Rose Gold
Book: The Royal Romance
Pairing: Hana Lee x Kiara Theron
Rating: PG
Word Count: 4, 304 words
Content Warning: Mention of Gun Violence, Character Injury.
Summary: Six months after King Liam and Queen Esther's wedding, Hana and Kiara take their next big step as a couple.
A/N: Set in the P&Tverse. Since P&T spans the timelines of Books 2 and 3 (the Engagement Tour and the Unity Tour + Liam & Esther's wedding), most of this fic takes place after the series is meant to end, and there are references to things that happen there that aren't canon.
The first half of the fic, however, takes place just before the group reunites with the MC and Drake at the safe house (TRR3, Ch 1).
I've borrowed a few elements from Hana's own engagement to the MC in the books: the rose gold ring, the coin throwing ritual at the foundation and the proposal at the lake.

October 14th, 2017. Half past Midnight.
Foolishness. Sheer foolishness.
The voice inwardly chiding her right now sounded suspiciously like her mother; for that reason alone she was desperate to ignore it.
But what else would one call an impulse to jump out of a car that could take her in complete secrecy to the city's best safe house, only to race to Argyros and Sons - Cordonia's premier jewellery store - for a gift she wasn't even sure would be accepted...a promise she wasn't even sure its intended recipient would want?
"Looking for something specific, Your Grace?"
Surprised, Hana looked up from the case displaying an assortment of glittering diamond rings. The eyes that met hers in a speculative survey were ocean-blue, marked by wizened crow's feet. It was at the tip of her tongue to correct him (Lady Hana, sir!) when she spotted the Twitter feed on the iPhone in his hand.
News sure does travel fast around the Capitol!
But no sooner had that thought left her head, than the riptide of memories began to flood her.
The Homecoming Ball. Hors d'oeuvres. Speeches. Fireworks. Announcements. Please welcome Esther DuPont, Duchess of Valtoria, and Hana Lee, Duchess of Krysanthe. Cheers. Expectant Gazes. And then...
Darkness. Gunshots. The acrid taste of fear.
Hana bit back a grimace. How long would memories of tonight haunt her? How long would it be before she heard people address her by her new title, without memories of the violence that followed?
She held her handbag with a sudden death-grip, forcing herself to breathe. To push forth happier, sweeter memories.
Unbidden, comes the one memory that had managed to keep her sane this night.
Her laughter.
Sharp. Raucous. Loud. Jarring against the tinkling sounds of cutlery and glassware, as far away as one could get from the soft, windchime quality of delicate laughter, that every female courtier was taught to emulate.
She thought she'd known love until that moment, fool that she was. Thought that no matter who she dated, no matter how distant she'd be from those memories of the social season - Esther would somehow remain her first and forever love.
Until she had taken that one fateful look at Kiara's wildly joyous face, heard her cackle - the kind one would never normally dare to do at court - and realized with piercing clarity that if she were to compare her feelings for these two women, they would be nowhere close.
Her love for Esther had all the subdued warmth of a crackling bonfire. But these newfound feelings for Kiara?? They made her feel like she was plunging herself headfirst into a raging volcano.
Something within Hana had trembled violently in that moment; some premonition that felt searing in its finality.
Kiara was the one. She was all Hana had ever wanted, without knowing it; all that Hana would ever want, from now till eternity. The one in whose arms she would want to stir awake, every day for the rest of her life.
Kiara Thorne, or no one. Kiara Thorne, or lifelong loneliness.
The phrase rang in her ears like a verdict: final, eternal, unchangeable.
When Hana opened her eyes, she found to her consternation that they were blurry from unshed tears. Quickly blinking them away, she noted dully how different the rings on the display now looked.
Certainly she must have moved to another part of the store without knowing. Where before she'd seen glittering, brilliant, ostentatious diamonds, set in white gold and platinum...now she saw stones nestled in the embrace of a warmer, almost blush-toned metal.
Rose gold.
The metal that was all the rage in her mother's birthplace Bethulia, for its delicate shimmer and soft pink hue. Mama had told her often enough in her childhood that their barony's love for it went far beyond just the colour...that her mother - Hana's Nanimaa - loved it for being such a perfect union of gold, silver and copper...
A whisper of a memory of Nanimaa, the one time she'd ever seen her. At a fountain, glowing from the glimmer of abandoned coins.
It took her less than a minute to find exactly what she didn't know she'd been looking for. Had you asked the jeweller about her, he would have told you that the newly appointed Duchess of Krysanthe had chosen her ring with the greatest confidence. The confidence of a woman who had probably wooed her beloved, confessed her love, basked in the joy of being loved back.
A confidence Hana didn't feel.
When she returned to the limo, she was greeted with the sight of a pensive Liam, rubbing the frown between his brows absently with his fingers. A telltale muscle jumped inside his jaw.
"Any news?" Hana whispered, almost dreading the answer.
"Yes," his voice was grainy from exhaustion and guilt. "Three people injured. Bastien, Esther's press secretary, and...."
"And?" Her voice had gone small and high, that a fearful child's.
"And Lady Kiara. She was..."
Hana blinked once, then blinked again. Liam's mouth was moving, yet no sound seemed to come out. All that she could hear was a low, keening noise, like a muffled siren...or like the moan of a woman in terrible pain.
Kiara. Kiara. Kiara.
--
May 12th, 2018. Afternoon.
"How far from the palace are you taking us?" Kiara asks, her voice alight with laughter.
"Not even outside its gates," Hana replies, grinning. Kiara looks down at their fingers laced together, palms almost touching.
They've been together for just six months, and still somehow, the lines on Hana's palm feel as familiar to her now as her own. Without even looking she can conjure up the memory of the heartline on Hana's left palm at a moment's notice - long and deep, starting from her index finger, suggesting she would be a wonderful lover with a very fruitful love experience - and her marriage line, stretching from one end of her palm all the way to her ring finger...suggesting friendly in-laws.
(The thought of luring Hana to marry her under the premise of palmistry is sounding more and more tempting by the minute)
Involuntarily - perhaps to stop herself from checking her trouser pockets once again for that tiny box she took from her vault today - Kiara's hand tightens around Hana's.
Can she dare to hope that fortunate beloved could be her?
She steals a glance in Hana's direction, noting with alarm that her fingers are trembling in Kiara's hand.
"We're here," she says, her voice suddenly small and quivering against the gurgle of water in the courtyard fountain. It's been a palace fixture for several decades now - ornate and imposing - a legacy from King Liam's formidable grandmother, the late Queen Mother Cassandra. According to Kiara's father, the woman had married into the family as a young princess from Monterisso, and for her foreignness alone was expected to be crushed by the strictures of the palace and the expectations of her people - yet in a decade's time she had somehow became the most imposing figure there! There was very little in the palace that didn't have her stamp of approval first.
As they come closer, Kiara sees the one thing Queen Mother Cassandra may not have predicted when this fountain was built - the glimmer of coins, all gleaming in the sunlight like they were minted just yesterday.
Her own smile begins to tremble on her lips, even as she notices Hana swallow a telltale nervous lump in her throat. For the first time since they have gotten here, Kiara notices that Hana's other hand is fisted around something. Something that could very likely be the same coins they just saw in the fountain.
She takes that hand gently in hers, knowing now how nervous Hana must feel; knowing that if they complete the ancient lover's ritual that she so hoped to do today, there will be no going back. She uncoils Hana's fisted hand, finger by quivering finger, watching her face as her breathing quickens. She smiles again - a smile more aimed at reassurance than amusement.
"Are we going to do what I think we're going to do today, ma moité?"
For several seconds, Hana doesn't respond. The three coins in her hand (Heavy. Ornate. Engraved with apples. Ancient) are proof enough. The answer, when it finally comes - almost like it is torn out of her throat for fear that Kiara's feelings may not match her own - is barely audible.
"Only if this is what you want too."
Gold. Silver. Copper. Tossed in one after the other in an ancient lover's ritual - one that Kiara knows only because she'd learned about it from her mother, who'd had friends in Bethulia where this ritual was most popular. Maman and Baba themselves had done it on a trip there when she was a teenager, still squirming over her parents' ability to still act like swoony romantics in their (and this would be said well out of their earshot) "fucking forties!".
