“The Singing Reindeer”, also known as “The Happy Reindeer”, or “Dancer, Prancer, and Nervous”, was an Alvin & The Chipmunks-inspired group created by Russ Regan(Harold Rustigan) and Robert Plaisted(Bobby Please), signed by Capitol Records, to compete with said Chipmunks in the late 50s/very early 60s.

Obviously, The Chipmunks won over the majority of the competition, but even with the few songs The Singing Reindeer released (“The Happy Reindeer”, “Dancer’s Waltz”, “I Wanna Be An Easter Bunny”, “The Happy Birthday Song”), we still think they are a worthy competitor.

There was a vinyl released of “Instrumental Clips/Voice Tracks” that I want to get my mitts on since it seems to be the hardest to find. On the A side, there are voice tracks titled “Weather”, “Time”, “Shopping Days”, and “Merry Christmas”, and on the B side is where the instrumental clips are (from what I’ve seen it’s from “The Happy Reindeer”). If anyone reading this is selling a copy of this particular vinyl, we will happily buy it from you 🥺

Despite the fact that The Singing Reindeer have their own songs and are quite different than their main competitor, the majority of their legacy is being called a copy or a knockoff of The Chipmunks.

We got into The Singing Reindeer because of the fact that “The Walten Files” used “The Happy Birthday Song” as part of their OST, and it seems to be how a lot of people in the present day have come to learn of their existence. I think that’s really cool and also important, since it ensures that another bit of old music doesn’t get lost to time.

We currently own the vinyl for “I Wanna Be An Easter Bunny”/“The Happy Birthday Song”, but we hope to one day own a copy of each of the vinyls they released.

EEEP, I opened my Christmas gift from @timebird84 early because it arrived early and she gave me permission to! 😆 I did leave it under the Christmas tree for a few hours to increase the suspense and to make my tree feel like it’s doing its job 😂 ...but alas...one can only wait so long!

AAAHHH what a great assortment of gifts!!! 🥰 That cute armadillo’s name is Armand now. 1) Armand is one of the main vampires from the Anne Rice series 2) There are armadillos in the 1931 Dracula movie (one person theorized that armadillos are a status symbol...aka only wealthy vampires get to have them since they’re difficult to obtain in Europe. Armadillos like to eat bugs and worms, which is helpful for ensuring that their master doesn’t wake up in a coffin full of creepy crawlies every day 😂) 3) Obvious similarity between “Armand” and “Armadillo” 😉

Omg, who knew there was a whole world of Lebkuchen out there that isn’t just the traditional 4-inch round cookie?!?! (Clearly, Germans knew 😛) I had no idea there was so much variety! I’m excited to try them all! But I’ll have to do it in moderation, which means it could be a few months until they all get eaten 😜

The cuckoo clocks, nutcrackers, and sea creature items are fantastic. I already put the magnets up on my fridge. And that’s a hardcore rubber ducky 🤘💀🤘 The first thing my spouse said upon seeing it was, “Skullduckery!” (a play on “skulduggery” 🤪)

And now to tell you the tragic story of Beanie (grab the tissues, guys). When I was a child, the local newspaper would hold this activity once a year where if you read a specific section of the newspaper every day for a week and answered some questions correctly, you’d earn an Argus Buck for each day. Then at the end, you could use those bucks to buy something at a real store! Anyway, I faithfully earned a buck each day and then my mom took me to a toy store where I could use the bucks. I chose a beautiful sand-filled crab that had a jellybean-like design on the fabric. Something like this but less realistic-looking:

Naturally, I named him Beanie. He was a great crab that I played with and treasured a lot. One day in 5th grade, I decided to bring him to class. A girl named Sabrina took quite a liking to Beanie and asked if she could take him home. I didn’t want to say yes, but she insisted that she would return him the next day. I finally relented since she wouldn’t stop asking.

The next day, I went up to her and asked her where Beanie was (y’all know where this is going 🙃). She said that she was babysitting a boy and the boy took Beanie home and she didn’t realize until it was too late. Apparently, there was no getting Beanie back after that (yes, the more likely story is she just decided to keep Beanie for herself).

