venus, Morningstar, the 22nd letter, and seen on Shane's necklace? Remember that the Bible verse with the Morningstar reference was 22:16.
Then you see the “11”. Obviously, one interpretation is that it’s a reference to the “one one” on Noah’s t-shirt, or to episode 10x11 (10 - one one) Morningstar. Another could be that 1+1=2, and it refers to the second letter of the alphabet, B... for Beth?
Then there's the "44". Is it a reference to the comic book issue that revolves around Andrea, the Beth proxy, being shot? Or is it a representation of Daryl Dixon, in that D is the fourth letter in the alphabet, so that 44 = DD?
I can't say for sure, and I'm open to sugestions.

Okay so I’ve been trying to take a nap for the past 15 minutes but for some reason my brain has been hyperfixating on theorizing @covenofwives ‘s God-Sibling AU, so I’m gonna share my personal theories on it so my head will finally shut up.
Specifically these theories are focused around what happened to PunzOP and who or what Lanky Chompers is. I am convinced the two are connected, and my reasoning for that is simply Punz. So here are my theories:
A) Lanky Chompers is the Warden or related to the skulk in one way or another. My evidence for this is this drawing that Coven made, Lanky Chompers has the distinct cyan glow that the skulk also has, as well as his horns look suspiciously like the Warden’s frill-things. Either Lanky Chompers comes from the original dimension the skulk and Warden does or he is the Warden.
B) PunzOP’s dimension that he watches over is the Aether (the glowstone framed water like portal that was a mod in the early years of Minecraft and people thought it was an actual thing in the game. It wasn’t.) Evidence here is PunzOP’s color palette and wing-motif, as the Aether is basically heaven like the Nether is hell.
C) PunzOP was killed or captured by Lanky Chompers. Pretty self-explanatory, my only evidence to back this theory up is how both entities are related to Punz.
D) PunzOP IS Lanky Chompers. This one is a bit far-fetched, since I think that LC is related to Skulk and PunzOP is god of the Aether. But maybe he was like possessed or corrupted by the skulk like how the catalysts spread it when a mob dies near one in the game. This would explain LC’s connection with Punz though.
E) Lanky Chompers is just a spooky demon manipulating Punz and has nothing to do with anything I just said and I’m simply leaning into my crazy conspiracy theorist tendencies.
F) 4K knows more about PunzOP’s disappearance than we as the audience are currently aware of. Evidence here is this animation Coven did to the Doki Doki Literature Club song, when the lyric “I wonder where Sayori is” (PunzOP was effectively Sayori in the animatic) the picture of 4K with a glitch effect and a censor bar over his eyes is shown.
—I think that’s it now for my theories, I’d love for y’all to share your own (If that’s alright with Coven ofc) and… yeah!
Thanks for listening to my crackpot theories and don’t forget to blow a kiss to Lanky Chompy on your way out! 😂❤️

i’m here to wax poetic about jimin bc im tired of only hearing about non-jimins and today’s discourse is enough to last me a whole year
i love this thing jimin does when he plays around with feminine sultriness. the video above reminded me of that so i wanted to talk more about it. i wish we could get that more often but i think he really likes switching back and forth and likes keeping people on their toes.
i think a great example of this is the dynamic between SMF pt2 and LC. while the lyrics of SMF pt2 are super queer coded (my personal favorite is “i wont hide anymore even if it hurts”), the delivery is actually more on the masculine side (e.g., baggy clothes (with cunty skin-tight tops underneath lol) and an intense hip-hop sound). on the other hand, the delivery of LC is super queer while the lyrics seem to specifically refer to a woman who is distracting him from his emotions and his chaotic life.
there’s obviously many theories about how LC may be queer coded. for me, the queer coding lies more in the performance and not the actual lyrics. when the mv came out and queer fans began to theorize how the woman that he appears to look for is a reflection of him there was immediate pushback only for the choreography to show exactly that. also, the fact that the korean male dancers were also meant to touch him in the beginning (as we can see on the dance rehearsal bangtan bomb). the fact that that specific detail was “toned down” in the korean performances but not the american one is really interesting to me. (i will die on the hill that the Fallon performance is unmatched, the dancers not only matched his dancing style perfectly but also perfectly captured the sultryness and intimacy of the song).
additionally, throughout the choreography it almost looks like the female and male dancers are in tug of war with him, pushing him in different directions. there’s two instances where he is literally tugged or pulled by a female dancer and then a male dancer. then the resolution is that the dancers are all paired up and he’s quite literally “alone again” and then we transition into Alone where we get answers to what the real underlying problem is which is his loneliness and what keeps him in that vicious coping cycle until he sets himself free from that.
there’s so much to unpack about FACE. i will always be so proud for what he was able to achieve on such a brief record. he really did THAT.
i think that doing that back and forth between masc and fem is really gratifying for him bc he clearly doesn’t like putting himself in a box. that duality is also sort of liberating bc it puts him in a sweet spot where he doesn’t come off as a queerbaiter but also gets to express himself authentically. personally, i think the photofolio, the self-drawn “tattoo” of the male and female symbols, and that time he painted a bi flag out of nowhere are signs that i find it really hard to believe he’s not throwing hints put here lol.
hints about what? his sexuality?

What do you think when fans say that Ladybug plans are too overly complex as a form of salt? Personally, I prefer if she just went simply and shoved the lucky charms on the akuma's or behaved like a predator as in she has superhuman strength since she's a FREAKING Ladybug.
BIt's a mixed bag that I can get.
On one hand, it shows that she is very brilliant and that she has a different way of thinking, especially since her partner doesn't quite get how she thinks and Alya can get caught off guard at times on where Marinette goes in terms of planning. Gosh, it was forever ago, but I remember a few were theorizing or considering that Marinette could be autistic or on the spectrum. And not sure if it still stands, but Thomas was saying there is an autistic character on the show, though of course he wouldn't say who.
But I can also get the frustration. As brilliant as some of her plans are, they can be unnecessary and some things are either overcomplicated or overlook simpler solutions; like, Anansi when she got the candle, just light the web on fire and that forces Anansi to take Alya down, saving LB from having to go to Fu.