Wiser now, Kiara feels the same anticipatory tingles that her parents must have felt back then.
This ritual wasn't for the faint of heart in ancient days. You did it only when you were certain. When you looked at your lover and knew that a life without them wasn't a life worth living.
Well, Kiara muses as she watches a hundred emotions flit in a second over Hana's face, I think I've known that long enough. I've known ever since I saw you fight your father in Shanghai, even when you knew it would cost you everything. Since that one moment, I've been yours.
Planting a tender kiss on the corner of Hana's mouth, she takes the coins. "Ready when you are," she whispers softly.
Hana swallows again, her eyes glistening and moist and relieved all at once. In a silk pouch that dangles from her wrist, she fishes for three coins identical to the ones on Kiara's palm. She breathes deep once, twice, three times.
Kiara links their free hands, grips them tight as they turn their backs to the fountain. Hana looks up, a question in her eyes.
"For friendship!" Kiara says, tossing the copper coin into the fountain. Faint memories of something that almost feels like another lifetime glimmer and fade in her memory. Applewood, sipping water, giggling over their favourite fruits and flowers. The Beaumont Bash. Watching from the sidelines as Hana did the verbel equivalent of ripping out Olivia Nevrakis' spine at the Coronation Ball.
Hana takes out the silver coin, and waits for Kiara to holds up hers'. "For love?"
Engagement tour. Fearing Hana would hate her in Fydelia, but never understanding why that should suddenly matter. Standing with her against a bridge in Paris, each mourning their lost loves.
Finally learning what love really was, when she opened her eyes and truly saw Hana for the very first time.
Kiara nods, touching her forehead to Hana's. "Par amour." Their coins splash in unison in the water.
Her girlfriend lets out a watery giggle as she takes out the final coin, glittering and golden on her palm. Her voice breaks a little as she tosses it behind her. "For...bel- belonging".
Kiara's own sigh releases in a shudder as she lets the final pledge sink in.
There were very few places in the world that truly felt like home to Hana. Not the place where she was born, not the barony that could have been her legacy. It took her months to even find comfort or security in her future in Cordonia - much less belonging.
Without a moment's thought, and without releasing the golden coin in her hand, she cups Hana's face and kisses her. Hana shudders and buries her hands in Kiara's hair, her lips trembling against the unspoken promises in her lover's.
"For belonging," Kiara says it like it is a vow. "And I don't care how long it takes - I give my word right now. I'll never let you feel like you have lost your home. Ever." Another kiss - this time on Hana's temple. "I hope you will always find one. In me."
Hana's smile is warm and dreamlike, her eyes closed as if to savour this moment, her fingers playing with Kiara's curls. She barely notices the sound of Kiara's gold coin landing in the fountain. "I love you, Kiki."
Kiara chuckles at her teasing use of the nickname, brushing Hana's nose with her own. "Together forever?"
Their hands, now free, close around each other. "Together forever."
It's quiet now, except for the sound of collard doves, the rustle of leaves and branches in a light breeze, and their breathing. The air smells of wildflowers, citrus and a subtle floral scent that Kiara knows to be the perfume Hana has been using for months. Orange Blossom. She grins as she remembers. It's a scent Hana has often loved to wear, just for her.
Hana's thumb feathers lightly over the ring finger on Kiara's left hand, almost as if to commit the bare space on it to her memory. Kiara doesn't miss that gaze - bright-eyed and soaked in longing - and how it mirrors a need she has felt ever since they landed at the Capitol last week.
Kiara swallows. She had wanted to take things slow, she really did. Woo her, bathe her in every luxury possible, make this trip even more unforgettable than Hana could ever imagine, and then spring this surprise on her - like a kirsch-soaked cherry topping on an already very tempting Black Forest Cake.
But...but that gaze of Hana's has always been Kiara's undoing.
Simply, she says, "come with me."
Puzzled, Hana looks up. "Where?"
"To Lake Sôse," Kiara whispers, wasting not one more moment and grabbing her hand. Hana lets out a nervous, slightly incredulous laugh as she allows herself to be pulled along.
Kiara isn't sure why she's suddenly rushing this. When she thinks of the elaborate plans she'd been constructing all week - chocolate-dipped strawberries and champagne at one of the Capital's premier restaurants, flowers everywhere, a proposal at the hedge maze with a picture together by the swing to commemorate the occasion - she wants to laugh. She isn't even sure why Lake Sôse was the first place she'd thought of just now.
She takes a deep breath, and grounds herself. Uncommonly impulsive though it may be, her decision has been made. There is even a part of her that seems to prefer it to happen this way!Kiara has never been one for last minute changes of plan...but ever since she fell in love with Hana, she's learned to expect - and enjoy - the unexpected.
It's only when she sees the shine in Hana's eyes that she realises why her mind took the turn it did.
Lake Sôse. The one place Hana Lee has always chosen for solace and comfort. The one place in the Capitol where she felt the most at home. It had been here, Hana told Kiara once, that King Liam had told her his plans to appoint her Duchess of Krysanthe. It was here, hours later, that she'd shared that momentous news with her best friend Esther; where Esther - herself aglow with love and a newfound purpose - hugged Hana and told her that the world would now be Hana's oyster.
She'd brought Kiara to this lake for the first time the day after King Liam and Queen Esther's wedding, following a night when the queen herself had been kidnapped, and Hana had joined the king's entourage to rescue her.
A night that Kiara - in constant fear of losing her forever - had recklessly kissed Hana. In public. In front of the entire court. Braving gazes of teasing approval from Kiara's parents, and near-murderous glares from Hana's. The night everyone outside of Hana's friend circle finally realized the two were a couple.
Kiara remembers the day after that like it was yesterday. Something must have changed fundamentally in Hana that night, because the fear seemed to have gone, and with it the compulsive need for hiding and subterfuge and constantly looking over her shoulder. It was as if Hana had faced what she'd thought was the worst thing that could happen to her, and realized she really was strong enough to face that fear.
You're my safe place among people, Hana told her that morning, her fingers lacing through Kiara's. The one I feel most at home with. I want to bring my safe space..to the place in Cordonia I've always felt safest in.
It is afternoon, and the yellow crocuses behind them exude a warm, buttery golden glow in the sunlight. Hana lets out a breathless, incredulous laugh. "You seem like a woman in a very huge rush today, Lady Thorne."
Kiara's own laughter in response is high-pitched and halting. She tries to hide the moistness of her palms as she makes a blind grab for the small velvet box in her purse. "Believe me, this wasn't the way I'd planned this to go at all."
Intrigued, Hana's eyes follow Kiara's hands, and her eyes widen as she recognises the familiar deep blue velvet, the embossed silver lettering on top. Argyros and Sons.
"Is that --"
"Yes," Kiara says, clearing her throat, "I'd been planning this. All week. It was going to be romantic, elaborate, I was going to sweep you off your feet. Just like I'd planned to ask you out seven months ago."
Hana lets out a watery giggle. We all know how that turned out, don't we, qīn'ài de? Kiara can almost hear her saying.
But the humour stops almost immediately when she looks at the box again, and suddenly Hana seems too still, too shocked...too far off from how Kiara hoped she would react.
Kiara lets out a deep breath, then lets the words gush out of her. She's too scared to stop, too terrified to think - the fear that she may be doing too much too soon is so overwhelming that she knows if she stops she won't be able to bring herself to do this for a long, long time to come. The humiliation would be too strong.
"I'm not one for impulse. I never have been. I've never felt comfortable with anything if I didn't have a plan for it first."
Kiara gives herself a moment to half-smile at the irony of it all. Approaching Hana Lee with a smile and a bottle of water, after that first eventful bite of a Cordonian Ruby was definitely an impulse. So were half the things she had done with Hana since. So will many, many, many of the things they may wind up doing together, if (if!) this leap of faith works in her favour.
She looks up at Hana to see if she's laughing at the memory too. She isn't. In fact, Kiara isn't even sure Hana's reacting yet to what she's saying. Perfectly still, her eyes never moving from the box, so wide that they would go bloodshot if they were widened any further. Kiara swallows, and finds that her throat feels suddenly, inexplicably sore.
