Can we talk about how crazy talented and skilled Chaeyeon is?
She started training/skating in the 5th grade (2017) but at the end of 5th grade her mother made her quit because she didn't see her getting anywhere (due to starting at a later age). She later convinced her mother to allow her to train again.
She didn't compete in juniors when she was age eligible at 13 simply because she had only been skating for two years.
Her first international competition was the Asian Open in 2019 where she placed 1st in the Basic novice category.
In the 2021/22 season she made her ISU JGP debut placing 2nd/5th at her two assignments.
In 2022/23 season she competed on the junior circuit for the second time whilst also doing half a senior season. She got 2nd/3rd on her assignments, with a 2nd place at Finlandia Trophy in between. Then ended the season with 3rd at the JGP final, 4th at 4CC, and 6th at her first worlds.
Her success continues now, at aged 17, in 2024. 1st/3rd in two Challenger events, 2nd/4th on her debut on the senior GP circuit, 2nd at 4CC, and now 3rd at her second worlds!