I broke into tears and she apologized and I was a mess for the whole day. After that, I never let anyone “borrow” my plushies ever again.

Years ago, I came across a slap bracelet with a little crab on it at an aquarium gift shop. He kind of reminded me of Beanie, so I bought him and it slightly filled the hole in my heart (scroll back up to see him trying to be Armand’s new belt)

And now, Sonja, you’ve given me a sand crab! That’s about the same size as Beanie! And actually filled with sand (unlike Beano the slap bracelet crab)!

😭😭😭 Maybe this is everything coming full circle! Beanie’s spirit has been reincarnated in this new crab and he wants me to heal and move on 🦀💗 You could’ve chosen ANY sand creature...but you chose the crab. Surely...it means something 🥲✨

In conclusion, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE THOUGHTFUL PRESENTS @timebird84!!! I’m so grateful to have a friend like you! 🤗😆 HAVE AN AMAZING BIRTHDAY BECAUSE YOU DESERVE IT!!! 🥳🎂🎈🎊🎁🍰🎉

Happy milestone to my baby

A couple of days ago, Broken Pieces, my hansa lives AU set post TW3 with Ciri as a witcher, reached 200 kudos.

It's a tiny number in comparison to fandom juggernauts; it's an unthinkable number, considering how many people in the fandom hates Cahir/Ciri. I'm still in awe at how much of an outlier that fic is within the tag.

My warmest, heartfelt thank you to everyone who read it, liked it, commented on it. Chances are I have your comments saved as screenshots to get me through the dark days.

Between Ciri being a brat, Cahir being a smitten idiot, Geralt being A Dad, Regis being Himself, Milva being Tired and Nenneke being Done with everyone, I bloody love this story, and I'm delighted for this late birthday/early Christmas present. 🥰

Today was a really good day.

My mom came up late in the morning, bringing my birthday present - a large photograph of the Smoky Mountains at dawn, on canvas. I’d ordered it as a gift to myself and had it shipped to my parents’ house, since we live in a rural area and sometimes it’s hard to get bigger things sent here. Mister and I tried to bring it home after Thanksgiving but our car was too small! 😤 Anyway, it’s here now and it looks GREAT.

I gave Mom her Christmas gift. In our family growing up, we always watched the George C. Scott version of A Christmas Carol. (We watched other versions too, but this one was a must.) The soundtrack has always been a favorite of Mom’s. The main theme “God Bless Us, Everyone” is woven throughout the whole story. The composer, Nick Bicat, sells the sheet music for it on his website. After buying two copies (I figured Mom could use one for playing it on the piano and the other for framing - she’s framed another piece of music she loves before) I took a deep breath and emailed through the website, asking if Nick could sign a copy for her. You never know if you’ll get a reply on requests like that - someone else could be handling the emails.

Nick replied back to me personally. He did sign the sheet music, with a personal note to Mom 😊

I’m keeping the envelope it arrived in, because I don’t usually receive mail from England ��󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧❤️

Mom totally cried getting her gift. ❤️😊❤️ Success!!

We ate lunch at a cute coffee shop in the nearest bigger town. I hadn’t been to this particular place, and it was fantastic! It reminded me a lot of my favorite coffee shop in our old town. I’ll definitely have to take Mister there. After lunch we did a little shopping, mostly for Jonas. My little boy keeps getting bigger…

Jonas was so good. He slept a bit in the car and at the coffee shop. He woke up while we were eating and just sat in his car seat quietly. I happened to look down at some point and saw him looking at me. ❤️❤️❤️

He did get antsy at Kohl’s so Mom took him out of the car seat and carried him. He’s not nine months old yet and I’m already mourning when he’ll be too big to carry/snuggle. 😭

Mom had to leave soon after we got home. It was really nice just to chat. My dad’s been having some health issues (these have been ongoing for several years) so we talked about him a lot.

There was a small box that arrived on our porch before Mom got here. I’d moved it into the office; it was heavy, and it was addressed to Mister. When he got home he said to open it, because it was a Christmas gift to “both of us”.

You all…He bought a WEIGHTED BLANKET.

I’m in love 🥰

So yeah. Early Christmas gift, giving Mom her gift, exploring new places. Mister. Jonas. Love.