"I could never tell what it was about you that changed all that. I still don't. All I know is that...around you, Hana, I feel so much more brave. To let go of the need to plan and organize. To not be too afraid of what will follow - whether it goes in my favour or not. I find myself not just willing, but eager, to trust my gut."
Kiara's eyes search every inch of Hana's face as she opens the box, revealing the ring inside. It's a gorgeous piece, all platinum and sparkling diamonds. The smaller stones form a cluster around a massive one, leading the viewer to believe they are seeing a glittering snowflake, fallen fresh from the heavens.
Kiara had known the minute she saw the ring that it was the one. That it would remind them of the first time they confessed their love. Of their very first date, of the first time they shared Hana's cup of homemade hot chocolate. Of why the two of them will always love winters.
Hana's fingers move, trembling, towards her mouth, her face suddenly flushed. She remembers it too.
"Hana Lee," A frisson of fear slithers down Kiara's spine. "Will you marry me?"
When Hana finally opens her mouth, several seconds later, Kiara has to strain to hear her voice.
"I - I -" her eyes dart away from Kiara as if she's just remembered something important - her beautiful bronzed skin suddenly a little drained of colour. The next few words, she says in a "I.... I'll be back. Give me five minutes? I...just remembered something."
She leaves without waiting for an answer.
Kiara sinks into the grass, covering her face in her hands.
What have I just done?
--
All the way back from her room in the palace to the lake, the pouch hanging from her wrist feeling only a slight bit heavier, Hana cannot stop mentally kicking herself.
"You fool! You imbecile! Bèn dàn!!" Hana curses herself as she speeds up her sprint into a run, "What happened to your tongue? What kind of reaction was that?? What will Kiara think?"
Her mind now sprints miles ahead of her feet, racing in panicked ferocity over the possibilities.
With any luck, Kiara could still be waiting - puzzled and perhaps a little worried. Or she could be actively panicking, the way she does (on very rare occasions) when a plan goes terribly wrong.
Or...or...
Hana holds the silk pouch from her wrist in a deathlike grip as she speeds up towards Lake Sôse. Or.
The thought of that lovely, open space completely devoid of Kiara, of that beguiling combination of rose and jasmine emanating from her favourite Dior J'adore perfume, makes Hana's stomach drop to her feet.
It isn't until she sees that that heartbreakingly familiar figure of Kiara's, hunched over the grass, that Hana allows herself to breathe.
Kiara is there. Shoulders bent, head buried in her hands, almost stumbling as she tries to get up when she sees Hana.
Morose. Defeated. But still there.
Without another thought, Hana rushes into Kiara's arms, almost knocking her off her feet.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," Hana whispers against her hair. "I wasn't trying to run away. I really had to get something. For you."
Kiara pulls back to look into her eyes, and when she does Hana's heart twists at the sight of unshed tears. "I thought I'd scared you off."
Hana's own laughter quavers, pitched high in disbelief. "I've just pledged myself to you this afternoon, body and soul, at the palace fountain. This -" she lifts Kiara's left hand to her chest, her thumb caressing the empty space on her beloved's ring finger " - just makes it so much more real."
Kiara's arms wrap around her, pulling Hana flush to her. Hana can feel Kiara shake as she giggles in response. "...you mean to say that I'd have saved myself so much stress if I'd just remembered those coins."
"Yes, qīn'ài de, a thousand times yes." She cups Kiara's face, pressing their foreheads together. "Place that ring where it belongs, Kiki. I can't wait to see it on my finger."
Hana holds her tight until Kiara's breathing becomes slower, calmer. She raises her newly-adorned hand for Kiara to see - marvelling at how the ring really mimics the glow of a snow crystal in the winter sun.
When they part, shyly, reluctantly, Hana begins to fiddle with the silk pouch.
"Here's what I'd gone to bring."
Kiara's eyes brighten at the sight of the box in her hand; a wave of warmth floods through Hana in anticipation of her response. Kiara gasps the minute she opens the box, revealing a delicate, intricately carved rose gold ring, flanked by small diamonds on all four corners, cradling a bigger one at the center.
"Rose gold," Kiara murmurs in wonder.
"Yes," Hana brushes her fingers over Kiara's knuckles. She'd told her once, long ago, how revered that metal was in her home province Bethulia. How Bethulian jewellers and goldsmiths and young women swore by the rosy hue it exuded. How it was a perfect amalgamation of three precious metals - all highly valued in the province. How tied it was to their folktales and bridal rituals.
"Copper..silver...gold." Kiara's tears glitter like diamonds before she lets them fall. "For friendship. For love. For belonging."
Hana smiles, her hand still stroking Kiara's cheek. "You remembered."
Kiara rolls her still-moist eyes, trying hard not to sniff - it would take out all the humour in this situation. "It's hard to forget a ritual we'd performed just ten minutes ago, ma moité."
"I'd planned to give you this ring a week from now," Hana says, shaking her head at her own impulsiveness as the ring she'd chosen on a fanciful whim so long ago, now finds its home. "I've been holding onto it for far too long."
Kiara caresses the stone on her own finger lovingly, admiring the way the rose gold glows on her skin. When she speaks, her voice is breathless in anticipation. "How long?"
For several minutes, Hana's only response is to pull Kiara back in her arms again. Her hand slides slowly, almost with a tinge of regret, down the dip of Kiara's waist on her left side. The wound that had once served as a constant, searing reminder of so much (of her vulnerability, of her inability to run from pain, of what she'd once considered her failures), has healed in more ways than one - only a faded scar that Hana never fails to kiss, now remains.
"For seven months," Hana's voice shakes at the memory, "Since the night after Homecoming Ball."
With a choked sob, Kiara enfolds Hana into her arms, almost as if she'd want to absorb her into every cell of her body. Fervently, reverently, she presses her lips all over Hana's face - her eyelids, her cheeks, the bridge of her nose, all the little-known, barely-noticed parts of her. It takes her a while - perhaps too long, in Hana's opinion - for Kiara's lips to meet hers, but she welcomes the sweet torture of waiting.
"Mon cœur," Kiara says between kisses, "ma raison de vivre."
When they part, the two women keep each other's hands interlinked, one left hand over the other. Neither of them will remember how long they stay at the lake; only that they never want this joy, this warm afterglow of seeing their dreams come true...to end.
The empty spaces on their ring fingers, over which they'd each stolen such secret, hungry glances today, now bear the mark of their lovers. Now bear the most tangible signs of their love, their memories, their promises, their commitment.
Together forever.

favorite kpop group tag~ thank you @binniesbang!
who is your favorite kpop group?
stray kids, if that was any surprise
which member sparked your interest first?
hyunjin! i've almost always been pulled in by the dancer (lee know i know but) specifically the style of dance hyunjin excels in. the isolation is so satisfying and cool. for some reason choreo always gets a song stuck in my head??
But also!! I had heard they produced their own music and that really got me interested in kpop again
who was your first bias?
chris bang 🤍 went from zero to ult within no more than two days tbh…
what makes them your current bias?
oh god. um. i'll put this in the least embarrassing way possible. (this is a kpop tumblr blog I should probably get over it)
it was a particularly bad year. i stumbled upon their silly videos (thank you stay for the edits<3) and they made me laugh. then i started seeing clips of chans room and him interacting with the boys and just like... he's so wonderful. he's generous and kind and loving and thoughtful. just a shy lil guy who also happens to be a flirt and a fucking dork and it's cute man idk shut upp
who is your bias wrecker?
i was certain i'd never have one, i truly adore each of those boys so so much.
i was however proven wrong after a very sweet, silly compilation of binnie being ridiculous. followed by a face cam of his sclass performance in the supreme jersey?? and the curls?? he has such amazing stage presence and he's a great dancer. but he kept going from his cute sweet binnie expressions looking like he was just so into it and having fun, to the "dark rapper" eyes and commanding stage presence. and like, wow. 🖤 i am a sucker for that kind of duality.
which members are you currently obsessing over that aren't your bias/wrecker?
in another reality han is my wrecker. that boy is the epitome of what i used to look for in guys: babygirl. lol. well, and insanely talented and funny and everything. I adore him
after befriending a couple seungmin stans, i started looking for pics and clips to send them and found myself so incredibly impressed with him and touched by some of the things he's said and done. plus he’s a funny little shit.
hwang hyunjin is such a sweet boy. since we got producer jinnie on the last album i have been looking back and just so impressed with his growth 🤍
when did you first discover the group?