And honestly I'm not usually up to write her elaborate schemes, and most of the time, depending on the miraculous and who is working with her, I find her schemes and the LC unnecessary.
Like, Copycat, powers are hardly summoned most of the time.
So to those who are salty about it, I can get it, at least the stand point of things getting more elaborate or complicated than necessary. Even more so knowing that her powers were a lot more straightforward concept wise and didn't need super elaborate plan, and the writers are really challenging themselves trying to think of these over the top set ups. It didn't have to be that way. Back in the day, she could just make any item she wanted and not have to work around random item dropped in her hands.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My speculated guess is that this made her too OP and brought Chat down in use, so they made her more limited in what she can do in a fight, leaving her to only work off her wits.
Honestly though, this would been better for Ladybug as, yeah, these are predators, known for exterminating pests and destroying what's a threat. Also, a good number of previous Ladybugs are warriors. Though what we have canon wise, it's hard to picture Ladybug as a very combative miraculous as its more about being resourceful, thinking outside the box, and finding non aggressive ways around issues.
But this outcome I just chock it off to them not thinking their lore through.

LC Birds/Gilgadad: With Oz and Regis both limping around with a cane and only being distantly related, I can see the public coming to the conclusion that LC’s have a tendency towards joint problems. But then, I can also see the Birds and Co deciding that even though Regis has a shield, that his cane should be a Meca-shift sword too. Just in case. Cue others staring at Oz’s cane and clearly wondering…
OH I CAN TOTALLY SEE THAT. XD
The public and the internet especially start theorizing that LCs have a tendency toward chronic illnesses and then *someone* probably does an entire research binge on the lifespans of the royal family and when they start using canes and like-
yeah that's not a fun week for the PR department. But oh well XD.
The Birds and Co definitely put their heads together and make Regis a fancy and terrifying shotgun sword cane of death. Regis is too enamored by his kids giving him a gift to really be concerned with the potential breaking of physics required to have a shotgun, a sword, and a cane all coexisting as one functional entity.
Clarus is now eyeing Oz's cane in trepidation.
Cor is wondering how he can get a "sword that turns into something else" for himself. Because Cor.

Why don't you like Scrooge/Santa?
Hard for me to enjoy the ship when the episode was so disappointing lol characterization was a mess next to episodes like split sword (though tbf the end of s3 was a mess when it comes to scrooge) and we just spent 20 min watching scrooge bully a lonely gay bear whose been obsessed with him since their 19-day fling
goldie and scrooge is fun because it's mutual and they're both mean and grumpy but santa is literally the nicest person on earth and scrooge has spent 100+ years treating him like a leper. Its not cute
i think the santa hatred was better left unexplained. it was a lot more fun then since everyone's headcanons for what happened were so much more interesting than what we were given. and it would've been nice to have some followup of Last Christmas with a Donald and Della christmas storyline instead since LC was such a solid emotional ep. Maybe with huey as the centric child instead of dewey this time??? Could've been a nice family ep another great opportunity to bring up Hortense and Quackmore yknow. There were a lot of things they could've done with the family and no one would've minded that the Santa hatred was unexplained cuz it was so funny to theorize
Like I said it was just disappointing all around so I can't enjoy it. But I'm also someone who doesn't like Christmas episodes that are about the "Spirit of Christmas" cuz I'm Jewish and I don't care. I like Christmas eps that are about family and love and togetherness and loneliness cause it makes for a much more entertaining story that reaches a wider audience

THE WALTEN FILES: my jumbled notes on my blind run-in with this web series
first off this is gonna be long and unorganized, also this is my second time writing this as i had lost literally half of my progress and im This (imagine two fingers almost touching with a 0.0000000001mm distance between them) close to ripping all of the fucking hair out of my goddamn head. but now this will be extra long and yes, i will lose some accuracy to my first writing but thats okay ill probably edit this a kajillion times over
which brings me to my next tangent; im literally braindumping here. so to have a smidge of organization all afterthoughts, edits and corrections will be boldened, i forgot what im gonna do with italicized text but ill probably bolden it here yeah im pretty sure its for side tangents, separate from Corrections, which are in bold. also theyre for emphasis too.
so in general, this post right here is all of my notes i wrote down on my grid-patterned sticky notes (which i used WAYYYY too much of) about the first 3 uploaded walten files youtube videos transferred onto my handy dandy digital notebook, this b(l)og. yeppers peppers. you know im serious about this shit when i typed probably over like a thousand fucking words including boldened shit, italicized shit and motherfucking links, lost it ALL, and im sitting here re-typing it again.
i feel bad about this but im not gonna trigger warn right here, but this is technically a warning. if you want a list of triggers as to what this post (and the walten files in general) i will link a little list to that here
without further a doo doo, (mama mia) here the fucking fuck we go again.
THE WALTEN FILES - VIDEO #1
clarifying this now, im gonna put some useless shit which i thought was code onto this because even though it was useless it was part of my notes and im physically going to combust if i dont put down every single thing i wrote on my papers. so what i thought was code was in the closed captions, i started writing it down when i got to the second video but came back to my first videos notes to include them. i wrote down the first letter to every word that was capitalized in the closed captions, which i had on as a default because number one i knew going into this id need them because most web horror things like args and cryptic shit like that has some of the most crucial shits in the closed captions. number two i am autistic and have auditory processing issues and have most closed captioning on as a default if theyre available.
