Larry Rivers was born this day in 1922, Yitzroch Loiza Grossberg, in the Bronx, one of the great mavericks, one of the great American artist-heroes. He passed away in 2002 just shy of his 79th birthday.

Larry and Allen went way back, at least as far as Robert Frank & Alfred Leslie’s 1959 beat classic Pull My Daisy where he played Milo, the railroad brakeman. Their lives always seemed to intersect, and in 1995, 2 years before Allen died, he moved directly below Larry in his East Village loft. Larry even made an appearance at Allen’s deathbed in his pink silk pajamas playing his saxophone shortly after Allen passed away.

Después de un paseo👒 por Cagliari decidí almorzar⌚ con mis amigos ( cuando aún estábamos en zona amarilla😿) en unos de los pubs más famosos de la ciudad, el @oldsquarecagliari 🍀 Quiero contarles que en general todo fue genial🆒, la atención fue muy amable y la comida Yummmy 🐙 deliciosa 🤤. Mañana les mostraré lo que comí 😛 Hoy quiero contarles un poco más sobre la cerveza🍺 que tomé, para que cuando vayan la disfruten 😸. La Brewdog Punk IPA es una cerveza escocesa estilo India🇧🇩 Pale Ale, inspirada en las tendencias📈 de selección de lúpulo y la elaboración de la cerveza🍻 artesanal estadounidense🇺🇲. De hecho es una cerveza muy lupulada, con un gusto👅 afrutado, una sensación de suavidad🍑 y fuerza, una mezcla mágica para paladares inexpertos 😺, pero que disfrutamos un buen vaso de cerveza. Portrait. Larry Rivers’ mother-in-law, Bertha “Berdie” Burger, was his favorite model until she died in 1957. Rivers said of Berdie, “She was a devoted creature. Berdie is the closest thing I’ve ever known to a saint. … She had all the signs of even being a little dense, but like saints are thought to be, she had no ego. She seemed to just be glad to be around and happy to be alive.” Berdie in the Garden is just one of the many paintings that Rivers made of Berdie sitting in the garden of the house in Southhampton, New York. Conservation of this picture was made possible by a generous contribution from Al and Dena Naylor and Patty Canney through the Art Champions program. Size: 62 1/2 x 52 x 2 in. (158.8 x 132.1 x 5.1 cm) Medium: Oil on canvas