(Upon editing I realize I read this as ‘how’ but oh well)
okokok so
i was a kpop fan 2014-2017 and went all in. kcon and concerts the whole thing
but then i was just on my usual 6 hour yt shorts binge as i tried to fall asleep and saw skz reacting to the "your eyes" mv, specifically felix's part, obviously. i watched it like 12 times just cry laughing at han screaming, hyunjin trying to escape, channie hiding behind his hands and squealing. it was just so funny to see a group kind of clowning their own shit? i thought they were hilarious.
then i saw julien (solomita) had reacted to 'topline' and i was soooo into it. immediately went to watch some mvs and decided cool i'll be a totally normal casual fan of this group’s music….. :)
THEN a lovely lady i'd followed on my 10 year old tumblr account posted about skz. i messaged her that I’d finally decided to check them out and she was kind enough to answer questions and entertain my onslaught of messages as I screamed about how much I love these boys. and she still does everyday so. thank you hana 🌸
have you ever been to one of their concerts?
not yet~
what are some of your favorite songs by them?
THIS SECTION TOOK ME WAY TOO LONG. disclaimer: I absolutely could not include non ot8 this would’ve been 30 songs (I’m probably going to cheat)
Hall of fame. bitch ever since that live stage (which was the first time I’d heard it) I’ve listened to the sclass album 3 times a week no joke, goddamn it’s so good. so just know, i pulled almost every song from that album off this list when i made cuts
levanter. a hard pill to swallow mid relationship struggles and holds a lot of meaning for me.
secret secret. i can't get over how professional this song sounds and how it was just a few years in?
leave. where i got my username~ like I said, relationship stuff. You have not yet really bloomed When the new season comes I hope the warmth will make you bloom Into a flower that never dies
sclass. *bling bling* HIPHOPSTEP. such a fucking chaotic mess of a jam.
megaverse. the breakdown? MEGAPHONE. Han, bitch? We make the rules nobody can hold me yeaaahhh. Your body shakes - STRAY KIDS EVERYWHERE ALL AROUND THE WORLD. Sorry, flawless.
gods menu. ate, bitch. chan was something the fuck else
domino. neeed I say more
social path is bomb
grow up. read lyrics for the first time just now ow
eternity. told u I’d cheat.
love poem. big cheat my list worth it
I am going to be so mad when I realize I missed a song I listen to 7 times a day but been doin this for 2 hours so I’m calling it. Also forgive me I’m still working through the discography (backwards) and haven’t listened to the full first couple albums.
the adhd is allowing no further focus or thought so i will be tagging the same friends as my last tag post no pressure <3
@channieblossoms @skzms @roseykat @thefantasyden @seungsungracha @astraysis @channieswife

Unexpected Chapter 12: The Beginning
Series: Unexpected
Fandom: The Royal Romance
Pairings: Maxwell x Riley x Liam x Hana
Rating: MA
Warnings: None for this chapter
Word Count: 2,351
A/N: This is it, the final chapter. But there will likely be at least one follow-up because there's still so much to explore in this universe. I might even do a spin-off series at some point. We'll see. If anyone has requests/questions for this series, please send them.
My other stuff: Master List.
Tumblr media
“I choose….. Lady Hana Lee!”
Surprised murmurs broke out through the crowd, followed swiftly by applause.
Riley watched happily from the audience as her girlfriend climbed the stage to get engaged to the new king. She ignored the whispers and sidelong glances of the rest of the court.
Everyone had expected it to be her. In the last week, she and Liam had done very little to hide their relationship. They had been spotted coming out of the hedge maze hand in hand earlier that very night, leaves in their hair, faces flushed.
She smiled as she slid her arm through Max’s. Her gaze darted around the ballroom until she found Bertrand. He looked like he’d been slapped as he stood with his glass of champagne, mouth hanging open, eyes wide, and face pale. She felt a ping of sharp satisfaction as she watched his face slowly go from white to red with indignation.
“Come.” She tugged on Max’s arm. “Let’s go congratulate the happy couple.”
When it was their turn in the receiving line, Riley hugged the new king and queen tightly, happily, kissing each one quickly on the lips, and delighting in the shocked gasps from onlookers.
Liam entwined his hand with Hana’s as they watched her walk away and whispered to his new partner in crime, “What are we going to do with her, my queen?”
Hana shivered slightly. “Unspeakable things, I hope.”
Hana had been heartbroken when Riley first told her about her relationship with Liam and Max. But when the object of her affection had proposed a unique solution that positioned her as queen and gave her full access to exploring a relationship with both the woman she loved and the man at her side, a man she liked, respected, and was attracted to, she had for once in her life chosen the path of the unknown, of adventure, of jumping off the cliff with blind faith that things would work out. She had jumped, and it was exhilarating. The public assumed her flushed face and sparkling eyes were because of Liam. Let them. That was according to plan.
Riley’s appointment as Duchess of Valtoria would be announced within the week.
Liam had been clear with all involved that he would not hide his relationship with Riley. Royal marriages were political and there was no reason to pretend otherwise. He had promised Hana that he would treat her with dignity and respect. He would not publicize their agreement, but he also refused to treat Riley as a dirty secret. They would be reasonably discreet, but if they were photographed together, there would be no denials. A simple no comment would be the only response.
The engagement tour was scheduled, the wedding day was chosen, and the honeymoon would be at an undisclosed location due to security concerns.
The undisclosed location would be Valtoria. The press would be sent on a wild goose chase to Aruba.
A full investigation had been opened into the sabotage scheme and Bertrand’s name had been removed from consideration for the vacant council seat.
Riley and Max made their way through the crowd, only to be intercepted by Bertrand. He was livid. “What just happened?”
Riley tightened her grip on Max’s arms as she smiled serenely. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, two days ago your things were moved from Ramsford and your room at the palace into the suite next to Liam’s! What changed since then?”
“Nothing.” She grabbed a champagne flute from a passing server.
“Then why aren’t you engaged?”
“Oh, I am.” Her smile turned malicious as she held her left hand up for inspection. An enormous pear-cut diamond surrounded by a cluster of smaller diamonds sparkled on her ring finger. “I’m going to be your sister-in-law. You should congratulate us.”
Bertrand’s face darkened. “I warned you what would happen if your little dalliance with my brother ruined our chances at the crown. I will disinherit him, and I will personally ensure that your visitor’s visa is revoked!”
“You’ll do no such thing.”
Bertrand spun toward the voice. “Your Majesty! I was just—”
“I know what you were doing.” Liam’s face betrayed no hint of emotion as he reached his hand out toward Riley. She took it and stepped up to his side. “And while I can’t stop you from disinheriting your brother, I can promise you that Duchess Riley’s citizenship has been fast-tracked and cannot be revoked by anyone other than myself.”
Bertrand blanched. “Duchess Riley?”
“Oh, I meant to tell you!” Riley said with exaggerated sweetness. “Liam gave me Valtoria. So once Max and I are married, he’ll be a duke like you! He doesn’t need your money anymore and neither do I. Hm. Maybe I’ll talk to Liam about giving him that council seat you wanted.”
Bertrand paled even more as he tracked Liam’s face for some sign she was lying and found none.
Without removing his eyes from Bertrand, Liam handed the woman at his side back to Max. “Why don’t you take your fiancée to dance? I’ll be there shortly to cut in.”
Riley blew a kiss to Bertrand as she followed Max to the dance floor. “Ta!”
Liam fixed Bertrand with a steely glare. “I understand you’re disappointed that House Beaumont’s sponsee wasn’t chosen as queen, but the same can be said of every other noble house here tonight. Regardless of official titles, the duchess remains very dear to me. Slights to her will not be tolerated. Any offense against her is an offense against the crown as far as I am concerned. I hope that clarifies things for you.”
“I understand Your Majesty. I apologize. I mean no offense.”