firstly jotted, i wrote down the closed captions “code” so im gonna put the rest here too: HYWITB(BSI)Y A(BSI)BJWFKWITW ILHHFSBBSBTLBWI USOISTBNBSFIRBCAWHSHCBWHTAIGRNB*C*BTWLTSFA(20)MCFP ILITIIACPH(1978, 1979)SA(4)YTSCH*C*OGSSU SFTGRPATDBBUTFBNLLCHMIHLBRALLCLAYTUKB*LC*WHATWASTHATTHING
the numbers in parenthesis are there because i wasnt sure they should be included in the “code” or not. i also thought of this with the BSI - bunny smiles incorporated and also the years 1978 and 1979. the shits in asterisks are coughs and light coughs, which were capitalized in the closed captions so i included them too just in case
i then jotted, in parenthesis of course, the names of the animatronics when they were listed in the animation section of the video; bon aka the blue bunny, sha aka the sheep one, boozoo aka the clown<3 honk<33, and banny aka the purpled eyelashed up one who is also a bunny btw. also i got boozoo the clown and boozoo the mustache guy confused because apparently the clowns name is billy???? but they named “boozoo” in bons sleepover and showed the clown? idk maybe im an idiot and theyre the same or just an idiot and theyre different or a super mega (matt and ryan?!?!??) idiot in general which is probably the case
i started drawing little stars to write down things i thought would be super important or to 100% look at again. the first subject of this pointy torture was the part of the video where at 3:00, i marked it down to make sure to reverse the audio as it was most definitely a weird audio that has that signature warp-y effect that makes sure you KNOW its in reverse. i then listened back to it Very carefully (still got it wrong) and got this: “you finally start to remember. that old doll. they will look out for you soon” im also pretty sure i heard “sophie” at the end of that audio but im not entirely sure and dont remember and i dont wanna go back to check lmfao but anyways it didnt matter because i was wrong anyway. after i had finished all 3 walten files i watched the film theory video on the walten files (which didnt cover all 3 but was dece.) out of curiosity and to hear matpats signature silly little voice explain some stuff i already knew, and click some shit in my brain that i couldve thought up of if i was a bit more... i dont know honestly. anyways yeah so the actual audio is “you finally start to remember. that old day. they will look out for you soon.” so yeah. day, not doll.
i then wrote down “sarah evelyn”, the name on the bons sleepover animation (i dont remember if she created it or animated it or whatnot) and scribbled will she matter? under her name. turns out no, as i didnt see her name in the rest of the series, let alone the first video. this is also a great time to mention how matpat theory helped me realize that the walten files are collections of videos, uploaded onto youtube by anthony. (i already knew about anthony as he signed his name in the descriptions of the youtube videos, making me categorize this overall web series more into an arg type genre.) but yes, the tapes, recorded “irl” footage, animated clips, vhs tape recordings and other audio-visual content is all collected and labeled the walten files, as i had mistaken each video to be a tape. stupid me. alrighty, onward!
i starred this one, good for me; MISSING: Jack Walten LAST SEEN: 06/11/1974
i jotted down with an arrow that; sophie was a nightguard? she was wearing the uniform explained in tape 2 i dont know why but i went back into my video 1 notes after i had watched video 2. organization purposes. i guess.??
i then paused the video when the screen flickered a date, the beginning of video footage dated 10/10/1982 (Brian Stells?) god my little genius ass assuming the videographer was brian stells, based on the id card i saw earlier.
i then wrote down what text i saw on the dead, mangled, bloody body in the purple security suit; “i cant feel anything” “he thought i was her” then drew a little arrow pointing to; thought brian was sophie? or ashley? i also starred the name Brian Stells this is totally out of order LMFAOOOOOOOO also i wrote down ashley because, again, my little pea brain went back on my video 1 notes after watching video 2. but yep thats all i wrote for The Walten Files 1 - Company Introductory Tape
THE WALTEN FILES - VIDEO #2
Tape #1 - created 07/02/1978
awesome how thats first and foremost in the captions. god. so sexy of you martin walls. /j /nsx
this pack of notes is chunkier because again, like i have mentioned before i am an absolute goober and thought the capitalized letters of the words would actually mean something. I MEAN MAYBE THEY DO AND IM JUST DOING IT WRONG but i stopped doing it after this video because holy shit it was exhausting and my stupid little fingers couldnt take the writing anymore becasue i am WEAK.
so write off the bat (squeak) i wrote down 197[] the blacked out rectangle over the last digit of that year and everything im also now assuming its probably 1978 or 1974 because lore reasons but whos to say but yeah i also wrote down this;
Tape #2 - created 08/13/1978
then, straight up in the beginning of the video i caught it, the flash of text, as i had by now realized i gotta be SUPER stupid focused on the screen in case i miss anything, i wanted to be crazy precise on my theorizing and mental notes, among other things. but yes i saw it, the first half of a youtube link;  “https://youtu”
claps hands together and rubs them evilly. oh yeah baby. thats the hot lunch. this shit right here? the cats pajamas. lets fucking go.
i wrote down this goofy shit i pasued to inspect when i saw bon sorting through a file cabinet and naturally scribbled down the labels and other written things i could see on the files;
relocate X/X/75 felix
storage K-9 07/23/1975 felix k(ranken)
Bons Burgers 06/28/1974 Jack Walten
Shipping Service 1975
New Location -> 1982
i also wrote down more goofy shit, like when banny was created for some reason; in 1974
starred, i noted to go back and reverse the audio at 5:09, when played back, i didnt write it down so i dont remember. lmao.
i also marked to screenshot and brighten the darkened image i saw at 5:20, i was going to do it on my phone then realized i can just do it on my computer so i quickly took a screenshot, brightened it and wrote down what i saw; a missing person poster that read MISSING: SUSAN WOODINGS(?) Last seen: 1974 i was very unsure of the spelling of her last name because the image was so goddamn low quality and grainy but its what i saw. this is where tape #3 gets thrown in, which im gonna type again because i like how the formatting looks;
Tape #3 - created 07/09/1978 (BEFORE tape 2?!//1/1??? its more likely than you think)
i wrote down more dates, any dates i saw, i jotted down. i wrote;
Technical Support 1978
then,
Brian Stells (for some reason i dont remember right now)
alrighty this is where the stupid capitalized letters come in, but before it looks like i vomit a keysmash time infinity on this, ill put down the little inbetween things i wrote in the midst of the caps lockalypse like timestamps and stuff, so here you go;
- Reverse at 8:16 which i did but of course didnt write down what i heard. i think it was too warbled to hear anything clear out of it, or it was just the good ol auditory processing issues fucking me over yet again. WAIT yep yes i did here it is: “rosemary would go to the restaurant every night hoping that [her] beloved husband would reappear after being missing for weeks but no response until one day [s]he heard a voice [saying] ‘i know where he is rosie’ coming from the back stage” the bracketed stuff is the corrections, i misheard the audio and thought the audio said “his”, “he” and “singing” like a nimrod
- Brighten at 10:14 which was another missing person poster, but i dont think it had any information on it because i didnt write it down, just;
- Sophie again (pic at 9:08?) (dismemberd and put in Sha) i was stupid and wrong haha idiot it was rosemary who was put in sha but anywho
i starred and underlined a huge thing i discovered which was;
- Walten had 3 kids which i dont remember how i found out but it doesnt matter, its good important info i uncovered.
