“A simple haunting,” Xue Yang said, mimicking the way Xiao Xingchen had said it. “Or that’s what it was supposed to be, anyway. Want to bet on it getting messier?” 

“No,” Wei Wuxian said. “Not really.” He shifted his stance slightly, cocking his head to one side. “I could call Lan Zhan.” 

Xue Yang made a face. “And wait while he makes his way here? Sure, if you want to stick around. I’m not.” He cocked his head a little to one side. “Besides, I don’t want to deal with high and mighty Hanguang-jun’s judgment if shit gets nasty.” He expected some kind of sanctimonious protest at that one, why, Xue Yang, what do you mean ‘nasty,’ I’m a good boy now. Wei Wuxian looked thoughtful, though, and after a moment he nodded. 

“I see your point,” he said. 

“You see my point because I’m right,” Xue Yang said. “Are you coming or not?”

fanfiction trope: bodyswap. I'd have said werewolf AUs but I'm pretty sure you wrote one.

I actually do not think I have written a werewolf au which is sort of shocking to me. have written a fair amount of werewolf original fiction, though

bodyswap: this one's actually a perfect C for me, maybe C-, because it is a trope that has hypothetical potential to me and I can imagine it being done in a way that I would enjoy (and I wrote one, once), but by and large and more often it hits me as a straight up squick.

I think it is something about the idea of having one's body inhabited by somebody else being pretty horrifying to me personally, and I feel like in bodyswap situations it's often not treated as such.

but like. there's something there, potentially, about exploring identity and perspective, in the hypothetical sense. that's what keeps it from being a D or an F - it doesn't feel fair to give it an inherently failing grade. I just haven't yet found a fic that's managed to hit that.

Zolf/Wilde and Kell/Delilah

Zolf/Wilde is... not my favorite thing. I don't hate it, and like that they're canonically a QPR very very much but it just, overall, didn't progress in a way that got me invested and watching a lot of the fandom get very invested made me decide to kind of give it space. I've definitely been the person to get extremely invested in the fan-favorite ship in other fandoms, so like, no hate to the shippers; I get it, it's just not the one for me this time.

Kell/Lila are my babies and I was just thinking about them the other day and how much I love them. I love the way they're written, I love that they push and challenge each other and that they don't always see eye-to-eye while never having that devolve into hurting the relationship. I love that they're both incredibly important to each other and that's narratively important, but the romance still feels... kind of understated? IDK how to phrase it like, I guess it never feels like they needed to be in love for the plot to work, they just naturally fell in love throughout the plot and I enjoy when that's how romances play out in media. I also love that, in spite of both being characters who are more practical realists, they do get incredibly sappy when they're together - and it still feels in character.

ok ok ok christmas tree incident

ahh the one i should've written two christmases ago 😬 my buddy ingrahm helped me a lot with it!

it's the story of lumberjack geralt and yen & ciri who bought a christmas tree from him. and yen is carrying the tree back to their car but then drops her glove and geralt saw that and he comes up behind her to give it back and he's like "you dropped your - " and yen turns around and whacks him in the head :D

ciri goes "MOM YOU WHACKED THE NICE LUMBERJACK MAN IN THE HEAD"

yen drives him to the ER cause he can't see for shit. she also keeps apologizing every 5 seconds.

somehow geralt fucks things up, yen storms out with ciri :(

but! he still has her glove, and it was an expensive one and also her favorite. she she goes back to the shop and geralt apologizes. yen is all "you need to work harder if you want me to accept your apology."

so geralt goes "well how am i supposed to work harder if i can't find you to try again?"

and yen's like "fuck you. fine, here's my card but this better be good."

(spoiler alert: she doesn't regret it) ;)