Liam gave him a curt nod before striding out onto the dance floor.
“Are you okay?” Riley asked Max as she watched Liam approach.
“I will be. I just…need a word with my brother.”
“Good luck.”
Riley went from her fiancée’s arms to her lover. She grinned up at him. “Aren’t you worried that dancing with another woman thirty minutes after getting engaged will cause a scandal?”
He returned her grin. “Let it.”
“Oh, reckless! Are you a bad boy now?”
“Hardly!” He laughed. “You know there’s no way in hell I can give Max a council seat with his very questionable background, right?”
“Good Lord, no!” She tilted her head back and joined his laughter. “He would be terrible at it! I was just fucking with Bert.”
Liam pulled her closer to him with a chuckle. “I’ll bet he loves it when you call him that.”
“Why do you think I do it?”
While Liam twirled Riley around the dance floor, Max approached his brother with a storm raging in his eyes. “I can’t believe you want to disinherit me.”
“Oh, what difference does it make?” Bertrand scowled at him. “Valtoria is one of the wealthiest duchies in the country. You’ll be fine.”
“It’s not about the money!” Max cried in distress. “Don’t you want to be my brother anymore? Don’t you love me?”
“You think I don’t love you?” Bertrand spluttered. “Why else do you think I’ve bailed you out of your messes time after time?”
“I don’t know. To protect the family name, I assume.”
“That’s what you think of me?”
Max gave him a baleful look. “You knew Riley liked me and you didn’t tell me. You yell at me all the time. You care more about your reputation than my happiness.”
Bertrand straightened his suit jacket with a sharp tug. “One of us has to consider our reputation. Heaven knows it’s not you.”
Max scuffed the toe of his shoe on the ballroom floor as he considered that. “You know what? You’re right. I’ve done a lot of stupid shit in the past, and you’ve always come along and cleaned up behind me.”
“What are you getting at?” Bertrand sneered.
Max’s trademark devil-may-care smile replaced the gloomy expression he’d started with. He clapped his brother on the back. “You’ve always been there for me before. I forgive you for trying to keep me and Riley apart.”
Bertrand gaped at him. “You forgive me?!”
“Yeah. I forgive you. All’s well that ends well, right?”
After all, he had ended up with the girl. He, Maxwell Beaumont, had gotten the girl. And not just any girl. The girl. The most perfect woman he’d ever met.
His competition had been a literal prince and somehow, inexplicably, that was his ring on her finger. He didn’t pretend to understand how it had all happened. He had just paid for the ring like she told him to.
Bertrand shook his head as his eyes tracked from Riley and Liam canoodling on the dance floor, back to the sappy grin on Maxwell’s face. “Are you stupid? You’re really going to marry her and just look the other way while she continues to fuck the king?”
Much to Bertrand’s astonishment, Max’s smile got even bigger. “Oh, I’m hoping to watch. Maybe even join.”
He’d do whatever, and whoever, she instructed him to. Her, Hana, Liam. He just wanted to be included.
“I…. that…. You know what? The two of you degenerates deserve each other!”
Max, who was also watching Liam and Riley on the dance floor, heaved a dreamy sigh. “I know. Thank you.”
Bertrand went to find his driver. Max was Riley’s problem now.
Riley stayed occupied most of the night between Liam, Max, and Hana, but the moment she was alone at the refreshment table, Madeleine swooped in on her. “How does it feel to be tossed over for your little bestie?”
Riley turned slowly to take in the other woman’s haughty expression. She repaid the jab with a shrug. “No one was tossed over, Mads. And if you’re asking how I feel about Hana being queen, the answer is great! She’ll be good at it. She’s smart, charming, and diplomatic.”
The blonde’s brows drew together in confusion. “It doesn’t bother you that he’s marrying someone else?”
“No.”
“No?”
Riley shook her head emphatically. “I never cared about being queen, Madeleine. Unlike you, my interest in Liam is personal, not political.”
“Yes. But he just got engaged to another woman!” Madeleine was becoming increasingly annoyed at her failure to get a rise out of the strumpet who had been the bane of her existence for the last three months.
Riley followed Madeleine’s eyes to where Liam was chatting with his parents, his arm wrapped around Hana. Her face brightened as she stepped closer to Madeleine and lowered her voice. “And what a woman she is, right?”
Madeleine blinked. “What?”
“Come on,” Riley smirked. “I’ve seen how you look at her.”
Madeleine’s face mottled as red blotches marred the milky whiteness of her complexion. “I have no idea what you’re babbling about.”
“Sure you don’t.” Riley stepped away with a smile. Turning her back, she plucked a strawberry from a serving platter. “You know, you sycophants all treat the crown like some sort of prize.”
“What else would it be?”
Riley lifted the fruit to her lips as she turned back to face the countess. “The crown, and all its obligations, have been nothing but an anchor around Liam’s neck. He’d be happier without it.”
“You’re so naïve.”
Riley slowly finished chewing as she eyed Madeleine up and down with a smirk. “Right. I’m the naïve one.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
With a sparkle in her eye, Riley leaned in close and purred, “It means that I got every damn thing that I wanted and none of the crap that I didn’t. I started the summer as a waitress. I finished it with a duchy, my own money, Liam, Hana, and Max. What did you get, again?”
“I…”
“Exactly.” Riley turned and walked away while Madeleine was still trying to form a coherent response.
She made it four steps before Max was next to her. Together, they found Liam and Hana as the festivities wound down and the guests began to trail out of the ballroom.
Liam turned to the other three. “Shall we retire to the royal wing?”
“And do what?” Hana felt both apprehension and excitement punch her in the stomach.
“Not that,” Liam assured her. Then, with a wicked grin, “Unless you want to.”
Hana’s eyes widened and her breath hitched a little. “I…”
Liam grasped her hand and gave it a little squeeze. “We have our entire lives to get comfortable with each other. We can go at whatever pace you’re comfortable with.”
“Just for the record,” Max interrupted, “I am comfortable with whatever pace you like, Your Majesty.”
Liam gave him a questioning look.
Max flushed. “I know about you and Carson. I’m not wrong that you like boys too, am I?”
Curiosity and interest flickered through Liam’s eyes at the offer. With a quick glance at Riley, he told Max, “We’ll take that slow as well.”
If he had to marry someone other than Riley, he couldn’t have done better than Hana. The burgeoning relationship between the two women circumvented all the awkwardness and anxiety Riley had understandably had about his marriage to another woman. And Hana would make a good queen. He was confident of that.
Max’s offer was intriguing, and the idea of sex with Hana wasn’t exactly off-putting. But Riley was the one who had his heart. With four people in the mix, there were a lot of moving parts and he wanted to proceed at a pace that would ensure plenty of time for everyone to process things as they went and minimize fallout from any potential landmines they hadn’t foreseen.
With a lot of intentional relationship-building and a little luck, they could make this unconventional arrangement work. Not just work but thrive. He was sure of it.
As the four of them made their way toward the royal wing, Max grasped Riley’s hand. Riley placed her other hand in Liam’s, and he, in turn, took Hana’s. He gave his new queen a reassuring smile then turned his gaze to Riley and Max as he told them all, “This is only the beginning, loves.”

HLAW Day 2: Flowers
Tumblr media
A Bouquet for an Angel
Pairing: Hana Lee x nonbinary OC (Raelyn)
TRR book 2
Hana led the twins into the conservatory and were hit with a wave of perfume from hundreds of flowers.
"Did you know that in Victorian society, people communicated with flowers? Every flower has a meaning, so when a lord gave a lady a bouquet, it was as if he were writing her a poem." Hana says running her hands along a petal of a fern.
"That sounds romantic." Riley says grinning and elbowing Raelyn who elbows her back sharply before Hana turns around.
"It wasn't always about romance. Flowers can symbolize friendship, scorn, rivalry and just about anything. We should make a bouquet for the Italian statesman for tomorrow!" Hana says
"Good idea! What about those?" Riley points towards a stem drooping from the weight of 2 dozen small, blue flowers.
"Bluebells are for humility. It could be used as a subtle insult to the receiver." Hana replies. Raelyn snorts, Riley rolls her eyes.
"Okay smarty pants, you pick one." Riley says to Raelyn.