- Tape #4 - Unkown Date
- recorded 07/12-07/14 1978
- Hilary B, Ashley P & Kevin W i made sure to get these names down as soon as i saw them on screen but then realized shortly after i wouldnt really need to have it as the closed captions made sure i knew which person was talking by using their first initial (capitalized of course) before each line of text. this is the perfect time to announce the arrival of the clusterfuck of capital letters, which is going to include colons which will indicate that the letter before it is the initial of the person talking. without further aedue, here comes another chinese earthquake;
TCWTSTATO(K-9)TBSSFWFCNEHAWBSUBIUC(BSIIDC)OWHISF INBIJTILNSPL(K-9)LCSCKCCCWTTLTLITTTYROTFAJAMHPYYSTCSPMBBWSBIB H:NTPPCCK:DA:HH:YCPRPMWTCBCRAWK:JH:SYYTCPBACPSTBAWCA:TK(?):FMTTCMK:TCPNOA:DTOFK:ITNPPRA:YBUTIRRFH:HKIBESRAIA:TCK:WA:WPCCFTRRIDPEH:GGK:GPA:LKK:WA:HNCGTKMK:YH:IGKA:ESK:MFH:RK:HILRLBNTRPPUWHITRRTPEIFEPH:YWBEBPK:MAHPBTRPTRPEL(LN)HTACPKLIKHPFITSKLTKLB(LB?)ISIBSUBIPRW AEBATHSPUAICTPURTWBBRPHTRTIIIILTCITCUCCP S(bpe, be)WA”IDCPBPSIB
holy shit its finally over okay now onto some MORE of what i wrote down in between and also after that keysmash attack;
12 doors? (backrooms) 27? 26? i was unsure because ashley was unsure too lmfao
found cassette (6/11/78) <- says “discard”? yeah it did
Tape in clown audio, speaking voice; jack, susan, charles(?), rosemary, sophie, last word sounds like “walrus” it was walten lmfao
Ashley died? yeah she did lmfao OR AT LEAST I THINK SO??
starred this one, Reverse @ 17:06, then got this;
“they left the next day, they thought ashley left early, but she was in the backdoors, screaming as much as she could, but no one heard the screams, the following days the caretakers would complain about an awful smell coming from the backdoors, company decided to shut down facility until new advice, the relocate project was unsuccessful. ashley is still there, but she is not screaming anymore, she saw something she wasnt supposed to see and now shes beautiful” the phrase “shes beautiful” was repeating like a bajillion times in that wall of text. then, god motherfuckng bless:
at 17:23 i found the other half of the youtube link, “.be/k07QqEDOfQ” i pieced that bad boy together as instant as i think any form of ramen could never be, but remained ever patient. because i made sure to jot down this before moving onto my next segment;
@ end of vid 2, “shadow man sees* me when lights go off” im an idiot *it was actually “feeds” not “sees”, which AGAIN, i only found out after watching the stupid little film theory video *begins snarling and foaming at the mouth*
okay im not proud to admit im editing this to post it and realized ive lost my notes. well.
might as well post what ive got! if i find my shit ill add onto this, i suppose.

“I was human once. Where were you then?” I pretty thoroughly abandoned Teen Wolf after season 4, and even before then, I didn’t engage with the fandom much, but the voice that you give Scott is enough to keep me with one toe dipped in the pond. He’s funny and clever and kind. Even years since I’ve read anything else in TW, WTWTA continues to be a favourite. Do you feel like talking about where you were planning to go with it? I’ve seen you talk about Lightning Crashes plenty, but not WTWTA.
Thank you so much for this ask! Not gonna lie, Lightning Crashes consumes most of my remaining Teen Wolf attention just because its so freaking big and I've got so much written for it over the years that like, I will riot against myself if I don't finish it because like ugh I didn't write all that just to have it sit unread in my own damn files forever, y'know? So like, while I would love to return to Where Wild Things Are someday I'm not trying to make any claims about that one until LC is off my back. Tbh, I'm trying not to make any claims about fanfic or deadlines until I'm fully recovered from my surgery and whatnot because like......my day to day life is just not reliable and I hate not being able to keep my word on stuff.
BUT. That all said, I do still have a lot of fondness for WWTA and plenty of thoughts about it and willingness to talk about where it was headed for anyone who prefers to just hear about that on the assumption it won't ever really get returned to, cuz like, you are Valid.
And I actually have a lot of fondness for that part you quoted in particular, like, I've heard a lot of good things from people about that whole interaction being a standout for them, and its a personal fave because it pretty succintly got to the heart of some of my biggest issues with Teen Wolf's portrayal of hunters and specifically their ideology and self-justifications.
Anyway, some basics about where that fic was going below the cut, and I'm happy to go into more detail or provide snippets or excerpts from future parts as well.
So the very next chapter after what was posted is actually another Scott POV, and it has Peter showing up to his house at night while his mom's at work, Cora with her uncle as well, and 'summoning' Scott to be by his side as well while Peter goes to meet with another Alpha in a rival pack's territory. (Said Alpha being Ennis, in this case).