"White roses should be a good one right?" Raelyn says bending to inhale the fragrance of a delicate white rose.
"White roses are known for their unity and purity." -Hana-
"Unity could work!" Riley says, Raelyn plucks a few white roses.
"Oh these are my favorites! Hydrangeas are for heartfelt gratitude." Hana says pointing to some dusty blue-violet hemisphere of petals.
"Gratitude for the hospitality, and unity for Italy and Cordonia? That sounds pretty good, right?" Riley asks. Hana nods her approval and combines the hydrangeas to the bouquet.
"Almost..." Hana trails off to add some greens to the bouquet before offering it to Riley.
"It's beautiful!" Riley says
"And is sure to impress the statesman. Just be sure to leave them in water overnight." Hana says. Riley takes the flowers and grins at the way Hana's eyes keep wandering to Raelyn.
"Oh." Riley fakes a yawn. "I'm sorry, Hana, but I think I'm going to duck out to take a nap, but Raelyn wouldn't mind staying with you to see that night blooming flower, right, Rae?" Riley says to Raelyn who nearly nods their head off.
"I'd love to!" Raelyn says. When Riley has her back turned towards Hana, she wiggles her eyebrows at her twin, who gives her a warning look. Chuckling, Riley takes her leave and Raelyn sidles up to Hana's side.
"So I was hoping you'd help me with a bouquet too, Hana."
"Oh, of course! What message would you like to send with the bouquet?" Hana says smiling warmly at Raelyn.
"Well, it's a bouquet for someone very special to me." Raelyn says staring intensely into Hana's eyes, making Hana blush and bite her lip.
"Is there a flower that means you take my breath away? Perhaps a flower that says you're the most beautiful woman in the world and you make my heart flutter in my chest every time you smile at me?"At Raelyn's words, Hana looks down smiling but Raelyn gently lifts her chin to look at them.
"A flower that means I want to spend the rest of my life, in whatever capacity you'll have of me, making you smile?" Raelyn says causing Hana to gasp at the inclination of Raelyn's words.
"Rae..." Hana trails off before throwing her arms around Raelyn's shoulders and kissing them fiercely.
Time passes in a haze of warm kisses that slowed down from a fierce storm to a gentle caress. When the 2 pulls back to look at the bud of the night blooming flower, they watched the petals unfurl and nearly shimmer in the moonlight.
"Whoa." Raelyn says stunned.
"It's beautiful!" Hana exclaims.
"Not as beautiful as you, Hana."
"Oh Raelyn." Hana says softly.
"I promise, Hana. I'm going to help my sister clear her name, and you and I are going to figure this thing out between us." Raelyn says determined.
A bright smiles creeps onto Hana's face before she replies, "I'd like that very much, my darling."

The Fairytale Ball
Book: The Royal Heir Pairing: Liam Rys x MC (Jade) Characters: Liam Rys, MC (Jade), royal heir (Elise), Maxwell Beaumont, Hana Lee Rating: T Word count: 3415 Reading time: ~13min Summary: The Queen's Ball is the event of the year for the young generations. But Princess Elise isn't as happy everyone hoped she would be on her debut. Based on the prompt: @choicesnovchallenge: National Princess Day
Author’s notes:
Jade Bourbon-Rys, Elise Bourbon-Rys, Charlotte Amaranth, Zain and Gael Maldonado are creations of this author. The other characters belong to Pixelberry Studios;
This oneshot is part of Liam and Jade's universe, but I'm sure you'll have no problem reading it if you never read anything from my TRR series.
Tumblr media
"One, two, three. One, two, three. One, two, three," Hana counted as she passed by, watching every young couple dancing in the ballroom.
"Relax your shoulders, Toshio." Maxwell instructed, gently tapping a young boy's shoulder.
"That's beautiful, Marnie!" Hana praised another girl.
In the corner of the ballroom, Elise counted the steps as she tried to follow her partner's steps. Her mother and godmother always said Cordonian Waltz wasn't that hard. She just had to let her partner lead. Unfortunately, the dance partner Queen Mother Regina chose for her wasn't as good advertised. At least, not in her opinion.
"Ow!" The boy complained, wincing in pain.
"Sorry, Zain..." She said with a weak and apologetic smile.
"Is everything okay?" Hana asked, placing a hand on Elise's shoulder.
Elise grimaced. She knew her godmother wouldn't scold her as her grandmother probably would. But she still didn't wish to disappoint.
"It's alright, ma'am," Zain forced a smile as he continued to dance.
How could he go on, given how hard she stepped on his foot? It was a mystery to her.
The Queen's Ball was an annual ball/cotillion hosted by Queen Jade of Cordonia during Elise’s month of birthday to raise funds for the orphanages and community centers of the kingdom. It was a tradition in which all noble women she knew were involved and her mother was adamant about the princess joining the young couples dance this year. However, she couldn't say she was as excited to join as she hoped to be.
"One, two, three. One, two, three. One, two—"
"OW!" Zain whined.
This time, however, it got a few other couple’s attention. The music stopped.
"Crap... I'm so sorry, Zain..."
"It's okay, Your Highness. I'm fine," the boy murmured.
"Watch out for Princess Klutzy, Zain!" A female voice in the middle of the room mocked. A voice Elise was unfortunately quite familiar with.
Suppressed giggles echoed in the ballroom.
Elise glared at Lady Charlotte, who replied with a smirk.
"That's enough." Maxwell called out, a rare scowl adorning her godfather's face. "Back to your places, everyone!"
"Pay close attention to your partner, ladies. And don't forget your posture," Hana said, roughly straightening Charlotte's head.
Elise pressed her lips together to hide a smile when Zain winced again.
"Are you sure you're okay?"
"Yeah... I'm kinda beat from football practice."
The princess frowned watching the boy kept dancing, trying to disguise he was limping slightly.
"It's okay if you admit I hurt your foot. We can take a break."
"I'm fine, Your Highness."
"You don't have to play nice with me. And you don't have to call me Your Highness all the time. I don’t call Lord Zain of Bellmere."
"All right... If you let me lead, we'll do a lot better, you know," Zain suggested.
Elise smiled shyly. "Okay..."
Maybe she was overthinking again and just needed to chill. She had tons of dance classes over the years. Cordonian Waltz wasn't that hard after all.
For the next couple of minutes, things went smoothly between them. The princess even started to enjoy the dance and the company of the young Earl of Bellmere.
"One, two, three. One, two, three. Excellent! Now spin!" Hana instructed.
"Ready?" Zain asked.
"Yeah," Elise nodded.
But as Zain lifted her arm for the princess to spin, a couple bumped into them, pushing them both on the floor.
Laughter rose in the ballroom as Hana and Maxwell rushed to help Elise and Zain.
"Damnit!" Zain complained, massaging his left foot.
"I'm so sorry..."
"Are you two alright?" Hana asked in worry.
"My foot hurts..." Zain winced.
Elise frowned.
"I told you Princess two left feet would hurt you." Charlotte snickered.
Something snapped on Elise as she heard Charlotte's voice again. Standing up, the princess stomped her way to the other girl and jumped over her.
"Elise, no!" Maxwell yelled and darted to the princess, followed by the royal guards.
"You stuck-up bitch!" The princess bellowed as she mounted on the girl, grabbing her hair with both hands.
Before Elise could do any real damage, four guards split the girls while the others sent everybody out.
Tumblr media
A few hours later
Steps and murmurs reverberated through the walls as Elise sobbed in her room. The Royal guard may be discreet, but the servants loved to gossip. By the time she locked herself in her room, the entire kingdom already knew she got into another fight with Charlotte Amaranth again. But having her name on the tabloids and strangers judging her was nothing compared to Queen Jade’s reaction. And the princess certainly didn’t want to face her mother now.
Just then, a gentle knock on her door interrupted her thoughts.
“Go away!” She whined.
Much to her disappointment, the door opened.
“Hey, you can’t tell the King to go away.”
Elise sat up as she recognized the voice. The moment her father sat on the bed, she wrapped her arms around his neck. “Dad!” She croaked.
“It’s okay, my Lil Bunny…” Liam murmured.
“Is it though?”