This chapter's actually a pretty interesting one IMO because I used it to play around with a personal headcanon I have for chemo-signals. There's actually been a fair amount of theorizing in the scientific (and pseudo scientific, lol) communities about what it might be like if humans could pick up on and interpret chemo-signals, because the science suggests that actually we DO.....just at such a tiny magnification so as to make it impossible to get any like, usable data from what little our noses do pick up.
But a popular theory is that picking up on chemo-signals would produce a physiological like, 'mirroring' of what's being picked up on, like....okay, so there's this thing in a lot of evolutionary traits that are linked to survival mechanisms. Where like, the body in the act of receiving various signals from another being about something being dangerous or threatening or to be avoided, it'll essentially mimic the very signs of distress or warning in the person or creature its picking up those signals from. Its kinda part of an automatic feedback loop, like going through a version of the same reaction a person is seeing in others is part of the body and brain's interpretative process, taking in certain stimuli and then processing it in ways that end up with the brain consciously cluing in that what its seeing is that it should be wary of danger.
I'm explaining it badly, but the basic idea is like.....you know that almost instinctive flinch of horror or fear you get almost in like....sympathy, when you see someone else in obvious distress or terror....even before or without seeing or experiencing whatever it is that's making them so distressed/afraid yourself? That's an example of what I'm talking about here. One creature or person transmits various signals - be they visual by way of stance or expression, or scent, or auditory like screams - and surrounding 'pack creatures' or basically any nearby beings likely to be part of that initial being's pack or herd or community.....they pick up these signals and the message of warning or whatever being conveyed via those signals....and in the process of translating that into some kind of actionable instinct, they ALREADY replicate and thus partially pass on those very same signals themselves.
So the thing about scents that we give off even as humans, is that there's actually a LOT of data and signals encoded into these scents or the various things our bodies produce in association with these scents, like sweat. Even though we can't discern these scents to any degree that allows us to meaningfully interpret the data encoded in them, because we didn't ever end up evolving down the evolutionary path that might have resulted in us being able to smell to that degree....like, the information is still THERE, packed into those scents and odor-producing body by-products.
And that has a lot to do with why we react the way we often do to smelling someone's sweat even to the degree that we DO pick it up.....because think of what bodily reactions tend to produce sweat. Its not just physical exertions, its also in a response to nervousness or discomfort or disgust or outright danger, etc.....and our instinctive responses to scenting the sweat someone produces is often to like....mirror those very same emotions. Just to a much more minor degree than if we were able to smell to the same degree that like, we can see.....and thus pick apart single scents and interpret the various distinct elements and emotions packed INTO those, much like how our eyes are evolved to pick apart visuals and interpret specific details about shapes we see in front of us and give a lot more nuance and specificity to what our eyes are picking up on.
So the theory is that if we WERE able to smell to this keen degree....we would be able to tell a LOT about people's emotional state just from the physiological byproducts they produce in various emotional states.....BUT there'd be a trade-off. We would also be prone to the same tendency to unconsciously mimic the signals we were picking up on.....so our own scent glands, our own expressions, would be likely to 'pass on' the indications of fear or arousal or anxiety that we're smelling.
What intrigued me about this idea, in terms of werewolves who are stated to be able to pick up and interpret chemo-signals......is that it carries with it the implication that actually, most werewolves - at least those in packs - would have EXCELLENT self-control, in contrast to what most hunters believe about werewolves and their lack thereof.
Because think about it......if werewolves are constantly being bombarded with the chemo-signals of those around them, and interpreting these smells and the signals contained within them with the same matter of fact ease most of us translate the visual signals our eyes convey to us......in actuality, werewolves would need to have exceptional control over their own reactions to external stimuli.......or else they'd constantly stand out by having facial expressions and stance cues that seem to change radically with seemingly very little reason for them to do so as far as normal humans around them can tell. And at the same time, the facial reactions they might instinctively flash to in response to picking up say, stark terror from someone who was trying their best to hide that VISUALLY due to the presence of someone they were afraid of like an abuser....the fact that werewolves seemed to often be reacting to things they were picking up on in ways that seemed completely contrary to what visual or auditory cues were evident to everyone else....this would also make them stand out even in a crowd.
So to my mind, the extent to which werewolves were shown deciphering information via chemo-signals on the show suggests that actually, werewolf packs would place a huge focus on teaching their children and their new bitten members both the importance of having firm self-control over their own reactions and emotional state - in order to counter their own instinctive tendencies upon smelling things like strong fear or arousal or anxiety in others - as well as the HOW of doing just that.
Which in turn would lead to the idea that its the LACK of a pack - and the grounding knowledge and presence of other experienced werewolves - which most often results in the existence of the 'out of control' omega werewolves that hunters use to justify the necessity of their existence.
Think how bewildering it would be to constantly be bombarded with signals and cues that suggest that the people around you are at any given moment in heightened states of panic and distress and discomfort. How much that would shred your own self-control if you weren't extremely practiced - and aided - in keeping a clear awareness of your OWN emotional state and feelings at all times, so you don't get swept away by the tide of emotional information you're picking up on all sides. I imagine it wouldn't be that much different walking down the hall of a school picking up the scent chemo-signals of a hundred teenagers in the throes of puberty, hormonal changes, and constant stress and intense feelings.....than say, if you or I were to walk down that same hall and instead of just seeing and hearing a hundred teenagers laughing and talking and going about their day, we saw and heard every one of those teenagers acting out visual and auditory cues of extreme intensity on all sides, from some of them screaming for dozens of different reasons to others being clear images of someone in pain or outright terror, etc.
Its a lot. Its easy to imagine that omega werewolves would not actually be any less 'capable' than any other werewolf, they're not wild or feral because they're lesser or whatever.....its simply for whatever reason, they never were taught the lesson of just how important it is to learn how to not just interpret scent cues, but block them out when necessary or at the very least maintain a conscious awareness of how to keep your own sense of self prioritized in your brain over just....instinctively reacting to everything being flung at you information wise.
Anyway. So a big component of what's to come there is how this might impact the world of Teen Wolf if explored in depth.....
Because on the one hand, this information would be the EXACT thing needed to really put things into clarity re: hunters and werewolves. The reality that actually, most werewolves are exceptional at self-control....that when they're a danger to others, its usually because they're that way with INTENT like Deucalion or Ennis. That most werewolves aren't the inches-from-being-mindless timebombs that hunters stress are the real reason for why they exist. The omegas are actually the odd ones out, and their lack of self-control is something that can actually be mitigated by integration into existing packs or just more avenues for educating themselves on what they are now and what differences that makes in their lives and just their very approaches to life.
But on the other hand, this information is exactly what werewolves like Scott CAN'T inform hunters of en masse.....because of the existence of hunters like Gerard and Kate who actually don't CARE about the code and the idea of just existing to protect humanity from the out of control dangerous 'monsters'....but rather just want to kill werewolves for other reasons. Because hunters who were fully in the know as to how much control the average werewolf has over their emotional state....as well as WHY its so important for them to learn and practice such exceptional self-control......because of how VULNERABLE to reacting to the emotional states of others werewolves are......they would no doubt be able to weaponize this against werewolves. After all, even exceptional self control is bound to waver if say, in the presence of large numbers of humans who are being deliberately influenced to give off certain scent cues in mass quantities......just so hunters can pick out at a distance who seems to be reacting to things none of the humans present seem to be aware of, etc.
So things like this are meant to become central to Scott and Allison's burgeoning relationship and the everpresent question they each have for how much they can really trust the other - and trust the other WITH - no matter how much they want to. Even as Scott starts to fall for Allison and believe the best of her, he's very aware of her still existant ties to her family, her own 'pack' - and despite being in possession of so much knowledge about werewolves that could most likely open Allison's eyes even further to how inaccurate most of the information she and others like her father are working off of is......Scott's equally keenly aware that giving her that information COULD still backfire and put his own pack in danger if it for whatever reason doesn't end up being enough to fully bring her over to his side.
Basically the big theme of the story has always been about who can you trust, even when you really WANT to trust them, because even people with similar moralities can have conflicting priorities and its not always enough to just be on the same page in one of those respects.
Anyway, the next chapter is big on introducing the importance of chemo-signals as Peter drives to his meeting with Ennis and tells Cora and Scott to settle between themselves who will accompany him inside (a clear position of prominence relevant to the ongoing power struggle between Cora and Scott for influence among their packmates). And most of that happens by way of the two of them 'scent-talking' to each other in the backseat. Because a side-effect of the idea that smelling chemo-signals prompts certain facial cues in response, as well as exceptional control over their own emotions and thus accompanying physiological cues, means that its possible for werewolves to have very involved silent discussions just by deliberately invoking various scents for the other, etc.
Cora of course wins that mini-battle between them, by way of the leverage she has over Scott now that she knows he's able to lie to Peter without betraying it with his scent or his heartbeat. Peter would never risk having someone capable of lying to him with no sign, so that's as good of a death sentence if he finds out. But at the same time, its something Cora knows she can't milk for too long, because the longer SHE has the information that Scott is capable of that, the less effective it becomes as leverage.....since hiding that from Peter could massively backfire and put her at risk too, meaning there's only so long she can use it as leverage against Scott before it becomes a case of mutually assured destruction and he says 'go ahead, tell Peter, and once he finds out how long you've kept that from him see what position that leaves you in.'
So Cora knows this information is best used sooner rather than later, so she leverages it off the bat, to get Scott to cave on this one and so she's the one to accompany Peter to his top secret meeting with Ennis and learn whatever they're talking about and what the basis of this alliance they seem to have formed is. Also, Peter comes out of the meeting carrying a mysterious box he got from Ennis, that seems to have been his goal all along, and has Cora troubled, but unwilling to divulge any information about what it might be.
Scott however gets something out of the meeting too, because even while left outside, he discovers some key information.....Ennis' pack includes Jiang and Tierney, two members of Brett's old pack that he thought were dead. Ennis had 'taken them in' though they really didn't have a ton of choice in the matter and were less than thrilled about it....which gives Scott the start of an actual plan. Which thickens once he learns Brett's sister Lorilee is alive as well, and a member of Kali's pack, along with refugees from another wiped out pack, the Primals.
Essentially, where this is all building towards is over time, Scott starts reaching out to the exploited and miserable teens stuck at the bottom of abusive packs they never asked to be a part of but are afraid to leave....and begins building an alliance of teens across multiple local packs. None of them are strong enough to overthrow their own Alphas on their own, but together, they could be strong enough to overthrow a single Alpha, and then consolidate as a pack of their own behind a single teen Alpha.
Of course, problem is Cora figures this out eventually as well, and begins building her own rival alliance among teens from Kali's pack and others, and it essentially becomes a race to get an alliance strong enough to topple Peter built first, before the other can make their move.
On Allison's side of things, she begins mentoring the younger teens that Scott picked out as being eyed by his Alpha as potential recruits. This involves teaching them archery at her house one weekend, only to then discover from Gerard's conversation with her parents that hunters recovered the arrow Allison had shot through Isaac's shoulder way back in the first chapter. They found blood on it, and are planning to use it to see if the person that blood belongs to is in the system at all. Which Isaac is, due to being in the foster care system, even if only nominally.
Feeling complicit and not ready to trust the werewolves yet but not willing to feel personally responsible for the death of someone she goes to school with, Allison alerts Scott to the danger. Which in turn leads to the pack under Peter's orders, like, breaking into the facility where the arrow and blood are being analyzed and destroy the sample before it can trace back to Isaac and from there, the rest of them by association.
Problem is, its Matt's first official 'outing' on a werewolf mission and he decides to revel in his newfound power by killing a guard. Welcome to Team Blue Eyes, Mattie. That didn't take long. Not that anyone is surprised, but Scott is a bit screwed by it. Because now Allison is furious and retreating from their slowly building alliance/relationship because she feels guilty that her information led to someone getting killed by a werewolf and thinks she never should have shared her intel even though Scott tries to stress that he had no control over Matt and could do nothing to stop it.