“I just talked to Lord Zain and his parents. He had already injured his toe during football practice. He just didn’t tell anyone because he didn’t want to be cut out of the team before Junior League started.”
Elise pulled away from the embrace. “But I stepped on his foot over three times!”
“Zain mentioned it, but he still doesn’t blame you. His doctor also said that landing on his feet when he fell most likely was the real cause of the injury.”
“Fine. Now what?"
“As we speak Maxwell and Hana are searching for a new dance partner for you. So now we have another matter to talk about..."
“Ugh…” The princess laid down again, pressing her face on a pillow.
“What happened during the rehearsal?”
“You know exactly what happened," she grumbled.
"I do. But I still want to hear your version of the incident."
Her father had a point. As always.
She then sat up again and began to speak. "I hate Charlotte!"
"Hate is one very strong word."
"It's how I feel about her!"
"Very well. Does it justify you mounting on top of Lady Charlotte to pull her hair and beat her up?" Liam arched an eyebrow.
"She said what happened to Zain was my fault!"
"Elise, you've had spats with her before, but it never came to physical fight. What happened this afternoon that made you cross that line?"
The princess looked down at her hands.
"Is there something you're not telling me?"
"She is a bully, dad."
"I see..." Liam said, not surprised to hear that Madeleine's only child took after her mother.
"I don't care when she says something about me..." Elise fiddled with the hem of her sweater.
"Did she say anything about something else?"
"Charlotte said Aunt Hana needs to grow a backbone. She put a melted candy bar on Sophie's seat to make it look like crap and mocked her in front of the entire school."
Liam's eyes widened in surprise. "That's why Sophie was upset today."
"The only reason I didn't beat that girl up at school was because Ava and Louis stopped me so I wouldn't get suspended."
"I assume what happened this afternoon was the last straw."
"Yeah..."
Liam pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance.
"Are you mad at me?"
"No. I don't approve of what you did. This is absolutely not how we raised you and your siblings, but I understand your reasons."
"How bad is the press talking about it?"
"They're loving it. The rivalry between you two is being strongly associated with the one your mother had with Madeleine during my social season and engagements."
"Do they think Charlotte and I dislike each other because of a guy?!" Elise made a face. "Tabloids are so stupid."
Liam chuckled. "They usually are. Little did they know only Jade was fighting about a guy."
"Oh?"
"That's a story for later."
"Okay... What do we do now?"
"You go back to being my sweet daughter and future heir of the throne while your mother and I talk to the Royal Communications department to handle the press."
"But Charlotte's mom is the head of Royal Communications! Lady Madeleine will make it worse!"
"How so?"
"She doesn't like me."
"Madeleine doesn't like anyone in our family except Regina and Leo. But she's still loyal to the Crown."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Whoa..." Elise mumbled in astonishment. "Okay. If you say so..."
"You still have to apologize to her."
"Dad!"
"I'm not asking you to be friends with Lady Charlotte. Just be polite."
"But she—"
"Do it for Regina's sake. Your mother and I will be present to ensure you'll keep it civil."
Elise folded her arms. "How do you know Charlotte won't be the one to start a fight?"
"I was watching the rehearsal from the security cameras when the fight started. She can't win a fight against Sophie's turtle Pabblo."
Father and daughter exchanged looks and chuckled.
"Dad?"
"Yes?"
“I don’t wanna dance anymore.”
"Pardon?"
"I'm not going to dance."
"Sweetheart, you've been talking about partaking in the Young Couples Dance for years," Liam tried to reason.
"I lost my dance partner, I'm the talk of the kingdom today... Maybe it's for the best." She gave her shoulders.
"You know your mother won't like this, don't you?"
"Can you talk to her?"
"Are you sure?"
She nodded.
"I can try..."
"Thanks," Elise murmured, resting her head on her father's shoulder.
Tumblr media
About an hour later
"She's not quitting!"
"My love..."
"She's not quitting, Liam!" Jade demanded, glaring at her husband from her vanity dresser mirror. "Our daughter is not a quitter!"
"Elise doesn't want to cause a commotion with the press and the guests being in the same room as Charlotte."
"That's it?! Fine! I'll cut mini Madeleine out of the dance." Jade put down her face cream on the nightstand with full force. "There! Problem solved."
"Jade..." Liam called, staring deadpan at his wife.
"What? No one is gonna miss her anyway."
Liam suppressed a chuckle as he sat on the opposite side of the bed. "Regina won't be happy with this..."
"I don't care!"
"Don't you?"
The couple exchanged knowing looks.
Jade rolled her eyes. "Why do you always have to be reasonable?"
"Somebody has to be. Plus, I know you don't want to have animosity with Regina."
"I created this ball for Elise! I'll be damned if I allow Madeleine's daughter or anyone to get in my daughter's way of having her dance!" Jade fumed.
"Did you truly create this ball for her or for yourself?"
"You know precisely why this ball exists." Jade scowled.
Liam looked back at his wife and arched an eyebrow.
"Sure... Maybe I've been daydreaming about Elise's first dance with her high school crush for years. But I created the ball because she wanted to dress and dance like a princess."
"Jade, she is a princess. It's her birthright."
"This is not about monarchy and titles, Liam. Do you remember when we attended Calenvia's Baile de Debutantes? And the Queen's Debutants Ball in the UK? How mesmerized she was by cousin Manuela dancing with her girlfriend?"
"Yes."
"Well, that's the only thing she hasn't experienced yet!"
"A fairytale moment."
"Exactly!"
"She was a five year old fascinated by fairytales. And I doubt her fairytale moment would come given how she barely seemed comfortable around Rashad's son."
"You don't get it, do you?" The queen pursed her lips in annoyance. "She has a Pinterest board with inspirations since she was seven. She booked herself an appointment with Galia Lahav to get an exclusive design for her gown. She may not have a crush on Zain, but they looked good together. We all saw the day she explicitly told Zain what type of flowers he should get for her corsage and his lapel!" Jade then stood up and sat next to her husband. "I'm telling you: Elise wants this. She cannot let go of her childhood dream just because that little project of Regina George pissed off my daughters."
"Hmm..." Liam pondered for a moment. "Fair point. But I guess we both know there's only one person who can convince her to attend," he said, giving his wife a knowing look.
"What if she thinks I'm forcing her to do it?"
"You're fully capable of persuading anyone, my love," he said, kissing the back of her hand.
"Okay..." She heaved a sigh, resting her head on his shoulder.
Liam smiled as he once again realized how much his daughter took after his wife.
Tumblr media
The next day
As the young princess finished her homework, Elise left the library and walked down the hallway, looking out the window. The Queen's
Ball night was near, so the servants began decorating the gardens, adding snowflake-shaped string lights on the walls and on the maze. The Winter Wonderland theme was her idea and she was completely sure it'd look amazing. Too bad it felt like a dream she would have to postpone for a while.
"Elise?"
The princess stopped in her tracks as she heard her mother's voice. They haven't talked since her mother left the palace to take Zain to the hospital. The queen looked furious then. Was she still mad at her?
The princess turned around to look at her. "Yes, ma'am."
"I heard you have a free schedule now. Follow me to the entertainment room."
"The entertainment room?"
"You'll understand why soon."
Oh, man... Was she going to use one of those educational videos just like the ones her parents showed Louis about STIs? Educational videos were part of her father's style of educating. Her mother's approach was a bit more straightforward.
Once they stepped into the room, Elise took a seat in one of the chairs on the back and Jade followed. On the cinema screen, small clips of Elise as a toddler dancing in the ballroom with the queen, watching her parents dance then joining them, clapping as she watched the first young couples and her dance lessons while growing up.
As her eyes welled up, Jade changed seats to be closer to her daughter. "I know why you don't want to join the Young Couples Dance after what happened yesterday. Facing the press after a scandal isn't easy. But I want you to know why I created and have been hosting The Queen's Ball all these years."
"What?" Tears streamed down Elise's face. "But you always said it's an event to celebrate Grandma Eleanor and Grandma Elaine and help kids in need."
"I know. I'll keep mentioning them and their charity work they did because The Royal Communications said it'd be a good excuse to turn a ball into a charity event and attract more donations. But its first name was Fairytale Ball."