So that kinda puts a roadblock in the Scallison that takes time to work past, though it will of course get worked past.
Meanwhile elsewhere, Peter's plans for turning more freshmen are delayed when Cora and Scott both feel pressed to alert him of a surprising development at Beacon Hills High before the other tells Peter first. Suddenly there are two new werewolves at school - albeit very nervous, scared and confused werewolves - and they aren't transfer students. Someone turned two of their classmates, Tracy and Josh, and that someone was NOT Peter. So now Peter is outraged because someone is turning people in his territory which is a clear challenge from another Alpha, and he wants to know who. Which leads to Erica and Boyd being assigned to tail the new wolves and see who they lead back to.....as well as both Scott and Cora, by now accelerating their efforts to build up support for their positions both inside and outside of the pack, like both of them now make plays to get Erica and Boyd from the No Man's Land they've been residing in, and get them to finally pick a side between the two rivals for Peter's Alpha crown. With the information they glean from following the two new surprise werewolves being vital to both Scott and Cora's plans.
The Alpha in question turns out to be Deucalion, who is back in the area after years away where he seemed uninterested in werewolf politics, but now seems to be intent on building up a new pack for himself across multiple Alphas' territories in earnest.
Meanwhile meanwhile, Scott has started to worry about where Theo's loyalties actually lie, as Boyd informs him that part of what's kept him from throwing in with Scott is Boyd keeps his nose to the ground to stay very informed on what's what and keep abreast of what everyone else is doing at all times - Boyd is very big on the idea that knowledge and thus information is power - so Boyd has been paying more attention to Theo than even Scott has lately, given how much Scott's got going on at the moment. And Theo's been making some moves of his own that have Boyd distrustful of just how much Scott ACTUALLY has his loyalty, and thus Boyd is wary of hitching his wagon to the prospective Alpha who is perhaps not as well or thoroughly supported as he thinks he is, or is counting on being.
So Theo being Theo will complicate matters considerably. Note that I don't go with unnecessarily evil Theo ever, as that's boring, but I always fuck with absolutely and necessarily self-interested and amoral Theo because that's anti-boring. So Theo's not out to screw Scott just to screw him (well not THAT way at least), but Theo is big on covering his bases and he's contemplating making his own bid for power because he's not sure he trusts that Scott can pull this off and Cora's not an option given that he HAS until now been Team Scott in all visible ways, so he's seeking....other options. Just so he can have the most possible options and vet them thoroughly before deciding on a course of action, naturally.
The big tipping point to all of this will come when someone betrays Scott to some hunters and leads to him being captured and identified as a werewolf by some hunters loosely affiliated with Allison's family.....and Allison makes her choice here for good and risks everything to rescue Scott which might involve someone dying. Not a main character. But uh, there definitely is some dying and it makes Allison and Scott both feel things like guilt, regret, self-recrimination and also "I did what I did and that's that about that" with only like 60% of that being bravado to cover up omg I have no idea what I'm even doing anymore.
In order to find somewhere for Scott to recuperate that is not her house, because lol duh, and is not Scott's house, because Peter lol duh, a desperate Allison ends up looping in Lydia, Danny, Jackson and Stiles, and enlisting their help in hiding Scott at Lydia's lakehouse until he recovers. This leads to them all finally being in the know and uncomfortably allying with Isaac and some other werewolf members of Team Scott, who are of course furious at the betrayal of any werewolf giving up one of their own to hunters, let alone Scott.....which leads to the twins making a surprise shift in allegiance, because they think Cora was behind the hunters finding out and that's too far for them. It was NOT in fact Cora, but it might have been someone ON Team Cora who thought they were doing what Cora would have wanted them to do. And by might have I mean definitely and also they were Not Correct in their assumptions about what Cora would want. She and Scott are rivals and she's an antagonist here but she's not evil or even as bloodthirsty as she pretends to be for appearances, but she like Theo is looking out for number one and what she believes is best for what remains of a Hale pack, any Hale pack.
Other stuff happens, Liam does get turned, Mason gets his druidic knowledge on because that's a Trope that no Kalen story will ever be without, and the ultimate showdown between teens and asshole adult werewolves will end with Scott True Alpha level-upping but Peter definitely will still die as will several other Alphas and Scott is not the only teen who ends up an Alpha at the end of things though each teen Alpha will for now go their own way with their own pack made up of kids from the two teen wolf alliances. There will be confrontations with the hunters before the end too, beyond just rescuing Scott from the NPC hunters who are destined for Demiseville, population them, but the hunters will not be 'totally defeated' in as much as that's even a possibility, and the story was always meant to end with the McCall pack and some human allies taking to the road to find somewhere else to establish a territory and build their strength (and graduate high school) before making a full stand against hunters.
Backstory is meant to be filled in all the way through, with a focus on Scott and Derek's not-at-all-like-canon relationship as for the first year or so after Scott was turned, Derek was still around and did his best to help guide and teach Scott while acting as a buffer against his uncle which Scott greatly appreciated and his thoughts of 'fuck you Derek' should be taken as unreliable narration and mostly just cynical humor cuz he misses him. With said backstory reveals culminating in the eventual shocker of how Derek died (surprise, it was Peter in the parlor with the backstabbing and also candlestick), Cora finding out, cue Cora Not Being Very Pleased With Uncle Peter At The Moment, Actually, and like....other shenanigans are had.
Also also there may be a road trip involved at the veeeeeery end, that involves the mysterious box Peter traded something to Ennis for, which may or may not be magic and resurrection-oriented, but also definitely is both those things and aimed at a grand finale of teen Derek rising from mystical waters being like "who the fuck are you" at Scott who smiles and says "we're brothers."
And that's what you missed on Glee.

Blessings hcs
In response to the wonderful hcs @secret-engima posted.