"Fairytale ball?"
"Yes." Jade reached for her daughter's hand. "All I wanted was to give you a fairytale moment."
"Mom..." Elise threw her arms around her mother's neck and hugged her tightly. "Aren't you mad?"
"I should be." Jade replied, stroking Elise's hair. "I should scold you and ground you for weeks. But honestly? I wish I had slapped some people's faces during your father's social season and engagement to Madeleine."
"People?" Elise pulled away and stared wide-eyed at her mother. "Who?"
"Literally everyone in this palace except Hana and Max."
"Even uncle Drake?"
"Oh, sweetie... Drake was the worst sometimes..."
"Really?"
"We can talk about that later. Right now, I want to know what you want to do."
"I want the fairytale."
"Okay."
"But I don't have a dance partner!"
"Actually, Maxwell found three candidates for you. Next?
"Mom, there's the press…"
"Your father and I can handle them. What else?"
"I don't want to be anywhere near Charlotte."
"I can throw her in the dungeon."
"We don't have a dungeon..."
"Well, not in this palace... But my guards can certainly escort Charlotte to Valtoria lower ground floor..." Jade commented with a sly grin.
"Mom!"
"I'm joking."
"You're so not!"
"You say it as if anyone is going to miss her..."
Mom and daughter shared a glance and laughed.
"I want to dance. But I don't want to harm anyone in the process."
"I know..." Jade smiled, glad to realize how much her daughter had in common with her husband. "We'll figure it out. Now, onto more important things." Jade fished her phone out of her pocket and showed it to Elise. "These are your possible dance partners."
"A girl?!"
"And this lovely gender-fluid person who just won a scholarship at The Royal Dance Academy."
"Really?"
"What? We're keeping our options open just in case."
Elise looked at each picture, and though one person caught her eye, she prompted. "Mom, I don't know... Is there a way I can talk to them?"
The queen smirked. "I thought you'd never ask."
Tumblr media
A few days later
Purple, blue and white lights tinted the Royal Palace walls as the guests arrived for the Queen's Ball, one of the most opulent events of Cornodia's social calendar. Among the many attractions of the night, young members of nobility and wealthy families across the world traveled to the Cordonian capitol to partake in the Young Couples Dance. Their hopes were to be introduced to the crème de la crème of world society, sharing their accomplishments and plans for the future.
This year, however, the press was far more interested in news about the Royal Heir, Princess Elise Bourbon-Rys. After the incident between the future queen and Lady Madeleine's daughter, rumors about more spats, feuds between the princess's friends and her rival's at school and possible absence of both of them from the ball spread fast. Yet no one from the palace confirmed nor denied any information. Would the princess miss her own mother's ball? Or was it Lady Charlotte who took the fall?
"Your Majesties! A word, please!" A reporter chanted.
The king and queen smiled to the press, signaling for them to step closer.
"Good evening, everyone!" Liam replied.
"We hope you're enjoying the ball," Jade continued.
"Lady Charlotte just arrived with her family. Does it mean Princess Elise is still grounded?"
"Elise wasn't grounded. Queen Jade and I believe that encouraging our children to do volunteer work is a much more effective way to teach them about compassion and non-aggressive methods to deal with their feelings."
"Can we expect the Princess to attend the ball then?" A paparazzi asked.
"Yes. Elise is preparing herself to join the festivities, just like all the other teenagers partaking in the Young Couples Dance," the queen affirmed.
"Aren't you concerned about another disagreement between the young ladies, sir?"
"There's no reason for concern. They've made amends that same day and they've been working together at the senior's shelter."
"Are they friends now?"
"What about the situation with Lord Zain?"
The reporters continued to ask more questions when the Queen's assistant approached her and whispered something in her ear.
"We would be glad to talk to you some more, but the first attraction is about to start. Please join us in the celebration of this magical evening honoring the children of our country," the queen stated before walking away with the king.
After outstanding performances of Cordonian Royal Ballet academy and a play presented by Queen Eleanor's children home, it was time for the Young Couples Dance. All couples were introduced by the herald and as soon as they took their places in the ballroom, musicians played a traditional Cordonian Waltz. The crowd eagerly waited for any kind of mishap or incident. Contrary to all expectations, the young couples gracefully danced to the song, making it another successful performance.
"Maxwell and Hana did an excellent job with the kids this year," Liam commented.
"I know. Aren't they lovely?" Jade beamed as the couples spinned in perfect synchrony.
"They are. But there's one couple stealing all the attention though." The king nodded towards Princess Elise, who was all smiles to her dance partner. "Who is he?"
"Gael Maldonado, heir to the Ducado de Rivas."
"A Calenvian lord."
"Maxwell was betting on Amalas's child, but I saw how our Lil Bunny was like when she facetimed Gael."
"I see... Did Drake run a background check on him?" Liam asked, scrutinizing the boy.
"What would he—" the Queen then arched an eyebrow in amusement. "Are you jealous, Your Majesty?" Jade teased.
"No..."
"Liam..."
"It's just a precaution."
"You don't say..." she grinned.
"Our children won't have a social season. We need to find out more about their possible..." Liam made a face as the boy whispered something in Elise's ear, making her giggle. "...suitors."
Jade chuckled, hugging the king's arm. "Honey, they just met. Let them enjoy the night with no pressure."
"Are you really not worried?"
"Why would I be? Look at them!"
Elise beamed as Gael spun her around and held her with back pressed against his chest.
The king then gave his wife a knowing look. "You already did a background check on him, didn’t you?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about…” Jade reached for her champagne flute to avoid his gaze.
“Uh huh…”
The king and queen smiled proudly, watching their eldest daughter dance.

Me again. I've been super scarce as of late, but I'm trying to get caught up on everyone's stories (slowly but surely). My mental health has been shit and the past month has been absolute hell. I won't go into details, but I'm dealing with a lot right now. I honestly don't know when any of this will get officially posted, but I at least wanted to share some teasers or something like that.
The stuff is below, lol. There's even something new down there 👀 lmao. I tried to keep it short and sweet, but we all know that's not possible 🤣. Everything is subject to change.
First, here's a bit of HCTS chapter seven.
Olivia cleared her throat, causing Kyla to quickly snap out of it. “Sorry, yes, I'm Kyla. It’s a pleasure to meet you as well, Duchess. Between the King Father and William, I’ve heard a lot about you in return.”
Liam groaned from his spot. Olivia snickered and replied, “I’m sure William hasn’t told you everything. I look forward to getting to know you better.”
“Not you too!” Liam hollered, eliciting a laugh from nearly everyone.
As it died down, a throat cleared. Constantine subtly rolled his eyes and quickly spat out, “Lastly, Lady Riley Brooks.”
"Walker. And it's Duchess Walker." She corrected him.
"Sure." Constantine snapped, avoiding eye contact as he did.
Next, here's a little Ghosted from chapter nine - One Step Forward.
Madeleine growled and mumbled something under her breath, but Olivia couldn’t make it out. Kiara and Penelope shared hesitant looks, both seemingly looking to Madeleine for permission to speak. Olivia ignored their silent conversation as she realized something; even without Riley, they were still missing a suitor.
“Where’s Hana?”
“Who?” Madeleine answered with a scrunched face.
“Hana… Hana Lee.”
“Oh! Right! Hana!" Madeleine exclaimed after a long moment. "I extended the invitation but unfortunately she declined to attend.” She dismissively shrugged.
Okie dokie, here's the last one. All I'll tell you is this is a new series I'm working on titled Pleasure & Pain. 🤐 Hopefully I'll start posting it soon. 🫡
“How am I supposed to trust you?” Liam quickly retorted with an arched brow.
The woman took a couple of steps closer until their lips were only a breath away. “I guess if you really want to tear this dress off, you’re going to have to take your chances.” She winked and with that, turned around and walked away. Her hips sashayed from side to side, showcasing her perfect, voluptuous backside. Liam’s mouth watered as he gawked at her before springing into action and following behind.
Bastien was going to earn his pay today, because Liam was chasing a tail.
Tagging @ao719, @queenrileyrose, @dcbbw, & @tessa-liam. No pressure but I'd love to see what you're working on! 🙃🖤