Ifrit
-Fire and Knowledge. A burning desire for knowledge, and seeking it out rather than waiting. Change. Burning the old to make way for the new, consuming something to make something else. A certain ability for healing - but less healing and more targeted Destruction. Holy Fire purifies. It burns away everything but that which the person believes to be part of themselves. Reborn Anew from Fiery Death. Ifrit’s Blessed have fire immunity (but not sunburns, that’s Bahamut’s domain), wield the Holy Fire, gain a talent for learning new knowledge, and a proficiency with tech.
Leviathan
-The Sea and Tides. Pretty much all of @secret-engima‘s hcs, but I do add that Leviathan’s Blessed can also heal. As the Sea grants life, so do her Blessed, weaving healing magic through their voices. They are the only ones who can heal multiple people at a time.
Shiva
-Ice and Preservation. Cold immunity and Ice Elemancy. Illusions and a certain amount of trickery and mischief, but also the ability to slow. Where Ifrit purifies through destruction, Shiva slows until it halts. Of course, just as Ifrit’s Blessed can destroy themselves through too-rapid change, Shiva’s Blessed run the risk of Stagnation.
Titan
-The Earth. In stone and soil and metal and plants. His Blessed draw their power from his domain, from the natural magics of gems and metals and herbs. They have Titan’s durability, his stamina, his stubborn determination. His Blessed can draw upon the life of the earth to heal through potions and enchanted items, slowly but surely working. They are at home in forests and underground, and never get lost, and they can sense the health/quality of the stone/wood/soil/etc that they touch.
Ramuh
-The Storm and Judgement. Very much secret-engima’s hcs here. I would only add that Ramuh’s Blessed, due to their keen senses, are the first to sense injury and infection around them.
Bahamut
-War and Light. Canon abilities. I hc that Ardyn’s odd form of healing is an odd mutation - sort of a half-way point between LCs and Oracles. The self-contained nature of LCs, but the healing capability of the Oracles. The Draconian is the only Astral to have two distinct Blessings, where the others have one Blessing that their Blessed make use of to their preferences. I also hc that Bahamut is considered one of the three Life Astrals (along with Titan and Leviathan, opposite Ramuh, Shiva, and Ifrit as Astrals of Death), but no one in the modern day knows why. But Bahamut’s Blessing bestows healing, and he is depicted with the same Life motifs that are present in images of Leviathan and Titan. (Some theorize that it’s because the dead cannot war, only the living, and that light is such a crucial thing for life to thrive.)

" Love is the bane of honor, the death of duty. What is honor compared to a woman's love? What is duty against the feel of a newborn son in your arms ... or the memory of a brother's smile? Wind and words. Wind and words. We are only human, and the gods have fashioned us for love. That is our great glory, and our great tragedy." - Maester Aemon
This must be one of the most overused quotes both in fandom and on the show to justify or theorize on Jon’s actions.
Before season 8,  ‘Love is the death of duty’ was used in some ridiculously stupid theories that include Jon not bothering to fight ice zombies and instead rushing to save his true love Sansa from evil Dany or sexually manipulating Dany for his true love Sansa and so on. On the show, they used it to justify Jon having to kill Dany since as per Tyrion, duty is the death of love.
Here’s the thing these folks don’t seem to get. This is a plot point that’s already been resolved with Jon over the first 5 books.
This quote basically served two purposes. One was the hint of Ned’s big secret - sacrificing his honor for Lyanna and baby Jon.
The second was Maester Aemon trying to explain to Jon about why the NW brothers are not allowed to marry and have family because of the conflicts that would arise between brothers in the NW. And he does this to make Jon understand why he cannot run away to help his father and brother like he wants to do. Jon does run away and is brought back by his friends and forgiven by LC Mormont and Jon accepts that his place is at the wall.
Forgive me, Father. Robb, Arya, Bran... forgive me, I cannot help you. He has the truth of it. This is my place. "I am... yours, my lord. Your man. I swear it. I will not run again” - Jon, AGOT
Here Jon chooses duty over love. As we see over the next 4 books, he does so again and again. Conflicted between helping family and friends as he keeps getting bad news, he chooses duty time and again. The human heart in conflict with itself. He gives up Ygritte to help the watch and she ends up dying.
She just smiled at that. "D'you remember that cave? We should have stayed in that cave. I told you so."
“We'll go back to the cave," he said. "You're not going to die, Ygritte. You're not."
“Oh." Ygritte cupped his cheek with her hand. "You know nothing, Jon Snow," she sighed, dying. - Jon VII ASOS
Jon has already chosen duty over his lover.
And finally we get to book 5 where fArya is now in Ramsay’s hands and Jon is mentally tortured the whole of ADwD at the idea of his little sister with Ramsay. And then he reads this:
I want my bride back … I want my bride back … I want my bride back … "I think we had best change the plan," Jon Snow said. ADWD - Jon XIII
This is the pivotal moment when Jon Snow finally says fuck this shit, to hell with all this duty nonsense and decides to lead an army of wildlings south of the wall to attack Ramsay - which leads to mutiny, assassination, wildlings and crows probably fighting and destroying each other in the next book and the end of the NW as a neutral institution of the realm.
And that’s the conclusion of this ‘Love or duty’ plot for Jon. He ended up choosing love over duty and paid the ultimate price.
Ironically,  Jon has this in common with the woman he despised - Catelyn Stark. Like Cat basically destroying Robb’s campaign by releasing Jaime for her daughters freedom, Jon’s mission to save Arya undermined and destroyed the NW as an institution.
Show Jon on the other hand is perennially stuck in ‘duty over love’ mode. Because this is GOT, and characters never grow or change or learn from their experiences or make different choices. They just keep doing the same things again and again. Because according to D&D this is the entertaining story telling that ‘mothers and NFL players’ want.
So show Jon once again makes his weary trudge to Dany and once again chooses duty over love.
I don’t know if Jon is going to be killing Dany in the books or if she is going to die some other way. All I am pretty damn sure of is that whatever happens it’s NOT going to be about all this duty or love stuff. Because that shit’s done with in the books with respect to Jon and retreading old ground is just going to make for repetitive reading.
As of the last book, Jon Snow has made that choice and he chose the person he loves most in the world - Arya - over his duty to protect the realm.
